Review – Jacob’s Ladder: Gabe by Katie Ashley

5 out of 5 stars

This was my first Katie Ashley book. Definitely not a typical rock star read,  so I  definitely recommend it if you want something different. Two fiery individuals come together after a battle to the end.
Gabe is the song writer for his band, Jacobs Ladder. He  is in a major writing funk and has ventured to no man’s land to try to find his mojo. Before he can even start his adventure,  he gets stuck and has to be towed. He NEVER  expects Ray,  the tow truck driver,  to actually be Rae,  a feisty woman who has a serious aversion to musicians.
After her mom left her for a singer and her musician boyfriend who gets her pregnant at 17 then runs off,  Rae wants absolutely nothing to do with Gabe when she pulls him out of the ditch. He doesn’t stop his pursuit,  and soon the songs start flowing. Now he just has to convince her why she should stay!

As the lead songwriter for Jacob’s Ladder, the last thing Gabe Renard needs is a debilitating case of writer’s block. After years of meaningless one night stands, he’s finding it hard to pen the love-filled ballads the label is requesting. In an effort to clear his mind, Gabe takes his jeep off-roading in the North Georgia Mountains. When a wrong-turn leads to him getting stuck more than just creatively, he’s forced to call for help. To his surprise, the “Ray” who has been sent by Hart Wreckers to his aid is actually “Rae”—a sexy-as-hell spitfire in a pair of tight-as-hell jeans. The combination of Rae’s sassy mouth and rocking body might be the inspiration Gabe needs. But for the first time since becoming a rock star, his advances have been shot down.

Reagan Hart has never been a fan of musicians. In fact, just the mention of one might cause her to throw a tire tool. Her disgust for them started when she was just eight and her mother ran off with a traveling country singer, and it only worsened when at seventeen, her rocker boyfriend knocked her up before blowing out of town. As a single mother taking care of her family’s collision business, Rae doesn’t have time for hook ups, much less a relationship. And if she did make time, a musician would be last on her list, even one as good-looking as Gabe Renard.

Can Gabe find the words to prove not only to Rae, but himself, that she’s the only one for him?

My tirade was interrupted by my phone ringing. It was Eli.

“Hey man, are you alive?” he questioned.

“Yes, I am.”

“Are you just saying that because the Deliverance people who kidnapped you are forcing you to say that? Cough once into the phone if you’re not okay.”

Rolling my eyes, I laughed in spite of myself. “I have not been abducted by any Deliverance people. I am here in Hayesville of my own volition.”

“Yes, it’s your volition that’s questionable. I mean, you said yourself they don’t even have a Starbucks. What could you possibly still be doing there?”

“Actually, I’m here writing.”

Eli sucked in a breath. “Holy shit. You are?”

When I’d called him the day before, I hadn’t told him anything about Rae or songwriting. Since everything had still been up in the air with her, I’d just told him I was just staying in Hayesville to get away. “Yeah, man. I’ve gotten two songs done already.”

“I’m so fucking proud of you.”

“Thanks. I’m not gonna lie, it sure feels good to be putting words on paper. They’re good words, too, and you know I wouldn’t just say that.”

“I sure do. You are your own worst critic. When were you planning on sharing them with me and Abs?”

“Are you still at Jake and Abby’s?”

“No. I came back to Atlanta the day you left.”

“As soon as I get back to the hotel, I’ll Google Hangout with you guys and play what I have.” At the familiar tingle running up my spine, I said, “Strike that. I think I’m feeling something new coming on.”

“Seriously?”

“Yeah. I’m not too surprised considering I was just with—” I abruptly cut myself off. For reasons I didn’t understand, I didn’t feel ready to tell Eli about Rae.

“You were just with who?”

“Nobody. Forget it.”

“Look, if you’ve fallen in love with some hillbilly woman named Earlene, it’s okay. You don’t have to be ashamed.”

I laughed. “Considering I’ve only been gone for forty-eight hours, I’m not quite sure how I could have fallen in love with a hillbilly.”

“You never know—they move fast.”

“How the hell would you know? Past experience?”

“Just an observation.”

“Whatever.” A knock came on the Jeep’s window, causing my phone to fly out of my hand and onto the passenger seat. When I glanced over, Rae was grinning at me. After I rolled down the window, I said, “Hey.”

“Hey. Listen, I was thinking instead of coming over here, you should just come to the shop to pick me and Linc up. Dad lives closer to the shop than here.”

“Okay. I’ll see you at the shop.”

She smiled. “Okay.” Jerking her chin, she added, “Now get the hell out of here so I can go to work.”

“I’m on it.”

After she waved and headed back to her car, I leaned over and picked up my phone. I knew there wasn’t a chance in hell that Eli had hung up. The minute he heard a female voice, he would be hanging on to every word he possibly could. “Hey. I’m back.”

“Was that Earlene?” he asked teasingly as I cranked the Jeep up.

“No, smartass. Her name is Rae.”

“Sounds like you guys are having dinner tonight.”

“We are, at her father’s house,” I replied as I backed out of Rae’s driveway.

“Mmhmm.”

I laughed. “Like that’s all you have to say. I mean, don’t hurt yourself holding back.”

“It’s just that you said it would be impossible to have fallen in love with a hillbilly girl in two days, yet here you are having dinner with a woman. Not only that, you’re having dinner with her family. Do we need Selma to prepare a press release on your impending nuptials?”

“Har fucking har.”

“Hey, you told me not to hold back. I mean, you’re already eating dinner with her parents—what am I supposed to think?”

“It’s not like that with Rae.”

“Then enlighten me.”

I sucked in a deep breath before unloading the soap opera of what had transpired.

