Review- Penalty by Jacob Chance

My rating is 5 out of 5 stars

This book was absolutely fantastic. I love all of Jacob’s books, but I think this one jumped into the number one slot for me. It was so much more than I expected from a sports romance, though I shouldn’t be surprised because Jacob has wowed me from his very first book.

We definitely get the hot, cocky, man whore who meets his match in a petite sweetheart. The sparks flew immediately and I absolutely loved the progression of their relationship. Seeing the alpha get tamed unexpectedly warmed my heart.

Dont get me wrong, this book packed a twist I never saw coming. My jaw dropped to the floor, and the events that followed truly shaped the path for the rest of the book perfectly.

This is a definite must read. I picked it up and didn’t put it down until.I finished. I was hooked.

Review – Going In Deep by Carly Phillips

I’ll admit it. From the first three books of this series, I hated Julian. He was a selfish, self-centered prick set on destroying the three people that at one time he called friends… his brothers. More than that, he decimated a woman who had her own challenges to face. Mental illness is such a mountain to climb anyway. To take advantage of someone in such a handicapped state? How could he be redeemed? How?

The Julian Day of Going In Deep is not the same man I met previously. He’s calmer, more contrite. More responsible and yes, more sorry for what he did and the man that he was. He’s admitted that he is an addict and his addiction colored his life. He’s a changed man. Kendall Parker is a big part of that change. He’s determined to be better and to make amends with the one person who was hurt the most by his actions.

Kendall isn’t the same Kendall Parker that I met previously either. She’s found her purpose in her work with rescue dogs. She’s found the right medications that let her function and get through her days. Her sister and her husband love her. Still her heart hurts. Even after everything that has happened, Kendall still has feelings for Julian. She can’t forget him. When Julian makes it his mission to prove to her that he has changed and wants a second chance with her, will Kendall be able to see the man that Julian has become?

So here’s where I admit something else. I didn’t think that Julian could change. I didn’t think he deserved a second chance, but I was wrong. Very wrong. Carly wrote a truly wonderful story for Julian. His back story was painful, and the more I learned the more I found myself falling so hard for him, rooting for him and Kendall. I mean cheering for them with all that I had. Julian EARNS his second chance and never takes it for granted. I was so impressed by Kendall. She found her voice in all of the chaos of her life. She wanted Julian and the love the two of them shared. And the chemistry… and they have it. Time and distance hasn’t dulled the pull these two have.

This story is one of such incredible triumphant for two people who were once so broken and found their missing pieces in each other. Carly addresses mental illness and addiction with such clarity and honestly. Julian and Kendall have such a real love… the kind of love that makes redemption, forgiveness and friendship possible. Amazing love story, Carly, and a brilliant ending to another wonderful Phillips series.

New leash and collar in hand, Julian walked into For Paws to pick up his new dog. He was excited to have a pet, happy to know he’d have company, and dammit, looking forward to seeing Kendall again.

She sighed. “My building has a one dog only rule. And you’ve met Waffles. Besides, we can’t save them all ourselves, as Josie likes to remind me.”

He inclined his head. “Then your loss is my gain.”

She shifted the dog and held him out for Julian. He accepted his new pet, juggling him with the leash, and held him up, meeting his gaze. “Looks like it’s you and me, Bud. You ready for your new life?”

My rating is 6 out of 5 stars

This book was so much more than I expected when I started reading it. This author was new to me, and I absolutely love meeting the work of new people. Shauna seriously blew me away with the depth of character and emotion that this story held.
Yes, I did cry a few times. Yes, I got hot and bothered. Yes, I swooned like a teenage girl with a crush. Yes, my heart broke for each and every family member. Yes, I cannot wait to read the rest of this series. And, YES, I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK 100%.

Get ready to go on a journey of a family that’s broken but will be slowly put back together after 10 long years of heartache. I truly can’t say enough about this incredibly, amazing book and all of it’s flawed characters. Not only do I give this book 6 stars, Shauna now goes on my MUST READ list. INCREDIBLE!!

“Are you part of the execution team?”

I swallowed, the thought of lying to her heavy in my throat. There was a reason we never divulged who was on the team. She said nothing, returning to her meal, and I followed suit. Eventually, the cloud that filled the room seemed to dissipate as she digested my answers. “Tell me about your brothers. I’m dying to know about them.”

“Why?”

She shrugged one shoulder and sipped her wine. “I just am. Are they like you? Big and sexy and moody?”

“I’m not moody.”

She laughed. “Not denying the big and sexy, huh?”

I fought the grin that wanted to bust loose and forked my salad. “We’re all big and sexy, I won’t lie.”

“I’m sure. What else?”

I thought of my brothers and our time together yesterday. Even as distant and strained as we’d become, I knew we all still loved each other fiercely. “Well, I’m the oldest. Levi is next. He’s a businessman in Austin, divorced, no kids. Jamison is a SWAT sniper in Dallas, goofy and single. Joshua works as a criminal profiler for the FBI in Virginia. He’s brainy and quiet and single, as far as I know anyway. And the baby is Silas. He’s an up and coming MMA fighter and he lives in Houston.”

