Review- Warning Part 3 by AD Justice

6 out of 5 stars

6 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I don’t even know if I have words to describe my feelings right now. All I know is I can’t wipe th e smile off my face or the tears from my eyes. Warning is such a perfect title for this series, and I let you know why. Don’t say I didn’t WARN you! 😉

I felt every emotion through this book as well as the whole series. I laughed. I cried. My heart beat so fast I thought it might stop. I got so hot I had to take off the covers and cool down. I cringed. I raged. I FELL COMPLETELY IN LOVE!!

I have yet to read an AD Justice book that hasn’t been a 6 star read. I know I still have plenty of books that she wrote before I started reading her work, and trust me that one day they will allbe read. This woman is so talented and deserves it to be shouted from the mountain. This is one series I would truly love to see in a movie. YES, IT’S THAT GOOD! PURE, UTTER PERFECTION!! That ending couldn’t have been any better, and I really hope I am right about what is coming next!

Enough said! This series is a must read, and yes you must read the first 2 books before starting this. It is not a standalone. Now excuse me while I go fangirl and finally take a bathroom break since NOTHING was tearing me away until the last word!

Just when I thought I had everything figured out, life blew up in my face without warning. The missing pieces of the puzzle weren’t clear, and the stakes were too high to merely hope for the best.

Absolute facts I’d believed my entire life turned out to be lies and the truth was harder to accept than the family ever realized. Protecting my loved ones was my only priority. Any threat had to be eliminated—no matter the consequences.

How deep did the treachery go? Only one way to find out.

Review – The Fragile Ordinary by Samantha Young

The Fragile Ordinary by Samantha Young

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There is something special in a young adult romance. That angst from the uncertainty of being not quite a child but not quite an adult either. That bit of childhood innocence resonating through the story. That trip down memory lane it takes to those teenage years, sparking good and trying times. The glue that usually cements YA stories—with tough topics, frustrating feelings, smoldering and sweet scenes, and lots of depth—together is hope. Who doesn’t need a little hope in their life?

”How do you conquer each moment, when you have no one on your side?”

Hope meets heart in The Fragile Ordinary in one STAGGERING EMOTIONAL JOURNEY. The fierce and fiery angst of this teen romance made my pulse pound and my heart beat out of my chest. This beautifully broken book brought tears to my eyes as I broke for a broken girl in a broken family. I felt the angst. I felt the heartbreak. I felt the hope. I felt the heart-fluttering love. I FELT EVERYTHING in this stunning story that speaks to the soul.

To thine own self be true. Be true to yourself.

A compelling coming of age love story laced with Hamlet, The Fragile Ordinary’s underlying themes of being true to oneself and daring to be different strike straight to the teenage soul. Told through a struggling but strong teen girl who is beautiful inside out, The Fragile Ordinary shows the value of life and love, and what it means to truly be loved and really live. The characters are full of fire with a story so heady, so harrowing, so hopeful, and so heartfelt. Broken sees broken, and Comet and Tobias are two kindred spirits with beautiful hearts who are perfect together. A slow burn of two broken souls becoming whole, The Fragile Ordinary is an in-depth dive into the teen heart and soul felt everywhere.

”And . . . What if what I really want is you?”

“Then you have me.”

The Fragile Ordinary. Fragile because the human heart is delicate with the teen’s heart the most delicate of all. But ordinary?!? Not at all. Heartbreakingly beautiful and passionately poignant, The Fragile Ordinary flawlessly captures the delicate teen heart and the depth of resulting emotions in a devastatingly stunning story that is nothing but EXTRAORDINARY. Samantha Young has written another heartfelt and harrowing love story that belongs on every young adult shelf.

”The real beauty of life is in the fragile ordinary.”

💋💋💋💋💋 beautifully broken kisses

I am Comet Caldwell.

And I sort of, kind of, absolutely hate my name.

People expect extraordinary things from a girl named Comet. That she’ll be effortlessly cool and light up a room the way a comet blazes across the sky.

But from the shyness that makes her book-character friends more appealing than real people to the parents whose indifference hurts more than an open wound, Comet has never wanted to be the center of attention. She can’t wait to graduate from her high school in Edinburgh, Scotland, where the only place she ever feels truly herself is on her anonymous poetry blog. But surely that will change once she leaves to attend university somewhere far, far away.

When new student Tobias King blazes in from America and shakes up the school, Comet thinks she’s got the bad boy figured out. Until they’re thrown together for a class assignment and begin to form an unlikely connection. Everything shifts in Comet’s ordinary world. Tobias has a dark past and runs with a tough crowd—and none of them are happy about his interest in Comet. Targeted by bullies and thrown into the spotlight, Comet and Tobias can go their separate ways…or take a risk on something extraordinary.

