Review – Dark Corners by A.M. Madden

Dark Corners by A.M. Madden is a deeply intense, sexy and suspenseful story. From the beginning of Dark Corners A.M. took me on a twisty adventure through heartache, pain, love and lust.

Dark Corners is a perfect addition to the Everyday Heroes series. David and Maygen’s story was incredible. My love and connection to the characters was instant. From the off A.M weaves a story with so much fire. Fire that starts as a bright spark, that begins to sizzle more fiercely before blooming into huge flames, hot to the touch.

David is wicked! I assure you that you will LOVE THIS MAN! He’s raw, possessive, dominant, strong, sex and pure sin. He’s alpha male personified.

Maygen exceeded my expectations, she was fun, strong, sassy and down to earth despite seeming to initially be a perfect princess!

Put together, David and Maygen are HOT. In every aspect. They have an undeniable connection. I lived and breathed every feeling they both felt. My heart ached for David, his past and his expectations on his future, it ached for Maygen and her struggles to live as she wanted. In finding each other they found themselves more and more and I FELT THAT.

However a lurking presence filled me as it did the book. A.M kept me guessing all the time, throwing out twists and turns to push me off course. I never expected, what actually happened was going to happen, the shocking intense way the story plays out is utterly captivating. I don’t think I could read fast enough.

Although fast paced, Dark Corners never felt rushed. Everything was played out to perfection. A.M’s writing is addictive, her story perfectly balanced. Dark Corners is now my favourite of the whole Everyday Heroes series and my FAVE book of A.M. Madden’s!! (Sorry Jack)!

Review – Trinity’s Trust by C.A. Harms

4.5 captivating stars!

If you know me, you’ll know that The Sawyer Brothers series is one of my faves. CA Harms writes hot, sexy, country men REALLY FREAKING WELL. Jackson has held my heart for a long time but DAMN! Chase Douglas gave him some HUGE competition. Chase hot-alpha-cop Douglas sent me crazy, with love and lust. He was PERFECT for Trinity.

Trinity is a character I’ve loved from the first time I met her. I am so happy with how CA wrote her book and the happy ending she gave Trin.

The best part about this book? Chase’s Nana! What a woman she is! I laughed out loud way to many times while reading. The woman’s a hoot!

Trinity’s Trust, is a sexy, fast paced romance. It’s captivating and RIDICULOUSLY HOT balanced perfectly with touching moments of heartache and pain, while full of love. Can someone say SWOON? Because that’s what you’ll do. MANY TIMES! Annnnnd it has a KILLER epilogue that fans of the series will ADORE!

Review – Black and White Flowers by Rachel Robinson

Black and White Flowers has well and truly owned me in the 24 hours it’s taken me to read it. It’s stole my heart, it’s crushed my soul, blown my mind and left me deliriously happy. I cannot even begin to describe the amount of emotions this book DRAGGED me through, if it exists, I FELT IT.

Everything from the heart breaking beginning of Carina, to the heat inducing meeting with Smith, to the complete OBLITERATION of ME was written with such beauty and precision.

I absolutely adored how this book played out, the angst lover in me is on cloud nine right now because holy heck did this book pull me in ALL directions. Carina and Smith are so perfect for one another, they know it, we as the reader know it, side characters know it but it’s never that simple. Love and honor play HUGE parts in this book. They are also huge enemies. I found myself at different points completely swooning over Smith and then getting majorly upset over Smith. But at the end, I LOVE him. He’s a stunning individual, his love and affection roots deep, his honor even deeper.. He’s sex and sin. Utterly gorgeous and dangerous to the heart.

When I read a book, character development is a big thing for me. I like to travel a journey with the characters I’m reading about, I like to see them grow and come out the end new and improved, better. The way Rachel wrote Carina in this book was FANTASTIC! Honestly, I LOVED watching her character grow, build in strength and power. Experience love instead of all the hate and pain. I loved that she was a writer and how the story twisted into her own was insanely clever.

