Review – The Dom Games by Rachel Robinson

image

image

Reading The Dom Games is like watching a reality TV show. Its addicting, has you wanting to cover your eyes while peeping through a gap in your fingers. Its heart poundingly good, so much so it steals your breath and leaves you in a dizzy state. And it’s SO GOOD! Despite the twists and turns, the stabs to the gut and the heart breaking reality, you keep on. Watching right until the end, to see the finale. And then get really subdued when it’s all over.
That’s me now, subdued, because it’s all over. I didn’t want it to end.

The Dom Games had piqued my interest for a while now, seeing Rachel’s book info and trailer had me thinking so many things before sitting down to read. Some may think this is just another BDSM book and not give it a chance. But do, because this book has such a fresh twist on BDSM, it’s something I’ve not read before and it totally hooked me.

The Dom Games, features Dominic Reed. Alpha, Dom, billionaire with a godlike body and mouth of sin with his own production company, who produces the TV show The Dom Games where 10 subs go against one another for a cash prize and a contract with the Dom. Enter Kayla, purely in it for the money, sarky mouthed, uncontrollable and totally unaware of what she’s signed up for. Not something a Dom wants. But you see that’s the beauty of this book. Because that’s all our Dominic does want.

And so begins our trip into reality. Dom and Kayla’s relationship builds intensely. As a reader I fell in love with them. Kayla’s Sassy mouth left Dom weak, and Dom’s dirty mouth left Kayla panting. It was a match made in bookworm heaven. But the blasted TV show still had to go on. Thus adding the heart pounding moments and the intense, breath taking moments that were just SO FREAKING GOOD. The moments that kept me hooked. The moments that cracked my heart but wouldn’t allow me to step away. The moments that make a spectacular book even better.

Because that’s what this book is, spectacular. Its exciting, electric. The heat between Dominic and Kayla is so strong it sizzles through you while reading. The sex scenes are so dirty, that I found myself BLUSHING, while fanning myself, A LOT! But it’s also cram packed full of feels..from rip roaring humour courtesy of Kayla’s sassy attitude, to heartbreaking ugly cry moments from Kayla’s inner monologue during the TV show scenes.

As a reader, I went though so many emotions in this book.. I didn’t know whether to love Dom or hate him. Slap him or climb him. Scream at him or cry. Infact now, I know I’d do all those things, but OMG my love for this man is off the charts. Literally. Off them. His journey through this book was so powerful, written so pristinely that despite all the bad, there is so much good and understanding of the man behind the Dom. And that is what makes him amazing. And what makes him and Kayla a match made in reality TV show heaven.

And now, like I said, I want more from these two. I honestly love them…and I know you will too.

Dual Review Finding Me & Always You by Stephanie Rose

Finding MeFinding Me Cover

Review Graphic

Sweet, sexy, and endearing….this book was exactly what I hoped for and more! Stephanie Rose has done it again! She blew me away with Bella and Owen’s story. At first I was like “Oh no!” Do I want to see the sweet little Bella all grown up? Can my eyes handle knowing what “grown up” Bella will be doing? Cause in my eyes, she was still that sweet, just coming out of her shell, beautiful little 5 year old. The answer? YES! Yes I did want it! I loved this story, and completely fell in love with Bella, Lucas and Sam’s characters all over again. I definitely fell in love with Owen *swoon* so hard.

Bella has turned out to be as beautiful as her mother, strong, and smart! After a series of unfortunate events and rumors by twatwaffles being spread about her at school, she decides to go to college farther away from home. She didn’t want to deal with the humiliation.

…which, hello!? Turned out great for her, because she not only met Owen, she met her awesome roomy, Laura.

Owen is a hockey player. He’s a sexy Georgia boy with a southern drawl that will leaving you swooning! His sweet southern charm is every girls dream!

“You’re my stars, my sun, and my sky. You’re my whole damn universe.”

Owen’s seemingly cocky attitude leaves a bad taste in Bella’s mouth. She tries to deny her attraction to him, while Owen tries to break down her walls. He wants to show Bella who he really is. Not who everyone else says and thinks he is.

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m yours, whether or not you choose to believe that right now. And you will. I don’t quit easily, and when it comes to you, I don’t quit at all.”

“I tasted every part of her last night and I still hadn’t gotten enough–I couldn’t This girl was my drug, and I had an incurable addiction.”

*SWOOOOOON* who wouldn’t want someone to say such sweet and beautiful things to them!

