“Let us not seek the Republican answer, or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us now seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us fix our responsibility for the future.” ~John F. Kennedy

Growing up in the D.C. suburbs of Virginia, I could not help but live and breathe politics—whether I wanted to or not. Only a couple of presidents have made me feel good about America, both from opposing parties, as party has never played a big part for me compared to issues. So many candidates feed us broken promises and are all ‘smoke and mirrors.’ Somehow in the past several years, I lost faith in politics and the presidency…until I met Mr. President, a book by Katy Evans that blew me and my anti-political mind away.

I ditched my dislike for politics, opening my heart and mind fully, as I offered all of myself to Mr. President. I gave my heart and soul to this story—as if I had a choice—for it to be stolen as it sank into a world of politics, parading through everything and everywhere DC. Katy Evans wrote a mind-blowing and magical masterpiece in Mr. President, a politically-powered romance that put me on the campaign trail where I fell in love with everything politics.

From the very first page, Mr. President enraptured me as I quickly became entangled in this engaging and electric story. Politics…power…potential love?!? I was ALL IN!!! I wanted to wait…taking my time to soak up every powerful and poignant word of Mr. President. I wanted to rush…tearing through these pages like the adrenaline from this thrilling tale coursed through me. I climbed Mr. President like Mount Everest with a deep hunger, a desire so high that I did not want to come up for air. Mr. President quickly became my addiction. My ache. My adrenaline. MY ALL.

My emotions were amplified—a fusion of hope, heartbreak, and happiness—as hope was on the highest alert. Mr. President rapidly caught fire, heating me up, sending an unexpected rush as this story bled into me. The characters in Mr. President claimed me, captivated me, and catapulted me into their lives—this political whirlwind of an adventure—where I wanted to follow this president-elect on his campaign, living and breathing everything politics. This story sparked to life as magic poured from the pages, casting Mr. President in a glow as powerful as the presidency. Shortly into this intoxicating and inspiring tale, Mr. President already had my vote.

“I really hadn’t realized how much we missed a strong leader, an inspiring leader, until every time I stare at the one I want. He could make such a difference. A man like him could make such a difference.”

The gorgeous dark-haired and dark-eyed Matthew ‘Matt’ Hamilton has been the beautiful red-haired and blue-eyed Charlotte Wells’ crush since she first met him at her home along with his father, the President of the United States, when she was only eleven. While Matt was visiting, Charlotte, daughter of Senator Wells, even jokingly stated she would help the President’s son with his campaign if Matt ever ran for office. Flash forward over ten years later and Charlotte realizes her prediction may just be on its and his way to a presidency.

“He is so gorgeous I bet every woman watching wants him to father all of her babies, put those lips on nobody but her, and use those eyes to look at nobody else…This god. The Prince of America. Has decided to run for president?”

Mr. President Teaser 3.png

Charlotte has never stopped believing in Matt, her childhood crush and man, who as a boy, inspired her upon just one meeting. When asked to cash in on her promise with a premier spot on Matt’s campaign, Charlotte is shocked but excited to help make Matt’s dream come to life.

“Maybe I can help. I believe in him. I believe he’s better than any of the options they’ve been tossing around on TV.”

Charlotte doesn’t realize that the aura of awe she felt upon meeting Matt both at a young age and at his campaign party is mutual; Matt is smitten with this wonderful woman too.

“You can’t say Charlotte is beautiful, she’s too stunning for that. You just don’t forget a face like hers…Despite being raised as a senator’s daughter, she’s so far been untouched by political scandal…she loves the presidency—and she always has.”

Despite trying to remain professional, the chemistry is electric, on fire, burning bright like a halo of fire surrounding them. Mr. President, or America’s Panty-melting and Passionate Prince, is PURE PERFECTION. His dirty talk sparks heat that lights up the pages, the hot and heated banter between Charlotte and Matt igniting into more.

“I made your nipples hard that day at the campaign kick-off too.”

“Oh wow. Well my nipples weren’t the only things getting hard that day, I’d say.”

“You don’t know the half of it.”

mr-president-teaser

A current crashes through the air, circling them like a cloud of dust, an attraction that’s becoming too powerful to ignore. An attraction deeper than looks; one that delves straight to the soul.

“Matt…looks at me. Just looks at me. So intently and like he can see everything that I am, have ever been, and ever will be.”

Their friendship is raw and real, a friendship catching fire, one where hopefully they won’t get burned. I want this couple, connected by fate, to cross that friendship line. They are perfect together with similar backgrounds and opportunists wanting to make America greater.

“Every thought in my head scatters to nothing when he swoops down and takes my mouth with his. Everything falls away.”

mr-president-teaser-2

I felt that intense kiss surge from the story straight to me. Oh my wow! Charlotte has no choice to surrender to this passion that permeates between Matt and her, pouring off the pages where I felt this passion too.

“I look forward to having a major hard-on the day you call me Mr. President.”

“I groan when her breath catches, getting one last taste of her and one last feel of her sex clenching around my finger as I drive it inside. I’m playing with fire and I don’t care.”

Mr. President Teaser 4.png

The kiss is fueled by the flames, creating an inferno that once ignited, may create a forever burn. Chemistry entrenched by fate…always there…unbreakable…unstoppable.

“I breathe to help him win—even if that means I won’t ever, ever feel his arms around me like this…He belongs to America now. He always has. I need to stop this before we get in too deep…to the point of no return.”

Winning will take everything. Winning can’t afford distractions. Winning means keeping your head in the presidency game. Despite a friendship and fireworks fused by fate, the relationship must stop before it really started. Matt needs to focus on the presidency sans scandals, and Charlotte doesn’t want to be the scandal to stop this amazing man from becoming this nation’s leader, a shining star that the country needs to become brighter.

