The Spring Girls: A Modern-Day Retelling of Little Women by Anna Todd
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

”Never, ever, let anyone take your strength. Don’t let anyone make you feel less than whole, and if they try, show them who you are.”

A CHARMING and COMPELLING coming-of-age saga that paints a vivid picture of sisterhood and the strong family bond, The Spring Girls grabs you and never lets go. This Little Women-inspired read is so RIVETING and RELATABLE. The setting of New Orleans and Germany were places I’ve lived or heavily frequented. I instantly related to the mother, Meredith, an Army wife of four children like me. I saw some of myself in each of the Spring girls. Each sister is so UNIQUE and CHARISMATIC that you’ll be pressed to choose a favorite Spring girl. I LOVED EVERYTHING about this spellbinding story of sisters.

We were a force of nature, the four of us Spring girls.

Blog Tour (1)

The Spring Girls is a POWERFUL and PASSIONATE story of love, acceptance, and identity discovery. This tale is brilliantly told with multiple heroine viewpoints that flawlessly flow into the overarching family saga. The Spring Girls is fresh, fun, and full of feels. I couldn’t put this book down. What an ENTHRALLING and EVOCATIVE journey!!! My only problem is that I NEED MORE!!!

I loved the plot twist. I loved the entire idea that people were never who we thought they were.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 strong ‘sisterhood’ stars

synopsis.jpg

Four sisters desperately seeking the blueprints to life—the modern-day retelling of Louise May Alcott’s Little Women like only Anna Todd (After, Imagines) could do.

The Spring Girls—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—are a force of nature on the New Orleans military base where they live. As different as they are, with their father on tour in Iraq and their mother hiding something, their fears are very much the same. Struggling to build lives they can be proud of and that will lift them out of their humble station in life, one year will determine all that their futures can become.

The oldest, Meg, will be an officer’s wife and enter military society like so many of the women she admires. If her passion—and her reputation—don’t derail her.

Beth, the workhorse of the family, is afraid to leave the house, is afraid she’ll never figure out who she really is.

Jo just wants out. Wishing she could skip to graduation, she dreams of a life in New York City and a career in journalism where she can impact the world. Nothing can stop her—not even love.

And Amy, the youngest, is watching all her sisters, learning from how they handle themselves. For better or worse.

With plenty of sass, romance, and drama, The Spring Girls revisits Louisa May Alcott’s classic Little Women, and brings its themes of love, war, class, adolescence, and family into the language of the twenty-first century.

Meet the Springs

Christmas won’t be Christmas without any presents,” Jo declared from her spot on the rug.

She sat at the feet of her oldest sister, Meg. Jo’s long brown hair was unruly, as it always was. She was my strong girl. She was the only one of my girls who didn’t hog the bathroom. Her delicate fingers, the black polish on their nails chipped, picked at the frayed edges of the Afghan rug under her folded legs.

The hand-woven black-and-red textile had once been bright and beautiful, and I remembered when my husband had sent it to our house back in Texas from his former post in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

In my head, Denise’s scratchy voice reminds me to use proper military lingo: my husband’s FOB in Kandahar. The biggest forward operating base in Afghanistan, she would also necessarily add. Denise was always on my case. Come to think of it, she even had comments about the rug when I got it. She said he could have sent it to the base and paid no fee.

None of that mattered to my girls. From the moment it arrived, they loved that rug as much as I did. When I ripped open the package from their dad, who had been living across the world for the past eight months, the girls—particularly Jo—were excited to own such a beautiful, culture-filled treasure from the other side of the world.

Meg loved that we now had a lavish handcrafted object in our simple home. She was my most materialistic daughter, but I always knew that if I tried to teach her right, she would use her love of shiny things to do something magical and worthwhile with her life.

Amy was too young to really care about the rug, and of course Beth knew it was coming because her daddy knew that she was the only Spring Girl who could be trusted to keep the secret. Plus, on a more practical level, since Beth was basically homeschooled, Frank knew she could watch out for it.

Later, he explained to me that he wanted to mail the package straight home so that we could be treated with the rug as a surprise on our doorstep, rather than as a pickup chore on the base. I’m not sure if I told Denise that she would understand.

Of late, our beautiful rug wasn’t as beautiful anymore. Dirty shoes and heavy bodies had worn it down, and the colors blended into a mud brown that I tried my best to clean, but the color just wouldn’t come back. We loved it not one bit less.

