Co-Wrecker by Meghan Quinn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

NERD ALERT!!! NERD ALERT!!! NERD ALERT!!! My name is Karen and I have a new love for nerds…and it’s all Meghan Quinn’s fault! Megan Quinn MADE ME fall in love with the hottest nerd EVER in Co-Wrecker! I had Can’t Buy Me Love—that high-school nerd-meets-popular-cheerleader movie—flashbacks while reading. Co-Wrecker is flirty and fun, a romance where you can’t help but laugh and love! Oh did I LAUGH and LOVE sooo hard!

Co-Wrecker claimed me from the very first page!!! The conversational style writing—so raw and real—CONSUMED ME!!! Co-Wrecker CLICKED!!! I was UTTERLY ENAMOURED with this love story of hot nerd meets brooding beauty and boss. The ice cream shop setting was super fun and brought back many memories. Meghan Quinn, you HAD ME at Friendly’s!!! BEST. SETTING. EVER!!!

Andrew starts a new summer gig at an ice cream shop where he works for a brooding beauty who trains him, giving him the scoop on everything ice cream shop worker. Andrew is not your typical nerd, he is a SMOKIN’ HOT nerd with a bangin’ body, dark hair and glasses with the tall and muscular frame that many drool over at the gym. I was drooling like dripping ice cream because Andrew is a NERD GOD!!! Add scrumptious looks to a funny, flirty, loving, dirty-talking, and possessive alpha personality and you have PURE PERFECTION!!! I LOVED Andrew more than Friendly’s!!!

Blonde and blue-eyed Sadie is Andrew’s trainer at work, a brooding beauty who captures Andrew’s attention right away. Their chemistry is COMBUSTIBLE though Sadie tries to fight that build-up between them.

Everything about this woman is hard as nails but it’s as if when she’s with me, in this little comfort cocoon we formed, she’s soft, sweet, and playful.

With a tight circle of friends she can trust with her secretive past, Andrew will have to break barriers to capture Sadie and make her his, though she can’t help but melt around this gorgeous, lovable, and naughty nerd.

I’m hot for this nerd.

Oh Meghan Quinn! I was HOT for this nerd too! I fell for the nerd who hit me hard like a cannon, and oh was Andrew ALL THAT! Andrew is endearing plus those toned biceps and muscular body don’t hurt. Sadie can’t help but be wrapped up into Andrew’s contagious bubble. Andrew’s personality is over-the-top fun and flirty, just like this story.

“You make me lose my f**king mind.” I whisper.

Her fingers dance along my back.

“You make me forget the world around us.”

Lines blur…secrets surface…the past pounds into them like thunder. Will the co-worker become the co-wrecker, wrecking this relationship before it’s really begun?

Like an ice cream sundae, Co-Wrecker is SIMPLY DELICIOUS, a romance that hits all the right spots. This story SPARKED TO LIFE!!! This book is a breath of fresh air filled, fun and flirty with a lethal dose of heat, humor, and heart. An all-alpha meets sexy nerd; a beautiful and brave heroine; combustible chemistry; witty writing; a fun setting; a raw and real-feeling plot; and a seamless storyline make Co-Wrecker one incredible love story. SO INCREDIBLY GOOD! Co-Wrecker is the perfect romance with a cherry on top!

“He’s a four-leaf clover in a field of weeds.”

This sweet and sexy story made me SWOON IN SPADES!!! Co-Wrecker wrapped itself around me and never let go! I LOVED this love story!!! Co-Wrecker OWNED EVERY OUNCE OF ME!!! I’m still consumed by Co-Wrecker, a hot nerd that wrecked me for all other nerds in a story that is still HOLDING ME. Friendly’s will never be the same.

What do ice cream and Sadie Montgomery have in common? They’re both ice cold, but one taste is never enough.

I wanted to be friends — I would have even settled for her seeing me as anything but a nerd — but there was no getting through. So just like any hard-headed, red-blooded man out there, I made up my mind.

I’d make my coworker fall for me.

I’d like to say it was simple, but like every other epic love story, all it took was one drunken night and a lot of naked courage to get the girl. For a moment, at least.

Love with a coworker is never simple, especially since Sadie’s trying to keep us on the low. Not to mention her persistent ex-boyfriend who won’t leave her alone. But I’ve never been good at giving up, and I don’t plan to start now.

The whole thing is a recipe for a rocky road, but I plan to eat the whole gallon, no matter how bad the brain freeze.

excerpt

Knowing I will probably regret this, I lift from the freezer, ice cream scraper in hand, and jerk toward Sadie just in time to slip on some melted ice on the floor shooting me across the fountain and straight into Sadie.

But not just Sadie; straight into her chest—her billowing, womanly chest. It’s a satisfyingly soft cushion for my head but from her instant outrage, I’m going to guess she’s not keen on me using her breasts as a pillow.

“What the hell are you doing?” she asks, trying to back away, difficult when I’ve got her pinned against the counter.

Fumbling to get some kind of grasp on my falling body, scraper still in hand, I give her a bit of motor boat—not on purpose—and muffle in her breasts, “I’m sowwy.”

“Get off me.”