Katy Evans’ Mr. President penetrated my heart, hijacking it…hijacking me. My heart pounded out of my chest. I was a prisoner to these passionate pages that pounded that passion straight to me…through me. Intoxicating and incredible, I could not help but become besotted with this book that blasted big dreams through me. I FELL HARD. I FELL FAST. I FELL IN LOVE WITH EVERYTHING MR. PRESIDENT.

Mr. President is so much more than a politically-powered romance; it’s hope for the future of America. Mr. President should be every president’s bible. If every president could be non-partisan and positive like Matt Hamilton, voting would be a seamless. Matt Hamilton, while a fictional president, should be real, a model for every campaign and one that would make America’s forefathers beam with pride.

“For years the public has come to believe every promise made by every candidate has been pure bulls**t. Nobody believes in them anymore. Politics has been totally tainted by propaganda…America wants a change. America wants to grow. America wants to be young and powerful again.”

In a story that’s so much more than its title, Mr. President bled a passion for politics that penetrated the anti-political me, making me believe again. Mr. President is about dreaming big. Mr. President is about positive and passionate politics full of promise, something lost decades ago in our great country. I was rendered breathless at times in this book that’s a breath of fresh air—so full of life—as Mr. President is full of passion, power and possibility.

Katy Evans painted Mr. President to perfection in a book that’s sheer brilliance from beginning to end. How can you not love a gorgeous alpha who is the perfect mix of panty-melting and passionate who happens to be running for president? How can you not admire a beautiful gal from inside-out whose passion for the presidency is bigger than life? How can you not love a book that makes you dare to dream about politics that are pure and positive? MR. PRESIDENT IS EVERYTHING!!!

SO MUCH GOODNESS. SO MUCH PASSION. SO MUCH PERFECTION. I can’t wait for Mr. President to continue captivating and claiming me. I VOTE YES TO MR. PRESIDENT…AGAIN AND AGAIN.

synopsis.jpg

He’s won the hearts of millions. But is he willing to lose his?

I met the president’s son when we were both young. Matthew Hamilton was handsome, polished, and intelligent. I’d never met a guy like him.

He promised me that he’d never run for president. I promised that if he did, I’d be by his side.

Three terms later, an invitation to join Matthew Hamilton’s campaign is the most exhilarating opportunity I’ve ever experienced. I’m determined to make a difference; he is determined to win.

Focused on his goal, Matt is steadfast, ruthless, and disarming. All eyes are on him and his popularity is surging. But soon, the next possible president of the United States is possessing me in more ways than one—and despite the risks, I’m helpless to resist.

We’re stealing touches, stealing moments, and stealing away at night. But our chemical connection is quickly becoming dangerously combustive, putting not only my heart, but Matt’s chance at the presidency on the line.

Winning will take everything. Walking away will be the hardest thing of all.

Review – Say You Want Me by Corinne Michaels

Say You Want Me by Corinne Michaels

karens-review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

True love is always worth fighting for.

The best books are like love. Stories cast a seductive spell on us, stealing our heart and soul, as we float around on Cloud Nine. Say You Want Me did not even have to hijack my heart and soul; I willingly surrendered them to this spellbinding story where my head is stuck in the clouds in the best book haze as I’m still swooning long after the last page. I gave my heart to Say You Want Me where it still remains, likely bound to this story forever. I gave my soul to this story—as if I had a choice—for it to be sucked in like a breath of fresh country air, pulling me under, where I could not help but FALL FAST IN LOVE. Say You Want Me is Corinne Michaels’ latest roller coaster of a romance, one where I felt every twist and turn of my heart as it traveled on a riveting ride of swoon and sorrow.

This book began with a bang where my feelings were free-falling fast and hard. I WAS ALL IN! Say You Want Me swiftly stomped on my heart with the force of a stampede of horses where I could not help but devour the pages with a voracious hunger, drowning in them like my last breath. This book is beauty in words that bled tears…WORDS…that rendered me so full of FEELS where I felt every word penetrate me with passion. Every word was pure wonder. Every word meant the world. Every word quickly became my world. EVERY WORD WAS EVERYTHING.

Say You Want Me is a good old-fashioned heartfelt romance with a modern twist. This story sparked to life as magic poured from the pages, casting Say You Want Me in a glow as powerful as the sunset. I was elated to return to the country town of Bell Buckle Tennessee, portrayed so vividly where I felt like I was there with this family of characters who quickly captivated and claimed me as they came to life, becoming my world yet again. I suspected from the last book that Wyatt Hennington was the brother who would forever hold my heart the hardest and oh did he make me fall hard for him.

The beautiful, blonde, and deep blue-eyed Angie Benson, Presley ‘soon to be’ Hennington’s best friend, had one hot night with Wyatt Hennington while visiting Presley in Bell Buckle, Tennessee from Philadelphia. When Angie woke up, Wyatt was gone that morning, and Angie never heard from the hot heartbreaker again.

“He played me as if I were his personal instrument. Every touch, every kiss, every swipe of his glorious tongue was done just to please me. I don’t know how I managed to walk out of there. He rocked my world and then was gone before I woke up.”

Wyatt haunts Angie’s head; she can’t get him off her mind. She wants him…she loathes him. It’s one conundrum. When she finds herself back in Bell Buckle again, she will have the face the man who’s haunted her dreams and makes her body tingle at a mere thought.

“I turn and come face-to-face with the flashing smile, honey-colored eyes, and brown hair I’ve dreamed of. Wyatt Hennington stands before me in a pair of fitted jeans and a black shirt, and he’s looking at me with heat in his gaze. Everything inside me clenches.”

