Review – Jacob’s Ladder: Gabe by Katie Ashley

5 out of 5 stars

This was my first Katie Ashley book. Definitely not a typical rock star read,  so I  definitely recommend it if you want something different. Two fiery individuals come together after a battle to the end.
Gabe is the song writer for his band, Jacobs Ladder. He  is in a major writing funk and has ventured to no man’s land to try to find his mojo. Before he can even start his adventure,  he gets stuck and has to be towed. He NEVER  expects Ray,  the tow truck driver,  to actually be Rae,  a feisty woman who has a serious aversion to musicians.
After her mom left her for a singer and her musician boyfriend who gets her pregnant at 17 then runs off,  Rae wants absolutely nothing to do with Gabe when she pulls him out of the ditch. He doesn’t stop his pursuit,  and soon the songs start flowing. Now he just has to convince her why she should stay!

As the lead songwriter for Jacob’s Ladder, the last thing Gabe Renard needs is a debilitating case of writer’s block. After years of meaningless one night stands, he’s finding it hard to pen the love-filled ballads the label is requesting. In an effort to clear his mind, Gabe takes his jeep off-roading in the North Georgia Mountains. When a wrong-turn leads to him getting stuck more than just creatively, he’s forced to call for help. To his surprise, the “Ray” who has been sent by Hart Wreckers to his aid is actually “Rae”—a sexy-as-hell spitfire in a pair of tight-as-hell jeans. The combination of Rae’s sassy mouth and rocking body might be the inspiration Gabe needs. But for the first time since becoming a rock star, his advances have been shot down.

Reagan Hart has never been a fan of musicians. In fact, just the mention of one might cause her to throw a tire tool. Her disgust for them started when she was just eight and her mother ran off with a traveling country singer, and it only worsened when at seventeen, her rocker boyfriend knocked her up before blowing out of town. As a single mother taking care of her family’s collision business, Rae doesn’t have time for hook ups, much less a relationship. And if she did make time, a musician would be last on her list, even one as good-looking as Gabe Renard.

Can Gabe find the words to prove not only to Rae, but himself, that she’s the only one for him?

My tirade was interrupted by my phone ringing. It was Eli.

“Hey man, are you alive?” he questioned.

“Yes, I am.”

“Are you just saying that because the Deliverance people who kidnapped you are forcing you to say that? Cough once into the phone if you’re not okay.”

Rolling my eyes, I laughed in spite of myself. “I have not been abducted by any Deliverance people. I am here in Hayesville of my own volition.”

“Yes, it’s your volition that’s questionable. I mean, you said yourself they don’t even have a Starbucks. What could you possibly still be doing there?”

“Actually, I’m here writing.”

Eli sucked in a breath. “Holy shit. You are?”

When I’d called him the day before, I hadn’t told him anything about Rae or songwriting. Since everything had still been up in the air with her, I’d just told him I was just staying in Hayesville to get away. “Yeah, man. I’ve gotten two songs done already.”

“I’m so fucking proud of you.”

“Thanks. I’m not gonna lie, it sure feels good to be putting words on paper. They’re good words, too, and you know I wouldn’t just say that.”

“I sure do. You are your own worst critic. When were you planning on sharing them with me and Abs?”

“Are you still at Jake and Abby’s?”

“No. I came back to Atlanta the day you left.”

“As soon as I get back to the hotel, I’ll Google Hangout with you guys and play what I have.” At the familiar tingle running up my spine, I said, “Strike that. I think I’m feeling something new coming on.”

“Seriously?”

“Yeah. I’m not too surprised considering I was just with—” I abruptly cut myself off. For reasons I didn’t understand, I didn’t feel ready to tell Eli about Rae.

“You were just with who?”

“Nobody. Forget it.”

“Look, if you’ve fallen in love with some hillbilly woman named Earlene, it’s okay. You don’t have to be ashamed.”

I laughed. “Considering I’ve only been gone for forty-eight hours, I’m not quite sure how I could have fallen in love with a hillbilly.”

“You never know—they move fast.”

“How the hell would you know? Past experience?”

“Just an observation.”

“Whatever.” A knock came on the Jeep’s window, causing my phone to fly out of my hand and onto the passenger seat. When I glanced over, Rae was grinning at me. After I rolled down the window, I said, “Hey.”

“Hey. Listen, I was thinking instead of coming over here, you should just come to the shop to pick me and Linc up. Dad lives closer to the shop than here.”

“Okay. I’ll see you at the shop.”

She smiled. “Okay.” Jerking her chin, she added, “Now get the hell out of here so I can go to work.”

“I’m on it.”

After she waved and headed back to her car, I leaned over and picked up my phone. I knew there wasn’t a chance in hell that Eli had hung up. The minute he heard a female voice, he would be hanging on to every word he possibly could. “Hey. I’m back.”

“Was that Earlene?” he asked teasingly as I cranked the Jeep up.

“No, smartass. Her name is Rae.”

“Sounds like you guys are having dinner tonight.”

“We are, at her father’s house,” I replied as I backed out of Rae’s driveway.

“Mmhmm.”

I laughed. “Like that’s all you have to say. I mean, don’t hurt yourself holding back.”

“It’s just that you said it would be impossible to have fallen in love with a hillbilly girl in two days, yet here you are having dinner with a woman. Not only that, you’re having dinner with her family. Do we need Selma to prepare a press release on your impending nuptials?”

“Har fucking har.”

“Hey, you told me not to hold back. I mean, you’re already eating dinner with her parents—what am I supposed to think?”

“It’s not like that with Rae.”

“Then enlighten me.”

I sucked in a deep breath before unloading the soap opera of what had transpired.

“Holy shit,” Eli remarked when I finished.

“Yeah. Pretty much.”

“I can’t believe you found your muse in the backwoods.”

“It surprised the hell out of me as well, but I’m not going to question it.”

