Review ~ ONLY WITH ME BY KELLY ELLIOTT.

There are certain books that you pick up to read that are unknown authors to you but you take a step and take a chance that this book is going to be everything you want and more and ticks all the boxes….. Well this book has been all of that and so much more.
Kelly Elliott is a new to me author and I am now going to slap myself for not picking up her books sooner. Only with me pulled me in, grabbed hold of heart, made it beat so fast, stirred emotions so deep in my soul that I’ve had tears rolling down my face as I’ve read this. I have laughed out loud more than once while devouring this book and been left so blissfully full and happy.
Nic holy hotness who doesn’t love a man in Uniform and a Greek God to top things off, he is everything you want from a man, alpha, protective, sex god, with family values.
Gabi this girl is strong, stubborn, sassy and Italian, but with a past she wants to stay hidden and with her world colliding full speed with Nic’s can he prove to her that he is all she needs?
The story line flows beautifully, the words pour from the pages captivating your soul investing everything you have into them infiltrating your soul and filling your heart so full, while causing you to laugh so hard at times tears flow.
This may have been a first read for me from Kelly Elliott but it will not be my last a stunning 5++ stars.

Life was great.

I loved my bachelor life and working my dream job with the Colorado Springs SWAT team.

That all changed the day I stepped into her bakery. Her smile swept me off my feet, and her panna cotta was heaven.

Cue my very traditional Greek family.

Then all hell broke loose.

The woman I was falling in love with was Italian, and my mother was hell-bent on proving to the world she was the better cook.

If my meddling family wasn’t bad enough, for the last six years Gabi had been on the run from a past she tried desperately to escape from.

Between a beautiful woman on the run, and a crazy family constantly in my business, would I be able to show her I’m the only one who can keep her safe … or will her past steal her away from me?

My eyes swung over to look at my mother standing there with my aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.

“Shit,” I whispered.

“Oh God. This is not happening. This is it!” Gabi exclaimed as she covered her mouth.

I placed my hands on her shoulders and leaned in closer. In a whispered voice, I asked, “What is wrong?”

Her eyes met mine. “This is her challenge! I thought it was that day in the bakery. That was a merely a test! She’s here to take me down!”

I laughed. “My mother is not here to take you down.”

She slowly shook her head and asked, “How did she know?”

Then we both turned to look at Liza. She took a step away. “You didn’t.”

Liza’s eyes were everywhere. Me, my mother, back to Gabi, back to my mother. “I might have mentioned it that day in the bakery when she was there. But she saw the registration form and asked if you had entered! I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to say.”

“Nicholaus, don’t be rude. Introduce your Gabriella to your Aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.”

Gabi took in a slow deep breath before turning and facing my mother and aunts.

With my hand on her back, we walked closer. “Mama, this is a surprise to see you here.”

She looked taken aback. “Why? I love to cook, this is a cooking competition. Why wouldn’t I be here?”

“Because you’ve never entered one before.”

The three of them laughed. “Please. Your mama has won more cooking competitions than anyone in this room.”

Gabi swayed, and I tightened my grip on her.

When my mother turned to look at Gabi, she wore a wide smile. “So, with you being a part of our family, I want to make sure you come in second so I’ve brought you some help.”

Oh for shits sake.

“Help?” Gabi asked with a strained voice.

And before our eyes appeared my cousins Sophia and Angie, and just when I didn’t think it could get worse, cousin Maria walked up carrying a giant bag with some rat looking dog in it.

“Um, I don’t think you can have a dog in here,” Liza said.

Everyone turned and looked at cousin Maria. “Are you shitting me? I don’t go anywhere without my Nikky.”

“Gabriella, this is Aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.”

Gabi reached her hand out to theirs.

“Ahh! You made it!” my mother called out as her best friend came walking up. I couldn’t help but groan.

“Gabriella, this is my very dear friend, Maria.”

I didn’t think Gabi could look any more confused. “Oh, um, another Maria! That’s a lot of Maria’s under one roof.” They all stared at her like they didn’t get it.

They fucking got it.

“All right, well now that the gang is here, Mama you should be heading on over to your station.”

“You’re not coming over there with me?”

Gabi’s head jerked to the side to look at me. Oh shit. What the hell do I do?