“Holy shit,” Eli remarked when I finished.

“Yeah. Pretty much.”

“I can’t believe you found your muse in the backwoods.”

“It surprised the hell out of me as well, but I’m not going to question it.”

“I wouldn’t either.” After pausing for a moment, Eli asked, “So she’s beautiful, huh?”

“Gorgeous, but not like the fake women I usually go after. She’s real.”

“She’s real or her tits are real?”

Groaning, I replied, “Once again, it’s not like that with her.”

“It’s not like that because she won’t let it be like that,” Eli countered, amusement vibrating in his voice. It was times like these I lamented having a twin brother who knew exactly how my brain worked.

“Yeah, it’s true that she shot me down, but I’m glad she did.”

“Seriously?”

“If we had fucked, who knows what would have happened to my songwriting mojo? I might still be blocked.”

“That’s one way to look at it, and a very mature way, I might add.”

I snickered. “I’m not sure I would trust your judgment on what’s mature.”

Eli laughed. “Whatever. So you really think you have another song brewing?”

“Yep. I’m pulling into the hotel now. Just as soon as I can get to my pen and journal, I’m at it again. Once I get to a stopping point, I’ll text you about doing a Google Hangout with Abby.”

“Sounds good. I’ll call her and let her know what’s going on.”

“Thanks, man. I probably need to text Jake and tell him I’ll be commandeering his Jeep for a little while longer.”

“I don’t think he’ll mind, especially if you’re finally getting the words you need. When do you think you’ll be back?”

“I’m not leaving here until I have enough to fill the album—or until my mojo runs out.”

“I’ll be interested to see what you come up with, but more than the songs, I’m interested to see how things pan out with Rae.”

“You mean you’ll be interested to see if we finally bang.”

“Actually, I was thinking more long-term than that.” Really, Eli?

“Like a relationship?”

“Bingo.”

“Get real, bro.”

“You’re the one who needs to get real, not me.”

“It’s not happening.”

“We’ll see.”

Scowling at the phone, I replied, “If you don’t have anything else to do but give me shit about Rae, I’ll let you go. Unlike someone else I know, I have work to do.”

Eli chuckled. “Whatever, man. Call me when you’re done penning our next CMA winner.”

“I don’t know about that, but I’ll let you know when the next song is done.

“You do that—oh, and tell Rae hello for me.”

“I will.”

“And thanks for putting up with my knuckleheaded brother.”

I laughed. “Goodbye, Eli.”

“Bye, Gabe.”

Review – Most Eligible Bastard by Annika Martin

6 out of 5 stars

 6 stars
Where do I even start?  Talk about a book hangover. This book had me drawn in, hook, line, and sinker. It was like a moth to a flame or an addict to his drug. I just couldn’t stop reading. It had the perfect blend of angst, heat,  and humor mixed with tons of vulnerability.  By far,  my favorite book by this author.
Vicky is not what she seems. She is scarred from a past that has her hiding from the rich jerks who wronged her publicly worldwide!  She has a serious problem with anyone that has money and refuses to be pushed around. She has a backbone that I admired and absolutely loved how she used the dog to evoke humor into the story. She definitely showed her sassy side,  and I loved every minute of it. She didn’t ask to be the leading board member of a billion dollar corporation, but she refuses to be pushed around by rich people once again. She makes them sweat and damn if I don’t love that fire she shows.
Henry is absolutely appalled that his mother would leave the family company in the hands of a con artist dog whisperer. He threatens  her  with things that would make lesser people crumble, but he has no idea who Vicky really is and that he basically just threw down a gauntlet by threatening her. He and his cousin decide good cop bad cop will be the way to take her down. The plan backfires right in his face though when he finds our the real story. And damn if he doesn’t fit the title of this book perfectly!
I’m gonna kill to say this is one of my favorite reads this year. It just had an alluring quality that the author absolutely perfected!

 Title: Most Eligible Bastard

Author: Annika Martin

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Most Eligible Bastard, an all-new standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Annika Martin is LIVE!

He’s a powerful billionaire CEO who built the family business into an empire. The money doesn’t matter to him, but the company is his life. And then his eccentric mother wills it all to her tiny dog.

********

I’m Vicky, the dog whisperer. (Not really, but that’s what my elderly neighbor always says.) When she dies, she surprises everybody by leaving a corporation worth billions to her dog, Smuckers. With me as his spokesperson.

Suddenly I go from running my Etsy store to sitting in an elegant Wall Street boardroom with Smuckers in my lap. And my neighbor’s son, Henry Locke, aka New York’s most eligible bachelor, glaring across the table at me.

Rumor has it Henry’s a business genius who’s as talented in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom. Sure, he’s gorgeous. Sex-in-a-seven-thousand dollar suit. But…

He’s arrogant and infuriating.

He refuses to listen to me when I insist I didn’t con his mother.

He thinks he can bully me, buy me off, control me, even seduce me.

Henry may have the women of Manhattan eating out of the palm of his hand, but I’m so over entitled rich guys who think they own the world.

No way will his wicked smile be charming ME out of my panties.

His wicked…devastating…impossible-to-resist smile.

Oh well, who needs panties anyway?

She glares at me now. “I can’t believe you tried to strip poor Smuckers of his vote. Do you have no decency?”

“When it comes to protecting this company?” I say. “No.”

Her gaze intensifies. “Just no?”

“None at all,” I say. “No decency whatsoever. Nada, if you will.”

Her pretty lips part. It’s shock. Maybe a little bit awe.

I give her an amused smile, adjusting my jacket sleeve over my cuff just so. The suit was tailored by a man who charges three hundred bucks an hour and is worth every penny.

“Uh,” she says. “You think you’re all that? You’re not.”