Review – Can’t Let Go by Barbara Freethy

5 out of 5 stars

This was my first venture into a Barbara Freethy book, and I was pleasantly surprised. The development of the characters and the way they contrasted each other kept for an intriguing story.
Annie is from a large family of FBI agents, cops, and firefighters  but she didn’t inherit that gene. She’s the curious artsy free spirit. She lands in a beach town sub letting a house on the beach for a friend that’s out of town for 6 months. She’s hoping it will get her creative juices flowing again. One day she decides to try to overcome her fear of water, which leads her in a huge predicament… Shark!!  She gets rescued by the gruff sexy surfer  Griffin who skips out before she can thank him. She is determined to find him and express her gratitude.
Griffin is a quiet guy that keeps to himself and for good reason. When the feisty Annie tracks him down, he knows no good could come of it. He has to push her away while at the same time fight the attraction he’s feeling. These two lead us on quite a journey.
It was an excellent read that I definitely recommend. You don’t have to read the others in the series to read this.

 CAN’T LET GO

Callaway Cousins #5

By Barbara Freethy

Release Day: DEC 26, 2017

From #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Barbara Freethy comes another stunning blend of heart-warming romance and spine-tingling suspense in her popular Callaway Series…

Talented graphic artist and animator Annie Callaway has been commissioned by a Hollywood studio to create the next superhero blockbuster movie, but a bout of creative block has Annie searching the Southern California beach scene for inspiration. A local Irish bar in an old train depot, run by the ruggedly attractive and somewhat mysterious Griffin Hale, piques her interest, and she finds herself weaving fantasies about not only Griffin but also the quirky characters who work there.

The last thing Griffin Hale needs at his bar is a nosy artist looking for personal stories to turn into movie plots. He has carefully cultivated a scene of complete normalcy for people who need it more than Annie could possibly imagine, and it’s his job to protect them. But the beautiful redhead with the compelling green eyes is difficult to turn away. Annie’s fantasy world where good always conquers evil is not the life that Griffin has lived, and he can’t help but think she’ll never be satisfied with anyone less than a superhero.

After a string of bad relationships, Annie willingly admits that most real men don’t live up to her muscle-bound, cape-wearing protectors of the world, but when her stubborn curiosity propels her into a danger she never expected, she begins to realize that some heroes work in the dark…and a man who fights for you is a man worth fighting for.

While Griffin is determined to keep Annie alive, he’s not at all convinced he can give her the happily-ever-after she’s looking for. But then some stories take an unexpected turn…

A man walked into the bar. He wore dark-gray slacks, a white button-down shirt, and a striped navy-blue tie. His brown hair was cut very short, his face cleanly shaven. And he was the last person Griffin wanted to see. But whatever Paul Daniels had to say needed to be said with a bit more privacy.

He tipped his head toward a table in the corner, then poured two shots of bourbon and walked around the bar, sitting down across from a man who inspired both loyalty and frustration whenever they met up. “Could you look more like a fed?” he asked.

“I didn’t have time to change,” Paul Daniels replied. He took the shot with a swallow of satisfaction. “Smooth.”

“You must be off the clock.”

“Almost.”

That answer didn’t make him happy. “I told you we need to take a break.”

“And we did. It’s been two months,” Paul replied. “Megan is a twenty-four-year-old woman. She’s jittery, fragile, and isn’t doing well in isolation. She needs people around her that she doesn’t have to lie to. It won’t be for long—a week, maybe ten days.”

“You always say that.”

“And I’m mostly telling the truth.”

He drank his shot, breaking his own rule about not drinking while working, then said, “Where is she?”

“In the car.”

“Alone?”

“Rob is with her.” Paul paused, resting his forearms on the table, as his brown-eyed gaze settled on Griffin’s face. “She’s not any happier about this than you are, but I think this would be a good place for her.”

“Where is she from?”

“A long way from here. I’m not worried about danger finding her; I’m worried about her cracking or running. Some people can live a lie with no problems. Others can’t.”

He knew that better than anyone.

The door opened again, and for a split second he thought it might be the person Paul had brought to the bar, but the woman with reddish-blonde hair and sparkling green eyes was much more familiar and even more disturbing. She’d been very attractive in the orange bikini she’d had on yesterday, but it had been hard to get past the enormous fear in her eyes. Today, wearing white jeans and a clingy blue top, she looked beautiful and back on her game.