At times this book was not easy to read, it was painful, but blissfully breathtaking. Sounds strange I know, like I say, it’s the angst. The deep rooting connection I felt to these characters was my downfall because I was all in, like head over heels in love with everything about them. So reading parts of this story was hard. But with the pain comes the pleasure and this book is a pleasure dome of words and feelings all wrapped up in a perfectly poignant package.

Rachel Robinson has penned a flawless story of pain and heartache, damaged pasts and uncertain futures mixed with soul searing heat, all consuming love and breathtaking beauty. Black and White Flowers is a stunning novel worth an infinite amount of stars.

Review – LUCAS by Jay McLean

There aren’t enough words to describe how I feel right now. Not enough emotive descriptions that can fully sum up the other worldly goodness of the intense, spectacular, reading experience I just had.

Jay McLean’s books, to me, are known as McLean Masterpieces. Here’s why…

Upon picking up a McLean book, you begin a journey. A journey that steals your heart, breath, soul and mind. A journey that catapults you into another world, where you FEEL and LOVE and EXPERIENCE. Each and every McLean Masterpiece is breathtakingly beautiful. They are stories that are so enjoyable, even when your heart is being BLOWN TO PIECES. YA romance isn’t my first choice to read. But Jay McLean makes me forget that I’m reading YA, she makes me forget EVERY SINGLE thing, but the story I have in front of me. Jay McLean is the YA QUEEN. I seriously adore her, and the words that make up all her truly magnificent masterpieces.

So LUCAS is the book that has just OWNED ME for the time it took to read. I actually felt sick at the thought of having to put it down (adulting sucks). I was CONSUMED by this book, thoroughly captivated as I read the story of Lucas and Lane. Clark and Lois. Superman and his Kryptonite. Who by the way are two of the most connected, passionate characters I’ve ever read.

LUCAS is a story that made me FEEL EVERY EMOTION at 13% it was a story that I knew I loved. Those initial feels had started to build. At 21% those initial feels EXPLODED into butterflies that wreaked a beautiful havoc on my whole body. Being lost in the Preston world was the best thing ever, they are ridiculously charming, a family I’d be happy to be apart of.

While reading I knew that something was going to happen, I knew that it wouldn’t be all blissful beauty and adoration at watching two best friends fall in love, which was absolutely AMAZING! The way Jay builds the relationship between Lane and Lucas is just IT. There are no real words for me to describe them to truly do them justice. They are just IT..

By 48% Jay had begun to squeeze my heart and burn my soul. Everything was too much but in the same way no where near enough. Everything hurt, but it was that glorious hurt, you know?

By 70% LUCAS had already blasted its way into my top reads of 2016. I knew it would be yet another McLean Masterpiece that settled itself into my heart and never budged. It was everything but still, there was that little niggle that everything was going to well, too perfect, I was too happy.

And at 78% Jay RIPPED THE WORLD from beneath my feet. In eight seconds, I was thrown into heartbreaking devastation, chaos and pain and damn Jay if she didn’t make me feel every damn painful missile she fired. Damn Jay for writing something so powerful, so intense, so raw, so beautiful. Damn Jay for ripping out my heart, grinding it to dust before scooping it all up and delicately putting it back together. Damn Jay for making me smile through big ugly tears. Damn Jay for writing a book that stole my breath and didn’t give it back until the very end where I released a sigh of undeniable happiness and love.

Damn Jay for it ALL.

LUCAS is truly breathtaking. I could literally chat for hours about how this book made me feel WAY TOO MUCH. I could talk about Lane and Lucas until my jaw ached and the other person got bored. I could live in this book and be blissfully happy. I could go on and on and tell you that you’ll love this book and such but I won’t. I’ll leave my review here, hope that some people read it and think “THAT is what I want to experience while reading a book” because like I said Lucas was a reading experience, one I’d happily go back to the beginning of and start all over again.

Unfortunately there are only 5 stars available to add to my review. LUCAS is actually worth eleventy three, hundred thousand!

Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved a good fairy tale where I could pretend to be a princess and marvel in magic. Today my favorite fairy tales are romance books, love stories with a hard-fought happily ever after. I live and feel fantasies through love stories like Stroked Hard by Meghan Quinn. Enchanting and Entertaining, Stroked Hard is a sports romance with a feel-good fairy tale twist that radiates the perfect balance of heat, humor, and heart.

I FELL IN INSTA-LOVE WITH EVERYTHING STROKED HARD!!! Stroked Hard cast a spell on me from the first page, seducing every ounce of me. I was utterly addicted as this story swiftly satisfied my ache to laugh, and oh did I howl with laughter, while also lighting me up with lust from head to toe. I was caught like a fish in the water as this story claimed every part of me. I WAS ALL IN!!!

After meeting the all-star Olympic diver, Hollis Knightly, in Stroked, I suspected his story would be my favorite of this series…and oh did Hollis hook me HARD! Hollis Knightly is equal parts HOT and hilarious. I fell in love with him from the very beginning, a love as strong as his chiseled abs. Oh how the incredible Hollis puts most book boyfriends to shame!

A is for alpha as Hollis is the ultimate alpha and also abs because of the glorious six-pack Hollis rocks that is so hard and perfect
B is for blue eyes as deep as the ocean that penetrate passion and the big package under Hollis’ speedo
C is for confident and cocky attitude that is extra hot
D is for devoted as Hollis is a rare, one-gal man, a boyfriend not bed hopper
E is for entertaining and endearing as you can’t help but be amused and addicted to Hollis
F is for both flirting and f**king where Hollis is also a gold medal expert
G is for gallant because Hollis is brave with his constant pursuing of a gal until she can’t resist him
H is for huge heart as Hollis’ has a heart of gold; hot as Hollis is panty-melting hot with his perfect fauxhawk, tall and muscular body; and hilarious as in over-the-top hilarious

Hollis is a man of so many talents that I could list them all to Z and beyond, but I’ll sum it up and say he is PURE PERFECTION and one of my ultimate alphas. For this alpha, it was an instant attraction when he laid eyes on the beautiful makeup artist, Melony, first seen in Stroked.

“Ah, so you know who I am. I knew you did from the way you tried to see through my shirt. Don’t worry, sweetheart, the abs everyone talks about are real.”

With her light brown hair, green eyes, lush lips, and perfect body, Hollis wants a taste of this pretty lady who won’t give him the time of day though he won’t stop trying to woo Melony with a lethal dose of heat and humor.

“I’m going to take that as a no.”
“Take that as a go to hell.”
“That’s a little hostile for someone who was just staring at my crotch for ten minutes.”
“I was not staring at your crotch.”
“Hey, it’s okay. No need to be embarrassed. I have the kind of crotch worth staring at. Just try to keep it under five minutes next time. It gets a little awkward if your staring is any longer than that.”

I love a man who makes me laugh and Hollis’ lines made me howl with laughter! I giggled so hard that my gut ached. Meghan Quinn’s comedy is PURE GENIUS!!!

My body that hurt from laughing was soon ignited with lust as Hollis is one delicious dirty-talker. HOLY HOT!!!

“Sooner or later, I will be f**ing you against a wall, fingering you under the dinner table, and eating that sweet pussy of yours on the kitchen counter. Mark my f**ing words, Melony, I am going to woo you so hard, you won’t know what hit you.”

Melony is having a hard time fighting the chemistry she and Hollis have, a spark that ignites whenever he is near her, so hot it nearly burns. The sexual tension is so thick it could be cut with a knife…so powerful and passionate.

“…He looks at me. No, he’s not looking. He’s devouring me with a passion-filled gaze I’ve never seen on a man before. It’s like he’s on fire…for me.”

The passion bleeds through the pages, penetrating through me. I’M IN SO MUCH LOVE!!!