“I wouldn’t either.” After pausing for a moment, Eli asked, “So she’s beautiful, huh?”

“Gorgeous, but not like the fake women I usually go after. She’s real.”

“She’s real or her tits are real?”

Groaning, I replied, “Once again, it’s not like that with her.”

“It’s not like that because she won’t let it be like that,” Eli countered, amusement vibrating in his voice. It was times like these I lamented having a twin brother who knew exactly how my brain worked.

“Yeah, it’s true that she shot me down, but I’m glad she did.”

“Seriously?”

“If we had fucked, who knows what would have happened to my songwriting mojo? I might still be blocked.”

“That’s one way to look at it, and a very mature way, I might add.”

I snickered. “I’m not sure I would trust your judgment on what’s mature.”

Eli laughed. “Whatever. So you really think you have another song brewing?”

“Yep. I’m pulling into the hotel now. Just as soon as I can get to my pen and journal, I’m at it again. Once I get to a stopping point, I’ll text you about doing a Google Hangout with Abby.”

“Sounds good. I’ll call her and let her know what’s going on.”

“Thanks, man. I probably need to text Jake and tell him I’ll be commandeering his Jeep for a little while longer.”

“I don’t think he’ll mind, especially if you’re finally getting the words you need. When do you think you’ll be back?”

“I’m not leaving here until I have enough to fill the album—or until my mojo runs out.”

“I’ll be interested to see what you come up with, but more than the songs, I’m interested to see how things pan out with Rae.”

“You mean you’ll be interested to see if we finally bang.”

“Actually, I was thinking more long-term than that.” Really, Eli?

“Like a relationship?”

“Bingo.”

“Get real, bro.”

“You’re the one who needs to get real, not me.”

“It’s not happening.”

“We’ll see.”

Scowling at the phone, I replied, “If you don’t have anything else to do but give me shit about Rae, I’ll let you go. Unlike someone else I know, I have work to do.”

Eli chuckled. “Whatever, man. Call me when you’re done penning our next CMA winner.”

“I don’t know about that, but I’ll let you know when the next song is done.

“You do that—oh, and tell Rae hello for me.”

“I will.”

“And thanks for putting up with my knuckleheaded brother.”

I laughed. “Goodbye, Eli.”

“Bye, Gabe.”

Hooking Up by Helena Hunting

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I first met Amie and Lex in Shacking Up and again in Eye Candy (Hello, Gladiator Lex), I knew their story was one I NEEDED like air to breathe. The initial flirting, playful banter, and sexual tension was an instant HIGH. After a small hit, I had to have MORE. I also had to know if justice would be served to the A-man with the small pencil down below. Spoiler alert: The sweet justice dished out to the anti-hero A, was the icing on the cake.

Like little brother, Bane, Lexington ‘Lex’ is ALL ALPHA. A god. He so smokin’ hot and with a big heart!!! This melt-worthy man OWNS ME for life. Just YES!!! Lex is HERO PERFECTION, a lethal mix of hotness and heart that will have you wishing for a hook up with him.

”It’s okay, baby, I get it. know I’m irresistible.”

Amie is back and not the controlled and refined woman she was before. She is a full-on firecracker ready to take back her life! I ADORED her!!! Amie is a sassy and smart beauty, a heroine you’d want as your bestie.

Still nursing wounds from a wreck of a relationship, Amie is out to rediscover herself, recover the old Amie who valued herself most and lived, laughed, and had fun.

One night and it could have been Lex. It always should have been Lex. It should have been the man made for Amie.

I missed my chance before but maybe now I can be part of what helps put her back together.

Collision after collision has Lex and Amie together again. It’s as if a force is pulling them, a strong tide. A force of fate.

”I can only behave myself for so long.”

Maybe I don’t want you to behave.”

23270308_1504159183014478_8575864469408181648_o

This hero and heroine EXPLODE TOGETHER!!! Their chemistry is COMBUSTIBLE. Their passion is PALPABLE. Their union is UNSTOPPABLE!!! I felt their chemistry steam off the pages, a blaze of fire that burnt me everywhere!!!

I crush my mouth to Amelie’s…It’s not a very coordinated kiss. It’s messy and teeth-clashing. It’s want and need. It’s possession. Hers and mine.

Together, Lex and Amie were so MAGICAL!!!This hero and heroine are fused by FATE, making their story even more special. These two were created for each other. I loved them both so much!

”Tell me you don’t feel this pull.”

Hooking Up is heart-stopping sexy meets saucy and sweet—a romance you’ll want to hook up with NOW!! This story is a sensual SLOW BURN that blazed though me everywhere! I was ENRAPTURED!!! Hooking Up HIJACKED ME from the start, quickly becoming a HIGH, one I felt the whole time reading. I LOVED this romance fused by fate, bathed in blazing heat, and felt with love. I felt the POWERFUL PULL of Hooking Up so hard, a story I couldn’t put down. Hooking Up is ALL THAT and MORE!!!

💋💋💋💋💋 hot and heartfelt ‘Sexy Lexy’ kisses

synopsis.jpg

Amalie Whitfield is the picture of a blushing bride during her wedding reception–but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of proclaiming his undying love, her husband can be heard, by Amalie and their guests, getting off with someone else. She has every reason to freak out, and in a moment of insanity, she throws herself at the first hot-blooded male she sees. But he’s not interested in becoming her revenge screw.

Mortified and desperate to escape the post-wedding drama, Amalie decides to go on her honeymoon alone, only to find the man who rejected her also heading to the same tiny island for work. But this time he isn’t holding back. She should know better than to sleep with someone she knows, but she can’t seem to resist him.

They might agree that what happens on the island should stay on the island, but neither one can deny that their attraction is more than just physical.