Down Deep by Kimberly Kincaid

5 out of 5 stars

You say firefighter, I say yes please! Kimberly Kincaid definitely won me over with this one. Two strong main characters with secrets buried literally down deep. It will wind up explosive, literally and figuratively.

The two are definitely headstrong. There is a definite sizzle between the two and things are about to heat up quickly, but not in the way they hoped. When Gamble smells fire, his instincts kick in and all he can think of is getting Kennedy to safety. Once safely outside, he realizes this is more than just a fire and Kennedy is holding tight to some secrets that he needs to pull from her.

I genuinely enjoyed this story and am truly looking forward to more from the author. I was sold at a marine turned firefighter! Who wouldn’t be? 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Are you ready to go deep and feel the burn?

From USA Today bestselling author Kimberly Kincaid comes DOWN DEEP, the next standalone title in theStation Seventeen series, releasing June 18th! Grab you copy today!

Ian Gamble has a past he’d rather forget—which is exactly what he’s doing at The Crooked Angel Bar and Grill when the place catches fire. Between his active duty in the Marines and his experience as a firefighter, his instincts get him and hot, headstrong bar manager, Kennedy Matthews, to safety. But those same instincts kick into high gear when the fire is ruled an arson, and he discovers Kennedy’s got secrets of her own.

The only thing that matters more to Kennedy than her bar is her brother. When she finds out he’s in over his head with a dangerous arsonist, she’ll do anything to keep him safe—even if it means teaming up with Gamble, who’s too sharp-eyed and hard-bodied for his own good. With every step, their attraction flares hotter and the risks grow more dangerous. Can Gamble and Kennedy face their fears—and their secrets—to catch a terrifying enemy? Or will they go down in flames?

Kennedy exhaled for the first time in ten minutes. When faced with fight or flight, she’d go with fight every single time and twice on Sundays. That still didn’t change the fact that the adrenaline was a bitch to manage. Add to it that she hadn’t needed to forcibly boot anyone from The Crooked Angel in over a year—even then, Javier had done the actual handiwork—and she was definitely out of practice with the defenses that had once been daily survival skills.

You sure you’re not going to get soft on me if you move out of the neighborhood, sis?

Setting her shoulders despite the ache that was making a comeback now that her nervous system was (sort of) returning to business as usual, Kennedy spun toward the pass-through at the far end of the bar. Gamble followed her to the customer side, taking a decent-sized draw from his water before putting it out of the way, shrugging out of his leather jacket, and grabbing the nearest bar stool. She had to admit, having him stick around and walk her to her car was smart from a strategic standpoint, and his quiet, steadfast presence calmed her down.

Even if the way he’d trusted her to handle herself had revved her way up.

“So,” Gamble said, yanking her back from crazytown as he turned the stool in his grasp upside-down and put it on top of the bar. “How did a woman like you end up managing a place like The Crooked Angel, anyway?”

“A woman like me,” Kennedy repeated, treating the stool in front of her to an expert flip.

If Gamble had caught the steel in her tone, he didn’t show it by backing down. “Yeah. Something tells me they don’t teach hammerlocks like that at Remington University.”

She released her bar stool to cross her arms over her chest. “Are you saying I don’t look smart enough to have a college degree?”

“I’m saying you look like you have a story,” he qualified, and her muscles burned with a fresh shot of fatigue.

“Yeah, well, I’m not about to tuck you into bed with a glass of warm milk and tell it to you.”

Gamble flipped another bar stool over, the ink on his left arm dancing with the flex and release of his ridiculously well-defined biceps. “Why not? We’ve got a little time to kill while we finish up in here, right?”

“We do,” Kennedy said slowly, moving another stool to its proper place. They’d reached the end of the bar, where one last stool remained in front of four shots of tequila. Gamble’s eyes met hers, glinting briefly, and God, she wasn’t the only one with a story. But since she knew he wasn’t about to get all loose-lipped, and he was right about them having some time to kill while she finished closing the bar down, she figured what the hell. Her background wasn’t exactly top secret information, and it was less awkward than shooting the shit about something mundane, like the weather.

“I guess I ended up here the way most people end up where they work. I applied for the job and got it.”

Bypassing the shots of tequila and the last bar stool—at least, for now—Kennedy moved back to the pass-through at the other end of the bar with Gamble right behind her.

“Did you always want to manage a bar and grill?” he asked, mirroring her movements as she began restocking clean wine glasses in the racks behind the bar.

“Not always. When I was a kid, I wanted to be Wonder Woman.”

He rumbled out a laugh. “Not a bad pick, but something tells me there’s not a lot of availability for a position like that.”

Kennedy bit back the urge to tell him there had probably been an equal likelihood of her honestly working her way out of North Point as there had been of her becoming a superhero. “Exactly. And while office jobs work out great for a lot of people, they’re not really my jam, so I decided the restaurant industry was a good way to go.”