I loved everything about this story! I loved Owen and Bella. I loved that we get to see Lucas and Sam again throughout the book. I even love the tension because in the end, it brought them so much closer together and showed how much love can conquer. I loved the “secrets” because in the end, you realize when you love someone and when you have a family that loves you, they’ll stick by you no matter what. They’ll always have your back and be there to protect you.

Finding me can be read as a standalone, but you do (like I said earlier) get to visit with characters from Always You. I highly recommend reading Always You, because it was just as phenomenal as Finding Me! This book was beautiful, sweet, and refreshing! I loved every second of this wonderfully written story. I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait to see what Stephanie has in up her sleeve for her fans next!

Combustible, Scorching, Sweet, and Pulls at your Heart Strings. Always You is a Second Chance Romance. It’s a story about love, loss, reconnection, and friendship. Heartbreakingly Beautiful, Stephanie definitely wowed me with these character and the story line!

Samantha and Lucas met in College. They became close friends, but Samantha wanted more. She had been crushing on him since the day she met him. Lucas was a “known” playboy. Never settling down with a girlfriend. The last night Sam see’s Lucas, is at his going away party. She tells him goodbye and he walks out of her life to begin his career in another city.

6 years go by and a friend request pops up on Facebook. This friend request sets in motion numerous “friendly” get-together’s that quickly turn romantic. The sexual tension between these two is so hot……it’s explosive! I couldn’t help but root for Sam and Lucas to get their HEA!

“I never stopped being yours. I’ll always belong to you. No matter how stupid you are.”

This book had so much feeling in it. The characters and story line completely captivated me. I was so emerced in Sam and Lucas’ story that I was flipping page after page until I reached the end! Review – The Contract by Melanie Moreland

image

image

Gah! I think I’m in swoony heaven right now! My word. The Contract by Melanie Moreland is so utterly captivating, so addicting, so beautiful. My heart can’t take the transformation that happens in this book. Its literally breath taking.

Written perfectly, The Contract follows Richard and Katy through lies and deceit, power, hurt, anger and sadness. Before developing into pure bliss. A stunning love story packed with an infinite amount of feels. As a reader, so fully sucked into the book, I fell in love with the characters as they did. My feelings were the same as theirs and I felt as though I was IN the story with them.

From the start it’s pretty easy to guess how the book will develop.. You can predict what is going to happen. BUT what you can’t predict is HOW it happens and I have to admit, reading The Contract was nothing like I predicted, only BETTER. As I mentioned the characters development over the story is nothing but gripping.
Richard is an absolute a*se, not going to lie. I can’t count the amount of times I wanted to smack him, but I reveled in the fact that I could see what was going and I couldn’t wait for him to eat his words..
Katy was the perfect heroine for this book. So utterly sweet and adorable. My heart ached for her. Her personal journey and pain and her reasons for signing the contract blew me away. Katy is so easy to connect too, so easy to love. In fact this whole book is easy to love.

This is my first book by Melanie, it won’t be my last. Her writing is powerful, story telling effortless.

5 captivating, sign my heart away stars.

A tyrant by day, a playboy by night. That is the reputation that precedes Richard VanRyan. He lives life the way he wants, no concern for the opinion of others. He cares for no one, is completely unrepentant, and he has no desire to change his ways.

Katharine Elliott works under Richard as his PA. She despises him and his questionable ethics, but endures all the garbage he sends her way, because she needs the job. Her end goal is far more important than the daily abuse and demands she tolerates from her nasty tyrant of a boss.

Until the day, he asks her for something she never expected. A new role with a personal contract— fiancée instead of PA.

What happens when two people who loathe each other, have to live together and act as though they are madly in love?

Sparks.

That’s what happens.

Can the power of love really change a person?

Will they survive the contract?

What do you do when the one person you hate the most becomes the one person you can’t live without?

Review – Untamed by Callie Harper

image

image

Firstly, she thrilled me with her Dominating alpha.
Secondly, she stole my breath with her bad boy superstar.
Thirdly, she’s gone and well and truly ruined me with her mountain man.
The she I’m referring to, Callie Harper. Alpha writer extraordinaire, panty melting wizard, and heart melting magician. Each and every time do I pick up a Callie Hart novel, do I wonder how she’s going to top the one before. Then she does, spectacularly!

Untamed is perfection. Like utter class. Everything fits together, every blast of heat, every draw of angst, every flip of tension and every tug of love, comes together in beautiful harmony, leaving behind a masterpiece.