I did the only thing I knew to do. I looked for guidance from Liza. My eyes were wide as she motioned to Gabi.

Right. Right. I needed to stay with Gabi.

“Well, Mama, I was planning on helping Gabi and being here for moral support with this being her first competition and all.” Gabi glared at me.

Shit, what did I do now?

Then my mother turned back to Gabi. “First, huh?” My heart dropped in my chest. That’s why Gabi shot me a dirty look. “Well, I better let you get going then. Good luck.”

With a full-on smile, Gabi nodded. “Thanks! You too. And may the best cook win.”

Tossing her head back and laughing before looking back at Gabi, my mother said, “Oh, I will.”

Growing up in a small town, Sarah Wright knew city boy Jake Ryland was going to be trouble the minute she saw him.

In order to help a friend, Jake moved from his home in the city – with its vast amounts of entertainment options and women – to a small town in the middle of nowhere. Accustomed to the fast paced life he loved, life now seemed to move as slow as the molasses the South was known for. Until he met Sarah.

Sarah knew Jake’s stay in town was temporary, and did her best not to be drawn in by his charm and good looks. And after a disastrous first date, she thought she was safe. Little did she know…

As their relationship builds, so does their chemistry…and their feelings for one another. Do they try to find a way to make it work, even though they come from different worlds? Or do they walk away now and wonder what might have been?

AUTHOR BIO

There’s just something about a small town that makes relationships interesting, whether they are romances, long-running feuds, or life-long friendships. These are the relationships H.C. In her spare time, you can find her playing pool, traveling with her family, or curled up watching movies (romantic comedies are a favorite!). She’s also an avid reader, leaning towards various authors of romance and chick lit, but her favorite is Nora Roberts.
A southern girl at heart, H.C. calls Kentucky her home. After opting to join the military to pay for college, she spent three years stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany before returning to her hometown in rural western Kentucky, where she and her husband live with their two daughters.

Review- The Rainmaker by Shauna Allen

My rating is 5 out of 5 stars

I didn’t think I would love anyone more than Asher, but I was dead wrong. My heart broke for Levi and all that he’s lost. He was a broken man that needed the right woman to bring him back to life.
While still searching for their missing sister, Levi runs into his biggest regret from the past. He loved her, but felt he needed to do the right thing when he found out someone else was having his baby. He felt obligated to try to make a family even though he had no feelings towards Charlotte. When his son dies at 6 months old, Levi will never be the same man again.
Harper is the one that got away. Even though  he left her without an explanation, she still extended open arms to him while they still try to find Claire. She eventually finds herself in so deep and wonders if its all real.
This story was absolutely incredible. I will be on the edge of my seat waiting for The Gunman to be released. This story just draws you in and you can’t get enough. I need more pronto. Shauna has truly created a world that immerses you into the story and you feel their joy and sorrow. Absolutely phenomenal job Shauna!!

Five brothers, one family tragedy, untold heartache. ~

The world callously moved on when my sister disappeared without a trace ten years ago.
My life—my family’s lives—froze in grief that torturous summer day.
My soul crumbled completely, a few years later, when I buried my son.
I survive the agony by hiding it neatly beneath my businessman façade and all the accolades that money can buy.
But Harper Devlin is my Achilles heel. The one who got away . . . with my broken heart.
Now she’s back and as irresistible as ever.
I shouldn’t want her. I can’t have her. But I need her.
And she needs me. I may have to conceal all my wounds just to survive being around her again, but I’m willing to do it to help her build her dreams and her business. It’s what I do. It’s what I know. I’m damn good at it.
My name is Levi Creed.
I am the Rainmaker.

***Reader note: This is the second of a 6-part emotional family saga series. Each story is 100% male first-person point-of-view, and while each full-length novel is guaranteed to have a complete HEA romance, their family mystery remains unsolved until the end of the series.

***Due to profanity and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Review – Somebody Else’s Sky by Jessica Hawkins

Somebody Else’s Sky by Jessica Hawkins

Sophie’s Review:

I’m not sure whether I love Jessica Hawkins right now or dislike her a lot. Because HOLY MAMA! That was one intense, powerful read.