“Yeah, I’m not a nine-to-fiver, either,” Gamble said. “Not that I don’t respect those kinds of jobs. I just wouldn’t last more than two minutes doing one.”

Curiosity flickered in her mind, and she put it to words. “So, what did you want to be when you were a kid?”

“Race car driver,” he said, taking the last wine glass from the tray in front of them and putting it carefully in place. “But I decided it’d be safer to run into burning buildings instead, so here I am.”

Kimberly Kincaid writes contemporary romance that splits the difference between sexy and sweet. When she’s not sitting cross-legged in an ancient desk chair known as “The Pleather Bomber”, she can be found practicing obscene amounts of yoga, whipping up anything from enchiladas to éclairs in her kitchen, or curled up with her nose in a book. Kimberly is a USA Today best-selling author and a 2015 RWA RITA® finalist who lives (and writes!) by the mantra that food is love. Kimberly resides in Virginia with her wildly patient husband and their three daughters.

Review – The Distiller’s Darling by Rebecca Norinne and Jamaila Brinkley

5 out of 5 stars
Holy HOTNESS!! This book really kicked off with a banger, and I mean that literally. I thought my tablet was going to go up in flames. There is definitely no lack of heat in this book, proving that this author duo is is quickly becoming a powerful force to be reckoned with!
Take two independent, stubborn, sexy as sin people together and you’re asking for combustion. Neither are big on the commitment idea, Naomi even more so. Damn she us one stubborn woman. Lol. Iain is definitely dominate and set in his ways as well. Both are determined to do everything in their power to prove their parents wrong. With the burning chemistry between them, they decide to on a 3 month, no strings attached relationship, but the two of them are in for more then they bargained for.
It was nice seeing Noah and his crazy self making me laugh. I’m looking forward to more from this dynamic duo.

Irish whiskey royalty has no place in Northern California, but that isn’t going to stop Iain Brennan, the black sheep of Brennan Family Distillers, from giving it a shot. Wine Country is an unlikely place to launch a whiskey empire, but Iain’s just reckless enough to make it work. And being out from under the watchful eye of his disapproving father back home in Dublin? Even better.

Naomi Klein has spent the last ten years ignoring her society family as much as possible while building a career as a renowned sculptor. She’s found a home in River Hill, but has no interest in dipping her toes into the commitment pool. Just the idea of forever gives her hives. Which makes a rootless Irish wanderer the perfect fling. And shocking her mother? Just a bonus.
But as cozy autumn nights turn into lazy winter mornings, Naomi and Iain realize that they’re getting close to something neither of them wants: love. When Naomi discovers Iain’s not quite as rootless as he seems, she’ll have to make some tough decisions. And when the Brennans and the Kleins descend en masse to collect their prodigal children, River Hill may never be the same.

The Distillers DarlingExcerpt

Naomi opened her mouth to speak, then immediately closed it. She tilted her head to the side and studied him for a couple of seconds. Heres the deal, she said eventually, pulling her hand away and crossing her arms over her chest. I dont sleep with people I work with. Call me old-fashioned, but I never mix business with pleasure. You can either hire me to do your labels, or you can come back to my house and fuck my brains out. Your choice. She finished by raising one elegant eyebrow at him.

Having seen her work, Iain knew what he wanted his labels to look like. But he also knew no woman had made his pulse quicken and his blood run hot and furious through his veins the way this one did. There really was no choice at all.

He slid from the booth and reached into his back pocket. Pulling out his wallet, he dropped two twenty-dollar bills on the tableenough to cover their lunches, plus a hefty tip. Will losing my business impact your bottom line?

Naomi smiled up at him and licked her lips. Not even remotely.

Then lets get out of here.He turned and made his way to the exit, knowing deep in his bonesand elsewhereshed be right behind him.

Twenty agonizingly long minutes later, they stumbled through the door of a charming bungalow several blocks from the restaurant, their limbs twined around each other and their mouths fused together.

Iain kicked the door closed and hoisted Naomi up by her ass, her long, lithe legs wrapping around his waist before he backed her against it. He kissed a path down her jaw to reach the pulse beating violently in her neck. He sucked the dancing point into his mouth and then, moving lower, tongued the frilly lace edge of her bra.

Bedroom?he asked against her soft skin.

Down the hall.Naomi tugged on his belt buckle and then popped the button of his jeans before lowering the zipper. Reaching her hand down the front of his trousers, she cupped him over his boxer briefs and squeezed.

Iain groaned and dropped his head back to stare up at the ceiling while she continued stroking him. Fuck, that feels fantastic. He blew out a long breath, thankful he hadnt misremembered how talented Naomi was with her hands.

Then this will feel even better. She slid down the length of him to land on her knees, lowering his clothes as she went.

Iains head fell forward when she wrapped her slender fingers around his cock and angled it toward her mouth, her eyes trained on him the entire time. She licked him from root to tip, and with a hum of approval, swirled her tongue around his crown like it was a Teddys 99 on a hot summer day. Hed never look at ice cream cones the same way again. Christ, woman.

