Wow, Julie. Just wow! I have never read a book that even comes close to what Julie has pulled off. This is definitely a book you will NEVER forget. My suggestion is to go in with an open mind and really absorb everything you read.

The happily ever after she and Chase catches is very well earned.

Prologue

“Hope!” he yells my name, his desperate words piercing my ears as I slam our front door closed. My blood is boiling in a way it never has before, my emotions all over the place, fighting between anger and rage. Everything I was once so sure of, now all washed away because of one decision he made.

Getting into my car, I shut the door and look back at our house. There had been so much promise behind those walls. No, we don’t own it, but we had plans. Plans to one day get married and start a family there.

My knuckles are tight around the steering wheel as I remember actually why that dream just died. Betrayal is a nice way to describe it. I grip harder, wanting to take my anger out on something, pretending as if it’ll solve my problems even though I know it won’t. There is not a thing that will solve or fix this.

As I drive away, my eyes keep glancing to the rear view mirror, to the house I just stormed from, to the house I will never step foot in again. He lied to me beautifully and had done it for so long that I think he believed what he was doing was okay. I don’t think he realized it wasn’t okay until I caught him and all the lies came crashing out into the open.

God, I had not been anything but a puppet in his game of life.

Well, not anymore.

Anxious to get away from this place, this city, this life . . . from it all, I turn onto the onramp for the interstate and don’t want to ever look back.

My mom’s voice rings in my head, “Please don’t go, Hope.” I should’ve listened to her and never left in the first place. If I had, this never would have happened.

It is one of the last things she ever said to me before she had the massive stroke that took her from this world and from me. Her words and panic over my moving away with a man I’d barely known now make so much sense. Had she known how horrible of a man Mitch was and that I’d end up heartbroken? Probably. She also probably stayed silent because she knew I wouldn’t have listened.

Or had she begged me to stay because she had known her time was short? I didn’t know if that was something a person knew or not, but I sometimes wondered if my mother had a feeling deep inside her and that was why she wanted me to stay so badly.

Regardless, nothing is going to bring her back, and nothing is going to change what Mitch did.

My cell phone rings, and when I glance down to see his name and deceitful face across the screen, I roll my window down and impulsively toss the phone out. It bounces against the pavement of the highway. Belatedly, I glance to my mirrors, worried about a car having to swerve to avoid flying projectiles. Thankfully, since it’s so late, there aren’t any other cars around.

Pressing harder on the pedal, I wish I could go home. I wish I could crawl into my mother’s arms, but I can’t. My current destination is unknown, and even with the fear of having nowhere to go, the farther away I get from Portland, the better I feel. Ever since moving there to be with Mitch, something inside me hadn’t felt right.

God, what I’d do to feel right in my own skin again.

I should’ve listened not only to my mom but also to that feeling deep in the pit of my stomach. If I had, maybe then I wouldn’t be in the pain I am now.

Review – Deal Breaker by Tara Leigh

Another successful book by Tara Leigh. I really enjoyed book 1 in this series and was so excited to get book 2. They can be read as standalones, so don’t worry if you haven’t read book 1 yet. Though I do recommend you read it at some point just because its really good!
Nixie and Nash are a set of feisty characters. Nixie is a little spitfire and Nash is your typical domineering alpha who eventually falls casualty to a woman! The fire between these two makes the book that much better. Watching them go through all that they do and eventually come out on the right side with those walls torn down is so fulfilling. There is drama, sugar, and spice waiting for you.
Tara is definitely a new author that is making her mark in this book world one page at a time and I’m so honored to read her words. I look forward to more amazing reads.

“Can I have my clothes now?” My throat was so tight, each word emerged strangled.

Review – He Loves Me Knot by RC Boldt

Pardon me while I enjoy one of the best book hangovers I’ve ever had! I’ve been a fan of RC since the first book I’ve reviewed for her. I’ve loved every book immensely, but this book…. It’s on a whole nother level. I wanted to lay down and go to sleep because the migraine I had prior to starting kept getting worse from the brightness of the kindle. There was just one problem. I COULDN’T PART WITH THIS STORY!!! There wasn’t a chance in hell that I was going to put this book down. I was in a trance from the very beginning and there was just no stopping.
Second chance romances are my favorite trope ever. I have to say that RC completely perfected this one. It was balanced with that humor I’ve come to love from her but it wasn’t the main focus of this story. This story was nothing but a long emotional journey of two souls who didn’t get it right the first time, but fate would see to it that they were brought together to mend each other’s hearts.
I absolutely fell in love with Beckett too and am so glad that he will be getting a book. I know that I am going to get to see that big, goofy, lovable man get his HEA. And also know we will get to see more of Knox and Emma Jane. This has to be added to your TBR. It was definitely a top read this year. This book will have a space in my heart forever.