Dark-haired, honey-eyed, and inked Wyatt, the biggest and most muscular of the three Hennington brothers, is a lethal mix of all alpha male and gentle giant. Smart, sexy, and funny, Wyatt is the whole package.

“..I didn’t want you to leave, Angie Benson…I liked having you next to me…the next time you’re in my bed with your blonde hair on my pillow, you should stay there…I wanted you to stay.”

This country boy made me swoon, his sexy, seductive, and soul-filled words sent me on a ship to Swoon Land where I sunk under his spell. This man is pure perfection. I was OWNED by Wyatt. I was owned by Say You Want Me.

“The sex was explosive, but more than that…I was drawn to her like I haven’t been with anyone else. She lit me up and then left me burning.”

That night was a giant misunderstanding; wasted time. Now they have time to figure out if that night could turn into something more. Do Wyatt and Angie have more sizzle than just under the sheets?

“I lose track of time as he kisses me as if I’m his reason for living.”

Those kisses melt from the pages, penetrating that passion right to me as I felt it too. Those lifetime kisses that you know will lock you to love for life.

“What if you realize that I’m the best man on the planet and you can’t live without me? Give this a chance.”

SYWM Teaser 2.jpg

Wyatt hasn’t been with a woman since Angie blasted her way into his life in one explosive night, lighting fireworks to his body and heart.

“I already know that the sexual chemistry between us if off the charts. Now, we need to see if the rest of what we’re going for has a chance.”

sywm-teaser-1

Angie has seen love die all around her; her heart is guarded with a fortress of steel, walls that have never been broken. Though one determined cowboy is prepared to fight, to claim his city girl who already has his heart.

“He’s the kind of guy I want to want me. He’s strong, sexy, caring, and so much more…Wyatt makes me feel alive. He’s excavated the parts of me I’ve buried under sarcasm and attitude, the girl who wants a man to love her. But fairytales don’t come true. People die. And I’m destined to be forgotten.”

Love is a battlefield and sometimes you have to fight for what you believe in, fight for the other person, fight for love. Wyatt is going to have to work hard if he wants to make this city gal his lady. The entire town of Bell Buckle is rooting for romance between two stubborn and passionate people: Big City and her Rhinestone Cowboy. Wyatt is going to have to bring out the big guns to claim Angie as his queen before the clock strikes midnight and this City Cinderella flees home to Philadelphia.

“Make no mistake—you’ll want me. I’m making damn sure of it.”

sywm-teaser-4

Intoxicating and incredible, I could not help but become besotted with this book that entangled my emotions around every character, every place, every page, every word, and every feel as each explosive emotion made me fall harder and harder for Say You Want Me.

Say You Want Me?!? YES…I’ll say it: I WANT YOU!!!

I want Wyatt, my new favorite Hennington. I fell so deeply in love with this amazing man. Wyatt’s story made me swoon so hard where my soul soared into the clouds. I LOVED THIS STORY SO MUCH!!! Say You Want Me melted me into mush, melding itself into my heart, hijacking it…hijacking me. I was a prisoner to these passionate pages that pounded that passion straight through me. This book broke me in the best way.

Say You Want Me BLEW ME AWAY!!!

Say You Want Me is not simply a broken and beautiful romance; it’s a story about LIFE AND LIVING. It’s about taking that LEAP OF FAITH…LIVING FOR THE MOMENT…LIVING LIFE NOW. EVERY WORD MATTERS that Corinne Michaels pens to life. Penned like paint to a canvas, so vivid and valuable, Say You Want Me is one of those books that THAT STEAL MY SOUL AND OWN ME FOR LIFE.

I WAS UTTERLY OWNED in this swoon-filled and soul-searing story. Say You Want Me WAS EVERYTHING!!!

Say You Want Me stole my heart and soul in a breathtakingly beautiful tale of hard-fought love that rendered me breathless. I want this whole frickin’ fairytale full of feels. I want to feel this story again and again. Corinne Michaels is one of those wondrous writers of books that break you, bind you, and brandish themselves to you in a bath of beauty where you’ll remember them forever. I’m still blown away as I bask in the most beautiful hangover, my head stuck in the clouds, where I want to remain forever.

There’s no way I’ll fall for Wyatt Hennington.

He can keep his Southern drawl, irresistible smile, and those pick-up lines all to himself. I made the mistake of sleeping with him not once, but twice. I’m not stupid enough to give him round three, especially after he left me in the middle of the night so I could see myself out. I vow to return to Philadelphia and forget him.

It proves easier said than done.

When the doctor informs me I’m the winner of door prize number two, I put my life on hold and head back to Bell Buckle. Three months and if we can’t make this work, I’m gone.

The problem is—when the cards are stacked against us, and I can’t bring myself to leave him, I’ll finally know if he truly loves me or if all my fears were real . . .

Review – Mr. Rebound by Kat T. Masen

Mr Rebound is a fun, fast read, with wicked hot sex and intense flirty tension.

If there is one thing you can guarantee while reading a Kat Masen book it’s her hero’s. I find it impossible not to love the hero’s Kat writes, Noah was no different and despite being the biggest douche ever at the start my heart still thumped really hard and I found myself falling for him, big time, during this book.

Unfortunately, I found connecting with Morgan REALLY HARD. Yes her character is meant to be cold and hard and I get it now that I know her story in full BUT I still found it hard to fully like her. Morgan and Noah TOGETHER are fierce and so damn hot, I had to fan myself a few times but I didn’t always feel their loving connection nearer the end, because of Morgan.

My vision could also be clouded because of Kate, the quirky best friend of Noah who I loved immediately, give the woman a book, because I’d devour that baby whole.