But why was she here? He couldn’t believe it was a coincidence.

“Damn,” he muttered.

“Ex-girlfriend?” Paul asked, raising an eyebrow as he followed his gaze.

“No, but not someone I wanted to see.”

“You never want to see anyone. I’m still surprised someone as unfriendly as you decided to open a bar.”

Sometimes—like today—he asked himself the same question. But while there were a lot of people in the bar, he didn’t have to interact with very many of them.

As the redhead’s gaze lit on him, a smile spread across her face. He felt like he’d just been struck by a hot, bright ray of sun. It warmed up places in his body that had gone cold a long time ago.

“I’m going to get Megan and bring her in,” Paul said, getting to his feet. “I’ll let you deal with whatever this is.”

“What?” he asked, a little distracted by the woman making her way across the bar.

“I’ll be right back.”

He had a lot more he wanted to say to Paul, but his friend was already gone, and the woman he’d pulled out of the ocean yesterday was almost at his table. He stood up, his nerves tightening. He could sense danger from a mile away. He didn’t know why this woman was trouble; he just knew that she was.

Review – The Lady Is A Thief  by Aimee Nicole Walker

 5 out of 5 stars

Wow. Aimee nailed her first M/F book. This was an absolute riot. It made you laugh at all the shenanigans and it kept you on your toes with all the mysterious murders still going on in Blissville. It was like going back in time and getting glimpses of some of our favorite characters from the Curl Up and Dye series plus a bunch of new characters.
I loved Maegan. She was a riot and she wasn’t one to be messed with. She was hell on wheels. I love that in a female main character. She is a successful business woman along with her brother Milo. She is unlucky in love until the huge hunk of mam meat who happens to be her neighbor but also a cop comes barrelling into her life. Her libido goes haywire
Elijah has had a rough go at love and has sworn off relationships for good. Who can blame him after coming home to find his wife pregnant by his brother. I mean seriously?  I would kick his a** if I could jump in those pages.
A seriously dangerous situation comes up that throws Maegan and Elijah together and it gets harder and harder to fight that attraction. Their chemistry is off the scales. It’s only a matter of time until they combust. We get a HEA for now, and I will be eagerly waiting for book 2.

Maegan Miracle seemingly has the perfect life. Maegan’s world is turned upside down when she becomes a potential target in a twisted killer’s cat and mouse games. “Open up, Freckles,” Elijah said as he pounded on the door hard enough to make it rattle in the frame. He didn’t sound angry though; he sounded… horny.

Yes, my body cried out. I shook so hard from anticipation that I practically vibrated through the house instead of walked.

“I know you’re awake. I saw your bedroom light on! Open up this door before I—”

I yanked the door open before he could finish what he was going to say. “Huff and puff and blow it down?” I asked sassily, finishing for him. His pulse pounded wildly in his neck, matching the tempo of my heart trying to beat its way out of my chest. “What the hell is your problem?”

“I got something for you to blow.”

    “You wish,” I retorted.

Elijah’s eyes lowered to my unbound breasts and stayed there. He wasn’t the least bit ashamed that he was staring at my girls. Okay, so the nips were saluting his soldier, but that didn’t make it right. What woman doesn’t whip off her bra as soon as she comes home for the night? It wasn’t some part of a grand scheme to lure that jackass back into my bed. I’d settle for a wall-banging.

I crossed my arms beneath my chest, but that only plumped them up more for him. Elijah’s delighted smile should’ve pissed me off because I was not the kind of girl who opened her doors and legs for a guy at whim. What an asshole! Who did he think he was… Oh, fucking forget it. I grabbed his scarf and pulled him into my house and shut the door.

I am a wife and mother to three kids, three dogs, and a cat. When I’m not dreaming up stories, I like to lose myself in a good book, cook or bake. I’m a girly tomboy who paints her fingernails while watching sports and yelling at the referees. I will always choose the book over the movie. I believe in happily-ever- after. Love inspires everything that I do. Music keeps me sane.