Wow, the amazing duo of Phillips and Wilde has written another brilliant series that makes me beg for just one more story. Just one more, ladies! But if the Book Boyfriends have to end, what better way to go out than with the delicious Connor Prescott!

I said a silent prayer of thanks to Ben, Jerry, and Jose Cuervo as I blearily made my way to Sam’s bedroom. He hadn’t bothered to make his bed before he left this morning, but I didn’t mind.

Instead, I snuggled into the space where I knew he slept, breathing in deep so I could smell his shampoo on the pillow, and closed my eyes. Sam would never do what Trevor had done to me.

Never.

I drifted off to sleep for what felt like roughly three seconds before I woke up to find my thigh vibrating and the late morning sun streaming through the window.

“What the…” I sat up, rubbing my eye with one hand as I grappled down into the sheets where my cell phone rested. I found ten missed calls—seven from Trevor, three from Sam.

Sliding my thumb over Sam’s name, I called him back and pressed the phone to my ear.

“Hello?” I asked, my voice cracked and groggy.

“It’s eleven there,” he said.

“Yeah, yep. I knew that,” I said, trying to make my voice sound less like it had just gone through a wood chipper.

“So why are you still asleep?” he asked.

“I’m not allowed to sleep in?” I asked lightly, the pounding in my head making me a little nauseous with its intensity.

“No. You never do. What’s going on?”

He sounded suspicious and for a moment I fought with myself over whether to tell him the truth. One way or another, he was going to get it out of me; he knew me too well for me to lie to him for long.

“Look, could I stay at your place while you’re away?” I asked.

“What? Why? Did something happen to your apartment?” he demanded, the worry clear in his voice.

“No, nothing like that. I just… I need a break for a couple of days.”

“That’s not cryptic or anything,” Sam scoffed.

I sucked in my cheeks. Okay, here we go. Like a Band-Aid.

Oh, Adriana Locke has done it again! How she makes us fall head over boots for these incredible families the world may never know. If Crank and Walker Gibson are any indication The Gibson Boys are very seriously going to give that family from Savannah — I think they are the Landrys? — a run for their money as a fan favorite. So so sorry Lincoln. Nah, not sorry at all!

Walker is a hard working blue collar guy. He’s a mechanic, a man of his word. He loves his family and takes pride in his business. Still Walker is a broken man doing his best to hide his hurt, anger and pain behind a stoic attitude and a shuttered soul. All that changes when a girl from Savannah decides to use his truck for batting practice. His life will never be the same after Sienna Landry enters the doors of his auto shop, Crank.

Sienna Landry is considered Savannah royalty coming from a politically powerful family. Still she never felt that she fit in with the high achieving Landry clan. This story had me from the very beginning in much the same way that Written In The Scars did. The Walkers are the real people. They are the family in your own neighborhood. Hard workers. God, family and Sunday dinners at Grandmother’s house. They share their hurts and worries and cheer on the high school football team at state championships. I felt this story in my heart and it reminded me that I am that small town girl trying hard to make the community proud. Crank is a wonderful beginning to another series that I’m going to love and devour from Adriana. This is family with all its beauty and frailties, amazing best friends, and a Nana that makes the best comfort food ever.

This is one mistake Sienna Landry can’t buy her way out of.

Lauren Rowe hits yet another home run in a book filled with humor, wit, emotion, and 100% sexy. This book will draw you in with it’s heat and witty banter but then keep you mesmerized as it gets a lot deeper emotionally.
I really don’t want to give a detailed review of the plot because it’s an adventure in and of itself. The last half of the book had me on edge and almost in tears (I won’t say good or bad. Sorry not sorry). My heart was pounding and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how it all would end. An absolute must read!