“So none of you have girlfriends or wives? Really?”

I shrugged. It sounded weird when you put it that way. “Other than Levi, we’ve all managed to avoid it.”

One brow lifted in challenge. “Avoid it?”

“Yeah.” I scooped up the last of my food.

“Are any of you gay?”

I nearly choked. “No.” I grabbed my water and sipped. “Why would you ask that?”

“Well, no women. Maybe there are men.”

“No. Only careers.” And grief, but I didn’t admit that out loud.

Her foot suddenly found my leg under the table. “I’m glad to hear it.”

I ran a hand under her jeans and up her calf. “Interested in my brothers?”

“No.”

“Glad to hear it.” I caressed down her leg and massaged her instep.

Her eyes fluttered closed as I continued rubbing her foot. Suddenly, I was overwhelmed by the need to taste her again. “Are we done here?” My voice was gruff, even to my own ears.

Her eyes slid open and met mine. “I’m not sure.”

“I am.” Keeping our gazes locked, I stood and rounded the table to stand beside her. “Get up.”

Meghan is known for perfection of a pure blooded, filthy talking, alpha male. Boone Thrasher definitely fits this description. We also get to see the real man behind “bad boy of country”.
I devoured this book from page 1. Man do I wish I didn’t have another review due at the moment because book 2 is calling my name, and its oh so tempting to dive in and forego sleep.
We always know when Meghan March releases a new book, it’s going to be a best seller and this is definitely going to hit that list FAST!!!

Holy mother of God. Who doesn’t want more Logan and Tate?? These two have an extremely special place in my soul and I was so thrilled that this series was getting 3 more books. This book was beyond my wildest dreams.
Tate and Logan have both finally built a foundation that no one can break. To see them so extremely happy and in love, made my day.

Tate leaned his shoulder against the wall and shut his eyes, picturing Logan with his jet-black hair, those piercing blue eyes, and that full, sensual mouth. Tate had barely had time to say goodbye to him this morning, and no matter how much he was laughing it off, Logan was right—this not seeing one another was bullshit. They needed to sit down and work something out, now that Logan’s schedule would be returning to something more manageable.

“Agreed,” Tate said. “Something needs to change.”

“Good. How about we discuss it at dinner?”

Tate winced. “I’m here until one.”

“Can’t you beg Amelia to stay and come meet me?” Logan asked, and if he hadn’t sounded quite so desperate, Tate might not have caved.

“Depends.”

“On?”

“What am I going to get if I come to you?”

Logan’s voice lowered to a tone that never failed to make Tate hard. “Me. All night. And maybe again in the morning. I’m in a giving kind of mood.”

Tate swallowed and stretched his legs out in front of himself, suddenly needing a little more room in his jeans. “All night, huh? It’s been a while since that happened.”

“It has. So come find me and I’ll rectify that little issue you’re having with remembering our weekend away at the cabin. That was the last time my cock was inside you.”

I recently told Aurora that when I came back in the next life, I want to be the girl that a Mayson falls for. I meant it! With every Until Him book in this series, the Mayson men get sexier, make my heart swoon harder and their leading ladies make the stories of finding the BOOM just that much more enjoyable. Sage is not going to be denied, and he’s willing to fight to claim what is his. He’s persistent, sweet and endearing. He’s protective and determined to show Kim that they can be happy together, to prove to her that those first 24 hours changed his life, too. Kim knows that she has never felt for anyone what she feels for Sage, and she’s tired of fighting what she feels. She wants to be happy and her life has not been easy. Why not give Sage the chance to be everything she could ever hope for?

The going for these two is not easy but the end of the journey was spectacular! So many steamy moments… Sage is not over the top alpha like his father but in his own way shows the same dominant streak and strength. His love for Kim is so evident, and he knows that he cannot waste the second chance that she has given him. Kim has her own insecurities and revelations that must be faced. The past rears its ugly head and the couple have obstacles to face together. Leave it to Sage to power through obstacles the way his parents have taught him and by the examples his family has shown him. Nothing is stopping him from having it all with Kim.

Aurora Rose Reynolds has given us another fantastic addition to the Until series! Sage and Kim have such a beautiful love story. This book is unlike any in the series. Filled with twists and turns, tragedy, heartbreak and forgiveness. Love done the Mayson way. So very well done, ARR! Very well done indeed!

There are some series that I could read until the characters are old and gray…ones that I will always want and always NEED!!! Chelle Bliss’ Men of Inked series is one I read shortly after book one and could READ FOREVER!!! Every story in this series is SENSATIONAL. These characters, which now span three generations, are so near and dear to my heart. Being reunited with the Gallos is like coming home to friends, family, and everything familiar. For me, the Men of Inked series IS HOME.