“I’m twying,” I say, finally getting a grip on the counter behind her and standing tall. Glasses askew, hat on the floor, and a smothered feeling on my face, I straighten my apron and clear my throat. “My apologies.” Her friend is laughing, hand on her stomach, as I push my glasses back on my nose. “Although, I’m grateful for your sturdy bosom for catching my fall. It might have been a twisty straw to the eye, and I’m not sure my glasses would have held up on such an impact.”

Sturdy bosom? Shit, Andrew, don’t fucking say words like bosom. And for the love of God, don’t say a woman has a STURDY bosom. Say words like tits. Tits are more manly.

“Tits,” I mutter.

“Excuse me?” Sadie has the look of horror on her face.

Fuck, did I say that out loud?

“I think he said tits, Sadie,” her friend cuts in, thumbing through the straw holder. Yup, I said tits out loud.

“I heard him, Smills,” Sadie mutters under her breath.

Glaring at me, looking for an answer, I shrug my shoulders, because I have nothing. No way of digging myself out of this one. Funny how your brain can literally stop working the minute you need it the most. Come on, old fella, kick it into high gear. Come up with something witty, something snarky, something that will put a Band-Aid over this rather raw and embarrassing incident.

But, good fuck. I just had my face in her chest. What man could come back quickly from that?

“Well . . .” Sadie has her arms crossed over her bosom, waiting for an answer. No. Her arms are crossed over her breasts. Shit. Shit.

Nerves crawl up the back of my neck, igniting my ears into lava levels of heat. Crap. Just say anything.

Clearing my throat, I pat her shoulder and say, “Sturdy tits.”

And here I thought it couldn’t get any worse, at least my hand didn’t pat down her breast to see if her nipples were made of steel, or to see if her areolas consist of chain-link mesh. You have to look at the positive.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Review – Unprofessional by J.D. Hawkins

Unprofessional Cover

Unprofessional by J.D. Hawkins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The best relationships begin as friendships.

When fire meets friendship, burning with the flames of desire, that friendship ignites and goes BOOM! Friends to lovers…ahhh…what a perfect match…my perfect match! J.D. Hawkins is a master of friends-to-lovers tales. Hawkins infuses his romances with the perfect amount of sweetness, spice, sarcasm, and swoon along with a little angst that make for riveting reads that rock readers’ worlds. Unprofessional is a fresh, flirty, and forbidden friends-to-lovers romance that is full of fire!!!

Unprofessional lured me from the very first page. The conversational style writing—so raw and real—CONSUMED ME!!! This sizzling and sugary story SEDUCED ME where I was under its spell.

Beautiful, brunette, green-eyed, and curvy Margo has maintained a platonic relationship with her hot best friend, Owen, for years…years!!! Owen with his tall, muscular body and dark hair. Owen who is a man-whore, sampling women like fine wine. Owen who has a huge heart. Owen who is all alpha and definitely delicious. Owen knows that his best friend is beautiful, but so off-limits, especially since Margo is his co-worker.

One drunk night, limits were tested…

I realize I’m still drunk—or at least I tell myself that, because this feels so good I need an excuse not to stop.

Now that they have had a taste test, Margo and Owen want more….

Suddenly he sweeps close, lifting me out of the chair to clutch my body to his, crushing his lips on mine to kiss me in a way that makes everything disappear. A kiss that says more than a thousand words ever could.

This kiss was intense, intoxicating, and in depth, capturing more than words. Its passion penetrated me, making me melt all over.

Lines are blurred, and remaining professional may be the toughest test of all.

This sweet and sexy story SEDUCED EVERY OUNCE OF ME, hitting all of the right spots.

Unprofessional is FIRE-HOT and FUN with its fresh setting of BuzzFeed-like atmosphere, captivating characters, serial dating, and forbidden office romance…A PLEASURE TO READ. I loved the long history and connection between Margo and Owen, their fierce friendship was truly powerful and endearing. Though I would have loved to have seen more dialogue between Owen and Margo, and a heavier dose of feels, more emotions from these main characters.

J.D. Hawkins WOWs readers once again with witty writing that is raw with characters that feel real. Slaying both male and female viewpoints, J.D. Hawkins’ Unprofessional flows with a natural ease, so smooth and seamless. The catchy and conversational style of Unprofessional ENTICED and ENTERTAINED me. I CRUSHED on this office romance HARD! Unprofessional was unputdownable.

“Wild horses. They sound a lot like you.”

“Like me?”

“Yeah. Wild and free, right up until they meet the right person to tame them.”

What happens when the internet’s favorite playboy falls in love?

I have the best job in the world. Date beautiful women and write about it.

But I want to take it to the next level: instead of writing about my experiences make it into an online reality show.

But here is the catch. My boss wants me to share the show with a woman co-host. And he wants that woman to be my best friend and co-worker, Margo.

I’ll date beautiful women and she’ll date hot men. Sounds fair enough.

So now I have to watch her fake date hot men. I used to love going home with a different woman every night, but suddenly this isn’t as fun. Seeing Margo with anyone else is driving me crazy.

And the more time I spend with her working on the show, the less I want to keep our relationship in the friends’ zone. And the harder it is to stop myself from imagining her bent over the copier.