Continuing on from Something In The Way, which wrecked me in the best possible way,  Somebody Else’s Sky only serves to up the angst, up the heartache and up the intensity. My heart and soul are WRUNG OUT! I feel like I’m free falling. BUT! Here’s the thing… I’d quite happily go right back to the start and begin ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!

That’s right, I said it! I would quite happily start afresh and relive all the heartbreak and devastation that these books deliver because IT IS THAT GOOD! And you know right before the 3rd book releases I will do just that.

I’m not going to comment on the storyline or what happens in this book, for fear of spoiling it. All I can say is read it, pick up both books, fall in love with the writing wizard that is Jessica Hawkins and simply lose yourself to the addictive power of this breathtaking story.

5 sensational stars!

If I closed my eyes, I could still see them—all blonde sunshine, ocean-blue eyes, and long limbs. The glint of Lake’s gold bracelet. Pink cotton candy on Tiffany’s tongue. My scenery may have changed from heaven to hell, but some things never would: my struggle to do right by both sisters. To let Lake soar. To lift Tiffany up. The sacrifices I made for them, I made willingly.

A better man would’ve walked away by now, but I never claimed to be any good. I only promised myself I’d keep enough distance. If I’d learned one thing from my past, it was that love came in different forms. You could love passionately, hurt deep, die young. Or you could provide the kind of firm, steady support someone else could lean on.

Lake was everything I wanted, and nothing I could ever have. I was nobody before I knew her and a criminal after. The way to love her was to let her shine—even if it would be for somebody else.

Book two in the Something in the Way series.

Review – Sexy Jerk by Kim Karr

Sexy Jerk by Kim Karr

Sophie’s Review:

Each and every time Kim Karr writes a book, I’m pretty sure I say it’s my new favourite of hers. Each book just gets better and better and I end up falling head over heels in love with them. And with this book, it’s no different. THIS IS Kim’s BEST BOOK to date! I don’t know how she does it but she swept me off my feet with this sinful, yet hella sweet romance!

I actually lost count of the amount of times I swooned or physically got butterflies. I lost count of the amount of times I thought to myself “I love this guy” and “where can I get me a Nick?”. Kim’s men are ALWAYS quality alpha hero’s but there was just something about Nick that gave him that edge, that made him become my FAVE Karr hero yet!

The sexual tension that Kim has poured into Sexy Jerk relays so, so well. You feel it bubbling, you feel it building. You feel it EXPLODE. Tess & Nick are incredibly HOT. Sooooo hot. But they are also sweet and sexy. And FUN, my gosh they made my heart swell and my constant smile hurt my face. Their witty banter and hilarious back and forth really solidified these two as one hell of a couple.

Sexy Jerk as I said at the start is Kim Karr’s best book yet. Sexy and sinful, sweet and full of swoon, it easily covers all the “contemporary romance” bases and then some!

My best friend is married.

Everyone I know is married. It doesn’t bother me. I like my life the way it is.

Since I’m single though, when my best friend and her husband finally decide to go on their dream honeymoon, she asks me to watch their three-year-old son.

Of course I say yes.

What my best friend neglects to tell me is that I won’t be babysitting alone.

Feeling Max might be too much for me to handle, her husband asks his only single friend to help.

Nick Carrington and I have met a couple of dozen times. I’ve never really given him a second thought—other than to say he’s kind of a jerk. Out loud. So he can hear. Sure, he’s tall, dark, and handsome. And yes, he has the best ass I’ve ever seen, and I mean ever seen quite literally. You see he mooned me at last year’s Fourth of July barbecue because, like I said, he’s a jerk.

He always has to be the life of the party.

He’s also arrogant.

Imposing.

Rich.

And a playboy.

I’d even go as far as to say he’s a manwhore.

Yet somehow before I know it, this manwhore and I are co-parenting. Living under the same roof. Eating meals together and yes, talking.

Don’t look at me like that—it’s not like I had a choice. Even though I knew every minute would be hell, I had to say yes.

But after two weeks what I didn’t expect to discover is that I’d been wrong about him.

That under his smart-ass exterior, he’s quite charming.

That his arrogance is really confidence.

And that the sight of his naked body would do really bad things to me.

So yes, I’d misjudged him. And yes, I like him. Really like him. Although I might still think he’s a jerk…I now think he’s a sexy jerk.