Review – Unveil Me by Alex Grayson

5 out of 5 stars

Alex has delivered another amazing book in this series. The first two books were incredible and,  I could not wait for Andrew to get his story. I fell in love with him instantly upon meeting him in this series. He is kind, caring  and hilarious. How can you not love him?
He is hiding a secret from his friends. I don’t want to give the secret away so I won’t go into detail about that, but when he finally meets Jase, he realizes Jase is keeping secrets of his own too. They could be detrimental to a whole lot of people.
These two are smoking hot together and are adorably cute together. They have obstacles to overcome if they want their HEA. This is a definite must read even if you’re not a mm fan.

Andrew Donovan is the outrageous goofy guy that everyone loves. In any setting he’s in, he takes front stage and makes everyone laugh; from his ridiculously funny t-shirts, to his naughty jokes, to his shameless flirting with anything that walks, both men and women. But what you see on the outside can sometimes be deceiving. Andrew has a secret. A secret that’s slowly withering away the fun loving guy that everyone knows. A secret that even his closest friends know nothing about.

When he first sees Jase in a picture, he knows instantly that he’s found the one person who will be his forever. He’s just impatiently biding his time for him to get to Jaded Hollow. Andrew is torn. On one hand, he’s finally found the other half of his soul, while on the other hand, he’s slowly dying inside. Tragedy is on the horizon and there’s nothing he can do to stop it.

Jase Matthews comes to Jaded Hollow a dead man walking. He knows it’s only a matter of time before they find him. There is no way they’ll let him live. At his first sight of Andrew, he’s instantly drawn to him, but he refuses the connection, knowing his days are numbered. However, it’s not long before he realizes the pull Andrew has on him is something he can’t fight.

Can Andrew find the courage to reveal to his loved ones the secret he’s kept for years? Will Jase be the man to help him overcome the grief he feels inside? And what happens when Jase’s past catches up to him and threatens to take away the man Andrew’s waited forever to meet?

A love that feels fated meets a fate determined to keep two souls apart.

Review – The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon

My rating: 6 of 5 stars

Sometimes the most beautiful people are beautifully broken.

Here I still sit in a dream-like state, floating in a SOULFUL STUPOR, tears still streaked all over my face. After embarrassingly and now regrettably hoarding The Law of Moses for three years, I CONSUMED this LIFE-ALTERING tale in less than 24 hours. This book left me EMOTIONALLY BARE and BLEEDING long after I turned the last page. The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon took every smile … every sigh … every swoon … every tear …. every feel … EVERYTHING!!!

There is no exquisite beauty without some strangeness in the proportion. ~Poe

After just a few pages…
My heart split open where every emotion absorbed every word.

After just a few pages…
I FELT this story’s spirit seize and squeeze my soul.

After just a few pages…
I KNEW that this broken and beautiful book would BREAK ME, and that it did.

After just a few pages…
I KNEW that The Law of Moses was a life-changing journey, one I would forever feel.

After just a few pages…
I was ready to bestow The Law of Moses ALL OF THE STARS as it already had ALL OF MY HEART and ALL OF MY SOUL.

The Law of Moses is a STUNNING, SOULFUL, and SPIRITUAL second-chance romance—a POETIC and POWERFUL journey of love, loss, and life. This is a story of a beautiful and unabashedly fearless girl, Georgia, whose heart seeks out a beautiful but broken boy, Moses.

”Maybe we’re all cracked. Or bent.”

Moses is a beacon of light fused with dark, beautiful to those who know the broken boy inside the bold man. I LOVED this man of many layers. Moses and his damaged heart—both I wanted to save—and help walk him to the light so he can see how he’s a gift. This broken boy never wanted to be saved … until her. Until Georgia crosses his path and he never was the same.

He was like water—cold, deep, unpredictable…and just like I’d done all my life, I jumped in head first…but this time, I drowned.

Beautiful Georgia is a dreamer with strength in spades. She is fiercely independent with a wild streak I loved but also so tender-hearted! I admired this heroine so much!

”Georgia, you better run.”

“What would I do that, Moses? When I want you to catch me?”

The connection between this hero and heroine is powerful and passionate, as if they were fated together to claim each other’s hearts. Moses and Georgia are beautiful inside out and beautiful together. Just MAGICAL. Soul mates whose story touched me so deeply that I felt their connection in my soul.

Sometimes within the rubble is resilience. Sometimes within the broken is the biggest gift. Only in the darkness can you see the light, stars that beckon from above, beacons of hope and healing after heartbreak.