Things are about to get unprofessional.

Review- One More Night by Sarah O’Rourke

My rating is 4 out of 5 stars

If you’re looking for a short read with insta love and a demanding alpha, this book is for you. We had a feisty independent heroine, and a a filthy talking demanding alpha.

Shaw has been checking out Waverlee at work for a week determined to make her his. She did everything in her power to thwart all his advances. Then finally she tells him just one night. That turns into One More Night.

Waverlee has trouble committing because of being abandoned by her parents. Lucky for her Shaw is unrelenting and won’t stop until he can call her mine.

Crenshaw Jacobson met the woman of his dreams…and he was determined to spend every night possible with her. But Waverlee Armstrong was leery of commitment, having been abandoned by her family at an early age. She knew that she loved Shaw…but can she learn to trust him and spend just one more night?   Instalove *** Novella *** Standalone

Written as part of Fiona Davenport’s Sex, Vows & Babies Kindle World!
Excerpt

Shivering against him as she parted her lips to speak, Waverlee moaned as his tongue swept forward, stealing the opportunity to deepen their kiss.  And holy moly, the man could kiss.  And not just any old kiss either. It was the-steal-your-breath-I-can’t-live-without-his-touch-because-nothing-else-in-the-world-matters kind of kiss a girl spends her life dreaming about. Their tongues danced together for long minutes as everything else faded away.  The people.  The noise.  Everything took a backseat to the fierce passion Shaw created with a simple touch of his mouth to hers.

Forcing herself to find her voice when Shaw lifted his mouth from hers to take a deep breath, Waverlee flashed a furtive glance up at his darkened eyes.  “Wow,” she breathed shakily, clutching handfuls of his light blue dress shirt in her fists as the world seemed to spin at warp speed, “I..I…don’t think I’ve ever felt anything like that before,” she whispered, the words catching in her throat as his finger swept against her lower lip.

“Then you best hold on real tight to me, baby, ‘cause I’m just getting started,” he replied, dropping his head to steal another deep, wet kiss from her lips as he curved one big hand around her neck, wrapping her silky hair around his fist and tugging gently.

What is the Sex, Vows, and Babies Kindle World?

From sexy stories with married couples fighting against outside forces to keep their happily ever after in the Sex & Vows series to unexpected pregnancies that lead to happy marriages in the Yeah, Baby series… the Sex, Vows & Babies world is full of over the top alphas, sassy heroines, insta-love, wedding bells, and growing families. Although the wide cast of characters in both series have managed to find the loves of their lives, there’s bound to be plenty more out there who could use Sex, Vows & Babies in their lives.  A creation of the fabulous Fiona Davenport, the Sex, Vows & Babies Kindle World is filled with creative stories from amazing authors who pay homage to the original books!

Review- Take Me Back by Meghan March

Seriously Meghan? This book was not only brilliant but a complete shocker. I thought I knew what I was getting myself into when I started reading this, but then felt like the joke was one me. You had me white knuckling my kindle for at least 50% of this one. I didn’t put it down one time. There was just no way I could part with it.

We get a couple trying to make a last ditch effort to save their marriage, but wind up with so much more. When all is said and done, will they take each other back? Guess you have to read to find out. This is Meghan March we’re talking about here, so you know the book will be 5 stars. That is all she is capable of producing. Never a dull moment with her. You never know what you’re gonna get. Excellent.

We fell in love on a beach, got married in paradise, and I carried her off into the sunset. It should have been perfect, but saying “I do” doesn’t guarantee a happily-ever-after.

Two years later, I barely recognize either of us behind the walls we’ve built.

It’s time to bring it full circle. Back to a tropical paradise. Back to find out if we can still make this work.

I’m not willing to give her up, but to save us, I have to risk everything.

Two damaged people.

Countless secrets.

The fight of our lives.

We might be broken, but we’re not done.

Review – Avenged by Jay Crownover

Avenged Cover

Avenged: A MacKenzie Family Novella by Jay Crownover

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Light is easy to love. Show me your darkness. ~R. Queen

I love books bathed in darkness with a sliver of light, as they dig deeply into the depths of hell but somehow find a bit of heaven. Jay Crownover is a mix master of black, shadowy stories that still shine like gold, such as her latest romance, Avenged. Avenged is the perfect fusion of light and dark, heaven and hell, and sin and salvation. Scorching and spine-tingling, Avenged is the newest Jay Crownover sensation that is full of soul and steam!

This story struck me hard like lighting immediately, feels threatening to flood like a dam ready to break. I was CAPTIVATED from the first page, as Avenged UTTERLY CONSUMED ME, eclipsing me like the sun and the moon as this book covered me with darkness and light. This intense and incredible story cut through me like a knife. I was on edge with bated breaths, heart racing, hoping that the light would surpass the dark. Tears fell like raindrops, preparing for a storm, but praying for the sun.

“When you let a wild animal out of a cage, it can be impossible to control.”

“I’m not worried about getting bit. In fact, I’m kind of looking forward to it.”