And I want more of him.

The question is—does he want more of me?

Review – All That I Am by Rachel Brookes

All That I Am Ebook Cover

Review graphic

Sasha Hamilton has everything that she could ever ask for – a thriving business, her dream home, a brother she adores and friends that are have become the family that she can depend on. After losing her mother at fifteen from a heartbreaking choice and then her father to his untimely death, Sasha has set up her walls and love is out of the question. One night stands have become the norm and all her energy is thrown into having a good time. That all changes when the sexy Monroe PD detective Ben Hunt and all his alpha bossiness comes into her life.

Ben Hunt has wanted Sasha Hamilton for as long as he can remember. He’s attracted to her sassy mouth, beautiful body and go for it all attitude. But under all that bravado, he knows her pain and has seen her insecurity. He wants past her walls, to protect her and give her everything that she has been missing out on since she was fifteen. When danger makes its way to the Hamilton family bar and a common enemy targets Sasha, Ben vows to do whatever it takes to keep Sasha safe and show her that love can truly heal a heart.

Oh, this book! So worth the wait… so worth all the agony, doubt and anxiety! All That I Am is one amazing read. There was no way to put this one down once I began reading. I devoured this beautiful love story. So many loves… the love between a girl and her big brother. The love between two very best friends. Who doesn’t want a best friend like Missy? The love of family made in the heart. But the most important love I saw was the love that Sasha was finally able to give to herself after building such high walls to protect herself. Amazing to see how easily that love changed everything and gave Sasha the courage to try.

Ben is… perfect. Bossy though he may be, he is everything that Sasha needs. He’s kind, protective and persistent. He has an incredible sense of humor. Yes, he is divine and so very swoony. He gave me a few jaw dropping moments. He gave me plenty of heart in my throat moments as well. No matter what he said or did, Ben made me smile and confirmed why he’s MY Ben.

This was one of the best reads of the year for me. It was long awaited… and even a little bit delayed in the last month. Regardless of the setbacks and bumps in the road on the way to release, Rachel has written a tremendous story filled with belly laughs, gut wrenching tears, surprising twists and turns and just a good old fashioned heartfelt love story. What a welcome to Monroe.

Brilliantly and beautifully done, Rachel!

A kickass home décor boutique – tick
A sassy mouth and absolutely no filter – tick
A wall so strong no man could ever tear it down – tick, tick, tick!

Or so I thought.

Until I meet Detective Ben Hunt, the owner of exquisite blue eyes, a god-like physique and a seductive smirk that makes me weak at the knees. He charges into my life like a force of nature. No matter how hard I try to keep the walls up around my heart, he’s made it his mission to shatter them. I have no chance of resisting him, but I would make sure I won this tug of war.

Which was what I wanted.

Right? When did the idea of losing myself to him start to sound so good?

I wish Ben was the only battle I faced. There’s a reason this small town needs a good detective. One way or another I’m going to have to brace for impact, because no wall I build can stop the new threat thundering toward Monroe.

After all, secrets only stay a secret for so long around here.

PROLOGUE

SASHA

Thirteen years earlier.

 “Mom! I’m home.”

Summer break had arrived, and all I could think about was lying out with Missy, shopping trips into the city with Mom, and spending Sundays dancing and causing underage havoc at my family’s bar, Hamilton’s.

I shrugged off my bag, dropped it on the couch, and then strolled through the house, listening for any signs of where my mom was.

As soon as I walked into the kitchen, I stopped. The familiar aroma of chocolate didn’t greet me, and my mom’s perfume didn’t linger in the air. I turned around quickly and looked to the counter where a fresh plate of brownies always sat on Friday afternoons. But today, for the first time, there was nothing.

I left the kitchen and searched the house.

Living room. Empty.

Dining room. Empty.

Bathroom. Empty.

Everywhere. Empty.

I began to panic. After school, I never arrived home to an empty house. Mom made it very clear that she’d always be here when Drew and I got home. For as long as I could remember, she’d told us that her favorite thing about being a Mom was being able to be home for us.

Now she wasn’t here.

“Sasha.”