“Oh, I am all that,” I say. “I very much am. And for the record, I will crush you in the end.”

“Smuckers had this medication once,” she says. “We tried to hide it in his food, and he spit it out. No matter what we did, he’d spit it out.” She puts one finger on the paper with the new amendment and slides it back across the desk. “Smuckers doesn’t like when people try to fool him. That’s his message for you.”

“I have a message for Smuckers.” I put my finger on it and slide it back across to her. “Smuckers needs to know that we have a private investigator on this case. Smuckers might not have very nice food to eat if you ended up in prison.”

Finally she looks scared.

Brett swoops in. “I say we settle this. One-time offer from me personally.” He writes the number—$4,500,000.00. “This offer expires in two minutes.”

My heart pounds. She needs to take offer. We’ve shown how close she can come to losing everything.

She looks at the paper.

She’s all alone caring for that sister of hers. She’s poor—we have her banking information; we know it for a fact. She has every reason in the world to take it. Yet she hesitates.

“This is our last offer,” Brett says. “After this, we’ll take the company from you, and you’ll get nothing.”

She raises her brown eyes to me. It’s me she’s really dealing with. I like that she knows that.

“You know what Smuckers hates even more than being fooled?” she says.

My heart pounds. She almost lost everything to me, and now she’s going to tell me a dog story?

“He hates being threatened,” she says. “And bullied. He really, really hates it.”

“Well he’s going to have to get used to it,” I hear myself saying. “He’s used to bubbles and bows and sunny parks but he’s in the jungle now. There are animals who are faster and stronger and smarter than he is. Animals who will dominate him easily—savagely, even.”

“Then you don’t know Smuckers very well.”

“Oh, I know all about Smuckers, and I’d suggest he practice rolling over. Baring his belly for the superior predator.” I lower my voice. “Begging sweetly for mercy.”

The color heightens in her face. This shouldn’t be fun.

But oh, it is.

I keep going. “Smuckers may think he can request packets and bylaws and get up to speed, but he can’t compete here. He doesn’t have the skills.”

“Smuckers thinks owning fifty-one percent is the best skill to have,” she says.

Review – Hooking Up by Helena Hunting

Hooking Up by Helena Hunting

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I first met Amie and Lex in Shacking Up and again in Eye Candy (Hello, Gladiator Lex), I knew their story was one I NEEDED like air to breathe. The initial flirting, playful banter, and sexual tension was an instant HIGH. After a small hit, I had to have MORE. I also had to know if justice would be served to the A-man with the small pencil down below. Spoiler alert: The sweet justice dished out to the anti-hero A, was the icing on the cake.

Like little brother, Bane, Lexington ‘Lex’ is ALL ALPHA. A god. He so smokin’ hot and with a big heart!!! This melt-worthy man OWNS ME for life. Just YES!!! Lex is HERO PERFECTION, a lethal mix of hotness and heart that will have you wishing for a hook up with him.

”It’s okay, baby, I get it. know I’m irresistible.”

Amie is back and not the controlled and refined woman she was before. She is a full-on firecracker ready to take back her life! I ADORED her!!! Amie is a sassy and smart beauty, a heroine you’d want as your bestie.

Still nursing wounds from a wreck of a relationship, Amie is out to rediscover herself, recover the old Amie who valued herself most and lived, laughed, and had fun.

One night and it could have been Lex. It always should have been Lex. It should have been the man made for Amie.

I missed my chance before but maybe now I can be part of what helps put her back together.

Collision after collision has Lex and Amie together again. It’s as if a force is pulling them, a strong tide. A force of fate.

”I can only behave myself for so long.”

Maybe I don’t want you to behave.”

23270308_1504159183014478_8575864469408181648_o

This hero and heroine EXPLODE TOGETHER!!! Their chemistry is COMBUSTIBLE. Their passion is PALPABLE. Their union is UNSTOPPABLE!!! I felt their chemistry steam off the pages, a blaze of fire that burnt me everywhere!!!

I crush my mouth to Amelie’s…It’s not a very coordinated kiss. It’s messy and teeth-clashing. It’s want and need. It’s possession. Hers and mine.

Together, Lex and Amie were so MAGICAL!!!This hero and heroine are fused by FATE, making their story even more special. These two were created for each other. I loved them both so much!

”Tell me you don’t feel this pull.”

Hooking Up is heart-stopping sexy meets saucy and sweet—a romance you’ll want to hook up with NOW!! This story is a sensual SLOW BURN that blazed though me everywhere! I was ENRAPTURED!!! Hooking Up HIJACKED ME from the start, quickly becoming a HIGH, one I felt the whole time reading. I LOVED this romance fused by fate, bathed in blazing heat, and felt with love. I felt the POWERFUL PULL of Hooking Up so hard, a story I couldn’t put down. Hooking Up is ALL THAT and MORE!!!

💋💋💋💋💋 hot and heartfelt ‘Sexy Lexy’ kisses

synopsis.jpg

Amalie Whitfield is the picture of a blushing bride during her wedding reception–but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of proclaiming his undying love, her husband can be heard, by Amalie and their guests, getting off with someone else. She has every reason to freak out, and in a moment of insanity, she throws herself at the first hot-blooded male she sees. But he’s not interested in becoming her revenge screw.

Mortified and desperate to escape the post-wedding drama, Amalie decides to go on her honeymoon alone, only to find the man who rejected her also heading to the same tiny island for work. But this time he isn’t holding back. She should know better than to sleep with someone she knows, but she can’t seem to resist him.

They might agree that what happens on the island should stay on the island, but neither one can deny that their attraction is more than just physical.

