When I first saw that L.P. Dover was shaking things up with a romantic suspense or dark romance, I could not help but get excited! I love dark reads as much as I adore swoon-filled stories. Trigger is the latest sensation by L.P. Dover, a delicious dive into danger and darkness, and MY NEW FAVORITE BOOK BY THIS AUTHOR!

Trigger, like its name, was FAST AND FURIOUS. This riveting romance was a rush, a raging inferno of intensity where I could not turn the pages fast enough. Energy flowed through me like electricity where I could not help but be engaged. The powerful and perilous plot kept me highly tuned and trembling with anticipation. I WAS THOROUGHLY EXCITED, ENGAGED, AND ELECTRIFIED!

Preston Hale is gorgeous, muscular, tall, dark haired and grey-eyed…and also a killer. 

“Killing was an addiction I couldn’t let go.”

Known as Trigger, this modern day vigilante rids the streets of the most sinister criminals. This Dark Knight is badass and beautiful, a mix of dark and light who has been to hell and back, surfacing stronger than ever.

Killing has become his addiction…his high…his drug.

Until his high before he started killing, Emily ‘Emma’ Turner came back into his life. The beautiful blonde and blue-eyed woman was Preston’s best friend in college, back when life was much simpler…back when he was more light than dark.

I LOVED Preston, this melt-worthy man of many layers who walks on the edge of darkness but whose heart is pure gold. Preston protects those he loves and risks everything to be their dark hero. Oh what a hero he is who became my hero in this thrilling tale too!!!

Trigger is one deliciously dark and dangerous read, a drug that you need to devour! Trigger ignites with intensity in a tale that wrapped me in a blanket of darkness while, at the same time, slowly showered me with light. This pulse-pounding page-turner kept me on edge, emotions entangled as my heart raced out of my chest. I FELT THIS HIGH, this delicious drug of a story, where I was addicted and aching for more. I still need MORE.

I’m no longer the Preston Hale everyone knew. I left that life and the people in it a long time ago the second I made my first kill. I wasn’t going to give in, but when I heard the screams there was no going back.

When I got downstairs to the dining room, Glenn and Wade were already there, speaking to each other in hushed tones by the large window. There were shiny plates on the table, with all sorts of silverware around them. Start from the outside and work your way in, was what I was told when it came to using the various forks and spoons. Give me just one of each and I’d be happy.

It wasn’t long before Glenn noticed me at the door and the conversation ceased. “Emma, you look lovely tonight,” he announced.

I smiled. “Thank you.”

He beckoned me over to the table and Wade held out a seat for me. I sat down and he took the one on the right, while Glenn sat on my left at the head of the table. There was only one other place setting and it was across from me.

“Wine?” Glenn asked, holding up the bottle.

I nodded. “Sure.”

He poured me a glass and I took a sip. It tasted like heaven, all fruity and crisp. It was so good I had to take another sip, and another, while we waited on the special guest. Not even a minute later, the dining room door opened and a man walked in. Only, he wasn’t just anyone.

It’d been eight years and he’d surely changed, but there was no mistaking those gray eyes. His hair was the same light brown, and mussed up like all the guys did their hair these days. However, his body looked totally different. His cream colored, long-sleeve sweater hugged a set of muscular arms, and his face was more rugged, covered in a five o’clock shadow.

I almost choked on my wine. “Oh my God.” Is it really him?

“Emma, are you okay?” Wade asked, his voice low.

“Yeah,” I whispered. “I’m fine.”

I waited for Preston to look at the table, and when his gaze finally caught mine, he paused for a slight second. In his face, I could see the friend I lost so long ago, but it vanished quickly.

Glenn and Wade both stood when Preston approached, and I shot up out of my seat, bumping the table with my jerky movements. Glenn grinned at me and then at Preston. “Preston Hale, I’d like you to meet Emma Turner. She’s my assistant. Emma, this is Preston Hale, a close family friend. His father is one of my dearest friends.”

 Preston held out his hand and looked at me as if he’d never laid eyes on me before. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Was he being serious? I shook his hand and made sure to put a little extra squeeze in there for good measure. “Meet me? Surely, you remember who I am.”

Glenn’s eyes went wide. “Wait. You two already know each other?”

I nodded. “From college.” I was about to add before he up and left without a trace, but thought better of it.

Glenn chuckled and smacked a hand on Preston’s shoulder. “Well, isn’t this a small world? You’ll have to tell me some stories on this one.” He nodded my way.

Preston’s jaw clenched. “Can’t. Don’t remember her.”

