Review – The Director and the Don Juan by Katy Regnery

Review graphic

Oh, this story felt so good!

I have always like Alice Story. She’s a hard working, tough as nails broad who stood up to her sexist tyrant of a father and made herself a success. She loves her sisters and wants nothing more than to take care of her family. Even Elizabeth who has chosen for whatever reason to remain attached to her clueless father. The only person that Alice has truly had to turn to is her assistant, Carlos. This brave beautiful man chose to take a chance and left with Alice to begin her import business. Over the years of working so closely together, they have formed such a bond. They work well together, think in the same ways, see business the same way. Still, clearly they have way more than business between them, and fight though she may, Alice Story definitely wants Carlos to be far more than her executive assistant. Far more.

Carlos Vega is determined to have it all – career, family and Alice. This Latino Adonis has no doubts about his devotion Alice Story, and he firmly believes that he can make her happy. He knows that Alice has insecurities – the biggest being the seven years between them. To Carlos, though, the numbers mean nothing, and he proves it by doing what he has been doing everyday – taking care of Alice. Oh, Carlos is so sexy, so alpha! He leaves no doubt who’s in charge when reminds Alice that she may run the boardroom, but he is fully in charge in their bedroom. Wow! He had me with his romantic gestures, sexy Spanish and burning hot dance moves. His love of his family and his culture is so endearing. He is just one great guy.

My trips to Blueberry Lane make me wish for more always. This long running series just keeps getting better with each family that Katy highlights. It’s getting harder and harder to pick a favorite family. I don’t think I want to! The Director was a welcome distraction with a nice side trip to the Caribbean. Great job, Katy.

From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery comes a brand new series set on Blueberry Lane!

The Director and Don Juan is the second of four books about the Philadelphia-based Story sisters who are all on the look-out for love.

Heiress Alice Story left her father’s company three years ago in a blaze of glory, inviting all of his employees to jump ship and join her, but only one accepted her offer: mail room clerk, Carlos Vega.

While Alice spent the next three years getting her own company off the ground, Carlos became her indispensable right-hand man — executive assistant and office manager, loyal counsel and trusted co-worker.

And all the while, they were quietly falling in love with each other.

When Alice is offered a lucrative business deal in Puerto Rico, island-born Carlos is the perfect person to accompany her on her trip as translator. But as they travel together from Philadelphia to Santo Domingo to Ponce, two unlikely co-workers will discover that their feelings for each other have grown far deeper than they ever could have guessed.

And though business-minded, proper Alice will try her very best to ignore the longings of her heart, scorching hot, insanely sexy Boricua, Carlos, has no intention of letting her go.

Review – The Catch by K. Bromberg

The Catch by K. Bromberg

My rating: 6 of 5 stars

Just when I felt like everything was falling apart, I’m beginning to wonder if maybe they were finally falling into place.

I have a mix of shattered, soulful, sweet, and swoon-filled tears in my eyes left from The Catch. My feels are still flying at full force. My emotions are still entwined around every bit of this book. This surprise of a story snuck up on me, throwing a HUGE CURVEBALL my way, and I LOVED EVERY FAST-FLYING MINUTE.

After just one chapter, my heart jumped, racing out of my chest, beating fast and furiously. I knew almost immediately that this romance is a GAME CHANGER, as The Catch DELIVERS ALL THE THINGS!!! The Catch went from something to EVERYTHING in mere minutes. Sexy, swoon-filled, and spine-tingling, The Catch hits the heart hard and shreds the soul in a roller coaster of a romance that is BASEBALL BOOK BLISS.

The characters immediately pulled me towards them where I was I intertwined so closely, they felt real. Scout, so strong and beautiful, is a warrior woman fighting battles for those she loves. Easton is one hot and full-of-heart alpha of a ball player who goes to bat for what and who he loves. Scout and Easton are MAGNETIC together, their romance full of fire where I MELTED!!!

This line is pure power, passion, and poignancy in words. This line is devotion. This line is LOVE…so much love for Scout and Easton.

I’d sacrifice me to save you.

My soul was SLAYED.

This couple’s chemistry is combustible and their adoration for each other endearing. My feelings were bursting inside.

“I want to drown in you tonight, Scout. I want to forget the world, forget what’s going to happen tomorrow, and drown in everything about you, starting now.”

My heart beat out of my chest.
My pulse pounded.
My soul shattered and soared.
My emotions were on edge.

I FELT all the passion. I FELT all the angst. I FELT all the sorrow. I FELT all of the smolder. I felt all of the sweetness. I FELT all of the words. I FELT EVERYTHING.