From the first meeting between Heath & Violet a strong sexual tension builds. My skin pricked from the anxiety of reading these two and following their sexy, blistering hot relationship.
My feelings exploded along the way so many times, from getting super hot under the collar, to swooning so hard I thought I’d melt, to heart pounding, breath stealing moments where I almost screamed at my kindle.

Callie has taken a different turn with Untamed, in that it’s one full novel and not set in volumes. Is that better? For me personally, yes. Although Callie has never had a problem keeping her previous books flowing, Untamed has such a powerful pull to it while reading that splitting it up could have lost that?

I honestly can’t put my feelings for Heath into words. I have no expressions to fully do him justice. I mean he’s a hot, delicious, sinful man mountain. With a body carved out of stone and a dirty, deep voice. But he’s also all that and more. He’s my favourite so far.. His relationship with Violet is beautifully written. I didn’t know how I’d feel about Violet, I’m not a diva fan. But Callie managed to place her in my heart and make me love her. So I fell for the Man Mountain and the Diva. And I did so spectacularly.

image

5 massive mountain man stars

image

image

There’s a massive, ripped mountain man named Heathcliff. He’s brooding, bearded, and sexy as hell. Then there’s city girl Violet, a TV producer hungry for a hit show. You’d best not get in the way of her Louboutin heels or make her chip her nails. They both have secrets they’re trying to hide. They’re having even more trouble keeping their hands off of each other. When Violet’s reality show “Hot Off the Grid” starts filming in Heath’s tiny Vermont town, what could possibly go wrong?

Review – Glass Ceilings by A. M Madden

image

image

Glass Ceilings is a gripping, breathtaking read that we’ll and turny cut me off from adulting.
Wickedly suspensful and super hot, Glass Ceilings threw me through a whirlwind of emotions. I laughed, I cried, I got mad and I got really happy. All the while glued to the edge of my seat, flipping the pages, fully engrossed in the story.

Nick and Angela are brilliant. Written perfectly, they both harbour such a great connection, that oozes from the page and infiltrated me as the reader. The tension between the two radiates throughout the book, pulling at heart strings, burning me up and leaving me in a head spin.

The draw to this book is the underlying mystery and suspense. I spent so much time trying to piece things together, only to be thrown a loop and something twist everything up. Glass Ceilings lit an exciting spark of intrigue. Deceit and lies cloud Nick and Angela, pulling them apart but despite this there is always a blistering raw connection that just drags the two back together.

Overall A. M Madden delivers a knock out read, one that held my attention and devoured ME!

Dual Review: Fallacy & Irrefutable by Kimberly Bracco

IrrefutableCover1Irrefutable Banner

Review Graphic

Heartbreakingly beautiful, sizzling hot, angsty–Irrefutable is all of these things and oh, so much more! This story had my emotions all out of whack at moments and then I’d feel all happy, swoony, or hot and bothered the next. Irrefutable is the conclusion of Alex and Quinn’s story. I was dying to get my hands on this ever since I finished reading Fallacy which left me breathless and begging for more with that cliffy!

This book picks up right where Fallacy left off. Quinn is planning a wedding. A wedding to a man who she isn’t in love with.

Alex is distraught. He can’t bare to see Quinn with another man’s ring on her finger.

Quinn has a difficult decision to make. Does she marry Jordan and be miserable? Or does she say no and ruin her career?

The connection is still so blatantly, obviously there between them.

“Just touching her, in the simplest of ways, starts a fire deep within my soul. A fire that only burns for her. A fire that hasn’t been lit in a very long time.”

This book pulls at your heart strings. These characters go through so much turmoil and heartbreak. Alex’s never wavering support of Quinn, regardless of her marrying someone else, is completely endearing. He’s there for her no matter what.

Quinn is stubborn as hell. With her being messed up from her childhood, she still refuses to acknowledge how much Alex loves her.

In Irrefutable you see Quinn and Alex grow by leaps and bounds. Not only personally, for themselves, but also in their relationship.

They learn to build a trust that is unbreakable. An unbreakable bond. They learn to give in to certain things, but never give up.

“After all the pain and struggle, I finally feel whole. The bond between us is irrefutable.”

I truly loved being in Alex and Quinn’s world. Their snarky banter had me laughing with (sometimes at) them. It felt like they had become friends of mine in real life. I’ll miss them for sure. I’ll have to pick them back up one day just to visit them.