I jumped at Dad’s voice calling my name behind me. I turned quickly, smiling, expecting to find Dad and Mom together. As soon as I saw him on his own, my smile fell. He stood in the foyer with his arms folded across his chest, and he didn’t look like my Dad. He looked like a shadow of himself. His eyes would always twinkle when he looked at me, but now they showed nothing but sadness.

“Where’s mom?” I asked as my heart raced.

“Come here, Sash,” Dad said low, his voice cracking.

Hesitantly, I moved toward him. When I was within reach, his hand shot out and grabbed mine and I was pulled toward him.

“Dad, what’s going on?”

We moved through the house in silence. Every step I took, my anxiety soared and my confusion grew. What was going on? Dad held open the back door, and I stepped out onto the porch. Drew leaned against the railing, looking out over the yard, but turned when he heard us arrive. His face was as blank as Dad’s.

I took a seat on the porch swing and held one of the yellow cushions Mom and I had purchased during one of our epic shopping trips close to my chest. “Where’s mom?” I asked softly. “What’s going on?”

If it were anyone else, including Dad, I would of thought he was at the store or at work, but not Mom. She was always here. Our family had traditions. Friday’s were our time.

Dad, Mom, Drew, and me.

“I love you more than anything, Sasha,” Dad said, his voice strangled with emotion and his eyes shimmering with tears. He sucked in a deep breath before saying the words that would forever change my life. “She’s gone, Baby Girl. She left.”

Gone.

Left.

His words hit me hard.

My throat closed as his words sunk in. The tormented look shadowing his face didn’t lie, but I didn’t want to believe it. I wanted to believe there was some kind of mistake, but why would my Dad lie to me about something like this? Gone and left were final. There was no mistaking what they meant.

“Baby Girl, did you hear me?”

“What do you mean she’s gone?” I stammered, as the first tear fell over my cheek.

Dad wrapped his arms around me and hauled me against his chest. The usual comfort his arms provided had no chance of healing the hurt spiraling through me.

There was no way she’d leave. Why would she have told me this morning that she breathed for us? That her heart beat for us. My mother was everything I dreamt of becoming, and now I was being told she was gone?

“This can’t be real.” I shook my head. “There has to be a mistake.” My voice became more frantic and louder with every word. “How do you even know she’s gone? Maybe she’s just at the store. Or popped into work.”

I was clutching onto anything that would lessen the pain tearing through me.

“She isn’t at the store.” Dad spoke softly. “She isn’t at Hamilton’s either.”

I tore myself away from Dad and ran back inside. I had to see for myself. I went into every room and found nothing. I hesitated outside my parent’s room and then slowly entered. The dresser was bare. Mom’s jewelry was gone, her favorite perfume gone, her lipstick gone. I stumbled into the closest and was smacked in the face with a brutal reality. Mom’s clothes, shoes, and her suitcase were gone.

Nothing was left.

Everything was gone.

Feeling numb, I walked into my room and lay on my bed. I buried my face in my pillow as the first sob left my chest. Tears saturated my pillow, and my chest ached from trying to catch my breath.

As I pulled the pillow closer, the crinkle of paper sounded. With shaking hands, I pulled out a folded piece of paper from beneath my pillow and held my breath as I saw my mom’s familiar handwriting. I inhaled sharply and unfolded it.

Baby girl,

Please never forget how much I love you. You will always be in my heart, and every breath I take is for you.

Forgive me,

Mom x

The words became blurry as fresh tears hit my eyes. Why would she do this? My mother chose to leave me? Why wasn’t I enough? My chest screamed at me. The pain was excruciating, and I felt like my heart was going to stop.

I didn’t hear my bedroom door open and didn’t know anyone was in my room until I felt my bed dip beside me.

“Squirt, come here,” Drew whispered as he grabbed my hand and pulled me against his body.

I went willingly to him and crashed against his chest. His arms circled me, and I cried against his shirt, soaking the cotton with hot, heartbreaking tears.

“How could she do this?” I choked out through another wave of tears. “What did we do wrong?”

“We did nothing. You did nothing wrong.” The strength in his voice made me look up at him. “We are the Hamilton kids. We will get through this. I promise you, Sasha.”

My brother. My protector.

“I’ll never let anything or anyone hurt you again. You have my word and my protection for life.”

I believed him.

I had to believe him.