What Kat has done with Mr. Rebound is seriously so fun. Watching Noah fall in love was refreshing and I actually felt really smug that Mr Rebound himself could eventually feel and want more. Kat wrote Noah’s fall superbly. The basic storyline of Mr Rebound was also really great, fun and not what I expected at all.

Four sexy, fun stars.

Moving across the country was supposed to be a fresh start. I’d made mistakes, but I told myself I’d no longer prey on emotionally unstable women. I don’t do relationships—I’m a selfish bastard that enjoys not answering to anyone—and relationships mean being with only one woman. More often than not, one that carries emotional baggage, like cheating exes or worse—kids.

After landing myself in trouble, again, my cousin Charlie dared me to settle down with one woman. I’m not one to shy away from a dare, so I chose Scarlett Winters, the most wanted actress in Hollywood. The sexiest woman on Earth.

I just needed to get past the roadblock—her assistant, Morgan Bentley.

The wicked bitch of the west.

Between her multiple personalities and the giant stick up her ass, I should’ve seen it coming. I’d been with enough women to read the signs. Morgan Bentley was after one thing, and one thing only. A rebound.

That’s me, right?

Mr Rebound.

But what if this time I wanted more?

Review – Addicted by Alex Lucian

Welp, I wasn’t expecting that! I mean, who knew that when we met Elias in Nathan & Adele’s story he’d be my new favourite?! Who knew his story would be so passionate, so raw, so utterly captivating? Well I didn’t, but after reading Addicted, I feel addicted, hung up, on everything this book was and is and the glorious feels it produces.

Addicted, follows suit and fits into the Tempting series impeccably. Alex Lucian once again has penned a insanely hot story that left me breathless a few too many times. With each book Alex has injected MORE. More humour, more feeling, more passion, more sex, more energy. Just MORE and it’s so effing good.

Elias and Ruby are sinful. Their whole bond is a combination of lusty, dirty, wicked sex and intense, passionate love. While reading Addicted, I got CHILLS. GOOD CHILLS. Chills that creep ever so slowly up the spine and then EXPLODE and BURN, coursing through like a raging inferno. Alex definitely knows how to write ridiculously A-MAZING alphas, men that are so freaking hot but so damn sweet. Elias is the epitome of sexy, sweet and HOT. He’s the epitome of ALPHA MALE for me. And he has a beard! I mean COME ON!! As if he couldn’t get any better… *flails*.

Alex also knows how to write insanely sexy women, that are strong and super kick ass! Ruby is just YES! That’s how I felt about her, I wanted to high 5 her. Even in the time when she was vulnerable, all I wanted to do was celebrate her.

I LOVED this story, loved the burn, loved falling in love with the characters that had one of the best connections I’ve read. I loved  everything, from beginning to end. Addicted has implanted itself in my heart, next to my pulse and into my veins. My name is Sophie and I’m Addicted.

Addiction: the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming.

Ruby was sin and sex.

The ultimate indulgence and worth every penny she cost me. I paid for her body, but didn’t know she’d end up embedded in my soul.
Elias was dark and tempting.

Unmatched in intensity and passion compared to my other clients. He handed me cash in exchange for my touch, and he dug himself into my heart instead.

Money changes things, firms up the lines of a relationship. But when it becomes an addiction—an all-consuming, life-changing addiction—the lines are completely obliterated.

Review – Tonic by Staci Hart

You know? I always find it hard to review good books. The books that pull at you, elicit the biggest emotions, the books that leave you in the happiest place – bookworm heaven. THOSE kind of books are the absolute hardest to review. It’s no secret that I am a huge Hart fan. It’s no secret that with each book Hart releases my love for her gets stronger. Know why? Because Hart has a distinctive way of telling stories. Hart tells stories that are full of emotion and realism, character and connection. Hart pours herself into her words resulting in those words then pouring into me and it’s the best feeling, honestly every time I pick up a Hart book, I know I’m going to get a full reading experience. Do I ever worry that her next book won’t compare to the last? No, I don’t. Because each and every Hart book is different, each and every character is different, each and every storyline is fresh and cannot be compared, shouldn’t be compared. I trust Staci and her writing, I trust that she’ll make it an experience I won’t forget and that’s why she’s one of my favourite authors and will continue to be while she puts pen to paper, or fingers to keys.

Harts latest masterpiece is Tonic. Joel and Annika’s story, and oh my wow, what a story it is. From beginning to end I have lived and breathed these characters wanting them in my head, my heart and fixed permanently under my skin. And they are, and they’ll stay, deeply inscribed forever like the most perfectly beautiful tattoo.

At just 16% I got the tingles. You know the ones. Those feelings that set up your soul, those feelings that sizzle right beneath your skin, setting off goosebumps and butterflies. Those feelings of utter bliss and love over what you’re reading. Those tingles! I got them and I felt them strongly. What developed after that can only be described as pure bookworm pleasure.

Joel and Annika’s relationship is fire and ice. Hot and cold. A delicious push and pull. It’s strength and love, weakness and hate all rolled into a perfectly pristine package of angst and brilliance. At 36% everything exploded. That delicious angst detonated into searing heat and left me breathless. Joel is one wicked, dirty, hairy b**tard. He’s utter sin, wrapped in perfection. Everything about him set me alight, from the raw visceral animal side of him to the deep swoony side that stole EVERYTHING from me. Annika, the ice to Joel’s fire. So hard and cold and strong but so utterly real and believable. I loved her, her persistence, her sassiness, her boldness that set her apart from any other. The polar opposite to Joel but more perfect than anything I could have imagined.

