Meet the Babes!

The Bookalicious Babes Blog Team are not just bloggers; we are family. All of us are from different areas spanning the United States and England, but we stand united in helping authors bring beloved books into readers’ hands.

Karen

I’m a Southern gal from Virginia and military wife who calls many places home: Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and Germany. Also, I’m blessed to be a stay-at-home mama to my four littles. In November 2014, I decided to quit my corporate marketing manager/writer job of many years and at many Fortune 100 companies to stay at home with my children. Needing more to do at home after just a few days, I started Bookalicious Babe Blog (BBB), which marries my love of romance books, marketing background, and writing expertise.

My favorite part of blogging is the amazing book world I’m blessed to call ‘home’ where bookworms are my people— starting with my terrific team of five babes beautiful both on the inside and outside. These five gals I recruited started as bookworms but quickly became friends and family. I don’t usually go a day without messaging or talking with one or more of the Babes. Without these five lovely ladies, BBB would not exist, and I would not have gained these wonderful women in my life. We are family at BBB, and our team motto is: “Family always comes first.”

The hardest part of blogging for me is all of the hours and time spent maintaining the blog—keeping up with messages, emails, group member approvals, and posts. Sometimes it’s also difficult to keep up with my to read pile of advanced reader copies (ARCs) when life gets in the way of reading or all of my ARCs arrive at nearly the same time.

A big part of blogging is obviously reading. My love of reading began as a young child with classics like Cinderella, Ferdinand, Where the Red Fern Grows and more. As a teen I read V.C. Andrews forbidden or twisted stories, and snuck my mama’s Danielle Steel books to read, starting my love of romance books. Not much later, I fell in love with Sylvia Day and Maya Bank’s writing. Finally, my reading progressed at an even faster rate after my date with the Twilight series in July 2012 followed immediately by Fifty Shades of Grey, both series devoured each in two days.

Reading is my ‘me time.’ It’s my time to unwind. An escape from reality, reading is a venture into a new world, and sometimes meet new authors. My favorite books to read are contemporary, erotic, dark, fighter, and rocker romances. Most often I read on my kindle in bed or on the couch and sometimes in the car—wherever I can sneak in a few pages. I may or may not be hoarding ~1000 books on my kindle. I’m also a hoarder of signed books and own 100s of signed pretties on my shelves that are my other ‘babies.’

My dream for BBB is to continue our growth of a blog that is a fun, loved and trusted venue where authors and fans stop for their daily dose of romance reads, reviews. Be a team and blog where authors can count on us for full support of their wonderful work.

Sophie

I’m from a little place called North Lincolnshire in the UK. I’m a full-time assistant to many beloved authors, and I love serving them in this wonderful book community.  I’m a single mum to my beautiful little lady who is my life.

My BBB journey started in March 2015 and quite honestly it’s been one of the most amazingly stressful experiences of my life and I wouldn’t change one single bit of it. My passion for reading has always been strong, even from being little, but in joining BBB I found a bigger purpose to reading, my passion grew and I garnered more respect for authors and what they do.

The best part of blogging to me is being able to help the authors we support, just being a tiny part of their journey is a true blessing to me.

I’m also blessed that I’m blogging with five of the BEST women out there. My fellow book Babes are now family to me and I adore each and every one of them.

Blogging can also come with its bad parts. It’s HARD sometimes. I wish, as I’m sure all the Babes do that I could do this full time. It would be wonderful to be able to help every single author out there but it’s just not possible.

I have a huge passion for reading. Romance/erotica is my thing, however, I’m not a fan of historical or paranormal genres but I like Twilight so go figure! I think Fifty Shades truly bought me further into loving this genre and opened up this amazing indie book world to me.

My dream for BBB is to keep doing what we’re doing. BBB upholds the highest, professional standards and truly works hard to do the best and most we can for our authors. We will continue to do this for as long as we are able.

I am from west Texas and work with kids and adults with special needs, which I’ve been doing for 12 years. I enjoy reading all types of books and love life.