Review- Completely Captivated by A.D. Justice

My rating is 6 out 5 stars

6 stars
This book was perfectly titled because I was Completely Captivated through the Whole story. It was a perfect mix of angst, heat, heartbreak, and the strongest love ever. Angel has just became one of my must read authors.
Christa had such an awful upbringing with a drug addict for a mother and a father who ran out on her. Despite it all, she still made something of herself owning her own successful cafés. One day Aaron Walks in and sweeps her off her feet. She doesn’t believe it’s real because no one has ever wanted her in her past.

Aaron was so unhappy in his job with his brother who bossed him around even though they were partners. When he stepped in that café and his eyes landed on Christa, he knew he had to have her and nothing would stop him.

They do have to deal with a childhood friend who Christa hasn’t seen in 7 years. He is back in town and his goal is to go after the woman he’s wanted for years.

One trip. One fall and Christa’s world is flipped upside down. You can’t help but feel for her. She was strong though. I was feeling her pain and was so Happy when everything came together the way it was supposed to.

Aaron Rivers

Christa was the exact opposite of every woman who’d shared my bed for a night.

All I could think about was getting to know her intimately. She completely captivated me.

Then, as usual, I screwed up everything.

My life. Her life. Our love.

Now her old crush is back in town, and he set his sights on Christa. But she’s mine. I’ll be damned if he gets her.

I will win her back before he wins her over.

Christa Lanes

Aaron breezed into my coffee shop and right into my heart.

He was gorgeous, confident, and sexy.

Out of all the women who threw themselves at him, he wanted me.

Against my better judgment, I took a chance.

Then he took our new life away.

When I was at my darkest, my lifelong friend Jared pulled me through, only to tell me he wants to take Aaron’s place.

But can I give my heart to Jared when Aaron already stole it?

The moonlight shone directly through her bedroom window, casting its silvery light across her naked body. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears that she quickly blinked back. My hands reached out to her and cupped her face to kiss her deeply. I tasted the faint sweetness of alcohol. With my intensity increased, I poured every bit of my love into the kiss, willing her to feel it and take her fill of it. I gently pushed on her shoulders, silently instructing her to sit, and then I helped her move up to the head of the bed.

I started at her feet, kissing, licking, sucking, and nipping my way up and down each leg. I took my time loving her, worshiping her entire body, and pouring my whole heart into her. Then I worked my way back up her leg, stopping momentarily at her core to meet her gaze. My chest clenched at her expression. It was a mixture of the worst pain, the purest bliss, and the deepest love I’d ever seen. That expression would haunt me—later. I’d berate myself for causing her so much pain and confusion, but for as long as she’d let me stay, my sole focus was to make her feel better.

I dipped my head and sucked her clit into my mouth. She gasped and grasped my hair in her fingers. Intermittently, I sucked on it lightly then gently ran my tongue over, under, and around it repeatedly. I moved slowly at first, savoring her natural flavor and every sound of approval she made. The intensity inside her was building to massive levels. She was so close but not quite there yet—but she would be there many times before I was done.

“I fucking love how you taste. And the sounds you make. The way your tiny fists pull my hair just before you come. Your breathy voice when you scream my name.” Her body melted under my touch, my words only adding to her need for more.

I increased the suction on her clit then scraped my teeth across it. Her hips bucked upward involuntarily. Her grip on my hair increased, slightly tugging on it and pulling me closer to her at the same time. Her hungry moans were sexy enough to push me over the edge before she even touched me, but I retrained my focus on her pleasure.

I wrapped my arms under and around her legs and pulled her core to my mouth, and I hungrily lapped her up. After a quick dart of my tongue in and out of her pussy before rolling it inside her, she almost sat straight up from the intensity. When she fell back against the pillows, I continued assaulting all her senses. My hot, wet tongue found her nub once again before my lips closed around it and my finger thrust into her waiting entrance.

As I pushed it in, her moans became louder and her grip became tighter. I deliberately moved my finger in and out of her at a leisurely pace. The need to see her almost matched my need to have her, so I raised my eyes to watch her. Her neck was arched back, her eyes welded shut, and her mouth was agape, with her sexy moans involuntarily escaping at my ministrations. With an added second finger filling and stretching her, I increased the pressure and crooked them to catch the spot that sent her over the edge.