Filled with hilariously scandalous situations and enough sexual chemistry to power an airplane from New York City to the South Pacific, Hooking Up is the next standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from Helena Hunting, the New York Times bestselling author of the Pucked series and Shacking Up.

Review – Scandalous by LJ Shen

Scandalous by LJ Shen

Forget the top read of the year.
Forget the top read of the month.

Scandalous by LJ Shen is the TOP READ of my LIFE.

I have never read a book like this before. I have never been so addicted to a book before, while it engraved itself in my BLOOD. Scandalous swam through me, pulsed through the deepest parts of me and sent me to a WHOLE other world.

THIS is how a book should be written.

THIS is how a book should be delivered.

THIS is how a book should make you feel.

THIS is how it’s fucking DONE!

The Sinners of Saint series is without doubt one of the best series out there. LJ has a way with words that just attack the mind, body and soul. She’s also the BEST at writing really hot, alpha males that we shouldn’t really like very much, aka Hotholes. In Scandalous though, for me, she wrote one of her most formidable HotHoles yet, with her BEST writing to date.

I felt WAYYYY too much reading this book, so much so, that it’s impossible to put WHAT I actually felt into proper words that make sense, but I’m gonna try. It made me CRAZY. ADDICTED. OBSESSED. As words coursed through my veins, emotion clogged my throat, and angst, angst ripped apart my heart and demolished my soul. Cover to cover my whole body was TINGLING. My stomach was TIGHT and yet, somehow, FLUTTERING, uncontrollably. My heart, SCREAMING, ACHING, POUNDING. OWNED.

Scandalous, is raw, gritty, fierce and chock full of filthy, forbidden lust, hottttt, intense passion and need. #thatfirstkisstho! Trent and Edie are ugly and raw and filthy, yet somehow utterly irresistible. (Yes I borrowed a line, it makes so much sense). Their connection is OFF THE CHAIN. They are an explosion, their push and pull, dangerous but all consuming! I fell for them both, together and as individuals. They rocked my world.

There isn’t really anything more I can say at this point bar, read it! If you’re looking for a book that will hook you, grip your heart and soul, steal your breath, while it sets you on fire, then this is your book. If you’re looking for a book written stunningly with seamless perfection, and so much creativeness, this is your book. If you’re looking to be owned and all together consumed by the best book EVER, then this, THIS RIGHT HERE, is your book! There will never be enough stars to ever do this book justice. They simply don’t accommodate for books as breathtaking and as brilliant as this. It’s most definitely, one of a kind!

They call him The Mute for a reason.

Hard, cold and calculated, he rarely speaks.

When he does, it’s with disdain.

When he does, his words aren’t meant for me.

When he does, my stomach flips and my world tilts on its axis.

He is thirty-three.

I am eighteen.

He’s a single dad and my father’s business partner.

I’m just a kid to him and his enemy’s daughter.

He’s emotionally unavailable.

And I am…feeling. Feeling things I shouldn’t feel for him.

Trent Rexroth is going to break my heart. The writing isn’t just on the wall, it’s inked on my soul.

And yet, I can’t stay away.

A scandal is the last thing my family needs. But a scandal is what we’re going to give them.

And oh, what beautiful chaos it will be.

Review  – No Filter by Nora Phoenix

6 out of 5 stars

To say  that I loved this book is an understatement. You do have to be open-minded while reading because of relationship dynamics that are unconventional, but there is absolutely no cheating involved. Plain and simple this is a love story filled with heartache, past pain and regrets, and 3 strong but broken men. Their story just completely sucked me in and left me hanging on every word. I turned pages so fast that I thought I’d break the kindle.
I had no idea this was a debut novel for this author. She definitely showed her strength in writing this absolutely beautiful book. I will be counting down the clock for book 2.

 No Filter

No Shame Series Book 1

Nora Phoenix

M/M Romance

October 26, 2017

Cover Design: Sloan Johnson/Sloan J Design

BLURB

Indy will do anything to prevent his mobster ex from finding him. Their last encounter left Indy recovering for months in the hospital, and ever since he’s become an expert at hiding in plain sight. Determined to stay under the radar, he takes on a new identity and moves from place to place. His life has no room for friendships, let alone love, so he keeps his heart firmly closed. After all, he has nothing to offer but a damaged body and a broken soul. Plus, he’s so done with men. Until he meets the man who breaks through all his defenses.

Former Army Medic Noah came back damaged from his last tour—in more than one way. Between supporting his best friend who’s struggling with PTSD, dealing with his own issues, and the stress of his job as a physician assistant, rebuilding his life seems impossible. There’s little time for what Noah needs, let alone for what he wants. When he meets Indy, Noah discovers what he wants more than anything: for Indy to stay.

Indy never expected the strong, confident Noah to be as damaged and broken as himself. But what will happen if he starts letting Noah in? Indy knows he should run to protect himself and Noah.

Noah needs Indy to stay more than anything. But will what little he has to offer be enough to make Indy trust him and stay?

No Filter is a steamy M/M romance that ends with a HFN, but with the promise of a HEA. It’s the first book in the No Shame Series, and is not a stand-alone novel. It contains hot sex, a hint of a ménage, lots of talk about hot sex, flashbacks of said hot sex, and…Oh well, you get the idea. Also: trigger warning for mentions of sexual abuse.

Dressed in a T-shirt and flannel PJ bottoms, Indy made his way downstairs. Autumn had started, setting the trees in the yard on fire in an explosion of red, orange, and yellow, and bringing cold nights, but downstairs it was comfortably warm. Noah was reading the paper in his usual spot, but Josh was nowhere to be seen.

“Morning,” Indy said, always a bit shy at first when it was only him and Noah.