If you’ve read a Hart novel before you know that Staci has a way of wrapping you up in the softest blanket while her words break you down and embed themselves deep in your heart and her characters become your friends, people you love, but all the while you know that something will come and blow it all apart taking you down with it. In Tonic, the boom of the bomb she drops is really painful. It’s loud and rips the blanket and your heart to smithereens. And it left me a mess. A total blubbering mess filled with my own anger and desperation. But through the cold, the heat always wins and Staci, piece by piece, put my heart back together, slowly but surely, she made me smile through tears. She made my heart sing through raw devastation and she set my soul ablaze though love.

At 92% I never wanted Tonic to end. I never wanted to leave the world of Joel and Annika. I don’t really think I ever will. I’m sure they will remain deep in me alongside all of Hart’s previous characters.

Tonic left me breathless, it made my heart ache and burn yet sing with the raw, realness of its words. It was everything I wanted and more. It was fire and ice, hot and cold..practically perfect in every way.

Joel Anderson doesn’t take anything seriously.
Not his relationships, which have been few and far between since his brutal divorce. Not the drama of working in a tattoo parlor, which seems to be around every corner. When things get him down, he smiles and cracks a joke. But he’s not the kind of man you cross, or you’ll find yourself at the wrong end of his fists.

Annika Belousov takes everything seriously.

Like her job as a reality television producer, given that she typically has something to prove. Or her love life, which is defined by a series of requirements — affluent, ambitious, accomplished, to name a few. Definitely her family, who worked their whole lives to afford her every opportunity, a sacrifice she doesn’t take lightly. When she’s tapped to produce a reality show at Joel’s shop, she doesn’t think twice, just goes in for the kill, as if there were any other way.

The second Annika walks into Joel’s shop, he makes it his mission to crack her open, but she’s not having it. He’s all wrong — too crass, too hairy, too un-serious. But it doesn’t take her long to find out there’s more to him than smirks and tattoos. And what she finds could put her career and his heart on the line.

Not that Joel cares. Because for the first time in a long time, he’s found his tonic.

Review – A Love Letter to Whiskey by Kandi Steiner

“Love is the most powerful and real emotion we feel, and I think it’s sort of magical that we can experience some of the greatest loves of all time through books.” B, A Love Letter To Whiskey <- THIS! SO MUCH THIS

It’s taken me 7 hours to read ALLTW, taking three breaks where I had to put down the book because the emotion ran so deep, so strong. During those 3 breaks I found myself ugly crying, taking in big, deep breaths and holding my heart in place, because this book RIPPED ME APART! Kandi yanked out my heart, squeezed it, trampled on my soul and then burnt it. To ash! Sounds awful right? WRONG! That burning, trampled soul is now singing, bathing in the pain it endured and loving it!

From the moment I started reading I too succumbed to the devastating effects of Whiskey and found myself so addicted I COULD NOT let go. From beginning to end I have been launched into one of the fiercest, intense, passionate reading roller coaster rides of my life, climbing the beautiful high, before pummelling into devastation and despair, flying through breathtaking twist and turns, mind numbing speeds and jolting bumps. But you know what the best thing about an all consuming roller coaster is?

When you reach the end, all you want to do is ride it again….

And now all I want to do is go right back to the beginning and ride that emotional coaster AGAIN and AGAIN

B and Whiskey are IT. You know? Just IT! So hard to explain, to fully capture THEM! Like everything that’s wrong about them is actually so right and everything that’s right is kinda wrong. Everything they are is perfection but it’s also devastation.. They are two incredibly raw, intense, souls that have one hell of a connection but time is NEVER on their side. And that HURTS! But it’s a good hurt..honestly, it’s one that you need to savour. It’s a hurt that you need to let knock you off your feet because that burn, that angst, that delicious heartbreak is magic.

What Kandi has done here is pen a book so full of emotion, so full of connection that when I was reading I could hear the characters talking, I could visualise them, in front of me telling me their story. I could FEEL every high and low. I was a part of it, for 7 hours I lived their world as my own.

I thought when Kandi wrote Weightless that her writing was amazing but in this book, Kandi’s writing is other wordly. It’s OUTSTANDING

I hope people GET this book. I hope people read it and fully understand this book, I hope they get B and her mentality, I hope they get her addiction. I hope they understand Jamie, his magnetism and just how AMAZING he is. Yes it’s gritty, raw, intense and at times all you may want to do is scream but it’s also REAL, BEAUTIFUL, BREATHTAKING

Oh and Kandi, the epilogue. One of the best epilogues I’ve ever read! Despite the fact that I cried like a baby AGAIN!

I read A LOT of books. I’ve read well over the 100 this year so far, and while books touch me and resonate, very few books actually play out my own personal experiences. However when reading this book, reading the story of B and Whiskey, hit so deep that I got the strangest sense of deja vu, because I have a Whiskey, in fact if people are honest, they’ll have a Whiskey too. So ALLTW sits as one of those books that immediately changed me. It’s one of those books that will leave an imprint so large that, I’ll feel the after effects of it FOREVER.

It’s crazy how fast the buzz comes back after you’ve been sober for so long.
Whiskey stood there, on my doorstep, just like he had one year before. Except this time, there was no rain, no anger, no wedding invitation — it was just us.

It was just him — the old friend, the easy smile, the twisted solace wrapped in a glittering bottle.

It was just me — the alcoholic, pretending like I didn’t want to taste him, realizing too quickly that months of being clean didn’t make me crave him any less.

But we can’t start here.

No, to tell this story right, we need to go back.

Back to the beginning.

Back to the very first drop.

This is my love letter to Whiskey. I only hope he reads it.

Review – The Revolution by S.L. Scott

Ohhhh myyyyy life…..Kaz freaking Fabian.