“Aaron,” she screamed, and it was the sweetest music.

I pressed on until she rode the last wave of her orgasm and soaked my hand. When I pulled my fingers out of her, she opened her eyes in time to see me put them in my mouth and lick her essence off them. Her lips parted and her eyes widened. The pulse in her neck jumped in time with her pounding heart. She tried to pull me to her, but I gently nudged her back down, silently shaking my head side to side.

Her responding grumble made me smile against her skin as I continued licking, nipping, and sucking my way up her stomach and ribs until I reached her breasts. The stubble of my unshaven jaw rubbed against her soft skin, leaving light red abrasions like they were my own personal branding iron. My possessive side appreciated the fact that her skin held my mark. She was mine, after all, and I was determined to win her back. When I reached her breasts, I took one into my mouth, sucking and biting on her nipple while my hand kneaded her other breast. My thumb and middle finger closed around the taut peak of her nipple, and I continued my double assault on her. Her fingers gripped my shoulders and back, her nails dug into my skin in response to the powerful sensations.

“Aaron,” she panted.

I raised my head to meet her eyes, yet I was afraid to speak the words that were on the tip of my tongue. Afraid the words would break the spell, and she’d tell me to leave. That she’d realize this wasn’t just a dream she’d later wake up from and instantly regret her middle-of-the-night phone call.

“Aaron, if you don’t take me now, I will leave and find someone else who will!”

Her words struck a chord in the hidden chasms of my mind. I knew her declaration was part bluff and all frustration, but that very thought had tormented me countless times every night. The thought spurred me to speak my mind, my response leaving no room for discussion or argument.

“The. Hell. You. Will. You are mine, Christa. For better or for worse. Till death do us part. And it’ll be over my dead fucking body that any other man touches you–or it’ll be his fucking death.” I meant every word of it.

Her eyes widened in surprise, studying my face and partly losing the glazed look of desire. I sensed my fear was about to come true—she was on the verge of realizing our rendezvous was a huge mistake and making me leave. So I decided to finish what she asked me to start. I aligned the head of my cock at the entrance of her wet core then slowly pushed into her, giving her body time to adjust to my size.

Once I’d pushed in to the hilt, burying myself fully inside her, I curled my hips and thrust slightly harder into her. I straightened my arms and looked directly into her eyes, holding hers captive. The glazed look returned to her eyes, and her hands moved to my chest, gripping, holding, and stroking me as I thrust into her harder and harder.

When she closed her eyes, I immediately issued an order. “Open your eyes and look at me. See me, Christa. You were made for me and only me. You are like a finely tuned violin, custom-made to be played only by my hands. Your body wraps around and fits me perfectly. I know every sound you make, when your breathing changes, and only I can give you what your body craves. I am the only man who can answer its call. You. Belong. To. Me. And I belong to you.” I kept my voice low and let it flow across the air between us. Her inner walls quivered and squeezed me as her body shuddered at my words.

I pulled her legs up, wrapped my arms behind her knees, and increased the angle and depth of my penetration. Christa grasped at the sheets, writhing beneath me in sheer ecstasy. Harder and harder, I thrust into her over and over until her orgasm completely took her over the edge. When she screamed out my name again, I felt her tightness squeezing around me, holding me inside her and milking me for everything I have. I gladly gave it to her, emptying myself deep inside her and groaning with complete satisfaction as I said, “You have all of me.”

Review- Goaltending by Jami Davenport

My rating is 5 out of 5 stars

When I first started reading this, I did not like Brick at all. I thought he was such an arrogant playboy who cared only about himself. As the story evolved I started feeling emotional with him, and by the end he had me in tears, happy ones!

When a playboy hockey player is single and does nothing but party and sleep with countless women, gets a knock on his door, his whole life gets flipped upside down. He has a 5 year old daughter that was left on his doorstep with a note. He has no clue what to do.

She develops an immediate connection to Macy, but Brick found it harder to find that connection so he avoided the situation. The road they travel is hard and connections begin to form, but Brick’s childhood hangups have him wanting to run and avoid it all.

I’ll tell you, I thought I was going to give this book a 4 star rating, but by the time I got to the end and was crying tears of joy, I knew all 3 of them had stolen my heart as well.