”I wasn’t trying to hurt you. I was trying to save you.”

The Law of Moses is as heartbreaking as it is beautiful. This tale takes your emotions on an extraordinary journey. Painted in incredible detail with powerful and poignant words so full of life, The Law of Moses bleeds ethereal and emotional beauty. An omnipresent spirit and soundness seep through The Law of Moses like raindrops on a dry day, a magical existence all over. This story is so SPIRITUAL … so SOULFUL… so SPECIAL.

It doesn’t take long to discover that Amy Harmon’s stories are MEANINGFUL. This incredibly gifted author’s words MATTER. This author pours all of her heart and soul into her words. It’s as if Amy Harmon’s words are stamped with a spirit—perhaps something supernatural—that imprints on your soul.

The Law of Moses seeped into my soul… sweetness … sorrow … swoon … all of the senses!!! This SOUL-SHATTERING story struck me hard—this emotional explosion in words—where I felt every word. I FELT EVERYTHING!

This book is so HEARTBREAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!! I knew this story would hold my heart in its hands forever, and oh does The Law of Moses still have my heart in its grasp. After breaking me into many pieces again and again, The Law of Moses mended me in the most beautiful of ways. An INSPIRATIONAL and EMOTIONALLY-CLAD JOURNEY, The Law of Moses is ALL THE GREATS. I will FOREVER FEEL and LOVE this heartbreakingly beautiful book. This story’s spirit will forever remain etched into my soul.

It was a great story, after all. A story of before and after, of new beginnings and never-endings. A story flawed and fractured, crazy and cracked, and most of all, a love story.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 ’but worth all the’ beautifully broken stars

6 bbb kisses

synopsis.jpg

If I tell you right up front, right in the beginning that I lost him, it will be easier for you to bear. You will know it’s coming, and it will hurt. But you’ll be able to prepare.

Someone found him in a laundry basket at the Quick Wash, wrapped in a towel, a few hours old and close to death. They called him Baby Moses when they shared his story on the ten o’clock news – the little baby left in a basket at a dingy Laundromat, born to a crack addict and expected to have all sorts of problems. I imagined the crack baby, Moses, having a giant crack that ran down his body, like he’d been broken at birth. I knew that wasn’t what the term meant, but the image stuck in my mind. Maybe the fact that he was broken drew me to him from the start.

It all happened before I was born, and by the time I met Moses and my mom told me all about him, the story was old news and nobody wanted anything to do with him. People love babies, even sick babies. Even crack babies. But babies grow up to be kids, and kids grow up to be teenagers. Nobody wants a messed up teenager.

And Moses was messed up. Moses was a law unto himself. But he was also strange and exotic and beautiful. To be with him would change my life in ways I could never have imagined. Maybe I should have stayed away. Maybe I should have listened. My mother warned me. Even Moses warned me. But I didn’t stay away.

And so begins a story of pain and promise, of heartache and healing, of life and death. A story of before and after, of new beginnings and never-endings. But most of all…a love story.

Review – Misadventures With A Super Hero by Angel Payne

Bolt_cover-mitchell

Review graphic

She’s given us wonderful alpha military men, divine princes on a secluded beautiful island, political thrillers and all around great reads. With each release, Angel Payne stretches her talents just a little bit further and never fails to deliver heart stopping, swoony reads. Misadventures with a Super Hero is no exception – but it is. This story is so outside the norm of what we would expect from Angel. She stepped outside of her comfort zone and embraced something so different. That’s why it’s such an AMAZING read!

Reece Richards was a playboy. Adonis body, beautiful face… the world was at his feet with a world size ego to match. He could have any possession that he wanted. Any woman in the world was at his beck and call, but it was an encounter with one woman – one seriously sinister woman – that would change his life and everything he knew forever. He soon finds himself isolated in one of the five star hotels that he operates for his family and harboring a secret.

Emmaline Crist is the newest member of Reece’s hotel staff, joining the eclectic group working the night shift. What makes her work so wonderful? Bolt sightings. He’s the mysterious man in black leather and electric hands cleaning up crime on the streets of LA. The other thing that makes her work so wonderful? Encounters with her mysterious boss. The night crew thinks that he is weird. Emma thinks he’s amazing and well, electric. One night with him and she knows he’s the one.