Naomi flashed him a wicked grin and then took him deep. Those were the last words out of his mouth until he came with a shout.

With his hands flattened against the door and his chest heaving in and out, he stared down at the beautiful woman on her knees in front of him. Youre fucking perfect.

I know.Naomi pushed to her feet, then grabbed his hand and led him through the foyer, past the eclectically-decorated living room, and into a darkened room dominated by a wrought iron four poster bed. She kicked off her shoes, yanked her pale blue blouse off over her head, slid her trousers down her long legs, and then climbed naked on top of the fluffy white duvet.

Iain eyed her greedily as she rested against the enormous pile of pillows at her back. Then she trailed her fingers down the expanse of her creamy white skin until she reached the small slope of her belly. He watched with rapt attention as she traced a light pattern over the flesh there until goosebumps sprouted.

And then they coasted lower and lower and lower. And now youre going to return the favor.

Hell yeah, he was.

Review – Everything I Never Wanted by K. Street

6 out of 5 stars

6 stars. Not 5 but 6!!!

Can I just start by saying, since the day I met this author she has blown me away repeatedly by not just every book but every single word she’s written. She weaves a fairytale that is far from perfect in the beginning, but by the end there couldn’t be more perfection. She captures not just your mind but your heart and soul with each book she writes. I always know I’m in for a heartfelt journey that I will repeatedly need tissues for and that I need time away from everyone and everything because her words consume every fiber of my being.

There are quite a few twists to the story that will keep this review from going into detail plotwise. Just let me say a single dad whose heart’s been trampled is the hardest one to get through to. The author detailed this journey so incredibly that I was an emotional rollercoaster.
So in short, this book is perfect. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. I look forward to whatever comes my way next. You never cease to amaze me which is why with your debut book you became one of my top authors automatically. You prove every single time why!!

A single dad, contemporary romance standalone.

This wasn’t supposed to be my life.

One phone call was all it took to bring me back to the small town I had grown up in. Everything had changed, and staying away was no longer an option.

Four and a half years later, I was a widowed single father still here, still trying to pick up the pieces. We were doing just fine on our own, my little girl and me.

At least, we were until Camryn Parker stumbled into our lives. The woman was like a tornado after a hurricane; she was the storm I never saw approaching. Behind her beauty and sarcastic wit, she was just as broken as I pretended not to be. As hard as I tried to resist, it was impossible not to fall in love with her.

In the end, it took nearly losing it all for me to realize everything I never wanted was exactly what I needed.

Review- Girl Forsaken by Graceley Knox and D.D. Miers

5 out of 5 stars

I’ve been a huge fan of Graceley Knox from her very first book. It’s very exciting seeing her journey on and continue pumping out one amazing book after another. Seeing her pair up with another author, D.D., is just amazing.

This is a continuation of book 1. You must read book 1 before starting this one. Sasha is still kickass and caught in a triangle. I love triangles. I know a lot of people don’t but I love the mystery behind them.

Action packed and fast paced, you’ll read this book in one sitting. Be careful for that cliffy😉😉. Book 3 is coming soon. What will the future bring?

Every betrayal begins with trust . . .

A lot has happened since the brutal attack that transformed Sasha Keleterina into one of the undead. She’s left Arsen and the Draugur vampires behind but dealing with Niko and his advances almost sends her crawling back. Though Arsen continues to beg for her forgiveness, she’s still too raw from his betrayal to be near him.

When Jackson learns the truth about Sasha’s attack, Sasha is once again conflicted about where her loyalties lie and who her true friends are. The clock is ticking, and with an all-out war on the horizon, Sasha desperately fights to find a cure to save not just the vampires . . . but herself.

Who knew being a vampire would be so tough?

Review – The Upside of Falling by Meghan Quinn

MQTheUpsideofFallingBookCover55x85_MEDIUM
The Upside of Falling by Meghan Quinn

My rating: 6 of 5 stars

”It’s the little things that matter the most.”

When Meghan Quinn Author told me she was writing a story she thought I’d enjoy, a military romance, I was over-the-top excited! I knew from the beginning that this story would be different—less humor, some heat, and more heart. Full of so much SWOON and SOUL, The Upside of Falling made me fall hard in love from the very first page and never stopped. The Upside of Falling HITS DEEP. I was ENAMORED with this full of depth and breadth love story! The Upside of Falling has ALL THE HEART in a story that strikes straight to the soul.

”I hope you give me a chance, give this a chance, because I think it could be something great.”

Colby and Rory!!! Whoa!!! I was seriously hooked on these characters who melted me so much! The broody and broken hero and fierce and full-of-life heroine stole my heart. Their connection was fierce from first sight like a magnet drawing them together. The Upside of Falling’s plot of many layers pulled me in like a pilot to his plane. Polarizing. Paralyzing. Passionate. Perfection. All the angst-burning PERFECTION!!!