Hollis’ story made me swoon where I became breathless as I bathed in the butterflies fluttering in me. My heart was his!!! Hollis has a huge heart and oh did he hijack my heart, owning all of my laughs and love, owning ALL OF ME. Oh is Hollis Knightly a knight-in-shining armor, a panty-melting Prince Charming, with charm and sentiment in spades.

Stroked Hard by Meghan Quinn was one sweet surprise of a story that hugged my heart and stroked my soul where I swooned in spades. Oh did my soul soar to the stars! Stroked Hard struck me hard and fast with ALL THE FEELS. I LOVED THIS STORY SOOOO MUCH! Stroked Hard brought my favorite Cinderella fairy tale to life and I loved living through this dreamy delight of a romantic read full of heat, humor, and heart!

Intoxicating and incredible, Stroked Hard is a phenomenal page-turner that penetrated me from beginning to end. I smiled, smoldered, shed tears, snickered, and swooned through Stroked Hard. Meghan Quinn’s books become more brilliant with each one, and this is her BEST BOOK YET!!!Filled with feels, anchored in angst and amusement, and laced with love, Stroked Hard BLEW AWAY!

I’m still swimming in swoon, stroked hard, in a fairy tale with a powerful prince and princess who rendered me utterly spellbound. Oh how I did not want this spellbinding and swoon-filled story to end. Stroked Hard is my beloved Cinderella but much better, a fairy tale that’s still hijacking my heart and dancing in my dreams.

Growing up in the D.C. suburbs of Virginia, I could not help but live and breathe politics—whether I wanted to or not. Only a couple of presidents have made me feel good about America, both from opposing parties, as party has never played a big part for me compared to issues. So many candidates feed us broken promises and are all ‘smoke and mirrors.’ Somehow in the past several years, I lost faith in politics and the presidency…until I met Mr. President, a book by Katy Evans that blew me and my anti-political mind away.

I ditched my dislike for politics, opening my heart and mind fully, as I offered all of myself to Mr. President. I gave my heart and soul to this story—as if I had a choice—for it to be stolen as it sank into a world of politics, parading through everything and everywhere DC. Katy Evans wrote a mind-blowing and magical masterpiece in Mr. President, a politically-powered romance that put me on the campaign trail where I fell in love with everything politics.

From the very first page, Mr. President enraptured me as I quickly became entangled in this engaging and electric story. Politics…power…potential love?!? I was ALL IN!!! I wanted to wait…taking my time to soak up every powerful and poignant word of Mr. President. I wanted to rush…tearing through these pages like the adrenaline from this thrilling tale coursed through me. I climbed Mr. President like Mount Everest with a deep hunger, a desire so high that I did not want to come up for air. Mr. President quickly became my addiction. My ache. My adrenaline. MY ALL.

My emotions were amplified—a fusion of hope, heartbreak, and happiness—as hope was on the highest alert. Mr. President rapidly caught fire, heating me up, sending an unexpected rush as this story bled into me. While Matt was visiting, Charlotte, daughter of Senator Wells, even jokingly stated she would help the President’s son with his campaign if Matt ever ran for office. Flash forward over ten years later and Charlotte realizes her prediction may just be on its and his way to a presidency.

His dirty talk sparks heat that lights up the pages, the hot and heated banter between Charlotte and Matt igniting into more.

“I made your nipples hard that day at the campaign kick-off too.”

“Oh wow. Well my nipples weren’t the only things getting hard that day, I’d say.”

“You don’t know the half of it.”

A current crashes through the air, circling them like a cloud of dust, an attraction that’s becoming too powerful to ignore. An attraction deeper than looks; one that delves straight to the soul.

“Matt…looks at me. Just looks at me. So intently and like he can see everything that I am, have ever been, and ever will be.”

Their friendship is raw and real, a friendship catching fire, one where hopefully they won’t get burned. I want this couple, connected by fate, to cross that friendship line. They are perfect together with similar backgrounds and opportunists wanting to make America greater.