“Hey. How are you feeling?” Noah never failed to ask Indy this, and it wasn’t a polite question.

“Good. Haven’t my felt my ribs in two days, so I’m officially pain free.”

Indy grabbed a bowl from the cabinet.

“Perfect. We’ll cut off your cast today. I didn’t think you’d want to do an official hospital visit for that, right?”

Indy shook his head, carefully cutting a banana on a cutting board with one hand and putting it in the bowl. He took yogurt from the fridge. “Not if I can avoid it.”

“Well, you’re lucky you have a highly skilled medical professional at your disposal, who’s willing to do a house visit.”

Indy grinned as he sprinkled crunchy granola on top of his yogurt. “Don’t know about the highly skilled part, but at least he’s free.”

“That hurt.” A smile tugged at the corners of Noah’s mouth. “My price just went up.”

“Double times nothing is still nothing, you do realize that?” Indy took a bite of his breakfast. He loved these verbal matches with Noah almost as much as not having to worry about what to eat for breakfast every day.

“Who says it was free to begin with? I only offered my skilled services, never said they were free.”

“So what’s your price?” Indy asked, expecting Noah to launch another joke.

“I want you for the entire day,” Noah said.

Indy frowned, quickly chewing to empty his mouth. “What do you mean?”

Noah reached out and circled Indy’s good wrist with his right hand, gently pulled until Indy was standing between his legs. “It’s my day off, and Josh has some special therapy session, so he’s gone all day. I want to spend the entire day with you, and you have to do exactly what I tell you.”

When she was a little tot, Nora’s mom got a library subscription for her. That, as they say, was that, and a lifelong love for books was born. Nora never stopped reading and doesn’t exaggerate when she says she devours books, rather than plain reads them. She started writing stories as soon as she could hold a pen, and wrote her first full book as a teen (on a typewriter!). It took her waaaay too long to follow her dream to become a romance author.

Nora writes M/M romance, because hello, sexy boys, and likes her men flawed, strong, and a tad broken. She appreciates a little kink, but insists on a happy ever after.

Review – The Other Brother by Meghan Quinn

The Other Brother by Meghan Quinn

My rating: 6 of 5 stars

”The harder you love, the harder you fall.”

Sometimes you don’t have to read but a few lines or pages of a story to fall hard in love. When you end the first and last chapters of a tale in tears, tears that remain etched in your eyes the whole time reading, you know you’ve met your emotional match. Meghan Quinn’s The Other Brother was MY EMOTIONAL MATCH. Edge to edge. Feel to feel.

I have a WEAKNESS for second-chance love stories and I didn’t have to read but a few minutes for The Other Brother to OWN ME!!! Heart. Soul. Mind. All taken by this thief of a story. The Other Brother, this second-chance romance full of fire and feels, was my soulmate. My kryptonite. So perfect. SO PERFECT FOR ME.

From the minute I was reunited with Aaron, AKA ‘Smalls,’ in The Other Brother, he HAD ME…ALL OF ME. This gorgeous man, so beautiful and broken, broke me while holding my heart in his hands. Aaron is the perfect man—gorgeous, witty, sweet, brooding, broken, sexy, strong, and so caring. What I love the most about this hero is his vulnerability. I fell so HARD for this amazing alpha whose heart is as beautiful as the man himself.

Sometimes couples need to grow separately before they come back together.

She was my rock, the one solid feature in my life. She was also my downfall.

Amelia is beautiful, sassy, and smart. When she returns to her hometown, she never expected to collide with her first love, Aaron. Aaron broke her heart once and she finally put the pieces together.

”I’ve chosen to forget about it . . . forget about you.”

These words CRUSHED ME, bursting hope like a popped balloon, as I hoped these soulmates would reconnect.

Can she feel how fast my heart is beating? Can she tell how much she still owns me?

I SHATTERED, breaking from these heartbreaking words. Words that pierced my heart. Words that shot straight to my soul. Words that meant so much. Aaron TOOK MY TEARS and STOLE MY HEART!!! I felt his heartbreak, emphasized with his struggles, and knew this man was everything!!!

I never got over him. I don’t think I ever will.

Sometimes love wasn’t sure to sustain the first time. Sometimes love needs a second chance as it wasn’t ready the first time.

”I feel this pull between us. It’s real.”

I felt this pull too, this hero and heroines’ IMPENETRABLE CONNECTION, so caring and combustible. The passion penetrates between Amelia and Aaron, as their love is still raw and real. A love that never died.

”You’re so confident,” I state, trying to calm my racing heart.

“I am. For once in my life, I’m sure of one thing. You’re mine.”

Oh Aaron! This is a hero who life constantly knocks down but keeps persevering, never giving up and I greatly admired his perseverance. Aaron has a beautiful soul, one as stunning as he is inside and out. If only Aaron would see his value, the light through the dark, the light that is Amelia, his shining star who has guided him for a lifetime.

”I’m not very good at seeing my worth.”

“I see the worth in you.”

I LOVED Amelia and Aaron together, and LOVED their story soooo hard! This couple felt REAL and their story is RELATABLE, as if their story could really happen, and that makes The Other Brother even more special. This tale of first love, the kind from soulmates, the one you root for to last forever, had me rooting for this couple to last a lifetime.

Megan Quinn has, hands-down, written her BEST BOOK YET: The Other Brother !!! This is one of my FAVORITE SECOND-CHANCE ROMANCES EVER!!! The Other Brother’s writing is PHENOMENAL: a magnetic mix of swoon and sorrow infused with hits of humor in a second-chance story woven in love. HEARTFELT MAGIC!!! I’m sorry Racer and Tucker, but Smalls delivered the biggest!!! With a broken hero with a beautiful soul and the strong and stunning woman who heals him, this story is a storm that strikes the soul!!! The hero and heroine were carved for each other like this soul-slaying second-chance romance was for me.