Funny…. so does Reece. He’s overwhelmed by what he feels for her, the depth of his emotions and just how fast they came. He is consumed by his Velvet, just as he is consumed with fear for her safety. There are some seriously bad people after Reece. He’s such a unique leading man. He’s funny, jaded, beautiful and special. He’s has such a romantic heart and his love for Emma is breathtaking and instant. Emma is intriguing, just as passionate for Reece as she is for Bolt and spunky. Man, she is a spitfire in a pair of heels! I loved her!

I didn’t go into this read expecting to find Thor or Iron Man or Captain America. I wasn’t planning to read a rehash of Superman or Batman, either. What I did get was a book that is so amazing and very different from the other books in the Misadventures series. It’s so crafty and appealed to the comic geek that I am! This story has an irresistible hero and feisty leading lady with a love story that dragged me under from the first page. I was mad when there was no other pages to turn to but thrilled to learn that Emma and Reece will be back! That ending alone is a reason to beg for more from these two. Emma and Reece are perfection! GO TEAM BOLT!

Excelsior, Angel!

Working the night shift at a five-star hotel in downtown Los Angeles, I get my fair share of weirdos. But none of them prepared me for the night I met Bolt. He saved my life.

Now, he’s my super hero—the hunk I’m yearning to thank in more creative ways than a damn kiss on the cheek. Too bad he’s actually Reece Richards, my full-on nerd of a real-life boss.

He’s got some commitment issues thanks to his evil ex and global empire—and from having to save the city from a maniac out to destroy everything he loves.

But there’s something that just may interfere with all those plans. My heart.

Review – ROOMIES by Christina Lauren

Roomies by Christina Lauren

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

ROOMIES is the latest romance written by the dynamic duo, Christina Lauren, and it’s a DAZZLING HIT!!! Christina Lauren FLAWLESSLY weaves a MOVING and MASTERFUL tale of unconventional love threaded with family loyalty. This romance, easily devoured in one sitting, is DELICIOUSLY DELIGHTFUL. ROOMIES is simply IRRESISTIBLE!!!

Centered around a musical theatre in the Big Apple, ROOMIES closely follows aspiring novelist, Holland, as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery where her selfless act of family loyalty sets the stage for love. During her self-discovery, the beautiful and newly emboldened Holland finds her muse in a marriage of convenience, wedding a musician, Calvin. The handsome Irishman may be the luck and love her life has been missing.

Why on earth does it feel like I nearly want to leap without looking?

I ADORED the quirky and animated Holland and her lovable family. The family dynamic is endearing, so tender and touching that I could not help but feel like a part of this close-nit collection of characters too. Calvin is as sweet as he is sexy. Calvin’s friendly and flirty demeanor along with piercing green eyes and ruggedly handsome looks were mesmerizing. I fell head-over-heels in love with this MELT-WORTHY HERO. These characters felt genuine…so REFRESHINGLY REAL.

ROOMIES is FRIENDSHIP ON FIRE!!! Holland and Calvins’ attraction is fused with angst, an adrenaline rush that made me feel ALIVE. This hero and heroines’ chemistry is UNDENIABLE. Their relationship is so sweet, so smoldering, so passionate, so perfect.

“I think you might be the best girl there ever was.”

“I think you’re the best boy there ever was, too.”

This romance is no rapid fire; ROOMIES is a sweet, smoldering, and soul-stirring SLOW BURN. This story is a spark of fire that turns into hot flames, flames that set friendship on fire where the hero and heroine can’t fight their chemistry. ROOMIES is a HEADY and HEARTFELT story of slow-burning love and fierce family loyalty, one I LIVED, FELT, and LOVED. I felt every emotion that the hero and heroine felt; their unconventional love story was MINE. I lost myself in ROOMIES, vanishing into the Big Apple Broadway life, SPELLBOUND, as it seized every part of me: body, heart, and soul.

“I don’t like to think of you playing a side part in a story. You’ve suddenly become a very large part of mine.”