Avenged is a fractured but fierce and fire-hot fairytale. This is the story of a troubled Snow White and a tainted Prince Charming. Fate brought them together, a man and a woman who toe the line between dark and light, and now must find salvation. Two broken souls who, when joined, become whole. However, the past may strike and tear them apart before they find heaven among the pits of hell.

“We were supposed to be here. We were supposed to save each other.”

Avenged sank into my soul, stamping itself everywhere, as this tale imprinted me with words that became feels. I felt ALL OF THE FEELS. I FELL HARD for Avenged a story that shook my soul with a force I did not see coming, but one that engulfed every emotion like a raging inferno. I LOVED every pulse-pounding minute! The mash-up of characters from several series was fresh and fun, making this story unique, but then again, Jay Crownover’s books are always one-of-a kind…just like her.

A master painter of stories of dark bled with light, I love Jay Crownover’s tales that are tarnished but so perfectly imperfect. Jay Crownover is one of those wondrous writers of brilliant books that break you, bind you, and brandish themselves to you forever. It’s that ‘Crownover Crack’ that hits me hard each time, where I’m rendered with the worst—yet best—emotional hangovers. My Avenged ride through heaven and hell was a riveting roller coaster, one I’d do again in a heartbeat.

She was the promise of everything that could be.

New York Times bestselling author Jay Crownover brings heat and heart to Liliana Hart’s MacKenzie family with AVENGED…

Girl meets boy…

On the worst night of her life when she’s decided to take a drastic step that there is no going back from.

Girl is used to sitting by, letting fate deal cruel hand after cruel hand to good people with soft hearts and she’s had enough.

Girl thinks it’s time to fight back against fate and against men who aren’t careful with all the precious things a woman in love has to give him.

Fate shows girl who’s boss and turns her world and plans upside down without breaking a sweat.

Boy meets girl…

On the best night of his life when he’s decided that he’s going to make moves to be the man he was always meant to be instead of the man he was trained and conditioned to be.

Boy is used to a solitary life, quiet in the woods and knowing the only thing that might be looking for him is trouble and trouble is no longer his stock in trade.

Boy thinks it’s time to show trouble who’s boss, even if this trouble has big blue eyes and a body made to make men stupid. Trouble only gets the upper hand if the boy falls prey to its temptation.

Trouble turns the boy’s quiet, serene life sideways without any effort.

Trouble is fun and fate has a wicked sense of humor when it comes to this boy meeting this girl.

excerpt

She might be Snow White, but there was no way in hell I was anything close to Prince Charming, or any fairytale prince, for that matter. Hell, I wasn’t even the Huntsman that showed mercy and refused to end an innocent life. I was more along the lines of the Big Bad Wolf. I lay in wait for my prey, ready to pounce, all while wearing a civilized front that very few could see through. I had sharp teeth and even sharper claws and I’d been using both for as long as I could remember.

The old me would eat this girl up without a second thought. I would have left her to her fate in the snow. I was impressed as hell with the way she popped up to her feet, with all types of adorable indignation and sexy pride radiating off of her, even though she was obviously hurting and about to fall over.

I was the old me as recently as this morning.

I was the old me until I looked in the mirror after my shower and finally took the time to examine the still-healing slice across my throat. In a rare moment of clarity, I realized how close I had come to meeting my maker. The wound had been there, healing for months, but today was the day I really saw it and realized I no longer wanted to be the kind of man that deserved to have his throat slit open every time he was distracted and not on the defense. There was no way I would have a halo waiting for me on the other side; I had known that for a long time. It was always bound to be horns and a tail for me because I’d been actively courting my own corner in hell for as long as I could remember. I was the guy that had waterfront property on the lake of fire but I no longer wanted to watch the world burn. Those flames got too close and they were leaving scars on more places than my neck.

I wasn’t a guy that deserved a second chance.

I wasn’t a guy that deserved redemption.

I wasn’t a guy that deserved forgiveness.

I wasn’t a guy that deserved compassion or pity.

I wasn’t a guy that should have been rewarded with a shot to redo and retry everything I had done wrong…but I was a guy that was given that shot. And for whatever reason this morning, while I was looking in the mirror, I told myself it was time to stop squandering it.

I could be the guy that deserved forgiveness. I just had to work at it…harder than anyone else ever had.

Review – One Final Breath by LK Collins

One Final Breath eBook

Review graphic

This story truly made me think and then ask myself… As a mom of two small boys, what would I do if I found myself in Faye’s situation? So suddenly my world is thrown into chaos as the man that is my whole world disappears before my eyes and leaves me and his boys behind. How would I find the strength to move forward?

The prologue to One Final Breath left me in tears and so lost that I pulled those that I loved that most closer. It was a pain that shook me to my core. Time is so fleeting. Circumstances can change without even a warning.

Faye’s story is one of heartbreak and profound loss. Her husband Ben was everything. He was the center of her universe. How do you go on when everything is gone? Faye knew that she had to go forward – she had her son to think about. She had to show him that she could be strong. She doesn’t have time for love or a relationship. She throws heself into her art and strives to make a stable home for Braxley. Then chance happens and she meets a man who makes her feel something more than sadness, more than emptiness. But how can she feel good when her love is gone?