Both Scout and Easton have fought the fires of hell and have returned stronger than ever. I LOVED watching this couple grow, LOVED their story that surprised me the whole time reading, and LOVED every part of this PASSIONATE romance. I LOVED being caught by this SOUL-SLAYING story.

“I’ll be whatever you need me to be.”

“You already are.”

The Catch was what I NEEDED IT to be and MORE. I never stopped feeling this story course through me while reading. My heart caught in my chest, tears bleeding so many emotions. The Catch twisted and turned my heart inside out where it SHATTERED and SOARED. I did not expect this baseball romance to SHRED ME, owning every emotion…OWNING ME. The Catch is every baseball thrill…every flutter…every feel…EVERYTHING!!!

This raw, rush of a romance is as touching as it is thrilling, the best baseball book I’ve read!!! It’s no secret why K. Bromberg has been one of my top, go-to authors for years…soon after she published her first words. This author BRINGS HER ALL to everything she creates, and that’s why I’m a fan for life. K. Bromberg brought her A-Game out to play in The Catch. I bestow this ACE of a love story SIX SUPER STARS, a top 2017 read!!! The only problem is that I NEED MORE! ❤️

“I know exactly what I want. Funny how my decision has been there all along. I was looking in all the wrong places.”

After an unexpected twist of fate, All-Star catcher Easton Wylder is left questioning the loyalty of everyone around him.

Even the woman who shares his bed, Scout Dalton.

But if Easton thought being uprooted to the last place he expected was the only challenge life had to throw at him, he was dead wrong.

With an ailing shoulder and his career in limbo, his decision to make an unexpected change leads him to question everything – Scout’s love, family loyalties, and whether he can conquer the one obstacle he’s never been able to overcome. The secret he’s never shared with anyone.

He may be a man pushed to his limits, but he’s hell-bent on proving his worth no matter the cost.

A MUST-CLICK ROMANCE!!!

Review – The Impossible Vastness of Us by Samantha Young

The Impossible Vastness of Us by Samantha Young

My rating: 6 of 5 stars

Sometimes you read a story that you KNOW from the start will stay with you forever. A story that just sticks. A story that swiftly works its way into your heart. A story that means the world while becoming your world. Entrancing and emotionally-charged, The Impossible Vastness of Us is an inspirational story of young love that imprints on the heart and soul.

I delved into rare territory, a young adult romance, and oh was The Impossible Vastness of Us an incredibly MOVING and MESMERIZING journey. The fierce and fiery angst of this teen romance made my pulse pound and my heart beat out of my chest. The characters are full of fire with a story so heady, harrowing, and heartfelt.

India is the youngest and strongest heroine I’ve encountered in a long time. A warrior, India is young but has already lived a life of hell. This beautiful girl bravely hides a shattered soul. I admired India a lot!!!

I was probably insane to even think about him — this beautiful, rich boy — but he was getting to me. Nobody got to me.

Finn is gorgeous, tall, athletic, and insanely rich. He, like India, is broken but wields a sword of bravery in spades. I LOVED this hero so much!!!

Broken sees broken, and Finn and India are two shattered souls trying to be whole.

I saw him. I think he was the first person I’d ever truly seen and I couldn’t help it — I wanted him to see me, too.

Passion penetrated me, these words so poignant. I cried so many tears of sadness and sweetness. I felt each word slice through me, my emotions enveloping me where I was ALL IN this story.

“Most of the time I feel like I can’t breathe inside my own life. Like I’m just existing. Not with you, though. I feel like I’m breathing fresh, clean air whenever I’m with you. I feel alive.”

Finn and India’s connection is MAGICAL!!! I loved this heart-wrenching and heartwarming romance that made ME FEEL ALIVE!!!

“Freedom is bigger than us.”

The Impossible Vastness of Us by Samantha Young was not what I expected; it was a million times MORE!!! The Impossible Vastness of Us is an EPIC young love story and beyond!!! This book is strength in spades. This book is healing after heartbreak. This book is accepting and embracing differences and diversity. This book is hard-fought freedom. This book is selfless love. This book is EVERYTHING, and I NEED more of Eloise, Finn, and India, as I feel their story has only begun.

Heart-pounding, butterfly-fluttering, soul-shattering, feels flowed through me fast and furiously as The Impossible Vastness of Us touched me every part of me. Like a gaping wound, this story cut me open as it bled angst, exposing every emotion. All of the words made me FEEL ALL OF THE THINGS!!!

The Impossible Vastness of Us is an emotional explosion that BLEW ME AWAY from beginning to end. I was OBSESSED with and OWNED by this romance. Samantha Young brilliantly brings characters to life that captivate through a journey of heartbreak and healing. You NEED to get touched by this UNIQUE and UNPUTDOWNABLE ROMANCE. HEARTBREAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL and UTTERLY BRILLIANT, The Impossible Vastness of Us is an unforgettable coming of age love story you’ll feel forever.