Filled with hilariously scandalous situations and enough sexual chemistry to power an airplane from New York City to the South Pacific, Hooking Up is the next standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from Helena Hunting, the New York Times bestselling author of the Pucked series and Shacking Up.

Review – Personal Escort by Ainsley Booth

Personal Escort cover

Review graphic

Oh, Cara and Toby! Your best friends to lovers romance is just as wonderful the second and third time around…

When I first read Personal Escort in Love In Transit, I fell for these two immediately. It was easy to love the determined scientist and the man who was her brother’s best friend. From the beginning, there was a spark and a changing relationship built on affection and the strongest friendship. Toby has always felt a warmth and fondness for Cara. He wanted to protect her, give her her wings and support her in anyway that that he could. He never expected his best friend’s little sister to grow up and well, GROW up.

Cara knows the moment that her life changes and it’s not when the meddling Nana Rosso demands that she find a husband and take her place in the family business. It’s the first press of her lips to Toby’s lips. The deepening of the kiss and the hold it takes on her heart, mind and body. A kiss leads to more intimate chats, a friendship that grows and becomes the best part of her life. Love creeps up on these two and neither of them see it coming.

This was GLORIOUS! Cara and Toby’s relationship was so easy… effortless in its evolution. The years between them was no matter. The distance between them – Cara in Toronto, Toby in California – only made their attraction burn hotter. Toby is a true romantic at heart while Cara simply wants to pursue her career in peace. Still it wouldn’t hurt to have this man at her side. The romance between them is swoony, sensuous and just plain perfection. There is no one quite like Tobias Alexander Hunt. A sexy co-conspirator with a wonderful sense of humor, protective and a best friend unlike any other. Don’t forget alpha. When Toby says surrender, you do.

Personal Escort was delightful read! It only got better every time that I read it. I only fell harder for this amazing billionaire whose best friend’s little sister slowly became his entire world. Toby’s willingness to do all that he could to make Cara happy even going along with her crazy schemes made me laugh and sigh. Cara’s fight with her own insecurity and meddling from her family made me understand her need for independence. The slow satisfying burn between them was fantastic! I just loved this!

FANTASTIC, Ainsley!  Five Toby is Everything Stars!

Review – Falling Fast by Aurora Rose Reynolds

falling fast cover

Review graphic

This was another amazing story from Aurora Rose Reynolds!

When we first met Gia Caro and Colton Allyster back in Until June, it was easy to see that these two had a something so worth reading more about. Colton was clearly in command and had no problem letting Gia know that she was his and would not stop until she could admit with her mouth what was in her heart. Watching them develop their own BOOM in Falling Fast was a fun, emotional roller coaster ride full of sass, steam and one seriously sexy alpha.

These two have had their fair share of loss, anger and hurt. They shared more in common than they knew when they began their relationship. Gia had been lied to, abandoned and left with a stepmother who tolerated her existence after her father passed away. The one person that could have eased the grief of her father’s death was the grandmother who was her bridge to her mother. Lies kept them apart. Colton was left with a broken heart and an empty soul after being abandoned in his darkest hour by a woman he thought he would share his life – in sickness and in health. He fought and almost died for his country only to lose everything that mattered during his recovery.

Something so very important these two shared was a love for family and all the messy bonds and sacrifices that come with it. It was nothing for Gia to drop everything and return to the small town in Tennessee to be with her ailing and slowly deteriorating grandmother. It was nothing to be the one to care for her and to try to fit ten years of separation into what little time was left. It was that family bond that meant Colton would take his place in the family business, care for his mother and listen intently to the good advice given to him from his father. As surely as it was not expected, love would change everything for Gia and Colton after one chance meeting.

The attraction between these two burned so bright, intense and needy. But what a great ride it was! Colton was so alpha and commanding like those Mayson men that we are all fond of. Gia was determined to not fall under Colton’s dominating allure, only to fall harder than she ever imagined. This story was a feel good, laugh out loud, swoon and sigh read that I loved from the first page to the last. Colton and Gia made me love them wholeheartedly and cheer for two lost and broken people who fought and found all that they needed in each other, learning to leave the past in the past and working for something beautiful and worthwhile together.

This was amazing! Just amazing and I cannot wait to see where this series will go next!

FANTASTIC, ARR!

Colton Allyster is relieved to be back home. After a year of rehabilitation, losing his career as a Marine along with his fiancé, he’s had to learn quickly what’s really important. Colton grew up wanting to serve his country. Managing his parents’ biker bar was never part of his plan, but after meeting Gia Caro, he’s beginning to think that’s exactly where he’s meant to be.

Ever since Gia Caro arrived in the small, sleepy town of Ruby Falls, Tennessee, her life has spiraled out of control. Between losing her grandmother a little more each day to dementia, and her hot boss’s constant attention, her once quiet existence isn’t so quiet anymore.

After weeks of sidestepping Colton, things get out of hand, and before Gia knows what’s happening, she’s spending her nights in his bed and her mornings in his kitchen. And as he cleans out drawers and makes room in his closet, she starts to wonder if she’s falling too fast.

Women often say a good man is hard to find. And a hard man is even better.

That’s why I’m quite a catch– good, hard, loaded, and wait for it…I’m ready to settle down too. But the woman I want to pitch my tent with lives clear across the country. Neither of us wants to get lost in those woods. All I have to do is resist her for the week she’s in town.

I try. I swear I try. But yeah, that doesn’t work out.

And after one fantastic night with my good friend Mia, I’m ready to give her years of nights under the stars. What’s a few thousand miles when love’s involved? But there’s a hitch in my plans — she just hired my adventure tour company. If there’s one thing I’m committed to, it’s running a squeaky clean business. Number one on my list of iron-clad rules?

Don’t screw your customers.

But what’s a guy to do when she’s so hard to resist? How hard can it be to keep our hands off each other for a quick group tour down the hills and over the trails? I’m about to find out, and I have a feeling I’m going to need a new badge of honor because things are about to get very hard in the woods.