My mouth dropped open; it was like being punched in the gut and slapped in the face, all at the same time. No words would come out, so I sat there with a lump in my throat. In college, he’d been a close friend. I sang with him in his band, Silent Break. We connected on stage in a way I’d never felt with anyone. I cared about him, and had even been ready to take the next step in our relationship right before he up and disappeared. I never got to tell him how I felt. Now he looked at me as if I was a stranger.

The room fell silent. I wanted to say something, but I bit my tongue. It was going to be the longest dinner of my life.

Oh what a sweet read this was!

Rebecca Moore had sacrificed so much in her life to see to her sister Celeste’s happiness after the loss of their mother when she was sixteen and Celeste a mire ten years old. She took on the responsbility of mother, care giver, and head of household when their irresponsible father tended to shy away from his duty to pay the bills and keep a roof over their heads. Those years shaped and solidified Rebecca’s opinion of what she wanted in life and in a man – stability, strength, steadiness. Spencer Bassett was no where near what she wanted in a man. He played video games for a living, was the carefree playboy and was six years younger than she was. No way could be have him… but boy, did she want him.

I was stunned from the first page. Vi and Corbin had me…. there was no way I couldn’t see this through to the end. I never saw this coming, and I am still so speechless.

This love story… this insta-love between one incredibly alpha Army specialist and one very shy high school senior. This was nothing like I expected. It was so much more. It was true love at first sight that I felt. It was red hot chemistry. The devil and his beautiful angel. Corbin was a young man with a tough past. A trouble maker, a criminal… someone with dark desires. Vi was an innocent girl who only found peace when she was rock climbing. But she never felt anything like the desire she felt the moment she laid eyes on Corbin. He wanted to protect her. Possess her… love her. She wanted to belong to him and only him. I was consumed by their story, and I freely admit I have begged Kayla to please, please, PLEASE HURRY UP with Truth Revealed. Their story is so far from over.

Hard Boss by Luke Steel

Okay! LISTEN UP! First of all I must discuss this cover! Because OMG….THIS FREAKING COVER….

I mean, HOLY HOT ABS! THOSE HANDS! THAT WATCH! *shivers* If that doesn’t draw you to think book then, well, I don’t know what will? Oh… wait, maybe I do. 

Yep here’s another reason….

THIS BOOK IS EFFIN’ FANTASTIC! 

Hard Boss is a sexy, quick, dirty read that just took my breath away. Now, I’m not usually one for posting five star reviews on ‘shorter’ books. Why? I like my books with more meat in them, but this? 

Well this had meat, it had grit, it had a rawness, it had intensity, it had heart and it well and truly worked it’s way into mine. Luke Steel, where have you been? Hard Boss is an fantastic debut! 

From start to finish I swooned over Dominic and I must admit I got really hot for Dominic. I ADORED Lucy! She too was crazy hot. If high-fiving a character was a possibility, I’d high-five her! From their initial meet to their end they sizzled and popped with an intense, fiery connection. And despite the length of Hard Boss I never once felt rushed or disconnected, from the story or them. And had it been longer, I’d have loved it even more! 

Hard Boss is a dirty, delicious read. It’s HOT **fans self** and heartwarming. It’s passion and love. It’s everything, wrapped up in a mouth watering package. I loved it. Luke Steel…WRITE MORE. I NEED MORE!

I’m as hard as they come. No one can unravel me. And then SHE came along…

Lucy was supposed to be like every other assistant out there—quiet, skilled at predicting my needs, and definitely not a walking distraction. How can she make it so hard to focus on my work? I hate it.

And I hate how much I want her.

Worse, no matter how I try to scare her off with my crisp attitude, she stands up to me. Her backbone is turning me on as much as catching her bending over the desk, skirt stretched over her thighs.

Talk Dirty to Me by Lulu Wright

Talk Dirty To Me, is a sinful, sexy and intense journey through past, present and future. Lulu Wright penned this novel with such truth and raw power that just fights to encase the reader. It took me longer than I’d have liked to finish this book, unfortunately life got in the way and delayed my progress, despite that though I was DESPERATE to get back into Rose and Mark’s world. To revel in the oozing sexual tension that just BURNS throughout this whole story.

In all honesty, I didn’t fully connect to Rose straight away, something about her just didn’t click, I can’t say what but it was there. But as the story progressed, Lulu did an amazing job at making Rose one kick ass, sassy, sexy character. Her snark and wit were hilarious and on multiple occasions I wanted to high five her for her one liners.

Being a Brit, I struggle with fully understanding Baseball, but if Mark Carrington is out there and real and offering baseball lessons then SIGN ME UP! This extraordinary man was written to perfection. From the first meeting, sparks started flying FOR ME, never mind between the characters. Mark was alpha, bad-boy, fit sportsman, all the things that tick all my boxes. As the story want on Mark turned out to be everything and more, underneath all that ruggedness was a sensational swoon worthy man that gave me butterflies.