“If something bad happens to you, it’s up to you how you let it change you — you either become more compassionate or you let it make you bitter.”

“I know how to watch my back. I’m the only one that ever has.”

India Maxwell hasn’t just moved across the country—she’s plummeted to the bottom rung of the social ladder. It’s taken years to cover the mess of her home life with a veneer of popularity. Now she’s living in one of Boston’s wealthiest neighborhoods with her mom’s fiancé and his daughter, Eloise. Thanks to her soon-to-be stepsister’s clique of friends, including Eloise’s gorgeous, arrogant boyfriend Finn, India feels like the one thing she hoped never to be seen as again: trash.

But India’s not alone in struggling to control the secrets of her past. Eloise and Finn, the school’s golden couple, aren’t all they seem to be. In fact, everyone’s life is infinitely more complex than it first appears. And as India grows closer to Finn and befriends Eloise, threatening the facades that hold them together, what’s left are truths that are brutal, beautiful, and big enough to change them forever…

“India, I’m not using her. I mean, I am, but it’s not like that. Eloise is getting what she wants out of this relationship, as well.”

“Like what?”

“I can’t tell you.”

“You are using her.”

“I’m not.” His chair screeched as he pulled it closer so our knees touched. His dark eyes moved over my face and I sucked in my breath at the open appreciation I saw there. “I’m not using her…but we are in a relationship together. I guess it just never occurred to me that I might actually meet someone in high school. Someone I…”

That feeling in my chest, that thick, hot feeling, threatened to overwhelm me at all the things he wasn’t saying. “Finn, Eloise is going to be my family.”

He looked so forlorn it took everything within me not to reach for him.

“What is it you’re hiding?”

“I can’t tell you. Please, just trust me.”

Hurt and frustration swept through me in equal measure but I tamped it down. It wasn’t my place to demand his secrets.

My frustration was suddenly mirrored in his eyes as he looked up at me. “I wish things were different.”

But they weren’t different. And yet they were the same, history repeating itself. I cared about someone and they didn’t care enough about me back to be honest about what was really going on.

I didn’t know if I was angry at Finn or just angry that nothing ever seemed to be easy for me. Everything was always a fight.

It felt like I lived in a constant clusterfuck.

I gave a huff of laughter. “Story of my life.” I shook my head, grabbed up my bag and, unable to look at him, said, “Thank you for your help tonight.”

“You’re not leaving without me.”

His protectiveness confused and pissed me off even more. “I’m not? Funny, it looks like that’s exactly what I’m doing.”

His familiar scowl was back in place at my sarcasm. “You’re also not going home alone after what happened here. I’ll give you a ride.”

“Finn.” I slumped, suddenly feeling exhausted. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

Sadness flittered through his eyes before he managed a carefully blank expression. “I think I can handle driving you home.”

Still a trembling mess after everything that had happened, I gave in and followed Finn out to his car.

The tension that we’d shared before was nothing compared to how it was now. Now that Finn had in a roundabout way admitted he liked me and I’d realized that what I was feeling for him was attraction, the tension could not be mistaken for anything else but sexual.

I’d never felt anything like it before—it was the most frustrating, scary and exhilarating feeling in the world.

When we eventually pulled up outside the house, the guilt washed over me. I shouldn’t be feeling this way about Eloise’s boyfriend and he certainly shouldn’t be feeling this way about me.

I felt like we were to blame for the whole thing but I didn’t know why.

I hadn’t asked the universe to make Finn like me.

And I had definitely not intended to like him in return.

“India,” he said just as I moved to get out of his car. “I’ve never really cared what anybody thought of me before…but I really don’t want you to think I’m a bad person.”

I stared into his beautiful eyes. “I can’t imagine ever thinking you’re a bad person. I meant it earlier…thank you for coming for me tonight. I’ll never forget it.”
“This feels weirdly like a goodbye,” he said with a bitter twist to his gorgeous lips.

“Maybe it is. I guess we’re both just a complication the other doesn’t need.”

Slowly, so slowly my heart had time to increase in hard, steady thumps, Finn slid his hand over the center console between us and stroked his thumb along the side of my hand. I felt that simple touch in every nerve, my body reacting to it in a way it never had to the touches and deep kisses that had come before it.

I stared at our hands for a moment, wondering how different my life could be if Finn wasn’t Eloise’s boyfriend, if we’d just met as strangers at school, felt the inexplicable bond between us and were free to do something about it.

Suddenly very aware of how long I’d been sitting outside the house in his car, I fumbled for the door handle. “See you around, Finn.”