Thane’s story is also of heartbreak and loss. A failed marriage on its last days and a son that he has become the sole caretaker for. He’s leaving behind a sad unfilled life to build something positive for Jack. Thane is hoping that positive also includes a grieving beautiful artist and her precious son who in one short meeting has become Jack’s closest and dearest friend.

Thane is perfect for Faye and watching them grow their relationship and their blended family come together was amazing. He is a balm to her pain, giving her the courage to face losing Ben. He’s a blessing that she never expected to have – and she slowly begins to believe that Ben would want her to have this second chance at love. With Faye, Thane can let go of his past and look past his anger. He can have it all with Faye – friendship, laughs and a deep true love. A solid family and a red hot chemistry! These are so sexy together! Mercy!

This was such a story of love triumphing over loss. This is the story of two types of grief and the process of accepting that life and love may not always go as we have hoped, but if we are fortunate we can find the happiness that we’re always meant to have. This is one beautiful love story that you don’t want to miss!

One life.
One choice.
One love.
Sometimes it’s all we get and one moment could change it all.

I hate the number one—it haunts me; my every waking moment is a constant reminder of what I lost.

One day, I met a guy and I fell in love.
He asked me one question…I said yes.

Our life was perfect…until one day everything changed.

I watched him slowly slip and fade away.
The one person I loved, my best friend, my partner, my everything, was slowly dying right in front of my eyes.
The doctors said he had one year left; he only lasted one month.
As I held on to his hand, he took one final breath and slipped from this world.
Leaving me; one woman, one broken heart, one child to show the world to…all alone.

This is my story about the power of one…

Review – The Storm by R.J. Prescott

The Storm by R.J. Prescott

Oh my gosh. My heart is SO FULL. And yes! Those are tears flowing from my eyes. Do I care? No. I don’t, because, this book, The Storm was just beautiful. So heartwarming and breathtaking. Full of heat and emotion. It was just fantastic and fully deserving of 5 stars.

“True love ain’t the passenger train that pulls up at the station so that you can board when it’s time. It’s the freight train that ploughs into you when you least expect it.”
And that’s what The Storm did. It ploughed into me and stole my heart. I said after reading The Aftermath that I was desperately awaiting Kieran’s story and what a story it is. I’ve been on a one way train to Swoonsville and I never wanted to get off. Kieran was even more than I expected him to be. So fierce and raw. So passionate and loving. Everything about him just meshes together and results in one hell of a delicious, swoony, dirty alpha. Also, he’s HOT. Like WOAH MAMA kinda hot. *fans self*

His connection with Marie sent shivers through me. They are simply stunning. Loved them together. Their sweet and sexy worked for them oh, so well. They were just written to perfection.
What I loved most though? Being back with the boys. Undoubtedly RJ has wrote quite literally one of the best bromances ever. Con & Kieran and their whole friendship, knocked my socks off. The loyalty and devotion they each possessed flew out of them in spades and just solidified my love for the Hurricane and the Storm. The time in the ring nearer to the end… FEELS OVERLOAD!!!

And Tommy! Oh my gosh! I NEED his story. DESPERATELY.

I genuinely loved being back in this world RJ Prescott has written so vividly. My heart and soul are wrapped up in it all. I never want to leave!

Marie Kelly is a survivor who doesn’t know when to quit. Against all odds, she’s living a life she never dreamed she could have. It was enough… until a stubborn boxer makes her want more.

Irish charmer Kieran Doherty has been a fighter at Driscoll’s Gym for most of his life. He’s been content to let his best friend take the spotlight, now it’s his turn to make a name for himself in the world of heavy weight champions. Falling in love is the one thing he vowed never to do, but meeting Marie changed everything.

It’s easy to imagine a happy-ever-after when the sun is shining. But when the storm comes, and all hope seems lost, they both learn that if you want something badly enough, you have to be willing to fight for it.

The Storm is a full length boxing romance with a happily ever after, no cliffhanger and no cheating. Mature content means that it is intended for readers aged 18+.

Review – The Brave Line by Kate Stewart

The Brave Line by Kate Stewart

My heart is pounding.

My palms are sweaty.

My skin is tingling.

My soul is singing.

Everything inside me is on fire.

I am ridiculously happy. Floating high on a mighty blissful cloud of EPIC bookworm feels! I’m struggling to find words. I’m struggling to fully describe how perfect this story is. I don’t know how to really make sense of all my feelings in a way where people will understand. I’ve read all of Kate Stewart’s books and this book is without doubt her best yet. The Brave Line is OUTSTANDING

Everything about The Brave Line will just burn you to the core. It will cover every base, tick every single box and steal every part of your heart. I kid you not, you will FEEL IT ALL. There is no emotion you will not experience. When a book can be heart breaking but heart warming all at the same time you just know you’ve got yourself a winner.

The Brave Line follows Michelle and Rowdy. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing these two are as individuals AND together. Both are incredibly broken, heavily influenced by very different pasts. Yet they are sensational in every way possible.