FB_IMG_1494244623114

I let go of her hand and thread my fingers through her hair. “Get on me.”

Then I grab her hips and move her so she’s straddling my lap. She gasps, a sexy noise that turns into a moan as she sinks down on my hard-on.

I hiss because it feels so fucking good.

“I wanted to come over the other night. After dinner. After the elevator,” she blurts out.

“Yeah?”

She nods. “Dinner ran late, but I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”

“What were you thinking?”

“That we didn’t get to kiss, and I wanted to so badly.”

“I can fix that problem right now.”

I take her face in my hands and bring her to me. Then the world spirals away as I kiss Mia Summers for the very first time.

It’s extraordinary. Her lips brush against mine, and she wastes no time. She slides closer, rubbing on my dick as she presses her chest to me. It’s as if she’s climbing me, and God, how I want this. How I want her like this.

I thread my fingers through her hair, pulling her closer, kissing her deeper. Tasting her. Her mouth is soft and sweet, and she makes these little sounds—whimpers, sighs, gasps—that make me nearly lose my mind.

I’m kissing Mia. I’ve been crazy for her for so damn long, and she’s on my lap, rubbing against my erection, kissing me as if her every last breath depends on it. Her tongue tangles with mine, and in a hot second, the kiss become furious. Greedy. Like two people who are mad about each other. I curl my hands around her head, wanting to get as close as I can, but she bats them away.

I break contact for a moment and raise a questioning eyebrow.

“My turn.” She lifts her hands, cups my cheeks, and then she strokes my jaw. Reverently. Hungrily. And I know what she’s doing. She’s feeling my beard. She’s touching my stubbled jaw with eager fingers, as if she’s wanted to get her hands on me for as long as I’ve wanted to touch her.

I don’t stop her. I drop my hands to her hips, and I guide her along, moving her so she grinds against my cock, and she’s gasping and murmuring as she kisses me.

We consume each other. We are ravenous. My brain turns to static, firing pleasure signal after pleasure signal to every nerve in my body. I want to live in this moment for the rest of the night. I don’t ever want to forget how good it feels not only to kiss her, but to be kissed by her.

She rocks harder, goes faster, murmurs louder, then she separates and looks at me with desperate eyes. “You have no idea.”

I shake my head. “I do. I have every idea.”

Review  – Brash by JC Valentine

5 out of 5 stars

I didnt realize until just now that this was book 4 in the series. That being said,  I would’ve never known had I not just came to write this review. It makes sense now that I think about because there is a lot of history there, but I read through the story without feeling lost in anyway.
Each chapter was different characters other than Taco and Bambi which fills you in completely on the story taking place. I definitely free a need to go back and read the first 3 books now.
Bambi and Taco had a rollercoaster ride of a relationship. Fireworks definitely exploded in so many ways. I’m not talking about just in the bedroom. Secrets are uncovered and hearts are bared.  I definitely will be waiting for book 5.

USA Today and International bestselling author J.C. Valentine is back with the latest in her captivating, enigmatic, and rousing world of the Spartan Riders MC…

She has a secret she’s desperate to keep…

With danger looming on the horizon, former FBI agent turned bunny, Bambi Lane, isn’t taking any chances. Taking refuge in a nearby town, she builds a new and comfortable life under the radar, but when trouble comes knocking on her door, she finds that the one thing she’s worked so hard to protect is about to be exposed.

He has a desire that won’t be denied.

Curtis “Taco” Nash, the Spartan’s road captain, has always marched to the beat of his own drum, his only loyalty to that of his brothers and the club. Only one person has ever successfully clawed their way under Curtis Nash’s skin, and when she disappeared from his life without so much as a goodbye, he wrote her off—at least, he tried to. One mention of the one who got away, and he’s consumed with desire—and anger. He wants answers. He wants her. He’s about to get a lot more than he bargained for.

As the war between the cartel and the Spartans heats up, Taco has to decide if he’s going to protect his brothers or the new life that’s waiting for him. When everything hangs in the balance, one thing is clear: No one is safe. Will Bambi and Taco be able to come together and find the strength to take a leap of faith before time runs out?

EXCERPTS: BRASH, A Spartan Riders MC Romance by J.C. Valentine

EXCERPT #1

Lucina Cruiz was the devil. Wow, how many times had she heard that sentiment before? It always made her laugh though. She so enjoyed the fear in a man’s eyes before she cut them out. Even more, she enjoyed their screams, especially those last frantic pleas for mercy. The only thing she loathed was the constant lack of creativity.

One would think that staring death in the face would inspire some originality. Hell, it always inspired her, but then, she was the one doling it out, so maybe that was the difference. Still, she was a little bored with the whole “devil” nametag. It was becoming…cliché.

Perhaps she could hold a seminar about it.

Dressed in a brand new white satin negligée, Luciana stood over Manuel’s sleeping form. In her hand was the push dagger he kept in the top drawer in the table beside the bed. He had another under his pillow and a gun to go along with it.

Manuel had toys stashed all over the house, and she knew where every single one of them were hidden. No one did anything under her nose without her knowing about it.

As she did almost every night, Luciana waited for Manuel to fall asleep, and then she took out that dagger and stood over him, watching him sleep as she wondered how and when she’d do it. Kill him, that is.

It was on her to-do list, so it would happen. It wasn’t a matter of if, but when.

Just as she did every night, she lost track of time. Hours passed while she stared at him, memorizing his lithe form, those thick, muscular thighs and tight abs. He had the most beautiful face she’d ever seen on a man, but he was a killer. Just like her.

Two killers, both with ambitions, couldn’t coexist side by side. One day, it was going to come down to survival, and Lucina was determined to come out on top. She wasn’t called the Mantis for nothing.