The Other Brother, this love story with all the heart that stole my heart, is EVERYTHING!!! This tale of broken love TOUCHED ME SO HARD!!! Words…mere WORDS…rendered me so full of FEELS where I still felt and am feeling everything long after the story has stopped. There are not enough words and not enough stars to capture my love for this emotionally-woven, second-chance romance…MY KRYPTONITE. The Other Brother is HEART-POUNDING PERFECTION!!!

A TOP 2017 read!!!

I got the call. The dreaded call every child fears. My dad wasn’t well, and the man who had always been my everything needed me.

There was only one thing to do; pack up and head back to my hometown. I had finally made my dream life in the city with the great job and loving boyfriend. But was there really a choice not to go?

I found a wonderful job, a quaint house to rent, my boyfriend was working on joining me in Binghamton, and my favorite pizza place was only miles away. Life was good.

Until I met my neighbor.

It’s been three years since I’d seen Aaron Walters, and my God is he all kinds of sexy gorgeous. Figures. He was supposed to be my forever, the man I grew old with, but he had different plans. How can a man who ripped my heart apart still trip me up? How can he make me still want him now more than ever?

I’m tempted, I’m drawn toward him, I’m completely and utterly unaware that I’m dating his biological brother.

Now two men own my heart. The question is, which brother will I choose?

FB_IMG_1494244623114

Right on time, I’m impressed.

She doesn’t get out of her car right away, so I give her a second but then realize maybe she’s not exiting the vehicle because I have the key to the house and she has nowhere to go.

Wanting to make a good impression and seem approachable since I’m the property manager, I run my hand through my hair and adjust my jeans. I’m not wearing any fancy shit, but at least I don’t have holes in or paint stains on my clothes. I hop off my front porch and make my way toward her car, slowly, not wanting to scare her.

There is muffling coming from her car, voices I can’t quite hear, but I get the idea she’s finishing up a conversation, so I slow my pace drastically. That’s when I see her tilt her head down and look at me. From the reflection of the light off her windows, I can’t make out her features. I can only see a silhouette.

I lift a friendly hand in her direction to let her know I come in peace and make my way to her driveway. There is no wave back, but I do hear the telltale sound of her opening her car door. She steps out and when I round the vehicle, I catch the sun off her driver’s side window, temporarily blinding me.

Blinking my eyes a few times to calm my retinas, I bring her into focus.

“Aaron . . .”

Every hair on my body sticks straight up and my body goes still from that voice, that unmistakably sultry voice.

When she finally comes into view, I am met with a pair of hazel eyes I haven’t been able to get out of my head since the day she left town for bigger and better things.

“Amelia.” I clear my throat and take a step forward. “Wow, I uh . . .” Tongue-tied, that’s exactly what I am right now. “Didn’t expect to see you get out of that car.” I laugh nervously while I pull on the back of my neck, trying to comprehend what’s going on. I point with my thumb toward the house and ask, “You’re the new tenant?”

She nods and looks me over, taking her time with her perusal, her eyes burning a hole right through my clothes like they used to. When her eyes meet mine again, she asks, “You’re the property manager?”

I nod and swallow hard. “And neighbor.”

She presses her lips together, thinning them out. “What are the chances?” She laughs nervously.

“Yeah, especially since I thought your life was in the city.” I didn’t mean for that to come out rude, but it did. Gentling my voice, I ask, “What brings you back home?”

Staring at the ground, clutching her purse to her side, she says, “My dad. He’s, uh, not doing well.” Duh, Mrs. Ferguson mentioned something like that. I’m so damn overwhelmed and shocked right now though, that entire conversation I had with Mrs. Ferguson is not registering in my mind.

“Oh no.” My brow pinches together in concern. “What happened?”

She waves me off. “Nothing you need to worry about.” And just like that she shuts me down. Honestly, I’m surprised she said that much to me after how we ended things between us.

Yes, there was an us, a perfectly beautiful, love-filled us. Amelia Santos was the best thing to ever happen to me, and yet, she was also the worst. During a time where my heart broke from every uncaring glance from my mom, Amelia resurrected me from the ashes I would have otherwise drowned in. She was my rock, the one solid feature in my life.

She was also my downfall.

She was going places, and I wasn’t. She had opportunity, and I had none. She wanted me to move with her, and I couldn’t, but no way in hell would I hold her back. I barely made it out of my mom’s house. There were many days when I tried hard to earn a buck so I could find a place to live other than the homeless shelter where I spent many lonely nights. Amelia deserved better than that, so I pushed her away to achieve her dreams. Little did I know, breaking up with her would send me in the biggest downward spiral of my life. The only reason I’m the man I am today is because after hitting rock bottom, I knew things needed to change, and it was up to me to make something of myself. So I worked my ass off. And now at thirty, I can say proudly that I’m a co-owner of an up-and-coming construction company as well as the proud owner of a house in the heart of Hillcrest, a beautiful two-story house. I’m doing well for myself . . . at least that’s what I thought until Amelia stepped out of her car.

Now I’m questioning every little thing about my life leading to this point.

Cora feels like she is all alone even though she is surrounded by a whole biker club and her best friend, but since her best friend found love with the president,  she feels even more like she has no place in this life. Her whole life revolves around taking care of Slider ‘s kids and trying to save money to be a veterinarian  one day.
As things start to go downhill at home,  things drastically change between Slider and Cora as he watches how she cares for his boys and how much they love  her. He finally starts letting down his walls. But of course trouble isnt far,  and they have to get through the war to find their happily ever after!