Bracco did a phenomenal job, not only with Irrefutable, but also with Fallacy. She brought the characters to life with her beautiful and unique writing. I can’t wait to see what she has to offer up to the world next!

Heart-pounding, steamy, angst, edge-of-your seat!…this is how I felt while reading Fallacy. This book had me so wound up flipping page after page wanting to see what happens next! Bracco delivered an phenomenal book that left me begging for more!

Quinn knows what she wants. She’s a beautiful, strong, independent woman who’s dead set on making CEO of her company and pushing her father out the door. She doesn’t have time for relationships. She prowls for men at night to satisfy her sexual cravings. One Hello. One Night. One Romp. One Goodbye. That’s all these poor men ever get from the career focused Quinn.

Alex is your typical man whore. He’s sexy beyond belief. He’s smart and he’s successful in his career. He’s not looking for a relationship. He fills his bed with meaningless sex and women who’s names they’re lucky if he remembers!

When Quinn and Alex’s worlds collide, they were both looking for the same thing. What they always look for. A one time romp in the sack with a hot sexy body. What neither realized at the time, was that one time together, would ruin each other for anybody else.

Alex is determined to win Quinn over. He wants her and no one else.

Quinn has a past. A past that has made her afraid. Afraid of relationships….afraid of commitment….afraid of trusting men.

Alex is kind and caring. He’s patient with Quinn because he knows something is holding her back. He doesn’t know what it is. Quinn gradually starts trusting Alex more and more. He can read her emotions like an open book. He always knows just what to say or what to do to keep her calm. Everything between them is going great…..until her greatest fear and her father rears their ugly heads and she breaks things off with him.

Alex tries talking to her. Tries to figure out what made her scared enough to run from him. She avoids him at all costs though. Seeing no other choice, Alex takes a job he was offered in Arizona.

Determined to keep on the track she’s been on for her career, Quinn goes back to her previous ways of “hit it and quit it”. No emotions. No second hook-ups. No man will get in her way of taking of her fathers company. She was finally on the right track.

Or so she thought.

2 years pass and Alex is returning to his home state. To his friends……to Quinn. Maybe? Hopefully? When he returns, he finds something he never imagined. Quinn is engaged to someone else. She’s changed. She’s not the same girl he left. He doesn’t recognize her and neither do their friends. She’s become the one thing she’s always hated. A cliché.

Will Alex find a way to change her mind? Will he be able to win her back?

Or will Quinn marry someone else and not give him a second thought?

Holy Wow! This book ended with a cliffhanger that had me spinning! Fallacy was hypnotic! It captivated me from page one until the very end! I’m now ecstatic that I don’t have to wait for Irrefutable to be released! I don’t think I could handle the turmoil going through Quinn and Alex that I was left with!

It was only supposed to be one night. One night of hot, no-strings-attached sex.

But what happens when one night turns into two years? Two of the best years of their lives… until it wasn’t.

Quinn Taylor doesn’t believe in happily-ever-afters. Her heart hardened by the past. Despite Quinn’s inability to trust, Alex Conway knows there’s something worth fighting for.

Alex makes Quinn question everything she’s ever believed to be true about men. She doesn’t want to let him in but there’s no denying he’s under her skin.

Just when Alex thinks he’s broken down her walls, Quinn runs, breaking his heart, and he has no idea why.

After two long years without closure, Alex has finally had enough of wondering what went wrong. He’s determined to win Quinn back. The only problem… she’s engaged to someone else.

Can Alex figure out how to win back the love of his life before she breaks both their hearts irrevocably? Will Quinn realize that everything she’s ever believed is all a fallacy?