EXCERPT #2

Who the fuck was this douche canoe? Taco had been sitting outside the little ranch-style house with the ugly box hedges and stone and weed planter boxes debating what to say once he saw Bambi when Khaki Man came strolling up the walkway.

At first, Taco thought he was a salesman, but it became quickly obvious that he was there for something more personal. Maybe it was the grocery store flowers and the bag of goodies that tipped him off. Taco was observant like that.

Douche canoe must be the new boyfriend, he thought with disdain as he watched him barter, and knowing Bambi, he had been certain the next course of action would be seeing Mr. Khaki do the walk of shame.

But she’d welcomed the fucker inside.

That had made Taco’s blood boil. He didn’t like the idea of her with another man, and he sure as shit didn’t like seeing another man with her. That he was in her house at all sent Taco’s thoughts spiraling down into a dark place.

He had to exercise every ounce of patience to make himself stay planted in his car, a newly rebuilt IROC. He’d figured it would be better to roll up in a car than on a motorcycle, especially if she had a kid. Made him look more responsible.

Shit, why did he even care what she thought? It wasn’t as if she was waiting around for him, pining away. She had a fucking man in her house, and he was the one sitting outside like a damn stalker.

Taco had his hand on the key, about to start the car and get the hell out of there, when Khakis came strolling out carrying a car seat in one hand and a baby in the other. Bambi was hot on his ass, and she was glowing.

She was wearing a pair of blue jeans and a pink, V-neck T-shirt that showed off a lot more cleavage than he remembered her having. Taco looked her over a little closer, noting that her hips seems a little rounder, her stomach a little softer, and her thighs a little heavier.

Damn, she looked good. She’d always been sexy, but now she was…hotter. Sexier.

“Shit,” Taco hissed. No way was she just babysitting that kid. All those new curves? Those were from pregnancy. She’d run off to have a fucking baby.

The question now was, whose kid was it, his or Mr. Rogers?

EXCERPT #3

He wanted his answers—now. Grabbing the handle, he twisted the knob and went inside.

Bambi was laying the baby down in a white, lacy bassinette beside the bed. When she looked over her shoulder at him, it was with pure malice. “I just got him to sleep. Don’t make a sound. Don’t even breathe,” she whispered.

Taco wasn’t sure what to do. He suddenly found himself out of his element. He’d been around kids before, of course. They were crawling around the compound like cockroaches every weekend, especially during the daylight hours. He always tried to steer clear of that chaos. He didn’t dislike kids, not at all. But he didn’t have an affinity for them either.

Bambi backed away slowly, as if she were trying not to detonate a grenade. She moved so slowly and carefully, Taco rolled his eyes in exasperation.

“We need to talk,” he told her.

The instant his voice hit the room, the kid started shifting around, and Bambi froze in place. Taco didn’t see what the big deal was. He stepped farther inside and took a closer look at the wiggling person.

Bambi’s arm shot out. “I told you not to make a sound.”

“What’s the big deal?”

Then the kid started squirming in earnest, little mewling sounds squeaking out here and there, gaining in frequency and momentum until it was outright fussing, verging on a full-on tantrum.

“He’s a light sleeper,” Bambi said, her voice thick with irritation as she went back to the bassinette and tried to soothe the baby with a gentle hand on his belly. It wasn’t working. The more she tried to soothe, the more it squirmed.

“I don’t think it’s working,” Taco told her helpfully. Except the look she shot him told him his input wasn’t appreciated.

That’s when the baby started crying in earnest. “Thanks a lot,” she snapped at Taco as she scooped the baby up into her arms. “Do you have any idea how long it takes me to get him down for his nap?”

“Should I?”

Her mouth opened, but whatever she was going to say, she didn’t. Instead, she stormed up to him and thrust the red-faced human at him. “Here, I need to go to the bathroom.”

Taco’s reaction was to step back several paces. “What the hell am I supposed to do with it?”

She came at him again, matching each of his steps until they were back in the living room. “You hold him. That’s what you do.” She shoved the kid at him again, forcing it against his chest, and the look in her eyes said she wasn’t going to relent until he did.

Hesitantly, Taco’s hands slowly rose and latched onto the baby’s waist. It was solid and squishy, squirmy like an earthworm, and it was very, very unhappy. “Is it supposed to look like that?”

It is a boy, and he’s just upset. He’ll calm down in a minute. He just needs to be held.”

“I’m not sure about this. Can’t you just…take him with you?” The kid was looking at him, eyes all red and watery, lips pouty as he tried get a hold of himself.

“Well get sure. I’ll only be a minute.” Bambi stalked off, and for some reason Taco was pretty sure that she was going to take her sweet time.

When she was out of sight, he looked at the kid again. Held at arm’s length, they stared at each other, one stoic while the other did that sniffle-hiccup thing. “Yeah, I feel ya, buddy. I kind of feel like crying right now too. But ya know what? It looks like we’re stuck with each other for a few, so you gotta man up. This world isn’t made for criers.”

The baby just stared at him, but he was pulling it together, his face returning to its normal peachy color, eyes the same shade of blue as his own clearing.

“Glad to see we understand each other.”

EXCERPT #4

She’d witnessed the good, the bad, and the ugly of club life, and she’d gotten close enough to the flame to get burned. She should know better by now not to put her heart on the line, but it was already too late for that.

Hips flexing involuntarily—or maybe completely on purpose—Curtis didn’t even try to hold back his pained moan. “I want to fuck you so goddamn hard.”

“Then do it,” Bambi urged, surprised at herself for encouraging him when there was no way this could end well. They had so much water under the bridge, broken trust being among the biggest of their problems. But she wanted him. God help her, she wanted him so bad. It was as if all of those nights she’d tossed and turned, dreaming of this moment had finally come true. How could she turn him away now, when it was within her grasp?