About Ride Wild (Raven Riders #3)

Brotherhood. Club. Family.
They live and ride by their own rules.
These are the Raven Riders…

Wild with grief over the death of his wife, Sam “Slider” Evans merely lives for his two sons. Nothing holds his interest anymore—not even riding his bike or his membership in the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club. But that all changes when he hires a new babysitter.

Recently freed from a bad situation by the Ravens, Cora Campbell is determined to bury the past. When Slider offers her a nanny position, she accepts, needing the security and time to figure out what she wants from life. Cora adores his sweet boys, but never expected the red-hot attraction to their brooding, sexy father. If only he would notice her…

Slider does see the beautiful, fun-loving woman he invited into his home. She makes him feel too much, and he both hates it and yearns for it. But when Cora witnesses something she shouldn’t have, the new lives they’ve only just discovered are threatened. Now Slider must claim—and protect—what’s his before it’s too late.

Cora had such an easy way with Ben. With both of his kids, really. God, Slider admired that about her. Especially when nothing about him was easy, and hadn’t been in years.

Ben yawned and peered up at Slider. “You’re gonna stay with me, aren’t you? “

“You better believe it, Benji. And remember what we talked about. Nurses are going to come in a couple of times throughout the night. Just to check on you. I’ll be here the whole time,” Slider said, leaning over the boy so he could look him in the eyes. There was nothing like the unconditional love and admiration of a kid. But that didn’t mean Slider shouldn’t have to earn it. And he hadn’t done nearly enough these past few years, had he? He pressed a kiss to his son’s cheek. “Now shut those peepers.”

Ben giggled. “Your whiskers tickle Dad.” Slider ran his hand over the facial hair on his jaw. One more piece of evidence of the mess he’d become. But at least it made Ben laugh. The boy looked up at Cora next, his hand snaking into hers and tugging her closer. “You’re staying too, right?”

“Wild horses couldn’t tear me away,” she said, squeezing his hand.

Ben made a face. “There are wild horses here?”

Cora chuckled and Slider shook his head. “Peepers. Closed. Now,” he said.

The boy was asleep in an instant.

After not sleeping much today himself, Slider probably wasn’t far behind him. Still, he nodded at the small sleeper sofa and quietly said to Cora, “You can take that. Nurse said there are pillows and blankets in the closet.”

She shook her head. “No way. You haven’t slept. And I’m kinda attached here,” she said, glancing at where Ben still clutched her hand. “Seriously, Slider. Get some sleep while you can.”

Frowning, he pulled out the sleeper, which was only a little wider than a twin-sided bed, found the bedding, and lowered the lights. “How ‘bout this. We’ll take shifts.”

She smiled. “Sure.”

On a bone-deep sigh, Slider sat on the bed’s edge and kicked off his boots, and then he went horizontal still wearing his jeans and T-shirt. Cora laid her cheek against her arm, her face turned away from Slider toward Ben, her blond waves a soft cascade against the white hospital blankets.

And damnit all to hell, but it played with uncomfortable things inside his chest to see her like that. Things he didn’t want played with. Not ever again.

So he closed his eyes. And woke up two and a half hours later when the nurse came into the room to check Ben’s vitals. The kid hardly stirred, but Cora was still awake and making small talk with the woman about how her night was going.

“Your turn to get some sleep,” Slider said when they were alone again.

“Don’t worry about it. Go back to sleep.”

“We had a deal,” he said, his voice like gravel. Years of exhaustion did that to a man.

“Later,” she said, her expression soft with sleepiness. He forced himself into a sitting position, his stiff movements making him feel ancient. “You need it more than I do.”

He shook his head and pushed to his feet. “I’m not hogging the bed all night while you sit up in that hard chair.”

“Don’t be stubborn,” she said. “Sleep.”

He arched a brow. As much as he wanted to lie back down, he wasn’t doing it at her expense. “It’s your turn.”

“Slider—”

“Cora—”

She sighed. “I’m trying to take care of you, too.”

Review – American King by Sierra Simone

American King AMAZON

Review graphic

There are no words that will ever fully satisfy me to use to describe this book. No, this entire series.

Nothing can describe the pain of loss and separation, the angst and misery of acceptance for circumstances beyond the King’s control, the elation of three people who are simply destined to be together and love each other beyond the conventions of society and its ideals of what love is and how marriage should look.

Nothing prepared me for the overwhelming push of emotion, the tears that came from some of the most beautiful words I have ever been privileged to read. Are there words to convey the sensuality and sexual pull between two of the strongest men and the drive they have between them to push each other to have more, to be more and to accept nothing less than everything? Mind, heart, body and soul. All or nothing. How do I describe Greer Galloway in this final book of the series – her supreme grace under tremendous pressure, her love for her King and her Prince, her fireball of naughtiness. And a back bone. She was regal, every bit the queen that Ash and Embry called her.

I loved these three incredible people so much. Just so very much.

The respect that I felt for President Maxen Ashley Colchester because he was true to himself, his feelings, and his convictions. He didn’t care about societal norms and the fact that he loved two people. He loved his country. He simply wanted peace for his people and in his own home. Ash was power, prowess and dominance. He elevated the room with his presence and he brought a queen and a prince to their knees with his love. The decisions that he had to face are not ones that should be wished upon anyone, but he commanded with brilliance, working behind the scenes to do what was best, not looking for any praise or a pat on the head. This role was Ash’s destiny.