Review: The Officer’s Promise by K. Langston

BrothersInBlueBrothersInBlue3

Review GraphicBrothersInBlue8

Heartbreaking, joyful, angsty, funny….The Officers Promise takes you on a whirlwind ride of emotions through this novella. This was a phenomenally perfect beginning to The Brother’s In Blue series! K. Langston has blown me away with characters that I couldn’t get enough of!
Ryker is a sinfully sexy NY Police Officer. He lives a simple life of a single man and fighting crime. It’s in his blood. He wants to settle down, but he wants to do it with “the one”. He doesn’t want to settle for something that won’t last. What he really wants? His childhood love who was taken to live with her Grandmother after a tragic accident.
MaryAnn is a beautiful woman. She’s married to a man with money. Only problem? It’s not the life she wants. She’s living in a prison. A cage. She stays out of fear. What will he do next? She longs for the simpler carefree days of her childhood and her best friends who she hasn’t seen in years.
When Ryker and MaryAnn meet, they know nothing can come of it. She’s married and he’s not the kind of guy to disrupt a relationship…..until he notices the bruises. He can’t walk away. It’s his duty to serve and protect and he’ll do anything to protect her. Sparks begin to fly between these two characters and it’s beautiful! Ryker and MaryAnn will make you cry, make you laugh….and Ryker’s sexy and sweet self will make you swoon all over the place!
This story is not only amazing, but it comes with a very important, real life information. The Officer’s Promise is real, it’s raw and I loved every heartbreakingly beautiful minute of it. I am in desperate need of the other Brother’s In Blue Series ASAP! K. Langston stole my breath away with The Officers Promise!

EACH HOLDING A DIFFERENT BADGE OF THE LAW

EACH SWORN TO SERVE AND PROTECT

prom-ise: assure someone that one will definitely do, give, or arrange something; undertake or declare that something will happen.

NYPD Officer Ryker Cunningham comes from a family of men committed to upholding every letter of the law. But when he crosses paths with MaryAnn Glover, a troubled woman who not only tempts his heart but also his self-control, his need to protect her overrides everything he’s ever believed in. With a promise to keep her safe at any cost, Ryker shows MaryAnn what it means to live without fear…and love without regret.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a novella, consisting of approximately 38,000 words. The Officer’s Promise is not only Ryker and MaryAnn’s story but an introduction to the Brothers in Blue series as well. The remaining five books of the series will be full-length novels. Each book will feature one of the six Cunningham brothers. I recommend you read them in order as the characters will have appearances in each of the stories.

The Officer’s Promise is written from dual POV, with an HEA and no cheating.

The Officer’s Promise Excerpts

Excerpt: #1

My hands moved to her ass, dipping beneath the little black dress that had driven me half-crazy tonight, my fingers digging into the soft skin to lift her up as I fed from her hungry mouth. Short, ragged breaths were the only sounds filling the hallway, and I was certain they fled in time with my thrumming heart.

Her hands snuck beneath my shirt, wrestling for purchase. Her touch was a sword, slicing me wide open for her to reach inside and take what was left of me.

She could have it.

It was all useless without her anyway.

“Ryker, please.”

The longing in her voice had my hands moving to her face, angling her head so I could find a deeper connection. A growl vibrated in my chest as I lifted her and carried her to the hotel room door. Once inside, I stood her up next to the bed, swaying slightly, almost drunk on her taste, her presence.

Her fucking need.

My control was fading, erased by my own desire for her.

“I want you so bad, baby,” I whispered between her lips. “Can you feel it?”

“Yes.”

My hands moved to the back of her dress, drawing down the zipper slowly. “Tell me what you feel.”

“Hands.”

My tongue tasting the skin of her neck, I asked, “Where?”

“Everywhere.”

Her dress fluttered to the floor. “What else?”

“Lips,” she answered breathlessly.

I pressed them to her bare shoulder. “Where?”

With the tilt of her head, her mouth stole mine, fingers burrowing into the back of my head as she tugged me closer, completely taking over. Each scrape of her nails raking across my skin and every moan that escaped her mouth was one step closer to my demise.

Jesus, I could come just from this fucking kiss.

She slowed her breathing and the kiss, easing her hold on my neck, relinquishing control back to me.

“What else do you feel, baby?” I asked in a deep voice that made her eyes flutter closed as I pressed myself against her.

I could taste it on her lips, but I was dying to hear her say it. In the span of three breaths, she finally opened her eyes once more and answered.

“You.”

Excerpt #2

She didn’t come in the following week.

Or the next.

I found myself constantly worried about her. It was driving me crazy, and I needed to know she was okay. Today was my day off, but I went to the West Side Deli for lunch anyway. I’d been here every single day since, hoping like hell she’d show up.

I’d almost given up for the day, after sitting here for the last four hours, when she finally walked in. Rain pelted the sidewalk outside but she was wearing those damn sunglasses again.

Anger simmered in my blood as I slid from the booth, halting her before she could even place her order.

She kept her chin tucked to her chest, eyes trained on the floor as she tried to sidestep me.

“Whoa, MaryAnn, are you all right?”

Her gaze lifted to mine, and I could see the dark shadow beneath the tinted shades. “I’m fine.”