”I like you, Rory, and that terrifies me.”

The Upside of Falling is a military romance but so much MORE: The Upside of Falling is a love story of two black and white lives suddenly splashed with color. The Upside of Falling is a hard-fought journey of strength and sacrifice, one of overcoming adversity, and learning to love and trust. The Upside of Falling is a paralyzing and passionate story of rising after falling, of taking that leap of love. The The Upside of Falling is EVERYTHING!!!

”Dream of me.”

My heart has been caught—captured by The Upside of Falling—as it glides through the air like a fighter jet, straight to Cloud Nine. An old school military romance, The Upside of Falling reminds me a bit of my own soldier love story, one that hit every part of my heart. This is one of the sweetest and most soulful slow burns you’ll ever read. I was BREATHLESS! The Upside of Falling is so BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN, such a stunning and soulful story.

”I know it deep in my bones that I was meant to meet you, and you were meant to be mine.”

SWEET SIGH. Meghan Quinn was right: I LOVED The Upside of Falling! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! Meghan ‘Master Storyteller’ Quinn has poured her heart into this story, and I can feel that passion and love through the words. In one HEART-SOARING STORY FULL OF FEELS, Meghan Quinn has aced the military romance trope. The military wife in me salutes this love story. I WAS BLOWN AWAY by a book that broke me in the best way!

Act in spite of your fear.

The Upside of Falling is, hands-down, a TOP 2018 ROMANCE!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 ’but worth all’ the heart-soaring stars

Tucked away at the base of the Rocky Mountains lived a little boy with one singular dream: leave this broken and battered home and become someone.

Be somebody’s hero.

That boy was me—Colby Brooks. Except I’m not that same little boy anymore.

My dreams might still be the same, but my reality isn’t.

I’m smarter. Stronger. A man.

And I learned a long damn time ago, the only way to achieve my dreams was to avoid distractions—at any cost.

Focus. Resolve. Determination.

But all it took was one single night. One night and my entire life…changed.

One night had me colliding head first with the biggest distraction of my life; Rory Oaks.

Smart. Charming. Beautiful.

Rory changed everything.

Quickly, my one-track mind started to bend.

Each kiss faded decade-long dreams.

And with one single incident, I fly off course.

Head turned down, pushing the sleeves of his white Henley up his arms, he swaggers toward me. His jeans hang low on his hips, held up by the same brown belt he wore the other night. His narrow waist directs my eyes to the center of his jeans, and I can’t help wonder what might be behind the crotch of his pants.

And then there is his chest. Barrel like, broad and prominent. His thick biceps showcase his strength, and the fabric of his shirt stretches over his shoulders and forearms. Having spent a lot of time at the gym, I’ve seen every body type, but Colby’s is different. He’s strong, built, but not like a body builder. His body seems to suggest the only kind of weight he’s been lifting is his own body, pushup after pushup. I can’t imagine there being barbells in his workouts, but I can imagine logs, cadets, and heavy machinery. He has working muscles, the kind you earn from hard, dedicated work on the field. In a word? Impressive.

Walking up to Stryder, he grips his friend’s shoulder and says something into his ear. A smirk crosses Stryder’s face before he moves over to our side of the bowling alley and takes Colby’s place.

Is he leaving? Already?

Might as well at this point. It’s not like he’s going to talk to me, not after my pathetic attempt at a bet. I should have known I was going to hang out in the gutter all night. It’s where I usually am when I’m bowling. I blame the ball. The thing has a vendetta against me.

Sighing, I prop my chin in my hand and watch Stryder expertly toss his ball down the lane, getting a strike . . . once again. And just like every other strike, he pumps his arm up in the air and celebrates. We get it, you’re good, no need to—

“Hey.”

That voice . . .

Stunned, eyes wide, not able to move, not wanting to scare him away, I keep my eyes trained forward, soaking in that beautifully deep voice of his for a brief moment before saying, “Hey.”

“Can I sit here?”

Still keeping my eyes trained forward, I say, “Sure.”

My body tingles with awareness of how close he is to me, that fresh laundry scent invading my senses, prickling the little hairs on my arm. My body leans toward his, wanting a little more, searching for anything else he might give me. I don’t know why he’s choosing to engage me in conversation, but I’m sure as hell not moving while he does.

“Sorry about tonight,” he says and he actually sounds sincere.

“Why are you sorry?” I mumble.

Reaching around, he takes my cheek in his hand. The callouses on his palm rubbing against my skin is a welcome sensation. As I’m turned toward him, I steady my breathing. I’m having a hard time slowing my heart rate because of his close proximity, and the unexpected touch shooting a wave of heat through my veins.