I felt that intense kiss surge from the story straight to me. Oh my wow! Charlotte has no choice to surrender to this passion that permeates between Matt and her, pouring off the pages where I felt this passion too.

“I look forward to having a major hard-on the day you call me Mr. President.”

“I groan when her breath catches, getting one last taste of her and one last feel of her sex clenching around my finger as I drive it inside. I’m playing with fire and I don’t care.”

There’s no way I’ll fall for Wyatt Hennington.

He can keep his Southern drawl, irresistible smile, and those pick-up lines all to himself. I made the mistake of sleeping with him not once, but twice. I’m not stupid enough to give him round three, especially after he left me in the middle of the night so I could see myself out. I vow to return to Philadelphia and forget him.

It proves easier said than done.

When the doctor informs me I’m the winner of door prize number two, I put my life on hold and head back to Bell Buckle. Three months and if we can’t make this work, I’m gone.

Review – Mr. Rebound by Kat T. Masen

Mr Rebound is a fun, fast read, with wicked hot sex and intense flirty tension.

If there is one thing you can guarantee while reading a Kat Masen book it’s her hero’s. I find it impossible not to love the hero’s Kat writes, Noah was no different and despite being the biggest douche ever at the start my heart still thumped really hard and I found myself falling for him, big time, during this book.

Unfortunately, I found connecting with Morgan REALLY HARD. Yes her character is meant to be cold and hard and I get it now that I know her story in full BUT I still found it hard to fully like her. Morgan and Noah TOGETHER are fierce and so damn hot, I had to fan myself a few times but I didn’t always feel their loving connection nearer the end, because of Morgan.

My vision could also be clouded because of Kate, the quirky best friend of Noah who I loved immediately, give the woman a book, because I’d devour that baby whole.

What Kat has done with Mr. Rebound is seriously so fun. Watching Noah fall in love was refreshing and I actually felt really smug that Mr Rebound himself could eventually feel and want more. Kat wrote Noah’s fall superbly. The basic storyline of Mr Rebound was also really great, fun and not what I expected at all.

Review – Addicted by Alex Lucian

Welp, I wasn’t expecting that! I mean, who knew that when we met Elias in Nathan & Adele’s story he’d be my new favourite?! Who knew his story would be so passionate, so raw, so utterly captivating? Well I didn’t, but after reading Addicted, I feel addicted, hung up, on everything this book was and is and the glorious feels it produces.

Addicted, follows suit and fits into the Tempting series impeccably. Alex Lucian once again has penned a insanely hot story that left me breathless a few too many times. With each book Alex has injected MORE. More humour, more feeling, more passion, more sex, more energy. Just MORE and it’s so effing good.

Elias and Ruby are sinful. Their whole bond is a combination of lusty, dirty, wicked sex and intense, passionate love. While reading Addicted, I got CHILLS. GOOD CHILLS. Chills that creep ever so slowly up the spine and then EXPLODE and BURN, coursing through like a raging inferno. Alex definitely knows how to write ridiculously A-MAZING alphas, men that are so freaking hot but so damn sweet. Elias is the epitome of sexy, sweet and HOT. He’s the epitome of ALPHA MALE for me. And he has a beard! I mean COME ON!! As if he couldn’t get any better… *flails*.

Alex also knows how to write insanely sexy women, that are strong and super kick ass! Ruby is just YES! That’s how I felt about her, I wanted to high 5 her. Even in the time when she was vulnerable, all I wanted to do was celebrate her.

I LOVED this story, loved the burn, loved falling in love with the characters that had one of the best connections I’ve read. I loved everything, from beginning to end. Addicted has implanted itself in my heart, next to my pulse and into my veins. My name is Sophie and I’m Addicted.