“Are you? Because you don’t look fine. Come sit with me for a minute. Let’s talk.”

“I can’t, I’m in a hurry.”

“Listen, I just want to be your friend. Remember when we were friends and we could talk and trust each other?”

Her lip trembled. “Please, I just need to get my order and get home. If I’m gone too long he’ll—”

She snapped her mouth closed, realizing her mistake.

“He’ll what?”

“Nothing, never mind.” She shoved me aside and made her way to the counter to place her order. Once she had her cup in hand, I met her over by the fountain.

“Listen, I appreciate your concern, but like I told you before, I’m fine,” she tossed out, refusing to look in my direction.

She continued to shift her face away from me, and I was growing more and more irritated by the second. “I don’t believe you.”

    “Excuse me?”

“I said I don’t believe you. I think you’re far from fine. I think you’re in danger and need help.”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I’m not stupid, MaryAnn. I’m a fucking cop for Christ’s sake.”

She recoiled, and I instantly regretted the anger in my tone. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Then why are you wearing sunglasses when it’s raining outside?”

“My contacts were giving me problems this morning and—”

I reached up, gently pulling them down her nose, revealing her eyes, the right one damn near swollen shut.

“Jesus,” I gritted. She quickly shoved them back in place, spinning away from me. “Who did that to you?”

    “No one.”

    “MaryAnn—”

“God, why are you doing this? Why can’t you mind your own business and leave me the hell alone?”

I stepped in front of her, gently cupping her elbow. “I just want to help you.”

    “I don’t need your help.”

“Your husband did that, didn’t he? And the bruise I saw a couple of weeks ago, he did that, too.”

“You have no idea what you’re talking about.”

    “Then call me a liar.”

Silence hung heavy between us.

“Why stay? Why not leave him?” I asked, desperate to know why someone as strong and beautiful as her would put up with a piece of shit like that.

“Because I’m more afraid to leave than stay.”

    “Ticket number 298!”

She jerked from my grasp, snatched her order off the counter, and stormed out without a second glance.

Review – Sway by Adriana Locke

What a welcome to Savannah and to the Landry series!

Barrett Landry was considered Savannah’s most eligible bachelor. Charming. Unbelievably handsome. Playboy extraordinaire. Mayor and candidate for governor of Georgia. He could have any woman he wanted… and has. Until the night that meets hard working single mother Alison Baker. She’s the first woman to not fall under the spell of the dashing politician. Oh no. Alison has been down this path before – and she has the broken heart, home and divorce to prove it. Between raising her son, Huxley, two jobs and college classes Alison doesn’t have the time to fall for the mayor. She certainly doesn’t want to be pushed back into the eyes of the public! Her first priority must be her son, especially since her ex-husband has chosen to ignore the precious ten year old.

But of course, Barrett has other plans.

From the moment, from the very first moment he lays eyes on Alison Barrett is done for – and he knows it. She’s unlike any woman that he has been with. She sees Barrett… the REAL Barrett Landry behind the family political machine. He’s drawn to her just because she stands for what she believes to be true and he finds that he wants that beauty and simple honesty in his life. Because the mayor is beginning to have doubts about the career he has chosen. He’s not sure if he likes the wheeling and dealing and back room antics. At his core he wants to serve the people of Georgia and make his family proud. When did he let the limelight change him?

Alison is just as drawn to the sexy mayor. He makes her feel alive and he makes her forget that she’s alone. He makes her feel desired, beautiful and treasured. But Alison is scared not just for herself but for her son. She has to protect him. He must come first no matter how much she wants to pursue something lasting with Barrett. Every day as the campaign heats up and more dirt comes out, she is reminded of what she left behind. Still, what she and Barrett build together could be worth all the anguish. Watching her son with Barrett she knows what she wants but is still unsure of taking the risk to have it all.

There are so many moments in this book that I found myself giggling, swooning, sighing. Barrett is such a dominant, sensuous southern gentleman even when he’s down and dirty. No woman that reads this book will not think of him and want to get graped. He is dedicated to his family and to his constituents – he simply wants everyone in his life to be proud of him. Alison is as strong as she is beautiful. She’s a fighter but conflicted. Her head tells her to run but her heart and yes, her body, is an entirely different story. These two have the hottest moments, the sweetest embraces, and the most heartwarming conversations. And then of course, there’s Huxley. How could I not adore this amazingly insightful little man? So smart and independent but so needy and vulnerable at the same time. The secondary cast made this book so much fun to read! Lola is the best friend that I want in my corner. Troy is a loyal employee and friend to Barrett that deserves his own HEA. Graham, Ford and the amazing Lincoln Landry are all introduced as well as the Landry girls Camilla and Sienna. There are even some rather… unsavory characters that are important to the story as well.