*faints*

HO-LY HELL!! This book was everything I wanted and didn’t expect all rolled up in a sexy, sinful package. Every book in this series has gone from strength to strength. I’ve loved each and every book more and more. The Revolution continues that cycle. SL’s writing is stronger, the story telling solid, the characters, perfect. EVERYTHING was PERFECT.

I expected to fall for Kaz. I expected to love him. What I hadn’t expected was how quick I fell for him. Jeez, the man just overtook every single sense, stole my heart and devoured me whole. He’s dangerous to the heart. His words were like molten lava, flowing through me, burning himself into every part of me.

Lara was the best counterpart for Kaz. I had no idea that Lara’s story would break me as much as it did, but damn, the heartbreak and devastation was HEAVY! Kaz & Lara’s relationship was on fire, wickedly hot and soul searing. These two ingrained themselves in me and didn’t want to move. I breathed with them, I felt with them, I loved with them and I also hurt with them.

The whole premise of The Revolution was intense, deep and at times, hard to process. The twists and turns that SL threw out were gutting. I had no idea this story would go where it did, I had no idea that the hurt would hurt as much as it did. I want to say Lara was reckless but when you read the love her and Kaz share you’ll totally understand it. I never got to the point where I felt mad at her, I just wanted to help her.

The Revolution is a heart breaking, soulful read that stole my breath and left me in a daze. Days later and I’m still feeling this book. Prepare yourselves for one hell of a journey because this is one of the best!

My world was rock solid.

Until I saw her.

Lara Kessler showed up as if heaven sent her to me, and suddenly my priorities changed. Love is funny like that. One minute you’re living the dream, then BAM! Half my soul shows up backstage wearing a purple shirt and sexy skin-tight jeans, making me realize what I’ve been missing all along. Loving her means exposing a life I’ve tried to bury.

My heart had lost its beat.

Until I saw him.

Kaz Fabian caught my attention the moment I laid eyes on him. Love is funny like that. The famous guitarist was every woman’s fantasy—great face, chiseled jaw, cut biceps. The rock star was pure sex on and off stage, but his charm and charisma won me over. Loving him means burdening him with a life I’ve tried to leave behind.

With her future dim and his past in the spotlight, can they overcome their fate or will they just be another tragic love story?

Review – Marry Me, Mad by Katy Regnery

madebookcoveruse

review-graphic

It is amazing… and funny too. With every book that Katy releases from Blueberry Lane, I always find myself asking her the exact same question:

How am I supposed to pick a favorite when you write books like this?

It’s so true! And it seems with every book, Katy’s leading men get dreamier, more romantic… even sexier than the last. Her leading ladies are stronger – feisty and fierce to the last page. Marry Me, Mad is no exception. Full of a long held love but unrequited feelings, heartbreaking angst and steamy – ohhhh, is it ever – romance. One tall, tatted bad boy musician and a good girl who really is rather wild under all that prim and proper exterior, Cort Ambler and Madeleine Rousseau set Blueberry Lane on fire!

She put all of her hope in her boyfriend only to find that he was liar and a cheat. Finding she needed an escape from her angry thoughts and her old tired routine, Madeleine finds her way to an underground club filled with beautiful music. Never did she think that she would find her sister’s ex-boyfriend making that beautiful music. She was always drawn to Cort Ambler, and while he always had her heart, he broke her sister’s. That means he’s off limits. Completely. Still, what a temptation he is. For Cort, seeing her only makes the past ten years float away. Nothing has changed. He still loves her. He still wants her. She still challenges him. She’s still the most beautiful music he has ever heard. He’s tried to stay away, to honor his word to Madeleine’s twin sister Jax, but he’s convinced that he can finally have what he’s always wanted. Cort wants Mad. The trouble is he doesn’t have long to convince her to give them a chance.

The romance between Cort and Madeleine is absolutely breathtaking. The connection and chemistry between these two is so sigh worthy, so steamy. What could be more intense and more jaw dropping than a man writing a love song for a woman he desperately wants, only to know that he has so little time at a second chance – at a REAL chance to have her? These two are so passionate about everything…. Cort is devoted to his music. Madeleine is bound to her library and to her sister. She won’t hurt her. But these two are together nothing matters but the joy and bliss they find in each other. Can they have it all?

This entry of the Blueberry Lane series is brilliant! Emotionally satisfying. Sinfully sensual. The harp has NEVER been sexier. Cort Ambler made my heart flutter and my insides quiver. He’s a true romantic in every sense of the word. Loyal, charming, selfless… Perfect. Madeleine is classy, with a beautiful devoted heart and wild streak up her back. I loved her willingness to sacrifice her own happiness for the sake of her sister. It says so much about Katy that she was able to depict Madeline so wonderfully!

So, have I picked a favorite? Of course I have! That is… until JC. Fantastic, Katy!

EXCERPT:

She stood on the sidewalk facing him, a sweet smile on her lips.

Cort gestured to his front door with a flick of his chin. “Want to come in?”

“Yes. But we have to talk first.”

“What happened to ‘Take me to bed’?”

She sighed. “Fresh air cleared my head.”

He glanced down at his swollen cock, all but bursting against the zipper of his jeans. “I’m dying a little here, baby.”

Her eyes followed his, dancing with mirth when she looked back up at him. “So I see.”

“I’m not alone either,” he said, dropping his eyes to her nipples, which strained against her thin, billowy blouse.

“No,” she said, her voice slightly lower, her smile giving way to a hotter, more needy look. “You’re not.”

“So let’s talk inside.”

She shook her head no. “Here.”

Cort sighed, hitching her flowered bag a little higher on his shoulder, waiting for her to continue.

“No talking about Jax or Thatcher,” she said. “If you talk about Jax, I won’t be able to stay. I’ll feel too guilty. And if you talk about Thatcher, I’ll feel too angry. Promise?”