“I don’t think you understand,” he said darkly. “I want to ram my cock in you so hard, you see stars. I want you to scream in pleasure and in pain. I want to hurt you, dollface, just like you hurt me.” He squeezed her breast again, releasing a warm rush of milk that soaked his hand and her shirt. “I want to see your pretty face stained with tears while you beg for more.”

Yes! God yes, she wanted it. She wanted his rough hands on her body, his harsh words in her ears. She wanted this man and all his brutality. She welcomed the punishment, needed it.

“Is that what you want? Because if it’s not, say so now, and I’ll walk back out that door.”

Her eyes widened in panic, remembering when he’d left early and how much that had hurt. She didn’t want that to happen ever again.

CuffedbyK. Bromberg

My rating:5 of 5 stars

We forget the memories and just chase the moments.

When you read a story and you can feel the author’s heart in her words…well…it’s the best feeling in the world! K. Bromberg can make you FEEL ALL THE THINGS! I FELT K. Bromberg in CUFFED, her latest romance entailing a hot cop hero with a huge heart and the woman he forever saves.

I fell in love with Cuffed from the Synopsis alone. I had not even sunk myself into the story but I KNEW it would be a heart-thrashing hit. Then the Prologue both melted and shattered my heart, and I was a GONER!!! After the Prologue, I realized: Cuffed is not simply a hot cop story with a little heart; it is a heartfelt and heart-wrenching tale with ALL THE HEART!!! My emotions took wind of their own and flew where I lost control, control of which I would have willingly surrendered.

HEAD UP. WINGS OUT.

Through her emotionally-woven stories like Cuffed, K. Bromberg drags readers through the dark and then shines the light, so PROMISING and POWERFUL.She portrays the good that grows from bad that triumphs over evil. It’s the strength in spades from this compelling author’s characters who survive severe storms, breaking free from the pain of the past to finally stay in the sunshine, which RESONATES long after the last page. With heroes and heroines who are as bold as they are beautiful, K. Bromberg’s characters in Cuffed and her other work are like her words: as MESMERIZING as they are MEANINGFUL.

Beautiful and broken, Emerson has been knocked down in life, her spirit and soul shattered. Her heart is practically encased in armor, protecting it…protecting her. Emerson has lost trust in the world, one that has constantly let her down. Oh did I want to hug this heroine whose heartbreak became mine, a heroine I quickly adored!

Emerson’s wings are broken until one hero swoops in from her childhood…

”I don’t need a hero.”

Hero Teaser

A persistent hero who helps her fly.

HEAD UP. WINGS OUT.

Officer Grant Malone is one HOT cop with a huge heart! He is fierce, flirty, and oh-so-sexy! Grant is a hero in every way who does the right thing, even if it risks his life and puts his job on the line.

This collision of past with present, dark with light, and a whole lot of fate was INEVITABLE.

”So sure of yourself, are you?”

“You’ve never been able to say no to me, Emerson.”

The banter BURNED me!!! Grant and Emerson possess the perfect of amount of passion and playfulness that had me HOOKED on them! Just MAGICAL together!!! This story SPARKS to life!!!

”You make me feel when I don’t want to feel.”

Young beautiful pair of lovers hug and kiss

Grant, this hot cop and heartfelt hero, POSSESSED ME!!! Grant helps Emerson mend her wings that were destroyed, and I LOVED how he helps Emerson save herself. I LOVED everything about this alpha with all the heart! I was SMITTEN with Emerson, so beautiful and brave, with strength in spades. I LOVED this heroine as much as the hero!

”You always say I’m the hero, but you’re the one who saved me.”

Cuffed is not simply a hot cop romance; it’s so MUCH MORE!!! This SOUL-SHATTERING story shows that beauty can bleed from the ugly. It’s a tale that tackles tough issues—so thought-provoking—that forever remain. It’s a story about hope after heartbreak and happiness after hope. It’s a story of STRENGTH and SURVIVAL, one that stomps on your heart and steals your smiles along with your breath.Cuffed is about taking that leap of faith…living for the moment…living life now.

”You have to be all in or get all out. There is no halfway when it comes to love.”

Cuffed lightens with banter while bringing battles to life—conquering demons deeply within—in one HEAVY and HEARTFELT story. Sexy yet sweet. Dark yet light. Turbulent yet tender. Broken yet beautiful. Cuffed is a fusion of fire and ice, a riveting romance that hits and holds the heart until the end. Oh was my heart hit!!! My soul shattered and soared!!! This story stole my breath and took my tears. I felt it all in this HEART-POUNDING JOURNEY, one that leaves a permanent mark on the heart!!!

HEAD UP. WINGS OUT.

I’m still flying…SO HIGH!!!

From the New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, comes a new series about three brothers, the job that calls them, and the women who challenge them.“I hate you. I never want to see you again.”Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville—at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade, ring in my ears every time a townsperson brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again.Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons—sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer. But Grant is off limits because he knows too much about my past. But I’m drawn to him. That damn uniform of his doesn’t hurt either. It’ll be my downfall. I know it. What’s one night of sex going to hurt . . . right? ***I’ve always loved Emmy Reeves. That’s why I’m shocked to see her all these years later. The shy girl I once knew is all grown up.Adventurous and full of life, she owns my heart now, just as much as she did back then. Convincing her of that is a whole different story.I’ll give her the one night she asks for—like that’s a hardship—but when it comes to letting her walk away after, she has another thing coming. There’s no way in hell I’m letting her go this time without a fight.

Review – Dignity by Jay Crownover

Dignity AMAZON

Dignity by Jay Crownover

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

”The things we have to work for are the things we appreciate the most.”

With each story that Jay Crownover pens to life in The Point/Breaking Point series, I FALL HARDER IN LOVE!!! With each story, I sink so far into this saga that is the best fusion of villains and heroes! With each story, the line is blurred among the Marked Men and those dark heroes of The Point where I am almost hard-pressed to choose a favorite.