Review – Tonic by Staci Hart

You know? I always find it hard to review good books. The books that pull at you, elicit the biggest emotions, the books that leave you in the happiest place – bookworm heaven. THOSE kind of books are the absolute hardest to review. It’s no secret that I am a huge Hart fan. It’s no secret that with each book Hart releases my love for her gets stronger. Know why? Because Hart has a distinctive way of telling stories. Hart tells stories that are full of emotion and realism, character and connection. Hart pours herself into her words resulting in those words then pouring into me and it’s the best feeling, honestly every time I pick up a Hart book, I know I’m going to get a full reading experience. Do I ever worry that her next book won’t compare to the last? No, I don’t. Because each and every Hart book is different, each and every character is different, each and every storyline is fresh and cannot be compared, shouldn’t be compared. I trust Staci and her writing, I trust that she’ll make it an experience I won’t forget and that’s why she’s one of my favourite authors and will continue to be while she puts pen to paper, or fingers to keys.

Harts latest masterpiece is Tonic. Joel and Annika’s story, and oh my wow, what a story it is. From beginning to end I have lived and breathed these characters wanting them in my head, my heart and fixed permanently under my skin. And they are, and they’ll stay, deeply inscribed forever like the most perfectly beautiful tattoo.

At just 16% I got the tingles. You know the ones. Those feelings that set up your soul, those feelings that sizzle right beneath your skin, setting off goosebumps and butterflies. Those feelings of utter bliss and love over what you’re reading. Those tingles! I got them and I felt them strongly. What developed after that can only be described as pure bookworm pleasure.

Joel and Annika’s relationship is fire and ice. Hot and cold. A delicious push and pull. It’s strength and love, weakness and hate all rolled into a perfectly pristine package of angst and brilliance. At 36% everything exploded. That delicious angst detonated into searing heat and left me breathless. Joel is one wicked, dirty, hairy b**tard. He’s utter sin, wrapped in perfection. Everything about him set me alight, from the raw visceral animal side of him to the deep swoony side that stole EVERYTHING from me. Annika, the ice to Joel’s fire. So hard and cold and strong but so utterly real and believable. I loved her, her persistence, her sassiness, her boldness that set her apart from any other. The polar opposite to Joel but more perfect than anything I could have imagined.

If you’ve read a Hart novel before you know that Staci has a way of wrapping you up in the softest blanket while her words break you down and embed themselves deep in your heart and her characters become your friends, people you love, but all the while you know that something will come and blow it all apart taking you down with it. In Tonic, the boom of the bomb she drops is really painful. It’s loud and rips the blanket and your heart to smithereens. And it left me a mess. A total blubbering mess filled with my own anger and desperation. But through the cold, the heat always wins and Staci, piece by piece, put my heart back together, slowly but surely, she made me smile through tears. She made my heart sing through raw devastation and she set my soul ablaze though love.

At 92% I never wanted Tonic to end. I never wanted to leave the world of Joel and Annika. I don’t really think I ever will. I’m sure they will remain deep in me alongside all of Hart’s previous characters.

Tonic left me breathless, it made my heart ache and burn yet sing with the raw, realness of its words. It was everything I wanted and more. It was fire and ice, hot and cold..practically perfect in every way.

Joel Anderson doesn’t take anything seriously.
Not his relationships, which have been few and far between since his brutal divorce. Not the drama of working in a tattoo parlor, which seems to be around every corner. When things get him down, he smiles and cracks a joke. But he’s not the kind of man you cross, or you’ll find yourself at the wrong end of his fists.

Annika Belousov takes everything seriously.

Like her job as a reality television producer, given that she typically has something to prove. Or her love life, which is defined by a series of requirements — affluent, ambitious, accomplished, to name a few. Definitely her family, who worked their whole lives to afford her every opportunity, a sacrifice she doesn’t take lightly. When she’s tapped to produce a reality show at Joel’s shop, she doesn’t think twice, just goes in for the kill, as if there were any other way.

The second Annika walks into Joel’s shop, he makes it his mission to crack her open, but she’s not having it. He’s all wrong — too crass, too hairy, too un-serious. But it doesn’t take her long to find out there’s more to him than smirks and tattoos. And what she finds could put her career and his heart on the line.

Not that Joel cares. Because for the first time in a long time, he’s found his tonic.