I cannot say enough about how much I loved this book and how much I cannot wait for the rest of the series! What an awesome family and if Barrett is any indication the romance and swoony moments will be off the charts! I have already threatened the author with bodily injury and a recreation of a scene from Misery if she doesn’t hurry with Lincoln’s book. Luckily, Addy knows that I’m only kidding. Mostly. Fantastic, Adriana!

EXCERPT

“I want a chance to win you over,” he breathes, peering at me. The way his eyes search mine make it seem like time stands still. “Will you let me try?”

He forces a swallow and the look of hesitation, the internal fight he’s having, isn’t lost on me. It’s there, right beneath the surface, and when I add my concerns to the mix, it’s enough to make me balk. Just a bit.

“I’ll think about it,” I whisper, holding on to the little strand of courage I have left.

“Say yes.”

Instead of responding, I ask, “Where’d you get that scar over your right eye?” I reach out and press gently on the raised skin. I expect him to pull back, but he doesn’t.

My hand shakes as I touch his warmed skin. His forehead is silky and smooth. I’d like to run my hands over every inch of it, feel it ripple beneath my fingertips.

The corner of his lips twitch. “Lincoln hit me in the head with a baseball.”

“Bad reflexes on your part?”

“Wicked curveball on his,” he says, his face breaking out into a full smile.

“I thought he played center field?”

“He does. But he pitched some growing up.”

We stand inches apart, my hand gently brushing down the side of his face. Although I feel like he’d stand here all night and talk to me, it’s not possible.

“I really need to get back to work,” I say, trying to unlock my eyes from his.

“Dinner? This week?”

I can barely resist the look in his eye, the one that implores me to say yes. The one that makes me believe he really does want to have dinner and spend a few hours with me.

I need to get away, put some space between us while I can.

“We ran into each other tonight,” I shrug. “If we’re supposed to see each other again, then I guess we will.” I start to turn away before I completely buckle under his gaze.

“How am I supposed to get ahold of you? I don’t have your number,” he calls after me.

Heading up the steps to the Savannah Room, I glance at him over my shoulder. “You’re the Mayor. Figure it out.”

Review – All The Waters Of The Earth by Leslie McAdam

image

All The Waters Of The Earth is a sensational piece of art. Reading this book was like watching an artist at work.

We begin with the blank canvas. We are slowly brought into the story with Lucy, soft brush strokes begin to outline her story and bring us into her world. Lucy is incredibly sexy and super Sassy, but has those cracks we all have from past heartache. I felt her immediately. Understanding the person behind the romance writer.

The artist continues, pulling you in deeper, now splashes of colour are added as we meet our hero, Jake. A complex, hot man who likes to wear suits for stupid amounts of hours. He’s intriguing. The romance lover in all of us knows he has a past and immediately we can feel the attraction he has in Lucy from the first kiss alone. And the tingles Lucy feels are felt in us.
The artist is back, pulling back our focus onto the deep, sultry lines that now fill the picture, the tension between Lucy and Jake sizzles, the long sweeping brush strokes grab your attention and hold it, strongly.

Mixed with long, deep lines we get some intense bursts of colour, sharp, short lines that catch the breath and speed up the heart. Seriously the hotness that oozes from Lucy and Jake is off the charts.

Gradually, a picture begins to take shape, a story forms the writer of beautiful romance suddenly becomes the heroine with her own hero. This story is sexy, it’s sweet. It has humour and sadness. My heart fluttered for these two and hurt for Lucy.

Throughout it all my attention is held, hard and soft brush strokes, light and dark, pull together to leave us with a stunning masterpiece.

5 intense, artistic stars.

Romance novelist Lucy Figueroa lives a life of the imagination. While her stories are filled with fictional alpha male heroes, her real life is filled with nothing but Mr. Wrongs. As a sassy, strong, single mom, she doesn’t need anyone… except maybe a new book idea. And to forgive herself for the mistakes of the past.

Lucy’s sexy new neighbor, Jake Slausen, looks like one of her characters come to life. While he fits the heartthrob part, he doesn’t act it, too distracted by his cell phone and his job for any relationship. Damaged by his childhood, he’s ignored his true calling and goes through his days on autopilot…until he meets Lucy.