Dignity struck my soul like a match, lighting it on fire, as I burned in anger as much as I bled tears. This broken hero and heroine made me break, shattering into pieces, where I wanted justice for them. I wanted revenge. I wanted to avenge … every wrong … every piece of past and present pain that hit these characters … EVERYTHING!!!

Stark, this dark hero supposedly without a heart, stole my heart! This hot nerd has all the intelligence and power. His pain was mine. Stark set me on fire! My body was on fire while my heart bled. This alpha was my addiction.

No one was ever really sure if I was friend or foe.

Stark tows the line between hero and villain. His heart is made of ice until one woman made it melt.

”Sometimes you find the person who makes you want more, and you have to decide how much you’re willing to give.”

Noe is as equally brave as she is beautiful. This heroine has strength in spades but her smarts stand out most of all. I loved her strength and admired her courage to risk it all for justice like the superhero she has become.

The guy was a monster and I loved everything about being pinned and held against all that strength.

A fight for justice mixed with a quest for survival bring Now and Stark together. United against evil.

”What makes you think this is a fight we can win?”

“Because I can’t afford to lose again.”

Though it’s the fire that burns between Noe and Stark that is impossible to ignore. Their intelligence ignites as much as that fire where I felt an UNDENIABLE PULL between this hero and heroine.

He became the only thing I could see. The only thing I could feel. The only thing I could think about.

RDL_Teaser_Dignity2

Together, Noe and Stark are mesmerizing … just magical! This is a couple fighting fate and all the odds. I loved watching them conquer their demons! Stark and Noe have a shared bond that neither can grasp nor get….one not of merely lovers but of intelligent and powerful equals…one of perhaps soulmates.

”I don’t have much … but I want to give all to you.”

Dignity is a deep dive of mind and matter where every word matters!!! Brains are even sexier than beauty and brawn. I loved the ultra smart hero and heroine who were even stronger superheroes together. In this SOUL SLAYER, intelligence rules and is a weapon of reckoning that wrecks havoc in an ALLURING world where heroes are and villains are heroes.

RDL_Teaser_Dignity1

Bad has never been so good!!! Jay Crownover makes you love the ‘baddest’ of bad boys in her powerful The Point and Breaking Point novels, the men who sway from criminals to heroes, the boyfriends that mothers would hide from if you brought them home, the boys you should probably run from too…but you won’t, as you can’t help but adore these saints and sinners.

Jay Crownover’s writing reaches inside deeply, grabs your heart, holding it in its hands, and then both hits and hugs it so hard. Her stories—as insightful as they are emotional—make you THINK as much as FEEL. This visionary writes words that delve deeply into complex characters that are always so much more than their names, reputations, pasts, and more.

People were always something more than a simple label.

With each story Jay Crownover brings to life, I fall deeper into her spell that I’ve dubbed ‘Crownover Crack’ since meeting this author’s first masterpiece, Rule, years ago. This author opens your eyes with her words where you will find yourself quickly removing any preconceptions you may think or feel. I’ll never stop loving the best blend of black and white that Jay Crownover writes.

Dignity is ELECTRIC—an EXHILARATING RUSH of a romance that bleeds black and white into the perfect shade of gray. This SOUL-THRASHING story leaves judgement at the door and shows the finest of lines that exist between good and evil. Dignity hit my heart hard, wrecking it—wrecking me—in the best way!!! I LOVED this romantic thriller!!! Both haunting and heroic, Dignity is a HEADY and HEART-POUNDING JOURNEY worthy of its title and more!

Looks can be deceiving.

I knew that most people took one look at the ink and the impossibly big and strong body it covered and decided I was a brawler…a bruiser…a beast. However, I was hardwired to be a thinker, not a fighter—my mind being my greatest weapon and my biggest weakness.

I should have chosen to use my brain and talents to be one of the good guys, a hero, a man with dignity and worth.

I turned my back on dignity and sold my soul to the highest bidder, deciding to dance with the devil, instead.

I couldn’t figure out how to help myself, so there was zero chance I knew how to save someone else.

That someone else was Noe Lee. She was the unkempt, unruly thief who was just as smart as I was and twice as street savvy. She was annoyingly adorable beneath the dirt and grime and she was in trouble. In way over her head, I told myself it wasn’t my job to keep her from drowning. In the Point, it was sink or swim and I wasn’t the designated lifeguard on duty.

I had shut the door in her face, but now she’s gone…vanished…disappeared without a trace. It took less than a second for me to realize that I wanted her back.

When a woman comes along that melts all the frozen, hard things you’re made of, you’ll do anything you have to, to bring her home.

What you see is not always what you get…and with a man like me there is more than anyone ever bargained for.

FB_IMG_1494244623114

Protective and possessive instincts coiled around my gut and rage felt like it was going to choke me. I was so used to being cold and numb, I didn’t know what to do with the fire that was licking at my insides.

“I saw him take her out of the trunk when they got to the docks. He moved like a cop. Not the kind who is there to actually protect and serve, but the kind who pulls you over for no reason and slaps cuffs on you to prove a point. I was locked up for a lot of years, boy genius. I know what a dirty cop looks like. He had a busted-up nose and stitches on the side of his face. Should be pretty easy for Titus to identify him.”

Titus King was Bax’s half-brother and the only law enforcement officer in the entire city any of us slightly trusted. He was one of the few men the Point hadn’t tainted. He was a good guy, trying to do right by the people in our city, and he wouldn’t hesitate to throw Goddard’s dirty cop under the bus. But I didn’t want anyone going after the Mayor. His sadistic ass was all mine.