Michelle was a surprise to me. I never expected a character with such depth. Michelle stole my heart, almost immediately. I didn’t care that she wasn’t always perfect. I didn’t care that she had flaws and she wore them on her sleeve. I simply didn’t care because to me, Kate wrote her in a way that was understandable. We follow Michelle, we learn her past, we learn her pain and it made me FEEL for her, love her.

I’m not sure where to begin with Rowdy. Everything I want to say about him would probably mean I was here until the end of time. I loved him that much. The guy attached himself onto my soul and wouldn’t budge. But then I wouldn’t want him too either. Rowdy is beautifully broken, built from devastation and pain. His hard exterior mixed with his want and need for better made him undeniably perfect. Rowdy rocked my world with his wicked ways and sinful mouth. Imagine my delight when the hot cop was also a dirty one. *praise hands* Even when Rowdy was being a total royal pain in the butt I adored him. Like Michelle I was drawn to him. And will remain drawn to him indefinitely.

Together though, together they consumed me. Together they wrecked me. Together they made me so happy. Nothing came easy for them, yet they worked. This book didn’t need any unnecessary drama from outside sources, Rowdy and Michelle had enough personal roadblocks to deal with and here is where Kate played on the passion and intensity of the characters. The relationship between them is tense and raw while being incredibly hot, but it’s also devastating and I spent so much time WISHING, FEELING, getting wayyy too emotional over the fact that their heartbreak was stopping them from finally being happy.
But by the end, the powerful, heartbreaking journey that I’d been on ended on the most blissful high. I’m not sure whether I devoured this book or it devoured me. My heart and soul have been tugged around, broken and rebuilt impeccably. I am so in love with this book that I don’t want to pick up another. I’ll happily remain in hungover state for a while. And no, I won’t feel bad about it, because The Brave Line is flawless perfection and will undoubtedly be one of my top reads of 2017.

She is a five foot seven long list of things he can’t have.

He is a determined cop, desperate to keep his heart sealed behind his badge.

Michelle is a survivor. With a fresh perspective on life, she trades her tragic past in California for the coastal waters of Charleston. Fueled by a new career as a dispatcher, she’s determined not to let her scars weigh her down. She apologizes for nothing, especially her insatiable need for a certain police officer.

Rowdy is a newly minted sergeant dedicated to his job, but the life of a Charleston police officer has never been more dangerous. With his need to take order of a city spiraling out of control, the last thing he wants is an entanglement with a mouthy dispatcher. But, there’s just one problem. He can’t get enough of her.

As the heat rises between the unlikely pair, so does the tension.

Three months of summer was all it took to shake their foundations, rattle their walls, and bring them crashing down.

It was lust.

It was love.

It was real.

And it would have been perfect . . . if it wasn’t already over.

Note to reader:

This book has several elements and explores topics that some may consider triggers. For mature audiences only. Explicit sex, violence and language.

Review-Dishonorable by Natasha Knight

My rating is 5 out of 5 stars

This was a solid 5 star read that was riveting and captivating. You would’ve had to pry my kindle out of my hands to make me put it down for even a second. Emotions run high in this book, and your emotions will constantly fluctuate with the story.

Raphael is a man you love to hate. He appears ruthless, cold, and calculated, but the good wants to break through so badly. It’s a real struggle between battling his demons and moving on to see that he deserves so much more. You will find yourself hating him one minute and your heart breaking for him the next. I absolutely loved his character.

Sophia was pretty much ripped from her childhood. Just turning 18 and still naive to the world, her grandfather hands her off as a business deal to marry who appears to be a monster. Watching how quickly she matured and came into her own even at the young age of 18 was remarkable. She was such a strong character and I love that in a female lead.

There is never a dull moment in this story. I truly hope to see a story for Damon and Lina. I really fell in love with both of them as well. Such an amazing and sizzling hot read.

Sofia

I knew little of Raphael Amado’s history with my family, but when he turned up on our doorstep demanding restitution, my grandfather quickly conceded. That restitution? Me.

Six months later, on my eighteenth birthday, Raphael came for me. He stole me from my home, taking me to his Tuscan estate, where from the crumbling chapel to the burnt-down vineyard, to the cellar that haunted him, the past stalked him like a shadow. It waited for him, hid behind corners for him and trapped him at every turn.

As much as Raphael’s cruelty terrified me, his darkness seduced me. But in the end, it was his tenderness that devastated me.

Raphael

Sofia came to me like an offering. Like a virgin to be sacrificed at the altar. But truth was, her grandfather betrayed her. I guess we had that in common. He’d screwed me too.

I knew hate. I’d vowed vengeance. This was never supposed to be about anything else. But in the end, her innocence broke me. The very thing I would destroy, destroyed me.

 EXCERPT:
After the evening in Civitella in Val di Chiana, I doubted Sofia would appreciate that we’d be married in the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence, alongside the resting places of Michelangelo, Galileo and Machiavelli, before the eyes of God and a handful of witnesses and fucking throngs of tourists. Tourists were unavoidable this time of year. I could almost tolerate them.

It had taken an exorbitant contribution to book the basilica, but it only concretized my thinking. Money was what everything came down to and that included the church. But I had to admit, this was a magnificent display of devotion and art, even if it was wasted.