This SPELLBINDING ROMANCE springs to life!!! Christina Laurens’ FRESH and FLAWLESS writing with vivid detail, an original plot, and compelling and charming characters pull you in, wrapping you around this story where you’ll never want to leave. ROOMIES is a romantic journey, a FULL-BLOWN IMMERSION, one that I could not help but picture as a movie playing in my head while reading. I was BESOTTED with this book!!! The final-wrap of this passionate production of slow-burning love is so worth the wait. ROOMIES merits a big round of applause for a romance felt from beginning to end.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 slow-burning and soul-stirring stars

Marriages of convenience are so…inconvenient.

Rescued by Calvin McLoughlin from a would-be subway attacker, Holland Bakker pays the brilliant musician back by pulling some of her errand-girl strings and getting him an audition with a big-time musical director. When the tryout goes better than even Holland could have imagined, Calvin is set for a great entry into Broadway—until he admits his student visa has expired and he’s in the country illegally.

Holland impulsively offers to wed the Irishman to keep him in New York, her growing infatuation a secret only to him. As their relationship evolves from awkward roommates to besotted lovers, Calvin becomes the darling of Broadway. In the middle of the theatrics and the acting-not-acting, what will it take for Holland and Calvin to realise that they both stopped pretending a long time ago?

ROOMIES IS LIVE!

Review – As Long As You Hate Me by Carrie Aarons

ALAYHM cover

Review graphic

With every single release, Carrie Aarons grows in her talent. As Long As You Hate Me shows just how far she has come in her time as an indie author. This story of a bad boy rocker trying so hard to get back the girl that he lost but never really let go captured my heart from the very beginning. Kara and Dean have a true love story that is filled with good memories, bad decisions and a heartfelt need that has never been truly satisfied.

Many things have changed in seven years. Dean Jacobs left his abusive home and his girl behind after he finished high school to pursue his dreams as a musician. Since he couldn’t have her he poured all his love for Kara into his music and she became the inspiration for every word, every chorus that he sang. She made him famous and very rich. He thought that he was protecting her from his rock star madness by leaving her behind. But he couldn’t really leave her behind when he sang to her every night. Kara has gone on with her life and pursued her own career path. She’s happy and settled… maybe not as happy as she could be. One thing for sure is that she never wanted to see Dean Jacobs again. Neither of them have a choice when Dean’s bad boy present collides head on with his best forgotten past. Dean needs Kara and is willing to make a deal in order to get out of trouble and save his career. But leave it to Kara… she’s not going to make things easy for him. At all.

The course of true love never ever runs smooth, especially when the public, paparazzi and the painful past try to run that love off the road.

This book reminded so much of my seventeen year old self. At that age, you fall in love so deeply and it is an all encompassing, all consuming endeavor. It is rare to meet your forever at that age. It is more likely to meet your right at that moment and enjoy the moment for all that it’s worth. Still, there are those lucky ones that meet their forever in the confusing teen years and manage to navigate the crazy twenties with that love intact. Dean so loved Kara, even at a tender age and no matter what it would cost him, he wanted that love back. He wanted the songs to be for real. Try as hard as she could, there was no denying for Kara that Dean’s place in her heart would never be filled by career or anything else but him.

I loved this story! Oh, there were moments that I wanted to throttle them both. Their fighting and snide remarks made me want to scream! All credit certainly goes to Carrie for creating a story that pulls on the reader’s heart and soul. It’s hard not to fall for the bad boy who pours everything he feels for the girl of his dreams into his music and then shares it with the rest of the world. Dean may be flawed but he is perfect. Kara may be stubborn but she’s also very wise. The heart can be fooled and she chose to be mindful of that. I had to admire her strength and her belief in Dean.

This was just GOOD reading! I miss Dean and Kara and their second chance to get love right. Fantastic storytelling, Carrie!

As Long As You Hate Me Teaser 1

synopsis.jpg

Kara

High school sweethearts. What a load of bull.

He might have been my first love, but it never meant I wanted to hear lyrics containing my name, love story, and *cringe* how I lost my virginity peddled out for the masses to digest.

Seven years later, and I’m still being haunted by his photo in every magazine, his music on every radio station. I thought breakups meant that you never had to see the person again. Especially when they ripped out your heart and made hamburger meat with it.

But when a chance encounter ends up going viral, I’m tied to him in a way I’ve always dreaded. And the last person on earth I’d want to spend an hour with, much less a lifetime, makes me an offer I can’t refuse. I might just be desperate enough to take it.

Dean

The girl in the song is real. And she’s made me a rich man.