Review- Luca by Sarah Castille

My rating is 6 out of 5 but worth 100

6 stars but 100 if I could give them.
I thought you couldn’t get any better than Nico. I WAS DEAD WRONG!!!  I’m so sorry Nico but Luca has replaced you as my favorite mobster ever. Pure ovary explosion. 100% pure alpha male that loves fiercely. Who can turn that away? Definitely not me. This book is definitely in my top 5 of the year. Need I say more? Probably not, but I’m going to.
Luca is a Capo who has worked his butt off to restore the Rizzoli name after his father disgraced them by getting in the drug trade. He has been through his fair share of heartache from family and lovers but he still has a huge heart that I instantly fell in love with.

Gabrielle is a cop whose husband was brutally murdered and was left hanging upside down in his home. She came home and found him. How does one get through something like that? She has made it her life’s mission to find Garcia and bring justice for David.

When Luca and Gabrielle meet, there is no denying the sparks are gonna fly. And fly they did. When Luca finds out she’s a cop, he still can’t let her go even though he knows it could equal death for him.
These two fight the good fight and that’s as many details as I’m giving because while I started having suspicions, I truly was floored when this story started unfolding. I was beyond blown away, and I know you will be too.

Luca is the second book in a full-length, standalone series by New York Times bestselling author, Sarah Castille, set in Las Vegas and featuring deliciously sexy mafia bosses and the women who can’t help but love them.

Luca Rizzoli was nearly destroyed by a brutal betrayal that cost him his family. Now a ruthless crime boss in Las Vegas, he lets nothing touch his frozen heart…until a smoldering encounter with a beautiful stranger ignites his passion. One night isn’t enough for a man who takes what he wants—and Luca will do whatever he can to possess his mysterious temptress…

Police detective Gabrielle Fawkes lives for revenge. She lost everything at the hands of an unforgiving ruler of the Vegas underworld. Now she wants to see him six feet under. But when a near-fatal attack leads her into Luca’s arms, what was meant to be one night of unbridled passion becomes something forbiddingly more. Luca has his own agenda, but when strong, determined, kick-ass detective Gaby sets her sights on her target, Luca feels compelled to stand by her side and protect her at all costs. However, pursuing danger comes at a high price—and both Gaby and Luca must work together in order to eliminate the dark enterprise that threatens them.

Review- Prom Queen by Katee Robert

My rating is 4 out of 5 stars

A quick second chance novella that shows people can change. I was sucked in from the beginning and was so curious to see where the book was going to head. It could have been a disaster waiting to happen for Jessica and I felt for her. I was rooting for her from the beginning.

Jessica made it clear in the beginning that she was a complete mean girl in high school. She has totally changed in the last 10 years. Her friends insist she go to her reunion but she doesn’t want to show without a date. Her brilliant friends decide to order her a date from an escort service so she doesn’t show up looking pathetic. Boy is she in for a surprise when she gets to the airport and her “date” picks her up.

Jake sees her application come across his computer and decides it’s time for revenge. When he sees how defeated and obviously changed she is, he changes his tune.

Will they have a happy ever after years later or will Jessica just be schooled in what it really means to be mean?

Imagine his surprise when he discovers that the ex who left him in the dust needs a fake boyfriend for their high school reunion…

Jessica Jackson used to be the mean girl to end all mean girls. But life didn’t turn out like she’d thought it would, and now she’s twenty-eight, single, and works as an insurance agent to A-listers instead of being the A-lister like she’d always dreamed. The second Jessica realizes that her fake date is Jake, she tries to call the whole thing off. The problem is the chemistry between them is even hotter now than it was when they were teenagers. Taking a fortifying breath that did nothing to fortify, she scrolled through her texts to find the number that had shown up last night. The words were short and to the point.

I’ll pick you up at the airport.

Nothing there to tell what kind of man she’d ended up with, and she’d been too cowardly to text back anything other than a generic agreement. Now there was nothing left to stall with. Jessica hitched her purse higher up on her shoulder and headed through security. The big red line tiled into the floor was a point of no return in so many ways. Why did I think this was a good idea?

Her mama didn’t raise a coward, though, so she lifted her chin and marched forward. No matter who this guy was, she’d faced down worse. She’d been worse. It couldn’t be more horrifying than the Miss Texas Teen USA pageant of 2005 where that little brat Misty Brennan cut holes into her dress and she didn’t realize it until she was out on stage and had her pink polka dot bra showing to the audience and God. Jessica had powered through that and walked out with second place, and she’d power through this, too.