I stood at the altar, waiting for my bride. The rope did little to keep curious visitors at bay. Beside me stood Eric as witness and another man arranged by my attorney. I didn’t know who he was. In the front pew sat Sofia’s grandfather, the great Marcus Guardia, his expression unreadable. At his side sat Lina. Smaller than Sofia but not by much. As pretty as her. The old man had kept his end of the bargain after I’d signed the amended contract. Across the aisle sat Maria. I hadn’t invited anyone else to the wedding.

About two dozen strangers, worshippers who most likely were not expecting a wedding, dotted the other pews, giving the appearance of being guests. The priest cleared his throat and made a show of checking his watch.

It took another five minutes before the doors were opened, and someone stepped in to signal the music. The organist began to play the wedding march, and I took a moment to straighten my tie. I’d worn black on black. It was fitting.

Two men secured the large doors of the worshippers’ entrance. From the waning sunlight outside, I could make out the two forms, the white of the dress casting a sort of halo around Sofia. Beside her stood my brother. My fucking brother. Tall and proud in his suit, Sofia’s arm tucked into his. I could almost see him patting it, telling her it would be all right. Reassuring her when he had no business to.

I didn’t know when she’d asked him to walk her down the aisle. I understood she didn’t want her grandfather. That made perfect sense. But this? It pissed me off, actually.

The organist started the march again, and they took their first steps. Once they stepped fully into the church, I could make out their faces. My brother, for all his support of a few nights ago, now condemned me with his gaze. I wondered how much he knew. How much she’d told him.

Sofia gazed at the floor. Her veil shielded her from me until she was about a third of the way down the aisle. That was when she hesitated. Damon paused too, then whispered something to her. She seemed to take a full minute to compose herself, and before my very eyes, she straightened, standing taller, her spine straighter. She looked directly at me.

I met her gaze, felt the unnatural chill inside her eyes, accepted the accusations she threw like grenades. But she had never looked more beautiful to me than in that moment.

The dress fit as if it were made for her, hugging her delicate curves, the antique veil with yellowing edges not quite concealing her but adding an almost ethereal air to her, to her beauty. Her hair had been intricately braided, only a few soft strands falling around her face, over her shoulder, and her golden eyes shone as if covered over by a layer of ice crystals.

She never shifted her gaze. Never faltered again as Damon walked her toward me. As he faced her, the look they exchanged made me fist my hands at my sides. It wasn’t attraction or affection, not more than that of friendship, but it seemed as though a bond had been formed between them, and I knew in the way he looked at me, the way he looked at her, that he knew what had happened between us. What would happen still.

I hated him for it in that moment. I hated him for having something of her that I did not. That I never would.

My brother lifted her veil and gave her a gentle smile, a kiss on the cheek. A whispered word. I’d fucking kill him for it.

He then turned her to me.

Tears didn’t shine in her eyes. Her lip didn’t tremble. When she looked up at me, all I saw was hate. A hate that came from betrayal. From a budding trust destroyed.

And in spite of it, or perhaps because of it, she took my breath away.

I turned her toward the altar and stood quietly by her side, listening to her breathe, listening to the priest but not hearing his words. Hearing her quiet “I do.” Speaking my own. Catching the slight tremble of her hand as she handed her bouquet of blackest lilies—appropriate if not dramatic—to my brother, who remained by her side. She then faced me again, and I took her hand. From my pocket I retrieved her wedding band. A ring of thorns made of iron, black and rounded to slide onto her finger, jagged to remind her of her place.

She looked down at it once it was fully seated on her delicate finger, and I wondered what thoughts circled her mind.

The priest cleared his throat, and I wanted to slap him. To tell him to give her time. To let us be.

Sofia met my gaze. I handed her my ring. She took it, and I held out my left hand. As she slid the serrated ring onto my finger, she gasped, hesitating at the sudden sight of blood, faltering.

Her mouth fell open, her eyes wide when she met mine.

“Do it,” I said.

She shifted her gaze back to my hand and dragged the spiked band upward, her eyes now fixated on the lines of red that appeared along my finger. The first dark droplet fell, soiling the snow-white of her dress, and when she pulled her stained fingers away, she looked up at me again, the ice in her eyes different, less cold. Confused now. Lost.

Lost again.

I gripped the back of her neck and forced her attention back to the priest who had gone a little pale at the blood.

“Finish it,” I spat.

He met my gaze, swallowed, fumbled with his Bible—fucking idiot—and then pronounced us husband and wife.

I kissed my bride with a hunger that would devour her. A warning to her. A promise of what would come.

Review – Her Best Friend’s Dad by Penny Wylder

Her Best Friend's Dad

Review graphic

I was so looking forward to this story! Penny Wylder is certainly becoming the master of the forbidden and taboo… and I’m loving everything that she’s written. This is her first full length novel, and it did not disappoint. It was steamy, a lot dirty and just an all around fun read!

Lia is a starving artist and after losing her studio has to come home to live with her beloved father and wicked stepmother. Her saving grace is her very best friend Tasha. She’s her light in the darkness but then there’s Tasha’s father. The delicious and totally forbidden Beck Huntsworth. He is everything that Lia wants and simply cannot have. She’s always crushed on her best friend’s dad and now that school girl crush has become a grown woman’s desire. Still, Lia made a promise to her best friend to stay away from Beck… and that promise is getting harder and harder to keep.