“I’m sorry you didn’t get to ask me any questions. I didn’t think you were going to suck that bad.” A playful smile tugs at his lips, and my heart sinks to the floor. Oh God, he’s so gorgeous, especially when he smiles.

Matching his smirk, I say, “I didn’t think I was going to suck that bad either.”

“I feel bad.”

“You should.” That garners a laugh, deep and throaty, the sound cloaking me like a shield, protecting me from the outside world, bringing me into a little bubble where we are the only two that exist.

“Ask me a question.”

Shocked, I swallow hard and say, “Really?”

He nods and holds up his fingers. “You get three.”

“Oh, three? Wow, I feel like you just gave me the key to your soul.”

Rolling his eyes, he adjusts his stance on the barstool and leans back, giving us some space, our knees still knocking into each other. “Easy killer; it’s just three questions.”

“Yeah, three questions I didn’t have before.” Tapping my chin, I try to think of good questions, but now that I have him willing and waiting, nothing comes to mind. I wasn’t prepared for this, he caught me off-guard, and now I feel I can’t be strategic about my probing. “Hmm . . . what do you like to do on the weekends?”

“Jump,” he answers.

Searching his eyes, lips quirked, I say, “Uh, you’re going to have to be more specific than that. What kind of jumping are we talking here? Like jump roping? Because that seems kind of weird to do on the weekends, and if you tell me you’re in some kind of jump-roping club at the academy, I’m not going to believe you.”

His lips curve up as he scratches the side of his jaw. “Jump out of airplanes.”

Oh.

Oh.

That’s . . .

Uh, that’s really hot.

“So you just casually jump out of airplanes?”

“I’m part of the Wings of Blue, the academy’s parachute team. We jump every day, at least two to three times a day after class and before dinner, depending on wind and ceiling limits. On the weekends, some of the guys, including Stryder and me, go to Springs East Airport and do civilian jumps. The more jumps we get in, the higher the chance we’ll be considered for big demonstrations, like parachuting into football games and major sporting events for the Rockies and Broncos.” Ummmm. Did anyone else just hear how many words he gifted me? And seriously? Does the man have no clue how incredibly sexy he is when he talks about something he loves? The expression on his face . . .

“Wow, that’s . . . that’s really hot.” I chuckle. “Sorry, I don’t mean to fangirl over your parachuting, but I guess I wasn’t expecting that answer. You just jump out of planes?”

He slowly nods. “Every day.”

“Anything to get you up in the clouds, huh?”

“Yeah,” he answers shyly, rubbing his jaw. “Okay, next question.”

Review – Rock King by Tara Leigh

5 out of 5 stars

Tara once again takes my expectations and smashes them to a million pieces. I knew this was going to be an amazing book, but it soared beyond what I ever expected. You will read this book thinking you’re reading a book by an author whose been at it for many years. It still blows me away that Tara is relatively new but I never knew until she told me herself. I still had trouble believing it.

First off, who doesn’t love a rock star romance? Well forget what you’ve read, Tara is in a class of her own. This book had me flying high and feeling the angst and brokenness of both characters. We know they both have a past which they are hiding from each other and the world. It makes this story that much more emotional.

Watching the evolution of these two souls is so beautiful and at times heartbreaking. I feel that this is a book everyone needs to read whether rock stars are your thing or not. Tara will make you a believer! She will have you thirsting for more! Keep your eyes peeled for Rock Legend coming July 17th.

Fans of Kristen Callihan and Kylie Scott will scream for this sizzling bad boy rock star romance!

I’m not who you think I am.

Shane Hawthorne has it all. At least, that’s what the headlines say about me. I have millions of fans, awards, more money – and women – than I know what to do with. But what you don’t see is the wreckage I’ve caused. The memories and pain I can’t escape, even when I pour them into music and spin them into gold.

I tried to forget. To lose myself in booze and groupies. It didn’t work. It hurt me and – worse – it hurt my band. That’s the last thing I want to do, so I’m cleaning up my act… starting with Delaney Fraser.

Gorgeous, smart, drama-free, and even nice – Delaney is the perfect “girlfriend.” When I’m with her I don’t have to pretend. It’s like she sees the real me. And I can see a future with her. But that’s dangerous. Because the truth is, Shane Hawthorne doesn’t actually exist. He’s a shield to hide who I really am. Fraud. Runaway. Addict. Murderer.

And it’s impossible to love a lie, right?

Review – Unconscious Hearts by Harper Sloan

UnconsciousHearts_FrontCover

Crystal's review

She has given us security corps, sexy strippers, hot rockers and cool cowboys. Then she comes along with him. Thorn Evans. Oh, Harper. How can we ever thank you for gifting us with one of the most alpha, sexiest, most demanding heroes that you have ever written?