EXCERPT:

Poppy

I rounded the corner at the end of my block and came to a halt. The puppy took that as a sign that we were done playing outside and started jumping all over my lower legs and pawing at my shins. He whined at me until I picked him up, and as soon as he could reach my face, his little tongue started darting all over my chin and cheeks. I wondered if he could feel the tension that made my limbs stiff and the anxiety that tightened all my muscles. I felt my breath catch in the back of my throat and there was no stopping my eyes from rapidly blinking to make sure what I was seeing was real and not a figment of my imagination.

He looked like one of those black-and-white art prints that hung in every diner and restaurant I’d ever eaten in. The one that was a throwback to another era when cool was something you had to cultivate and couldn’t buy on Amazon. He was leaning against a black-and-silver car that looked like it should be on the cover of a hot-rod magazine and not parked on a busy and crowded Capitol Hill street. He had on dark jeans and a dark canvas jacket that had the logo of his garage embroidered on the front. His ankles were crossed on the curb in front of him and one booted foot bounced up and down, giving the impression that he’d been waiting for me for a while. His arms were crossed over his chest and his eyes were locked on mine as I stood still, unsure what to do. He had an effortless kind of charisma that radiated off of him. It was equal parts intimidating and irresistible. I was unsure if my feet wanted to rush me toward him or run me as far from him as possible.

The puppy made the decision for me. Seeing another human, and thus another opportunity for pats and rubs, he threw his wiggling little body out of my arms before I could react. He hit the ground with a little yelp and then bolted right for Wheeler. I let out a gasp and took off after him thinking I could catch the end of the leash that was trailing behind him. I didn’t want him to run into the road or veer off into a yard where he didn’t belong. I was light-years away from being able to handle a confrontation with a hostile stranger that didn’t want the puppy in their space.

I didn’t need to worry because Wheeler pushed his long, lean frame off the polished side of the car and reached the scrambling animal within just a few strides. He crouched down as the puppy hurled himself into his arms and scooped the excited bundle up in one fluid motion. Then he was rising back up to his full height, which meant he was towering over me when I made my way over to where he was standing. I was embarrassed at how out of breath I was. I was supposed to be stronger than I was before, but I could hardly handle a little jog up the block or the way my heart raced at the sight of him.

I shook my head and put my hands on my hips as I looked up and into those arctic eyes. He was scratching the puppy under the chin and looking at me from under lashes that had the barest hint of red to them. “Why don’t you have a coat on?”

It wasn’t what I was expecting but his question reminded me that I was cold and that the lightweight hoodie that had the Saints of Denver logo on it wasn’t doing much to keep the bitter chill in the air off my skin. The shirt came from the tattoo shop where both Rowdy and Salem worked and was probably the most exciting garment I had in my closet. It was the only thing I owned that was bright and colorful. I rubbed my arms up and down and fired my own question right back at him. “What are you doing here?”

The puppy barked like he was telling me not to be rude but I was unsettled by Wheeler’s unexpected appearance, and not the typical unsettled that I struggled with because he was a man that I didn’t know. It was the kind of unsettled that made parts of my body I forget could react to an attractive man feel warm and tingly. The kind of unsettled that had me involuntarily leaning closer to him as he started to shift so that he could pull his heavy jacket off one arm without letting go of the dog.

“I wanted to talk to you about the dog. Did you find someone to take him yet?” He shifted the puppy to his now bare arm as I watched the endless amounts of ink that covered his skin move and flex as he shook his other arm free of the coat.

“Uh…not really.” The truth was I hadn’t really put that much effort into finding someone because I didn’t want to let the puppy go. In just a few days I’d grown surprisingly attached even though I knew I wasn’t allowed to keep him in my apartment. I’d already asked since Dixie was allowed to keep Dolly, but the landlord informed they were grandfathered in before the laws surrounding pit bulls in Denver changed. My little guy wasn’t that lucky.

My response made Wheeler chuckle. He stared at me silently as he held out the coat he’d taken off in his free hand.

“Put this on.” I stared at him like he’d suddenly started speaking Russian until he shook the coat again and frowned at me. His voice was serious and left no room for argument when he repeated the command. “Put this on, Poppy.”
