There are books that you read and they fill you with joy. There are books that consume you and it’s all you can do to turn those pages to see what is going to happen next to the people that have taken over your life and have residence in your heart.

Then there are books like this when the characters and story take on a life of their own, grab you by the throat and pour all those dark emotions, obsessive compulsions and mind numbing, spare no one and burn-it-to-the-ground passion into your very soul and leave you devastated. That was Steal You. The Keeper and his Little Bird left me speechless, shaking and asking myself as I turned the page and read the last word: Am I that crazy, too?

Their relationship is so very forbidden. He’s a professor and she’s his student. He’s had his eye on her for a while. He’s determined. She’s a good girl, but every good girl has a bad side. Still some have a streak of crazy. Xander saw that streak, reveled in it and watched it grow. The twists, turns and oh-my-god moments in this story left me with my hand over my mouth in shock, screaming at my kindle or clutching at my throat. A few times I stepped away from my kindle because I felt like my device was on fire from witnessing some of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read. And still the moments that I thought to myself that Xander and Lizith were absolutely insane and that I would just walk away for good, I found myself pulled in and turning those pages once again.

Kayla and CC have written this book so flawlessly, so seamlessly that there is no way to know that two people co-authored this tale. Two authors with one heart and one very tangled soul. This book is utterly brilliant, dark from its roots to the tips of its branches and so captivating that I long for more… just more. It is beautifully written and a roller coaster ride that I wasn’t even prepared for.

So very well done! Congratulations, ladies. SIX STARS!

Gentleman Nine by Penelope Ward

Penelope Ward does it again with another breathtaking novel of lost love and second chances!

From the very beginning of this novel I was swept off my feet with an instant, believable connection that built slowly and so intensely. Channing and Amber are such an amazing couple, Penelope has a way of weaving her characters together so seamlessly and effortlessly. Nothing ever feels forced or rushed and it makes me appreciate her stories and characters so much more.

I would say this book was one of Penelope’s lighter books, as in not as angsty as some of her previous ones, but I still gobbled up every word and loved every second of it. I loved that Amber and Channing had a comedic value to their banter. My grin at times actually hurt my face but I was so invested in the happiness and ease of these characters that I didn’t care. The swoon was off the charts in Gentleman Nine.. I think a few times, my butterflies got butterflies! No joke!

The overall set up of this novel is actually genius in the way that despite us getting a larger insight into this book from the blurb, Penelope manages to throw in curveballs and never once did I find it predictable or obvious. Once I started I was all in and that’s from the pure beauty of Penelope’s writing skills.

Gentleman Nine is a best seller for a reason. It’s a killer book! One I’m so, so happy I read!

Review – Second Wind by Aimee Nicole Walker

I can’t believe I’m saying this (sorry Josh and Gabe. I still love you. ) but Rush and Lincoln have taken over my heart. This is my top read this year. My eyes couldn’t keep up with how fast my brain was insisting I read the words. Second chance tropes are my absolute favorite and Aimee has even further solidified this!

As I was reading, I couldn’t stop thinking how beautiful of a movie this book could be made into. I know I would live in the theater and watch it over and over and over….. Yes, it’s that PERFECT! The raw emotions, the heartbreak, the pain, the mending of souls, the ability to forgive, and the TRUE MEANING OF LOVE is what this book embodies.

My heart is seriously bursting at the seams right now with this absolutely perfect story that touched me to my soul. I felt the physical pain of my heart breaking as well aa cried tears of joy when it was pieced back together with all the love and happiness in the world!

I suddenly felt an invisible pull to go to the pier and ride the damn thing. No, Rush wouldn’t be with me in person, but the memory of him would be. I walked the short distance and bought tickets for the Centennial Wheel. The pier was packed with families and friends just looking to have a good time and enjoy the beautiful June weather before the serious humidity hit later in the month.

I felt a little silly as I approached the long line by myself, but I passed the time by texting Phee and checking my email. Wow. One of the best series I’ve ever read has come to an end. I don’t want to say goodbye. Helen has me addicted, and I may just need rehab to get over the withdrawals. Action packed, high intensity thrills is what this book is all about. I thought my heart was going to stop from going into overdrive for so long.

The suspense will have you on the edge of your seat as everything comes to a head. I admit, Helen kept blowing my mind at every turn. I never knew what was going to happen next. I love when books are unpredictable. The twists and turns are around every corner which prevents me from going into any detail of the book. I would never ruin such perfection for anyone. It will be super hard saying goodbye, but I know whatever Helen gives us next will be equally as amazing.

Sordid is a masterpiece.

Sordid will easily sit in my top reads of 2018 list. The writing, the story, the characters, the development, the connection, the intensity, the angst. EVER-Y-THING was STELLAR!

Who doesn’t love a wounded hero?
Grant Lancaster is a tempting, sinful dish of a man. His wounded, broken life and soul drew me in and gripped me SO TIGHT. I was addicted to his cold demeanour, it made him seem so much more perfect as his walls came tumbling down and his love for Bridget magnified. Bridget is strong!! She’s powerful and she owns herself. I connected with her. I related to her. I applaud her. She is my favourite Ava heroine yet!!