“Do you think they made it out of the container after you hit it with the truck?” That had been my idea. Nassir was only sending in Booker and Benny to get Noe out, but I didn’t think it was enough fire power. Since he refused to let me go, even siccing Chuck on me as a babysitter until the job was done, I made Benny go over the plan with me no less than a hundred times until I came up with a better one. Knocking the container sideways with one of the big semi-trucks that littered the area would give Benny the time he needed to get Noe out and distract the outside security detail enough that Booker could do his thing. It was a risk because the people inside the container—including Noe and Benny—might have ended up injured when the thing flipped, but the odds of them making it out were much higher than if Benny tried to take on everyone on his own.

“If Benny made it out, we won’t hear from him again. That was the deal he made with Nassir. He would get your girl and then disappear, so he can go and live happily ever after with his. As for the rest of them,” he shrugged, “I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Your girl said someone had a gun, so if they were shooting at Benny, he would do whatever he could to make sure they stopped. He’s not about to catch a bullet for any of us. I know you want that asshole alive for your own reasons, but honestly, it’s better if Benny popped him.”

It was better, but it wasn’t what I wanted. A bullet between the eyes was way too easy for a guy like Goddard. People would bemoan how bad the Point had become, how Goddard had been a staunch supporter of crime prevention measures. He would die a martyr and a legend. I couldn’t stand the thought of that. I wanted who Goddard was, who he really was, out in the open. I wanted his mansion doors flung wide open and every skeleton inside the walls exposed and thrown out on the perfectly manicured lawn for the entire world to see. I hated people who hid behind the law. I hated when men in any position of power got off on using their elevated status to jerk the helpless and hopeless around. Death wasn’t the answer. Devastation was.

I closed my eyes and squeezed the cold, still hand that was clasped in mine. Failure weighed heavy on my shoulders and fury lit up my blood like popping and sizzling firecrackers.

“When do we ever end up with anything that’s better for us?” That wasn’t how the Point worked. That wasn’t how we worked.

Booker grunted and I felt him move behind me. “It happens. It doesn’t seem like better should be able to find a foothold in this place, but despite all odds, it does.”

Review  – Hurricane by Laramie Briscoe

5 out of 5 stars

I’m starting off by claiming Remy for myself. Laramie,  I told you that we before I even read the book. His character is one of the best MC member’s I’ve ever read. I love his demeanor and humbleness,  and most of all his heart. He is so extremely lovable from the start,  and my heart broke for what happened to him in his past. Despite it all,  he is strong and survives even though he’s lonely.
Tatum is the daughter of the MC prez and is all Remy thinks about. Even a year after a huge mistake tore them apart,  he pines for her and won’t stop until he has her. Once he finally does,  his past comes back to haunt the both and could be the hurricane to tear them apart for good.
This was yet another must read from Laramie and I’ll be anxiously awaiting book 2. I’m pretty sure I know who the characters will be and I can’t be more excited. This is definitely a one click read!

The Prospect and the President’s daughter finally get their HEA…..

Remington “Remy” Sawyer

For most of my life I’ve been the person who lived with the hand he was dealt. Not much in my life have I had a say in. Birthed by parents I don’t talk to, I was raised by the only person who ever cared for me – my brother, Cash. Under his guidance, I’ve become the person I am today.

Productive member of society, and patched brother in the Heaven Hill MC.

I don’t want for anything, other than Tatum Walker.

We had a shot, and we both screwed it up……massively.

Tatum “Tate” Walker

Being the daughter of the President of the Heaven Hill MC is a burden, but one I’ll face every day with pride. It’s hard for me to know what people like me for. Is it my personality, my looks, or are they trying to get close to the Club? There’s one person I’ve never doubted.

Remington Sawyer.

A year ago we had one night of almost passion – that ended with me walking away in tears – and him walking away in anger.

Some time away from each other has given us perspective.

Now, instead of the storm of chaos that was our one attempt at a relationship, we’re both ready for calm.

And nothing, they say, is as calm – as the eye of a Hurricane.

Review – Jax by Cristin Harber

5 out 5 stars

Another Titan book that knocks your socks off.  It’s gritty,  raw,  emotional, action packed, and a scorcher. Cristin once again proves why she is  one of the best with special ops books.
They are an unlikely pair who seem to want to claw each other’s eyes out,  (well Seven does more than Jax). She the MC princess trying to keep the club free of the drug trade. He is a special ops soldier meant to do what needs to be done.
The two get thrust together when things go bad with the MC and cartel. They have to rely on each other if  they or the kids are going to make it out of this alive. A definite must read even if you haven’t read any other Titan books. Can be a standalone.

Seven is an enigma. A motorcycle club princess. The daughter of a notorious gangster. The best friend of the deputy mayor. A coffee shop owner. The single mom of two young, adopted children. She’s colorful, in every way possible—from her attitude to her piercings and bright pink hair—and she’s a woman on a mission with the power to help broker a clean break between a powerful motorcycle club and a South American drug cartel. But not all players are ready for the game to change, including the ones she can’t see like the CIA.

Jax Michaelson has a bad attitude and a good shot. The former Navy SEAL has been on Titan’s problem list for running his mouth since the day he showed up for work, but he does a hell of a job, and they’d never let him go. Call him cocky, that’s fine, because then you’d have to admit he’s the best at anything and everything—except diplomacy.

When Titan is forced into the seedy drug world filled with cartel glitz and Harley-riding MCs, Seven and her family become an unexpected bargaining chip right after she and Jax find a way to stand each other—in bed.

Will friends become lovers? Or are they too far gone to be opposites that attract? Is Jax nothing but a bad boy who leaves her hoping for a military hero when the burden of living as Mayhem royalty backfires and her children disappear.

JAX is a standalone romantic suspense novel by New York Times bestselling author Cristin Harber. It features characters from the Titan, Delta, and Only series, but readers do not have to have read those books to enjoy this one. There’s a guaranteed happily ever after and no cliffhanger! Enjoy!