My favorite thing about blogging is all the authors I have met and get to engage with on a daily basis, and also all the wonder book babes I have met along the way!

The hardest thing about blogging is that you want to read and support so many authors but that ARC pile gets so long and sometimes you can’t take on so many—no matter how badly you want to help.

Reading has always been my escape plus it gives me an excuse to have as many book boyfriends as I want without cheating… lol. It is also my way to just relax after a hard day’s work.

My dream for BBB to that we continue to grow as bloggers but also as a family.

Crystal

I’m a born and raised Mississippi girl but finding the love of my life brought me to North Carolina. I have been here since 1994. After college, I worked for the Department of Social Services for nine years. Since 2015, I have been a stay at home mom to two fantastic little boys. After being in the work force for so long, it was quite the adjustment to being at home. Luckily, the blog has given me a great outlet to connect with other avid readers just like me.

I joined BBB in August 2015. I count myself as very blessed to be a part of this absolutely brilliant group of women. From the beginning I was welcomed with open arms. I was made to feel like family and that my opinions and input were valuable and important. The six of us come from all walks of life and from all corners of the world but together we make a truly amazing team. It is the very best part of being a blogger – the fantastic comradery and shared love of books and the authors who give us those stories that turn our worlds upside down.

The toughest part of being a blogger is of course, time. Finding time to get through that ever growing stack of arcs. Time to check in on all the authors that we support to make sure that there’s nothing that we’ve missed or anything that we can do to help promote the newest release. Time to check the mail, answer questions and interact with our members. Being a blogger, a wife and a mommy is a balancing act. I’ve had to learn – sometimes the hard way – that are times when it’s best to stop, step back from the books and the blog and regroup. The wonderful thing about this group is the understanding that bottom line our families always come first.

Reading romance has always been my outlet and my escape. It all started with an old Harlequin that my aunt brought home from work. I have been obsessed since. It has been a pleasure to find new authors to add to my always growing to be read list and indulge in the authors that I have always loved. I enjoy them all from contemporary, to historical, to erotic and everything in between.

My dream and highest hope for BBB is that we continue to bring amazing authors and their stories to a growing audience of new readers.

Tina

I’m a born and raised Baltimore girl. I am a registered nurse that specializes in critical care. I am a veteran of the US ARMY where I became a vet tech. I did that for 10 years before I became a nurse. I am a mommy to a 10 year boy. I also have enough animals to probably be a certified zoo..lol.

My favorite part of being a blogger is all of the wonderful people I have met. I’ve met authors I wouldn’t have otherwise come across. I feel like I have a new family in my book babes at Bookalicious Babes Blog. We are a very close knit group and have no problems helping each other out. I feel blessed to be a part of a team as great as mine. I love reading and have an open mind to all genres but especially love paranormal, fighters and military men.

The hardest part of being a blogger is finding time to keep up with my arc pile. Also, having to turn down new requests because I will never be completely caught up with the ones I already have. You want to help everyone but quickly learn that is just not possible. I wish I could help everyone, but life gets in the way.

I loved reading in middle and high school but then after joining the military and beginning to work full time, I didn’t really think about it anymore. That all changed when Twilight came out. I read that series more times than I can count. It really got me back I to the swing and from there I started reading like crazy.

My dream for BBB is that we continue to work our hardest to bring you the best romance reads we can find. I hope that we continue to grow and foster great friendships with authors and readers alike.

Vicki

I’m from a little place called North Lincolnshire in U.K.
I am blessed to be a stay at home mum to 2 crazy little girls and my husband who are my entire world.

My love of reading started at a very early age I have always been a book worm it is my escape and happy place for me, things grew for me in April of 2016 when I got the amazing chance to be part of the BBB Review team and in the year I was part of it my appreciation for authors and the indie field grew also. I am immensely blessed to have met some amazing authors in this time and can’t wait to meet more as time goes on.

My journey into this wonderful world of blogging has only just begun and I know I still have so so much to learn but I have 5 of the best ladies by my side as I begin this epic journey.

My biggest hopes and dreams for BBB is it continues to grow and support more authors and be able share with everyone.