She joined the people from multiple flights crowded around the baggage claim, her body practically vibrating from nerves. The scent of too many people in too little space assaulted her, but she was more focused on the faces she didn’t recognize from the plane. Too many, all filtered in with the travelers—there was no way she’d be able to pick him out of the crowd. Her date had her picture, so he’d have to be the one to approach. What if he doesn’t? What if this is just karma giving me one last kick in the teeth?

Oh, for God’s sake, stop being so dramatic.

“Jessica.”

A thrill shot down her spine, quickly eaten up by a dread so strong, she wished the ground would open and swallow her whole. She shot a look at the nearest exit, but if she took off now, she’d have to admit that she fled instead of turning and facing her Number One Nightmare.

Jake Davis.

Praying she was wrong, she turned slowly to face him. Nope. That was definitely Jake Davis, ex-quarterback, ex-boyfriend, just all around ex when it came to Jessica. And he was definitely way better in real life than he’d been in the pictures she’d seen while she was creeping on him. Her heart picked up and her body sparked to life in a way it hadn’t in far too long.

Something like ten years.

She was staring. She couldn’t stop. Jessica licked her lips, her breath stalling in her lungs when his green eyes met hers. His eyes had always been one of her favorite features—a true green that brightened depending on what he was wearing, framed with thick, dark lashes that had always made her jealous when she was a teenager. Going by those eyes, Jakes would be judged downright pretty.

At least until you saw the rest of his face. His hair had darkened over the years, closer to brown than blond, and his lantern jaw was covered with… “What the hell is that on your face?”

He blinked, the only outward sign that she’d surprised him.

“Nice to see you too, Jessie.” He touched his scruff. “A lot’s changed since you left.”

Her gaze jumped to his right shoulder. There was no outward sign of the injury that had started the end of it all, but then, he was wearing a light-weight black T-shirt, so it wasn’t like it would show. Focus, Jessica. “What are you doing here? Are you picking up someone for the reunion?” There you go. Nice and casual.

“You might say that.” He kept looking at her like he could see the inside of her head. Another new trick.

She glanced around, trying to be subtle. The baggage claim had started to clear out, and there weren’t any conveniently gorgeous men standing around alone. Where was her date? Now would be the perfect time for him to sweep in and do the job she’d hired him for. “I’m here with someone.”

“I know.”

She frowned. “What are you talking about?” On second thought, escaping Jake before she met her date was probably a better choice. She didn’t want to have to deal with meeting this new guy and trying to pretend they’d been dating forever. And how was she going to explain how she’d magically lost him between getting off the plane

and the baggage claim.

Cora’s so-called perfect plan was teetering toward disaster.

“Your order from Diamond Dates.” He gave her a slow, knowing grin that she felt all the way to her toes, and offered his hand. “Jessica Jackson, I’m your date for the reunion.”

Review – Redemption by Stephie Walls

Redemption by Stephie Walls

Two things!

Omg HOLY FREAKING EMOTIONS.

Omg DAN!

If you have never read a Stephie Walls book before you are MISSING OUT. Stephie has this magical ability to rip out your heart and tear it to pieces while breathing life into your soul. Her books are emotional, so, so emotional. They touch on every nerve ending, they make you feel almost as much as the characters do. Her words are like poetry formed in breathtaking verses that sing. Her passion to not only her words but her characters and their stories is clearly visible at all times. How Stephie writes these books I’ll never know but I urge her to never stop.

From the start of Redemption we are thrown into heartbreak and devastation. The suspense of the past claws at you while reading, it pulls on every internal string, enveloping. The flashbacks make you wonder and hold your attention so vividly. And when it all becomes clear it’s a shock. So brutal and it makes you fear for Lissa’s future.

Meshed in with this past is the present. A stunning, highly charged present filled with hope and love and redemption. Dan & Lissa are truly mesmerizing, they come together so well and they are HOT. They are raw, carnal and intense. They breathe hope into the most broken parts. They are amazing. Dan is amazing. A love that fierce is what every person dreams of having.

Through it all, the pain, the past, the love and the present, something fierce grabs onto you and DOES NOT LET GO. Everything pounds into you and just holds you captive.

Redemption is a raw tale of life becoming what you make it. There is always love, always hope. You just have to go out and find it.

5 emotional, intense, inspirational stars!

One decision.

One horrific mistake.

One lifetime of hell.

Everything I got was justified, and all I lost warranted. No matter where I went, the hell of my past followed. There was no forgiveness, no reparation—I would spend the rest of my days trapped in purgatory. His pain was mine.

And then came Dan.

Followed by hope.

And possibly redemption.

Review – All I Am by Jodi Ellen Malpas

All I Am by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Being back in the This Man world is always something to be excited about. I mean anyway to get more Jesse is a winner with me but DREW is something else! This NEW man eclipses any that Jodi has written before. Even though All I Am isn’t full length the story we get is still intense and addictive. All I Am & Drew OWNED me like any true alpha male does. And I loved every second.