Sordid takes every raw emotion and pulls them apart until you’re left dangling by a thread. The angst and tension pulsates from this novel in huge tidal waves that crash and burn relentlessly against the heart and soul. Grant and Bridget are intense and explosive and damaged beyond compare. Their HEA is the sweetest reward.

Ava Harrison is a writer that not only draws you into her stories but practically writes you into them too. The feeling I get when reading Ava’s words are insane. I can picture everything, as though I’ve been written in as a side character, sat in the same places her characters are. Her delivery makes me FEEL every single thing she writes about. Overall the experience you get when reading an Ava Harrison book is breathtaking!

I cannot express how much I loved this one. It’s a top, top, top read. 5 stars doesn’t come close to expressing how amazing it actually was!

I have loved this series since book 1,but hands down this book is my favorite. When you look at a book and see it’s a BDSM story, you know you’re in for a hot treat. Laura turns these stories into so much more though, showing vulnerability and finding one’s way in life. I haven’t gotten through one book in this series without tears, tears of joy and tears of sadness. Going through the journey of self discovery is such a beautiful thing, and Laura nails it EVERY SINGLE TIME!!

Jamie just has no idea what is wrong with him that he can’t seem to keep a relationship because something is missing, something down to his very core. When he starts to realize he needs pain to feel satisfied and the startling discovery that he pictures a man to be the only one who can give it to him. He gets introduced into BDSM scene, and suddenly his life finally feels right. He is happier and more fulfilled than ever. He really can’t get enough. It doesn’t help that he rapidly falls head over heels in love with Master Alex in such a short time.

Alex is feeing miserable. He just isn’t getting the satisfaction that he craves as a sadist. When Master Kyler thrusts a newbie his way, he is determined that he is not going there with a newbie, but when he sees another Master taking over, he quickly jumps into what will be the ride of his life.

Omg. What a collaboration!! As an avid lover of both Kyleen and Nora’s work, I was extremely excited to see them collaborate on this. I was definitely not disappointed. They lived up to every expectation I imagined. Extremely hot and sexy while still being meaningful and emotional.

Troy is pretty much a loner only seeking one night stands which he bails from as soon as the deed is done. After being dropped off by his mother at a police station and put into the system, he trusts no one and refuses to let anyone close. He barely makes end meet to live and pay his tuition which he supplements by breaking up with people for those who don’t want to know it themselves. When he takes a job breaking up with someone dressed as a banana, he has no idea how much his life is about to change.

Rebel is the super hot, most requested porn star at Ballsy Boys. He has trouble maintaining a relationship because people can’t handle what he does for a living. When “banana boy” shows up at his doorstep he can’t resist him. He doesn’t care that he’s there to humiliate him by dumping him for his ex.

The chemistry is off the charts from the start with these two. They burn up the sheets and may even burn up your kindle. Be careful. As time passes, things start to get to serious and it scares Troy. He does everything he can to keep his walls up, but how long can you resist when you find someone who truly loves you?

“You really don’t have to come up. I have a shitty little apartment. It’s nothing like your place,” I tell Rebel. “Plus, I’m obviously not up for fooling around.”

“I don’t give a shit.”

I scoff and shake my head but don’t argue further. If we keep hanging out without fucking around, what does that make us? Friends? Something else?

In my apartment, I cringe inwardly, imagining what Rebel must be thinking as he steps into the one room that holds my whole life. Usually when I have a guy in here, we’re too busy getting naked for me to worry what they think of my living space. And, beyond that, I can’t imagine I’d care what any of those randoms think anyway.

“If you don’t have tea, how about I make you some soup or something?”

Rebel’s eyebrows furrow, and the corners of his lips tug down in a frown. There’s a sharp sadness in his striking blue eyes that makes me want to shove him away or crawl into bed and hide for a week, anything to get away from the pity.

“We’re friends, right?” Rebel asks.

“You’ve had your dick in both my mouth and my ass.”

“So…best friends?”

I want to laugh, but the pain meds are starting to wear off, and my nose is starting to throb. “I’m not usually friends with guys I fuck around with,” I explain for what I feel like is the hundredth time since meeting Rebel.

“Then who are you usually friends with?”

My mouth opens and closes like a dumbass fish. I’m not sure if he was trying to throw shade, but damn if he didn’t get me. “I don’t have friends,” I finally admit with a little bite in my tone. I don’t want friends, and I don’t need friends.

“We’re friends; deal with it. Now, soup?” He skirts around me into my kitchen, leaving me at a loss for words. “Why don’t you lay down on the couch and find something for us to watch? I’ll bring you some food, and we’ll get a dose of the painkillers the ER prescribed into you, and you can sleep through the worst of the pain.”

I almost ask again why he’s doing this, but decide that whatever his motivation, it feels nice to be taken care of for a change. I settle onto the couch and put on the second season of Stranger Things.

It’s not long before Rebel brings me a bowl of soup, a second dose of the painkillers, and a glass of water.