“I promise.”

She took a step closer to him. “And this one’s big…No falling in love with each other. We’re just about impossible, you and me, so we can’t—you know—bring that sort of emotion into this. We can enjoy each other, but that’s all, Cort. Promise.”

He flinched as she finished. He could feel the involuntary muscle reaction that narrowed his eyes and told him that it was too late. It was a lifetime too late to tell him not to love her, because he’d loved her for most of his life. Her gentleness, her quiet grace, the peace he’d always found in her presence now combined with the scorching chemistry between them that couldn’t be denied. Over and over again throughout his life, he’d looked for her, tried to find someone like her, but his heart had fixed on hers so long ago, it was all but impossible for him not to love her. The only way he could promise her was to promise not to “fall” this weekend, only because he’d already fallen years before.

“I promise not to fall.”

She smiled at him, though the smile had lost a bit of the lightheartedness it had held minutes earlier. “Do you need any promises from me?”

He nodded, closing the distance between them. “Yeah, I do.”

Her eyes widened, flaring with heat, the black of her pupils obliterating the green of her irises as she pressed her breasts against his chest.

“Promise to leave nothing on the table, Mad. Give me everything you’ve got for twenty-four hours.”

“Except…” Her voice broke. “Except my love. I promise.”

His heart clenched at her omission, and it made him want to push her out of her comfort zone a little. “Promise to touch me everywhere with your hot little mouth.”

“I promise,” she murmured, her throat moving as she swallowed.

His eyes narrowed. “Promise to open your legs so I can slide inside of you as if I’ve been doing it all my life.”

“Cort,” she whimpered, her eyes fluttering closed as she looked down at where her chest heaved into his. “I need you.”

Review – American Queen by Sierra Simone

aq-cover-amazon

review-graphic

Stunned.

I wasn’t any where near ready for this. Not even close.

I am just absolutely stunned and still vibrating from this amazing read. Sierra Simone has written a book that is moving, sensual, so damned sexy. I cannot believe how amazing this story is. This is one hot steamy tale that you don’t want to put down until the very last page – and even then? You want more. Much, much more.

Yes, this is a political story. This is Washington seen through the eyes of someone who suffered through the backstabbing, the dirty deals and insider sessions. Greer decided that she was done with that life. But one visit from Vice President Embry Moore would change her life forever. One visit that would be the catalyst of one the most intense, possessive and incredible love triangles that I have ever read. It didn’t matter the age difference between Greer and her President or that while she longed for him after their first meeting, he would find love with another. It didn’t matter that while she loved her President, she also loved his second in command and that she gave herself to him.

What mattered was that no matter how they all tried to deny it, Greer, Ash and Embry are made for each other. Their unconventional, and in some eyes, sinful relationship could cause a scandal and bring down a Presidency. They have all been warned. They know their actions can have consequences. That doesn’t matter. These three together are fire and passion. Theirs is an all consuming, uncompromising love with the President clearly at the head of the relationship. The King with his Queen and Prince entralled and adoring. It was awe inspiring to watch these characters grow and their story progress, evolve and grab me so by the throat that I was left speechless as I turned the last page.

Again, I am still so stunned. American Prince cannot get here fast enough. Sierra, you are simply amazing. This story clearly showcases your ever growing talent and that you love and know your classics very well. Highly recommend this book! VERY HIGHLY!

FANTASTIC!

synopsis.jpg
It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires…and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire.

My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States.

This is the story of an American Queen.

aq-fairytale
excerpt
“I kept thinking about what I wanted to give you today for our wedding day, and honestly, Greer, there isn’t really anything I couldn’t give you. Jewelry or exotic vacations or rare editions of the books you love, anything I could have dreamed of, I could get for you—but they were just things. I didn’t want to get you a thing for a curio cabinet or a jewelry box. I wanted to give you something that you could carry with you through our new life together. Something that would make you a promise.”
The best man’s hand brushes up against my stocking-covered ankle and I gasp.
“What is it, princess?” Ash’s low voice comes over the phone line.
“Embry…I mean, Ash, I—” I can’t find the words just then, because Embry’s hand slides up my calf and everything stops. My thoughts, my feelings, my guilt—my world shrinks to Ash’s voice on the phone and the fingers moving past my knee and Embry’s face, so controlled. But lust and anger and determination are fissuring across that control, and I can see his wide pupils and the pulse pounding in his neck and the trembling of his lips.
What is happening? I think distantly to myself. What am I letting happen…and all while I’m on the phone with my soon-to-be husband?
And then the world slams back into motion, and I make a strangled noise, stumbling backwards, away from Embry. He starts to stand and come toward me, and I hold out one of my hands, moving backwards until my back is pressed against the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the skyline.
Embry looks down at my shaking hand and then back up to me, those fissures in his control now full-on fractures, and he says, “Greer…”
“Don’t test me,” I whisper, not sure if I’m whispering to the groom or the best man. “Don’t test me like this.”
This isn’t happening. I missed a connection somewhere, misunderstood something vital, because there is no way, no fucking way, that Ash is offering his best friend to me as some sort of wedding present. This is my wishful thinking turned toxic, this is my darkest fantasies turning into delusion—
“I want you to let Embry give you my gift,” Ash tells me. “While I listen. That’s what you’ll give me in exchange: every single moan, pant and cry will be for me.”
“You can’t be saying what I think you’re saying,” I say.
“Oh, don’t worry, angel. I’ll get something out of this for me too.”
I hear the dark roughness in his voice and I realize I’m so very, very wet.
“Close your eyes,” Ash orders.
I do, my panting somehow louder in my head when I can’t see anything. The glass window against my back is cool and strong, just like Ash’s words in my ear.
“I know you’re wet. I know it like I know Embry is hard right now, just from the mere thought of touching you. You want it, don’t you? You want it so much that you’re shaking with the effort it’s taking to hold yourself back.”
“But I don’t want to hurt you.” It’s my final plea, my final argument, my final grasp at some semblance of sanity. My skirts are almost up at my waist now, and I know the moment Embry catches sight of my delicate, hand-embroidered French panties because he takes in a sharp breath, as if punched in the gut.
“It all hurts,” Ash says. “It hurts watching you two watching each other. It hurts watching him with other people. There’s no part about this that doesn’t hurt, but what’s the alternative? Living without the pain means living without each other.”