First drawn together by chemistry, then by a fierce need to protect each other even from themselves, will Jake and Lucy learn to accept their pasts or will they convince themselves that happily ever afters only exist in romance novels?

Review – Wasted Words by Staci Hart

image

image

Reading a book is an adventure. Something that takes away everything else and propels you into a different world. Some books you just click with, some books you really enjoy.
Some books though, they speak to you, they embed themselves in you, never to be forgotten. You breathe these books, allow yourself to be consumed by them. You devour every single word, you feel every single emotion and you LOVE EVERY SINGLE SECOND. Some people have favourite books, some have favourite authors. Some have both. I have both.
You see Staci Hart is a top, TOP author of mine. Her books speak to me on a level like no other. I LOSE myself every time I pick up a Hart novel and I drown in words that light up my heart and soul. Each and every time Staci releases a new book it becomes my favourite. After reading Last Call, I said I read one of the best books I’d ever read. Then along came Wasted Words.

Going into WW I knew that by the end I’d be this soppy freaking mess, floating on a cloud of heavenly feels and ready to pour my heart out. But, now that I’m sat here, ten minutes after reading the final word I’m a soppy freaking mess of epic proportions. My heavenly cloud is a full sky and I don’t even know where to begin with the heart pouring.

From the very beginning it was hard not to feel bubbles begin in my stomach, my heart kicked up a little faster. Slowly, blissfully, the bubbles grow and pop into butterflies that flutter. The closer Cam and Tyler became the stronger those butterflies kicked up, until I was left with freaking birds flapping through me. And that was just at the first kiss!
As each and every chapter, perfectly named as always, progressed I found myself falling deeper in love. I mean Tyler, come on. He’s a walking, talking dream boat. Everything about him was just, well, perfect. No other words needed!
But you know who I fell in love with more in this book.. CAM. That little fairy, sat high on her own shelf flew down and ripped me to shreds. I’m sure, and as much as I hate to say it, some people won’t like her, they’ll call her “weak” or whatever but THEY WILL BE WRONG. Cam is REAL!
She is that person we all have in us, the one that knows our own abilities but still pulls ourselves down. Her anxieties/fears/issues are in everyone, we feel them or will feel them at some point. And those things are what solidified my love for Cam. I felt her, every single word resonated somewhere, every single fear was relatable and it made it all the more beautiful.

Together Cam and Tyler are stunning. So perfect. Just everything. I want to burn with them, burn in their fire, because burning together is bliss.

Countless times I felt myself trying to hang onto my emotions. It was pointless. They were ripped from me, along with my breath, my heart and my soul..

I highlighted so many parts of this book, took so many notes, stopped every couple of chapters just to breathe and calm the inner flames of Cam & Tyler but in the end it was no use. My smile couldn’t be any bigger, my heart couldn’t be any more full, my tears couldn’t be hotter. I’m dizzy, beautifully, blissfully dizzy. I’ve read one of the best books I’ll ever read, one that I will pick up anytime and fall in love with every time. This bookworm has fallen deep for the fairy and her giant.

What happens when you let go?
Well you fly.
So freaking high, on the burning flames, TOGETHER.

5 burning together stars!

Some universal truths refuse to be ignored.

Peanut butter and jelly are a match made in heaven. Spaghetti and meatballs are best friends forever. And guys like Tyler Knight don’t go for girls like Cam Emerson.

She knew from the second she met him that he didn’t belong on her bookshelf, the six-foot-six ex-tight end with a face so all-American, it could have sold apple pie. So she shelved him next to the supermodels and rock stars and took her place on her own shelf — the one with the flannel-clad, pasty-faced comic book nerds. Most of her boyfriends have existed between the pages of books, but rather than worrying over her own lacking love life, she puts all her energy into playing Cupid, using her job at the book bar, Wasted Words, as her stomping ground.

Tyler Knight always looks on the bright side. His career-ending injury turned into a job as a sports agent. A horrible breakup led him to Cam, his quirky, smart roommate who is far more beautiful than she realizes. She’s made it perfectly clear she’s not interested in him — not like that at least — but if she ever changes her mind, he won’t hesitate. Because he doesn’t see the lines she’s drawn between them, as much as she insists that they’re there. Deep down he knows that despite their differences, they’re a match well made.

*A romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma*