Once again Jodi’s exquisite story telling allowed for me to be swept of my feet, tied up in words, emotions and feelings. The connection between Drew & Raya is HOT! I got PRICKLES and BUTTERFLIES every time they came together. These two are dirty, raw, primal and so freaking exceptional! Annnd if that’s not enough, Drew is a single dad people!! Cue major SWOON ALERT!

I’m never surprised by anything Jodi delivers because each and every book blows me away. All I Am may not have been full length but it gave me everything and then some!!

A NEW NOVELLA IN THE THIS MAN SERIES!

You don’t need to read the series to enjoy this story. But if you’re already a Jesse Ward fan, just wait until you see the advice he gives Drew about falling in love.

I thought I had control. I was so, so wrong…

I don’t need a relationship. I have Hux, a decadent club where I quench whatever raw desire I choose. I take pleasure and I give it – no strings attached. So when Raya Rivers comes in asking for someone cold, emotionless, and filthy… well, no man ever takes his wicked pleasure quite the way I do.

Only Raya is different. Vulnerable. And carrying some deep sorrow that gets past all my carefully constructed walls and inexplicably makes me care. Now craving controls me. Ice has given way to red-hot need.

But Raya has no idea about my other life – my real life. That I’m daddy to an adorable little girl. My two worlds are about to collide with the force of a supernova. Once Raya knows the truth, will she be able to accept all I am?

I’m finished with all my paperwork and other closing duties by the time two a.m. rolls around and the last guest leaves the restaurant. I rushed through everything, hoping Nora would show up like she said she would, but it’s closer to three a.m. now, and she still hasn’ t shown. So much for my high hopes tonight. I guess she changed her mind. Nikolas left about fifteen minutes ago, so I’m the last one here. No point in staying, I suppose.
I’m behind the bar top, my back to the door, putting away a few things before heading out when I hear the front doors open. I got sidetracked and never went to lock them after Nik left.
“We’re closed,” I yell out, putting the last liquor bottle in my hands on the bottom shelf and turning around. But it’s not some random stranger looking back at me.
She came.
Nora’s here.
My heart beats way past its usual pace, threatening to leap from my chest, and that’s when I realize just how much this girl affects me. I didn’t realize how disappointed I was that she didn’t show until she finally did.
“Hi.” It’s all she says, with a nervous smile, unable to look me in the eyes. She’s unsure if coming was the right idea or not, I can tell, but it is, and I’m determined to prove it to her.
“Hey,” I reply to her one-word greeting with my own, as I make my way back around to the front of the bar. She looks nervous as I walk in her direction, but I don’t head straight to her. I step in behind her and lock the door, flipping off the lights in the main dining room so only the emergency lights cast a glow over us. I turn around to face her even though she still has her back to me.
I walk up and stand behind her, my chest almost flush with her back, close enough she can feel my breath on the back of her neck. She’ s wearing another tank top, like when we first met, only this one’s pink and doing nothing to hide her arousal at my closeness. Her nipples are peaked and hard, straining against her bra and soft cotton fabric. Without moving the rest of my body, I lift my hands and run my fingers down each of her arms, starting at her shoulders and stopping somewhere near her wrists. In the dim bar lighting, I can see the goose bumps popping up on her flesh and I can hear her breathing speed up. She may be nervous, but she’s turned on.
So am I.
I walk around to her side and take her hand in mine, and start leading her out toward the patio door onto the enclosed waterfront deck. The security windows are already pulled down and locked, and the shades are already covering the windows, so it’s dark when we walk in. I stop at the control panel and turn on a few of the lights so I can see her. I want to be able to see her. To watch her fall apart underneath me. I direct her ahead of me, straight to the corner spot at the bar she sat in the night we met. The night I jokingly told her I wanted to do naughty things to her in this very spot.
Only, it wasn’ t a joke. I didn’t know it at the time, but it was a promise, and I intend to make good on it right now.

For as long as she can remember, Michelle Smith has been making up romantic stories in her head. But it wasn’t until this year that she finally became brave enough to publish them.
If she’s not reading or writing, you can be sure she’s watching her beloved Dallas Stars somewhere, or any of the numerous other sports she likes to watch. She currently lives in Big D (that’s Dallas, Texas for those who don’t know) with her wonderful husband and children.