I could say so much more about this series. I could talk volumes about the connection to Arthurian legend, the amazing secondary cast that is vital to this trilogy, or the politics of the story and how those politics mirror what is going on in our world even as I write this. I will simply say this. This series – and definitely American King – is not just the retelling of a legendary tale with a modern twist. It isn’t just a story full of some of the very best sex scenes ever written. It isn’t just some regular love story. This was an experience, one that must be fully embraced, devoured and held close to your heart. It was thought provoking, heartbreaking, absolutely astonishing. It was sinful, decadent and breathtaking. The New Camelot series is without fail the very best series that I have had the joy to read.

Bravo, Sierra.

They say that every tragic hero has a fatal flaw, a secret sin, a tiny stitch sewn into his future since birth.  And here I am.  My sins are no longer secret. My flaws have never been more fatal.  And I’ve never been closer to tragedy than I am now.

I am a man who loves, a man whose love demands much in return.  I am a king, a king who was foolish enough to build a kingdom on the bones of the past. I am a husband and a lover and a soldier and a father and a president.

And I will survive this.

Long live the king.

Review – Personal Escort by Ainsley Booth

Personal Escort cover

Review graphic

Oh, Cara and Toby! Your best friends to lovers romance is just as wonderful the second and third time around…

When I first read Personal Escort in Love In Transit, I fell for these two immediately. It was easy to love the determined scientist and the man who was her brother’s best friend. From the beginning, there was a spark and a changing relationship built on affection and the strongest friendship. Toby has always felt a warmth and fondness for Cara. He wanted to protect her, give her her wings and support her in anyway that that he could. He never expected his best friend’s little sister to grow up and well, GROW up.

Cara knows the moment that her life changes and it’s not when the meddling Nana Rosso demands that she find a husband and take her place in the family business. It’s the first press of her lips to Toby’s lips. The deepening of the kiss and the hold it takes on her heart, mind and body. A kiss leads to more intimate chats, a friendship that grows and becomes the best part of her life. Love creeps up on these two and neither of them see it coming.

This was GLORIOUS! Cara and Toby’s relationship was so easy… effortless in its evolution. The years between them was no matter. The distance between them – Cara in Toronto, Toby in California – only made their attraction burn hotter. Toby is a true romantic at heart while Cara simply wants to pursue her career in peace. Still it wouldn’t hurt to have this man at her side. The romance between them is swoony, sensuous and just plain perfection. There is no one quite like Tobias Alexander Hunt. A sexy co-conspirator with a wonderful sense of humor, protective and a best friend unlike any other. Don’t forget alpha. When Toby says surrender, you do.

Personal Escort was delightful read! It only got better every time that I read it. I only fell harder for this amazing billionaire whose best friend’s little sister slowly became his entire world. Toby’s willingness to do all that he could to make Cara happy even going along with her crazy schemes made me laugh and sigh. Cara’s fight with her own insecurity and meddling from her family made me understand her need for independence. The slow satisfying burn between them was fantastic! I just loved this!

FANTASTIC, Ainsley!  Five Toby is Everything Stars!

Review – Falling Fast by Aurora Rose Reynolds

falling fast cover

Review graphic

This was another amazing story from Aurora Rose Reynolds!

When we first met Gia Caro and Colton Allyster back in Until June, it was easy to see that these two had a something so worth reading more about. Colton was clearly in command and had no problem letting Gia know that she was his and would not stop until she could admit with her mouth what was in her heart. Watching them develop their own BOOM in Falling Fast was a fun, emotional roller coaster ride full of sass, steam and one seriously sexy alpha.

These two have had their fair share of loss, anger and hurt. They shared more in common than they knew when they began their relationship. Gia had been lied to, abandoned and left with a stepmother who tolerated her existence after her father passed away. The one person that could have eased the grief of her father’s death was the grandmother who was her bridge to her mother. Lies kept them apart. Colton was left with a broken heart and an empty soul after being abandoned in his darkest hour by a woman he thought he would share his life – in sickness and in health. He fought and almost died for his country only to lose everything that mattered during his recovery.

Something so very important these two shared was a love for family and all the messy bonds and sacrifices that come with it. It was nothing for Gia to drop everything and return to the small town in Tennessee to be with her ailing and slowly deteriorating grandmother. It was nothing to be the one to care for her and to try to fit ten years of separation into what little time was left. It was that family bond that meant Colton would take his place in the family business, care for his mother and listen intently to the good advice given to him from his father. As surely as it was not expected, love would change everything for Gia and Colton after one chance meeting.

The attraction between these two burned so bright, intense and needy. But what a great ride it was! Colton was so alpha and commanding like those Mayson men that we are all fond of. Gia was determined to not fall under Colton’s dominating allure, only to fall harder than she ever imagined. This story was a feel good, laugh out loud, swoon and sigh read that I loved from the first page to the last. Colton and Gia made me love them wholeheartedly and cheer for two lost and broken people who fought and found all that they needed in each other, learning to leave the past in the past and working for something beautiful and worthwhile together.

This was amazing! Just amazing and I cannot wait to see where this series will go next!

FANTASTIC, ARR!

Falling Fast teaser

Colton Allyster is relieved to be back home. After a year of rehabilitation, losing his career as a Marine along with his fiancé, he’s had to learn quickly what’s really important. Colton grew up wanting to serve his country. Managing his parents’ biker bar was never part of his plan, but after meeting Gia Caro, he’s beginning to think that’s exactly where he’s meant to be.

Ever since Gia Caro arrived in the small, sleepy town of Ruby Falls, Tennessee, her life has spiraled out of control. Between losing her grandmother a little more each day to dementia, and her hot boss’s constant attention, her once quiet existence isn’t so quiet anymore.

After weeks of sidestepping Colton, things get out of hand, and before Gia knows what’s happening, she’s spending her nights in his bed and her mornings in his kitchen. And as he cleans out drawers and makes room in his closet, she starts to wonder if she’s falling too fast.