Beck Huntsworth has watched Lia grow up to become a beautiful young woman. Smart, talented and in need of someone to love her and care for her. He knows that it’s wrong to want her. After all this is his daughter’s best friend! Totally forbidden but a temptation he cannot stay away from. He wants her, HAS to have her no matter the consequences.

When Lia is given the opportunity to work for Beck in his company, can they resist temptation and their growing feelings?

The attraction between Lia and Beck is so steamy! Beck is one sexy silver fox with such dedication to his daughter. But Lia calls to him in a way that he never dreamt possible. Lia may be young – maybe TOO young for Beck – but she knows that she could never have what she has with Beck with anyone else. I admired her love and devotion to Tasha. For so long they only had each other, but love cannot be stopped. Lia and Beck want each other and that want could leave a lot of people hurt.

This was a great afternoon read! The story is wonderfully paced with juicy love scenes with two strong willed and determined characters. There were moments of heartfelt angst and even some belly laughs! The secondary charaters made this book even more fun to read! Penny has created a truly fantastic book!

5 Forbidden Love Stars!

5-kisses

I’m falling for my best friend’s dad.

Moving back home was never my plan. Except here I am, struggling under my evil step-mom’s crushing thumb while I look for work. I feel just like Cinderella, but I never expected my best friend’s DAD to be my prince.
He’s just as hot now as he was when I was a teen; maybe hotter. He’s also rich and powerful, and when he offers me a job working under him at his company… I can’t say no. I don’t WANT to say no.
All our flirting is bad enough–we can’t get caught, my best friend would hate me–but then we go too far.
Hiding our relationship was one thing…
How the hell do I hide a baby?

Penny Wylder’s first full length novel! It’s all the fun and filth you expect, just a lot more of it! This story has a romantic core and a happily ever after that will make you melt.

beautiful sexy couple. gorgeous blond woman and handsome man

excerpt

It isn’t proper for me to want my daughter’s best friend, a woman I’ve watched grow into an astonishing beauty. There is just something magic about Lia, something that makes my whole body throb with the need to get closer. She could easily become addictive. I know I should resist any temptation affecting me this strongly, but then I had to go and hire her.

What the fuck was I thinking? I am going to lose my mind, or at least my promise to myself to never sleep with an employee. Maybe that’s why the second thing I did after Lia left was call Jean last night. If Lia is my employee, I can do my damnedest to keep my rule. It would give me a buffer against the feelings that are already going well beyond lust and into a dangerous territory from just one encounter. Lia makes me hungry. It is more than lust; it is the hunger to provide for her, not in a paternal way, but to see that all her dreams are made reality. I know that Jean is not the nicest to her and never has been, and if it wouldn’t make things worse, I would throw my weight around as Jean’s boss to fix that. Jean is a great member of the R&D team, but not so much that I would be sad to see her go if it meant making Lia happy. It’s an employer’s market right now with more applicants than jobs. She would be easily replaced.

It is a dangerous move, I know, to bring Lia in as my secretary. I know she is the forbidden fruit, and that maybe this is my mid-life crisis starting to hit me, but I want her. “I need her,” I tell my reflection. “I have to have—”

“Mr. Huntsworth, your new office assistant has finished with human resources.” My chief of security sounds amused as his voice plays from the speaker on my desk.

She’s on her way up. The thought repeats itself in time with the aching in my cock.

“You wanted me to call you when she was being shown her way to the executive office floor.” The line goes silent. My fingernail catches on the red disc of a call button beside the vanity in my bathroom. I press it, wait for Brian to answer, and then thank him for the notice. There’s no time for me to get my libido in check, so the best I can do is sit down at my desk to hide the reaction Lia evokes from me.

I wait at my desk—one minute becomes two, and then it’s soon five minutes before I hear muffled voices outside of the security clearance down the hall. I try to focus on the paperwork in front of me. The chirp of a badge being swiped lights up a blue LED on the panel beside my phone, giving me a warning that someone will be entering. Only a handful of people have clearance to get in here, and most of those require the security guard in the hall or someone inside to buzz them in. I look up.

Lia stands before me, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. “Hi.” Her voice trembles before she steels herself and repeats it more surely. “Do I call you Mr. Huntsworth?” She has her head tilted down, and she looks up at me through the sweeping edge of her bangs. Her lips part, and the tip of her tongue glosses over them. She’s nervous, and I selfishly hope it’s because of me.

“Beck is fine unless I happen to be in a meeting. ‘Sir’ works too,” I tease.
Lia blushes before rolling her eyes. She even does that artfully. “Thank you for the job,
Beck.”

The way she says my name makes my cock throb. “I should be thanking you for accepting it, Lia.” I stand and offer her my hand. Her fingers are cool as they slip into my palm, and the shake we share is anything but innocent despite the chaste touch. I want her grip to be lower and firmer, and with the quick dropping of her eyes, I sense that her thoughts are moving in the same direction.