He’s a dream in tight tee shirts and jeans but makes a dress shirt and slacks look like a tuxedo. He grumpy, direct and to the point. His words left not only his girl swooning and sighing. I did too! But it isn’t just his smoldering looks or his commands that make Thorn incredible. It’s his heart. It’s the vulnerable behind the bluster… the way this man holds himself back because he’s seen so much and hurt that much more. He captivates from the moment he steps onto the pages and before I could turn those pages, he had my heart and to this day hasn’t let go.

Ari Daniels has had her share of heartbreak. Her past is filled with tragedy. One single act of betrayal changes her world. She is at a place in her life where she seems to be simply surviving instead of truly living. Ari isn’t prepared for this giant of a man who enters her life and for the first time in seven years makes her feel again. He batters and fights and won’t stop. He’s a hurricane with his sights set on destroying anything and anyone who stands in the way of his beauty… his more. What I loved so much about Ari is how she embraced her pain, looked it right in the eye and gave it the finger. And then she not only lived… she thrived. I cheered her on, applauded her strength and was jealous. That’s right. Absolutely jealous this woman had an amazing man like Thorn to awaken her senses and share her new experiences.

The secondary cast of characters in this story are just as vital as Thorn and Ari. They weaved their magic and made me laugh out loud. Thorn’s very best friend Wilder and Ari’s truest friend Piper have their own amazing story to tell. And just from the brief glimpse of them, theirs will burn hot and very heavy.

Unconscious Hearts is a tremendous love story. It is a story about courage, forgiveness and family and not just family by blood, but family by choice. It’s an emotional twisty roller coaster ride from heart stopping devastation to mile high elation. It’s the story of two scattered souls finding beauty and more. I hated when it ended but loved it at the very same time. Ari and Thorn’s story was sexy, sensual and real. So real. I was with every page I read and still am blown away.

This is truly Harper Sloan at her very best. Bravo, Harper! FANTASTIC!

Ari Daniels didn’t count on her whole world tumbling down around her in a mess of shredded promises, broken love, and unbelievable heartbreak. Alone and stricken with grief, she shouldered the blame and eventually closed her heart off, refusing to open it for another.  After all, anytime she tried, guilt and regret were waiting in the wings to remind her how painful it was.

A bet and one steamy night with a stranger force Ari to confront all she’s been hiding behind.  She tries to move on, but he refuses to stand down, wanting what she is terrified to give—herself.  This man may very well destroy her in the end, especially when it’s clear he has his own demons.

What happens when two broken souls come together, finally allowing themselves to believe in the beauty of love … only to have to fight harder than ever to keep it.

His eyes get hard for a beat before his features smooth back out.  “Yeah, beyond sure.  No one to pass this shit down to, and even if there was, I wouldn’t be givin’ someone ideas of materialistic bullshit if I did.  More to life than all this shit.”

“Okay, well, in that case …” I cough, not wanting to fight with him about our views when it comes to expensive wants versus needs.  Last time I tried to argue the benefits of learning to care for and value something you work hard to buy, I had a black eye for almost two weeks.   “In that case, I’m prepared to offer you a lump sum as a buyout for the whole collection, but I also want to mention, again, that consignment would be a more lucrative approach.  Our buyout is just a standard percent of resale value, but consignment would allow us to mark up each to give you a larger profit.”

“Told you, babe, want it gone.  I don’t give a shit about making it more lucrative.  Look around you, hardly hurting.”

“Still, it’s my obligation to make sure you’re informed.”

“Consider me informed.”

“Okay … so I can offer a tentative amount of three million.  I would need more time to inspect each item in depth for any defects that could affect the value and also to research a few pieces I feel may be limited editions so that could also affect the value.  Meaning that amount could go up or down, but I wouldn’t expect it to be less than two point five or more than four point seven-ish.  I wouldn’t need but maybe five days tops, and I can come during the day if that works better for your schedule.”

“You get this gone in two days, and I’ll take one mil.”

My whole body jerks back as if I had been slapped, staring at him like he was absolutely insane.

“That’s absolutely insane,” I tell him, voicing my thoughts.

“No, that’s me not giving a shit and wanting it gone so I can get out of this place and sell it and all this shit some hand with care placed around each room.  Woulda left this shit in and sold it with the house, but for some reason I’ll never understand, you’re here, and I still just want it gone.  You don’t need five days when I’m taking a two mil hit, babe.  That would waste your time and mine, and I’m not a huge fan of wasting my time.  Way I see it, you win, and I get a cold mil for some shit I didn’t buy nor care about.  So you get this shit outta here, and all I need is that.”

“Thorn, I can’t in good conscience accept that.”

“Then dirty that conscience up and laugh your tight little ass all the way to the bank.  Don’t give a shit as long as it’s gone, and I don’t have to do anything to make it that way.”

“This is insanity.”