Chelle Bliss’ latest Men of Inked story, Worship Me, is SWEET NOSTALGIA and NIRVANA. It’s like being wrapped in a cozy blanket and feeling warm and loved. The depth and devotion of this great Gallo family is like no other. Their bond is incredible and their banter-—sometimes bold, often playful, and always loving—could be that of so many tight-knit families. I just LOVE this great Gallo family!

Review-Cask Strength by Kayla Reyne

My rating is 6 out of 5 stars

I thought Layla hit it out of the park with Single Malt, but she kicked it up about 10 notches with Cask Strength. I absolutely loved every part of this book, and I was so extremely excited when I saw book 2. Now I don’t know how I’m gonna be able to wait for book 3.

This book was completely action packed while emotionally charged. Continuing the journey with Aidan and Jamie, through ups and downs, highs and lows, was just what the doctor ordered.

Layla immediately went to my must read list with book 1, but she just cemented that decision even more with book 2. After book 3, I may just be stalking her extra hard. Time to go cool off. I have no idea how I’m going to fall asleep now after this action packed greatness.

“I know our schedule’s fucked, but that face of yours is awfully grim.”

Startling at the full-blast Irish accent, Jamie’s head shot up and the phone slipped from his fingers, clattering to the ground. Pick it up, some instinct ordered, but he was too busy losing the rest of his fucking mind. The veneer of calm shattered and any hope of patience took a flying leap out the window.

Because standing in front of him was his stylishly dressed partner, a messenger bag over one shoulder, a coat tossed over the other, and silver-rimmed aviators nestled in waves of auburn hair. More times than he could count, Jamie had imagined Aidan with his natural hair color, and damn if the reality didn’t surpass each and every one of his fantasies.

Mouth dry, heart racing, cheeks burning, Jamie’s fingers twitched with the urge to weave through the long red strands. Reaching down instead, he grabbed his phone, held it between his palms, and wedged his clasped hands between his knees, forestalling his impulse. He tried to force out a “hello,” but his brain refused to cooperate, all the blood in his body having raced south where his jeans became painfully tight.

Fuck.

He was gone. So far gone. Past casual, past a crush, past simple attraction.

“Fuck,” he muttered out loud.

Aidan shifted on his feet in front of him. “I said I was making a few more changes.”

“Yeah, but this—” he spread his arms wide, the motion totally inadequate “—is more than a fucking few.”

Their gazes locked, heat sparking. “Problem, Jamie?” Aidan’s eyes flickered down to the very obvious problem.

“You gotta stop that.”

He dropped his messenger bag and shrugged the coat off his shoulder. “Stop what?”

“Saying my name in that accent.”

“Mr. Walker, then,” he said with a smirk.

Way too smooth.

Jamie propped his elbows on this knees and covered his face with his hands. “God no,” he groaned. “Not that either.”

Aidan laughed as the buzzer went off on the conveyor behind them.

Leather smacked the backs of Jamie’s hands, and he snagged Aidan’s coat before it hit the ground.

Leather?

“Cover that up,” Aidan said, eyeing his crotch. “And get yourself together. Debrief in the car.” Turning, he headed for the spinning luggage carousel, giving Jamie a prime view of his sinfully fitted jeans.

Get himself together…

Yeah, right.

Twelve Tiny Truths by M. Dauphin & H.Q. Frost

When I started Twelve Tiny Truths I have to admit that I really struggled to get into it at first. It was like I was on a roller coaster that was moving really slowly. However, I stuck with it and it didn’t take long for things to really start moving and gradually that roller coaster began rising higher and higher. Then, HOLY mother of god, I hit a loop-d-loop and this book became breathtakingly addictive.

All of a sudden everything just seemed to click and I was ALL IN. Nothing could have stopped me finishing the book, or getting off the ‘Dauphrost’ roller coaster.

That first initial loop-d-loop was nothing compared to the drama and angst that surges from this story. And when I say drama I don’t mean unnecessary drama, I mean intense, heartfelt drama that made me FEEL!

Travis & Charlie are so sweet. The swoon is off the charts. I mean if Travis got anymore swoony my legs would give out. He’s just THAT GOOD! And these two are HOT. FIYAH burning HOT!

The shining star of this book? It’s realness! The characters weren’t rich millionaires or your typical “romance characters”. They were real people, with real, tough life changing problems that they rose against and lived with. It was refreshing and uplifting, even with the sadness. I just really enjoyed that aspect and the overall deliverance.

Twelve Tiny Truths is an emotional, addictive rollercoaster that ended up hooking me and taking me on a ride I’ll not forget in a hurry.

Book 2 in the welcome to Carson series but can be read as a standalone.

Nikki and Austin are the Hero’s of this story. The story line flows beautifully and keeps you engrossed throughout, the twists and surprises hidden along the way will leave you speechless, have your heart pounding and closing off the outside world as you delve deeper into Austin and Nikki.

Their journey is not a quiet and simple one, Austin is fiercely loyal, and loves hard. Nikki returning to Carson, unsure about what is to come but knowing she has to take a chance on her heart and Austin.