Review – Written In The Scars by Adriana Locke

Written in the Scars Ebook Cover.jpg

review-graphic

Some books make you laugh.

Some books make you cry.

Some books act as a distraction to take you away from reality.

Then there are books like this one. Words that change your mind, imprint on your heart and shake you to your core. A story that whether it was meant to or not, heal not only your hurts but mend the hurts of another carrying an ugly awful pain right along you. Words that show the brutal honesty and heartbreaking roller coaster reality of marriage, friendship and family.

Marriage isn’t always easy. It isn’t always the fairy tale that we read about. Sometimes even the strongest of bonds can be broken by the obstacles of life and happily ever after isn’t always guaranteed – it has to be earned. Elin and Ty have always loved each other. Ty knew that Elin was his future from the moment he saw her. Elin wanted nothing more than to love Ty… be his wife and have a family. But as Written begins, the couple isn’t in that happy marriage and building the family that they planned.  They are separated and the pain of that separation has taken on a life of its own. There are secrets that both are carrying. And there is anger. So very much anger.  Stressed from an unfortunate accident, feeling lost and worthless for months, Ty had left his wife – and has returned to town.  Still unsure of where he stood with his wife, Ty wondered if he could reclaim his love, his home and his sense of self.  Elin never dreamed that she and the man she has loved for so long would end up at opposite ends of a relationship.  But here they were – and she wasn’t sure if the fighting and anguish was worth it.

Adriana Locke is such an amazing talent. As she weaved Elin and Ty’s story, their pain is so gut wrenching, so unbearably real. The miscommunications, insecurities and the fight to hang on are evident in every sentence, every paragraph, on every single page.  Still these two loved each other so much.  Is love enough though? Can love overcome heartbreak and the loss of a dream of home and family? The secondary characters in this book aren’t really secondary. They are just as integral and vital to this story as Elin and Ty. Without Jiggs and Lindsay – Elin’s brother and her best friend – there would be a void in the story. Without Cord there is no story. He is the glue holding together this family of five. In this story, Cord McCurry is proof that family is not always blood. Family is made in the heart and nurtured in the soul.

As I read on through this thought provoking story, I had to face my own personal demons and my own struggles. To say that I identified with Elin in every way is an understatement. I shed so many tears right along with her. I felt her anguish and hoped for her healing.  I believed in their marriage even when Elin didn’t.  I rooted for Ty and celebrated as he fought for what he wanted. I prayed as I turned the pages that Elin could find a way to forgive Ty and that Ty could forgive himself.  I was right there with them. All credit to an amazing story teller.

Emotionally stirring and beautifully written.  I couldn’t put it down when I started and truly, I didn’t want to. No one reading this book will walk away unchanged. This story isn’t so much about the white hot burning romance between two people as the sweet long lasting journey that their love story takes. That journey was not without pit stops, speed bumps and accidents. Even the truest love can veer off course.  It was Elin and Ty knowing in their heart of hearts that no matter what the scars from those pit stops, speed bumps and accidents were proof that they could survive anything.  Love always wins.

Fantastic, Addy!  Absolutely the very best  that you have written and one of the best books of 2016!

5 Beautiful Stars!

synopsis.jpg

Falling in love is easy.

Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.

And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it.

The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build.

Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible.

Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend.

When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin’s torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain.

Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it’s their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart.

EXCERPT

His mouth falls, his eyes leaving mine and heading across the lake to some place, some memory, some thought I’m not privy to. He slips off the back of the truck and faces the lake for a long minute. When he turns to me, he’s resigned to a decision.

“I tell the boys on my team that we don’t quit,” he says, his tone steady. “I’m always reminding them that we set our eyes on a prize and we work our tails off until we get there. Regardless of how painful, even though it might hurt, we get to the finish line.”

“Sounds like good logic,” I say, swallowing a lump that’s suddenly lodged in my throat.

“It is. In theory. But I’m rethinking it now.” He shoves his hands in his pockets and squares his shoulders up to me. “Sometimes you have to let things go. Just because you start on a path, even if you’re balls-to-the-wall at first, doesn’t mean you should stay on it. It’s less quitting, I guess, and more adjusting. Moving on to the next thing you think you want.”

He knows I’m dying for him to expound, that I’m terrified that he means he’s decided my recent rhetoric is right. Even though that’s what I’ve asked him to do, I can’t bear to hear it come out of his mouth. He knows this, yet he doesn’t go on. He waits for me to respond.

With a voice shakier than I’d like, I give in. “What are you moving on from now?”

Slowly, inch-by-inch, the corner of his mouth upturns. With every movement, every flinch, my heartbeat picks up.

“I quit pretending like I don’t know what we’re doing,” he says. “I’ve tried to ease back into this because I think that’s what you want. I’ve slept on that fucking futon in Cord’s room with that stupid dog licking me in the face every morning long enough.” He smirks, cocking a brow. “Baby, I’m coming home. If you don’t like it, too damn bad.”