“Insanity would be tossing it all at the Goodwill drop-off.  I’m making money.  You’re making money.  Only thing sweeter than making money is doing it while I’m getting my cock wet, and babe, that only happens when my stock rises at the same time my cock does.”  He steps closer, and I back into the island, my chest burning as I hold my breath.  “Course, never had four mil worth of shit to sell to a woman who makes my cock rise without even trying.”

“Thorn,” I whisper, placing my hand against his hard chest with the intention of pushing him back.  Only, the second his warmth burns through his shirt and hits my skin, I can’t move an inch.

“Ari,” he mocks, his eyes bright.

“I, uh, the paperwork …” I close my eyes and focus on my breaths and the words my mouth can’t seem to form.  When my heart slows enough that I won’t die of a heart attack right here in heaven, I look back up at him.  “You’re breaking my brain, Thorn.  Please step back so I can think clearly without my body trying to die on me.”

The corners of his eyes crinkle as he continues to gaze down at me, but he does step back.  My arm falling down to my side.

“As much as I wish I could have this room cleared out for you tomorrow, it will take at least until late Monday.  I’ll need to meet with you beforehand to have some legal paperwork signed for the sale due to its size.  But my lawyer is an old family friend, so I can have that by tomorrow around dinnertime, if you wouldn’t mind meeting me to take care of that.  I won’t be able to get the cashier’s check until after those are signed, so late Monday is the best I can offer you.”

“Want this shit gone, but it’s hardly a hardship to wait a few more days if that means I’ve got a few more opportunities to try to make you want me as much as you want this shit around you,” he says, his deep voice thick with desire.

“Good heavens, you don’t stop, do you?”

“Not unless you beg, babe.”

“I think it’s best we went back to keeping things professional, Mr. Evans.”

This time, it isn’t a ghost of a smile on his lips.  Oh, no.  Not this time.  If I thought he was handsome before this moment, I was a fool.  Because Thorn Evans giving you his full, unhindered smile and a gaze so thick with unspoken promise as it washes over you and creates a fire of the desire you already felt … well, that expression on him turns him from sinfully hot to heart-stopping and irresistible instantly.

“It would take me five minutes to get you to beg me for it, Ms. Daniels.  Admit it.”

Offended at the thought that I’m easy, I narrow my eyes.  Finally.  At least anger is an emotion I’ve had plenty of practice dealing with.  “I’m not sure what kind of women you’re used to, but I promise you, I am not that type of woman.”

“Maybe three,” he oddly says, ignoring me.

“Three, what?” I snap.

“Minutes, sweetness.  Three minutes and you’d be begging me for all this shit and my cock.”

My mouth flounders, and I gasp.

“Though, pretty sure I could get that in less than a minute and get you doin’ all the work while I watch from my back.”

My arm is up, palm cracking against his cheek before I have the ability to do anything to stop it.  “I think we’re done here.”

I walk around him, ready to find my way out and let him find someone else to take all of this off his hands even if it kills a little part of my lux loving soul.  When his hand curls around my bicep—not painfully, but firm enough to make me stop—I look over my shoulder with a frown.  For a man who was just slapped, he looks almost gleeful.

“One minute, Ari.  Give me a minute and if you aren’t ready to beg me for it, when those sixty seconds are up, you can take this shit and not give me a penny for it.”

Walk away, Ari.  Walk.  Away.  No amount of money is worth being some man’s whore.

Spinning away from his hold, I jerk my arm free and step toward him with a roll up to my toes, getting my face as close to his as I can.  His scent overwhelms me. The subtle notes of his cologne fog my rational thought, making me drunk with need, and I sway slightly before correcting myself.

“Thirty seconds,”  I retort, my jaw tight with stubbornness.

I’m not sure who I shocked more—him or me.  I have my answer, though, when I see victory flash in his eyes.  Oh, my God … what have I done?

“You’re on,” he agrees, his eyes alight with the promise backed up by his devilish grin.

I nod, incapable of anything more.  I stand there in shocked silence as he takes my phone, his thick fingers moving quickly over the screen.  I vaguely hear a chime from his pocket and before I can so much as blink, he’s handing me my things.

“Tomorrow, I’ll text you.  Paperwork first, then you beg.”

I gulp, jerk my head in what I hope resembles a nod of agreement, and then … I flee.

Review – Misadventures With A Rock Star by Helen Hardt

5 out of 5 stars

OMG Helen!! This book was so mind blowing my addicting that I never wanted it to end. This book is so different than what I’m used to from you, and I loved it just as much.

Really the best word to describe this book is SCORCHING!!! I seriously thought my tablet was going to go up in flames. This was by far the hottest book you’ve ever written, but I love that you still had that beautiful signature Helen Hardt storyline that made it complete.

You know I love your Steele boys, but I gotta tell you, I REALLY REALLY want my own Jett Draconis ASAP! This book was a pure testament to the amazing writing and creativity uniqueness that I have come to love from Helen. She truly can write about anything and turn it into gold!