REVIEW ~ LOST LOVE By KELLY ELLIOTT

This book has evoked a storm of emotion that has literally possessed me, one minute the tears are streaming and my heart is breaking over the words that pour from the pages to the next breathe it breathes life into you and warms your heart. There are not many books that have actually succeeded in reducing me to a sobbing mess and I mean big fat ugly tears that steal your breath away so Ms Elliott I bow to you.
Steed and Paxtons story will pull at your heart strings, push your emotions to the very edge, a story that is bittersweet, romantic and simply beautiful, if Steed and Paxton don’t win your heart then Chloe will steel the show. The story flow is effortless and the supporting characters leave you with a hunger for more.
An amazing start to the new series, a series I can’t wait to get lost in.

Lost Love

(Book 1 – Cowboys and Angels)

By Kelly Elliott

Release Day – June 27, 2017

Moving back home to my parents’ cattle ranch in Texas was the last thing I thought I’d be doing.

But, here I stand … in front of my high school girlfriend. A beautiful, confident woman has replaced the young girl I once knew and loved. Hell. I’m still in love with her.

Yep. Paxton Monroe was my first love and the one girl in town who now hated my guts. So much so, Paxton swore her revenge on me if it took her until the day she died. The last words she spoke to me were a vow to cut my dick off and shove it down my throat.

The fight between my heart, my head, and last, but certainly not least, my dick starts tonight. Because all I can think about is how I want to be buried so deep inside Paxton she won’t remember how I broke her heart, or how I left her when she needed me the most.

But who will win? My heart is too broken to listen to my head. And my dick, yeah it’s not listening to anything or anyone. Not until it gets what it wants and what it wants is Paxton Monroe.

Lost Love is book one in the Cowboys and Angels Series

“Whatcha doing?”

I nearly jumped out of my skin as I spun around and clutched at my chest.

“Jesus, Amelia! Why would you sneak up on me like that?”

She tried to hide her smile and failed. Lifting her brows, she glanced past my shoulder. “Were you watching Steed and Chloe?”

My cheeks heated. “What? No! Are they here? I haven’t seen them. Why would you say that?”

When her eyes moved back to mine, I knew she saw right through my blunder of lies. “Uh-huh. I know I was little when you and Steed dated, so we really don’t know each other all that well.” She smiled. “But I can already tell you’re a terrible liar, Paxton.”

I dropped my head then peeked up at her. “I wasn’t spying.”

Amelia held up her hands. “I didn’t say you were.”

Chewing on my lip, I sighed. “Okay. I was spying. I’m lost, Amelia.”

With a soft sympathetic grin, she glanced at her brother. “So is he, Paxton. His eyes are so sad. Earlier this morning we all had breakfast together as a family and both Mom and I noticed it.”

“The family was all together?” I asked.

She nodded with a grin. “The boys have been working the ranch the last two days so they’re all staying at the house. It’s been nice having Steed home again. Dad’s thrilled he’s back and digging deeper into the business side of the ranch. The idea of having another son run day-to-day operations has him all kinds of happy.”

Guilt hit me square in the chest. It was my fault he left. I told him to leave.

He left his family and stayed away because of me.

“I’m so sorry he left town,” I said.

“Paxton, you didn’t keep him away all those years. That was his decision. A poor one, but his nonetheless.”

I shrugged. Turning, I glanced back at Steed and Chloe. “He’s such a good father.”

The sadness in my voice caused Amelia to put her hand on my shoulder and gave it a squeeze.

Review- Trusting You And Other Lies by Nicole Williams

My rating is 5 out of 5 stars

I don’t typically read YA books, but for Nicole Williams, I’ll give anything a try. I was sucked into this story and taken back in time to those high school years where things were so less complicated to us now as adults but were considered end of life issues for teenagers. Lol.

What I wouldn’t give to go back to that moment in time and have those be the type of issues that were plaguing my life. I did feel for Phoenix. Finding out her parents were hiding major secrets was a huge blow to her heart. How could she trust anyone else if she couldn’t even trust her parents?
She’s forced into going to family camp for the summer and is so beyond angry about it. This trip, however, changes her life in the best way teaching her there’s more to life than she thinks.
We get to watch her grow and mature before our eyes. We also get to witness young love. There’s nothing like it. Nicole did an excellent job with this book. I would definitely be up for reading anymore YA that she writes.

USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Nicole Williams delivers a seductive summer romance worth swooning over. Perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen and Stephanie Perkins.

Phoenix can’t imagine anything worse than being shipped off to family summer camp. Her parents have been fighting for the past two years–do they seriously think being crammed in a cabin with Phoenix and her little brother, Harry, will make things better?
On top of that, Phoenix is stuck training with Callum–the head counselor who is seriously cute but a complete know-it-all. His hot-cold attitude means he’s impossible to figure out–and even harder to rely on. But despite her better judgment, Phoenix is attracted to Callum. And he’s promising Phoenix a summer she’ll never forget. Can she trust him? Or is this just another lie?