What really stands out during Talk Dirty To Me, as I’ve mentioned was the undeniable connection Mark and Rose have, it’s believable and easy to follow. Despite the first half of the book sizzling with angsty sexual tension that connection only builds and builds. The added sports background, rock/alt music, and second chance romance aspects made this a book I couldn’t get enough of.

Talk Dirty to me was flawless, exciting, enjoyable and I fell in love with it all!

Mark Carrington already broke my heart once.

This sexy, temperamental playboy might dominate the major leagues, but there’s no way in hell I’m letting him play ball with my heart again.

Until I find myself facing him down every morning on our new radio show, and his undeniable hotness starts to break down my resistance–and almost erase all the memories of how he dumped me back in high school.

I ate up this captivating and combustible story like chocolate cake. Oh was The Room Mate rich in EVERYTHING DELICIOUS!

I fell in INSTA-LOVE with The Room Mate, a friends-to-lovers romance with a potent potion of humor, heat, and heart. It didn’t take long for my body to blaze in burning heat as I alternated lighting up with lust and laughter like fire. The Room Mate was a forceful flame, the fire that ignited and intoxicated every part of me. This inferno, The Room Mate, smoldered from sex to soul. I was caught and claimed. I was smitten and seduced. I WAS ALL IN.

Cannon Roth…JUST WOW!!! That name alone?!? HOLY HOT!!! Add the hot name Cannon to the doctor profession and Doctor Roth is just as amazing! OH YES!!! This Cannon is sex-on-a-stick smoldering with his dark ‘bed head’ hair, piercing green eyes, an over 6’3” tall and muscular ‘Roman Statue’ body, deliciously dirty mouth, and sweetness in spades. Hot Cannon name + doctor + perfect looks + perfect personality = PURE PERFECTION! I LOVED THIS CANNON-BALL WHO IS MINE…MINE…MINE…MINE!!!

A difficult living situation has Cannon needing a place to say so when his sister suggests her best friend, Paige, who also happens to be Cannon’s childhood crush, he jumps on the opportunity and maybe it will end with him jumping her. From longtime friends to room-mates, Cannon is challenged to stay in the friend zone with the gorgeous, blonde, blue-eyed, and curvy Paige, his long-time friend, sister’s best friend, girl of his teenage fantasies, and now woman of his dreams.

The mouth on this Adonis of a man is a cannon indeed, so deliciously dirty and decadent. Cannon is the fire to Paige’s ice, and, for once, this cool and collected gal wouldn’t mind being reckless…getting burned. Burn is what I did…with every penetrating and passionate page.

After a string of psycho gals who fall in love after Cannon’s cannon fires into them, this gorgeous guy is convinced that he is the magic machine that make all women fall in love with the Cannon-ball. Paige doesn’t buy the spin he’s selling, but knows the anaconda he’s rockin’ is the real deal. She challenges Cannon to test out his tempting theory on her plus a few bites and blazes to the lady bits won’t hurt either.

GAME. ON. Cannon is ready to fulfill his teenage fantasy who has suddenly come to life. Cannon was my fantasy come to life.

Oh how Cannon and Paige’s friendship is full of sparks that are ready to ignite into a firestorm. Their chemistry sizzled and was even more powerful since it’s mixed with friendship…spice and nice. Passion poured from pages to me, as I BURNED FOR THIS BOOK!

“When I f**k you with my tongue, there will be no holding back from either of us.”

The doctor is in…indeed! I smoldered, those involuntary thigh clenches in full swing! Dr. McDreamy delivers the goods…one big package that he works like a pro to deliver the big O. The Room Mate turned me into a minx!

“I’ve wanted you for ten years, Paige.”

Oh how this game was on fire! Sparks sprinkled with swoon and oh did I SWOON from Cannon’s sweet words!!!

“I love you, princess. Always have. Always will.”

I melted into a pool of goo all over the pages. Paige can’t let Cannon get closer because she can’t be responsible for ruining the doctor-in-training’s residency…his career…his life.

“He was the realest, best, brightest thing in my world, and I hated that we would never be more.”

Paige won’t be the one to hold the dreamy doctor-in-residency back from his dream though what she doesn’t realize is that she is Cannon’s dream.

Oh did Dr. McDreamy’s words of sweetness and swoon shot stars in my eyes and butterflies in my belly. This man is the ultimate hero and one of my all-time favorites to blaze books. I left this story on a high, as words of smolder and swoon shot through me like a cannon, a high I did not want to leave.