It felt like hardly any time had passed at all before the bike slowed when we made it into Flagstaff. Callum took a sudden turn that led away from the main part of the city, and we weren’t on that road long before it opened up into a parking lot.
My arms tightened around him when I scanned the parking lot. Other than the bike’s headlight, I couldn’t make out any-thing else.
“Okay, we’re stopped now. Think you could ease up your death grip on me before you crush my liver?” He parked the bike and turned off the engine.
It was so quiet out here. Scary quiet. “Where are we?” I loosened my grip, but I didn’t let go.
He glanced at me over his shoulder. “Don’t you like a surprise?”
“Not when I’m in the middle of some dark parking lot late at night.”
Callum fought a smile. “It’s barely eight. Not quite the witching hour.”
An owl hooted from somewhere in the woods. I jumped. “Where the hell are we?”
He stopped fighting his smile. “The Lowell Observatory. Perfectly safe and nonthreatening, I swear.”
“What are we observing?”
Callum waited for my arms to drop at my sides before sliding off the bike. “Pretty much anything you want to up there.” He tipped his head and looked up at the sky.
My head followed. “The stars? That’s what we’re going to be looking at?”
“Stars, moons, planets. Take your pick.” He helped me undo the helmet’s chin strap after I fought with it on my own for a few seconds. “This is one of my favorite places.”
“In Arizona?”
“Anywhere,” he answered, pulling a small flashlight from his pocket and turning it on. He pointed it in the direction of a sidewalk and started toward it, making sure I was close beside him.
“How many times have you been here?” I asked.
“I come a few times every summer, more when I was coming here with my family.”
I kept my focus on the light in front of us. With that bright beam, the black didn’t seem so thick around us.
“So are you into astronomy?” I asked.
“You could say that.” When another owl hooted, I didn’t leap out of my boots. This time I barely flinched. Callum’s presence calmed me. “But I didn’t know it the first time I came. I only started getting into astronomy a few years ago.”
“Why did you first start coming here?” We were getting closer to what I guessed was the observatory, but nothing about it screamed tourist attraction.
“It was Ben’s idea, I guess. He knew about the trouble my brother was getting into at home and that I was following in his footsteps. He has this freaky way of looking at a person and knowing what they’re feeling or what they’re thinking. Those first couple of summers at camp he used to be able to take one look at me and know when I was about to do something I’d probably regret.” He paused and shook his head. “I really hated Ben at first.”
“And now you love him.” I nudged him as we approached a doorway.
“And now I respect him. I appreciate what he’s doing and why he does it.” He turned off the flashlight and held open the door for me.
“So your mom would bring you here to look up at the sky and your problems were solved?”
He chuckled softly. “That’s what Ben tried to sell. He said there was nothing like looking up at the universe to make my problems shrivel into nonexistence.”
“Is that doubt I’m detecting in your voice?”
“That’s I- know- better- from- experience in my voice.” Callum
waved at a lady sitting behind a counter at the front and led me inside. It was dark in here, too, which made me shift a bit closer to Callum. “Ben tried really hard to sell me on the perspective thing, but, I don’t know, looking up at the stars or thinking about the size of the universe didn’t make my issues seem any smaller or less significant. They were still the exact same size when I walked out of this place.”
“Then why did you keep coming back?” I asked as he stopped behind the biggest telescope I’d seen in real life.
“Because it got me out of my head, you know?” he answered immediately. “It got me to focus on something else for a while, and even though I’d leave here with the same problems I walked in with, they felt more manageable. More like I could handle them.”
I hadn’t expected him to open up like that. That was becoming a trend when it came to Callum. One minute he came off as the most closed- off person I’d ever met, and the next he could spill his guts. “And then you fell in love with the stars,” I said, watching him as he looked through the telescope, making a few adjustments on the dials.
“And then I did.” He made one last adjustment before motioning me to look. Even though it was dark, his eyes were glowing. I’d seen him in his element this summer, but never like this. If this wasn’t passion, I wasn’t sure I’d ever seen it.
“So you’re saying this place has played a totally insignifi-cant role in your life?” I smiled at him as I moved up to the telescope.
“Completely insignificant.” He stepped aside to give me room to look.
I wound my hair around one shoulder, closed one eye, and leaned over so I could peek through the eyepiece. I could have been looking at a star just as easily as I could have been looking at a planet or a moon. I didn’t feel my problems drifting away from me by the masses, disappearing into the Milky Way, but just like Callum had said, somehow they felt less overwhelming. Less powerful.
The longer I stared up there, the stronger I felt down here. “I get it,” I whispered after another minute, feeling like the entire universe was staring back at me as I gazed into it.
He took a step closer. “I knew you would.”