I’ve been dedicating choruses to her for a decade, she’s the muse she never wanted to be. Off of our love, I’ve become famous … and a complete egomaniac.

When another one of my flings goes off the rails, and lands me in hot water with the media, my recording label is less than thrilled. And so comes the marching orders from my agent; devise a scheme to transform into a squeaky clean good guy.

Coming face to face with her is something I’ve only dreamed about. If not to win her back, then to at least apologize for the ways I’ve exploited her. Instead, I rope her into my madness, proposing a deal only a masochist would accept.

Review – Last Call by Felice Stevens and Christina Lee

 5 out of 5 stars

I can’t even tell you how excited I was when I saw this book being released. Christina and Felice are two of my absolute favorite authors. Them coming together to give us not 2 but 3 men, I was ecstatic. I knew I was in for a sweet and sexy journey. They absolutely nailed it. You won’t want to part with your kindle until you read the last word, and even then you’ll crave more. These 3 were sinfully delicious but also vulnerable which made you love them even more. I hope these two get together to collaborate again in the future.
All 3 men had grown up in less than ideal circumstances. It helps you relate to their characters more when you read the hardships they faced growing up. Emery, who lost his mother as a teenager, lived his life on the road with the circus. When the circus shut down a few years ago, he drifting from town to town in search of work and slept in his car. He gets more than he bargained for when he steps into Last Call hustling money with his a wrestling. He winds up with no way to escape and nowhere to go.
Quinn and Gray have been best friends since they were kids. They both are hiding feelings for each other that they both refuse to confess for  fear of ruining their friendship if the other doesn’t feel the same. Quinn is the kind caring soul while Gray is the more silent and brooding type. Quinn can’t help but offer to help Emery while Gray is resistant and untrusting. When Quinn can no longer hide his attraction to Emery, Gray can’t bear to watch.
Emery brings them all together, but will the existing feelings between Quinn and Gray overpower the relationship between the 3 of them, or will they make it work? Get ready for a journey of finding love, acceptance, and exploration. It will truly warm you heart and ignite flames of passion.

BLURB

Quinn Monahan and Grayson Page have been friends since high school. Despite their differences, they’ve been there for each other through thick and thin. Opening Last Call together, a bar tucked away in the small town of Heartsville, PA seemed a natural progression—even if it makes it harder to live with the secret longing they’ve always had for each other.

Hoping to score an easy buck and a place to sleep, unemployed circus roadie Emery Woods chooses Last Call to run a few bets and enjoy a decent beer before moving on. When he finds himself stranded, the unexpected kindness Quinn and Gray show him leads to temporary work and a couch to lay his head. Sensing unresolved history between Quinn and Gray, he squashes his immediate draw to the men, opting to avoid trouble. But as days turn into weeks, denying the attraction is easier said than done.

When the men finally give in to the simmering sexual tension, it quickly develops into more than a way to pass the lonely nights. And as they begin to lean on each other for emotional support, it becomes nearly impossible to think of one man without the other two. But while Quinn and Gray are afraid to cross the line of friendship between them, Emery fears once they do, he’ll quickly be cast aside. A real family is finally within their grasp, but unless the men can learn to trust each other, they just might miss their hearts’ last call home.

EXCERPT

Holy fucking hell. That had been one of the best orgasms of my life.

As the fog in my brain began to clear, Quinn stood up and hesitantly swiped at his mouth as if unsure of himself all over again. The fact that he’d just sucked me off didn’t seem lost on him. But Christ, it had been incredible, like a damned gift.

Something sharp pierced inside my chest, and I did the only thing that came to mind. I gripped his face and fused our mouths together. He whimpered, his fingers clutching at my waist and he sank against me as if in relief.

My tongue flicked out to brush briefly against his before pushing past his lips and finally—finally—tasting all of him. I sucked on his tongue and lips, jaw and throat, as his hands skimmed over my back, his nails digging into my hips, leaving scarcely a sliver of space between us.

“Gray,” he moaned against my lips as I entwined our fingers and pulled them behind his back. Our chests slicked together, our groins pressing, our mouths meeting in deep and bruising kisses. The room faded away, the sound blotted, and all I could focus on was devouring my best friend’s mouth.

Felice Stevens has always been a romantic at heart. While life is tough, she believes there is a happy ending for everyone. She started reading traditional historical romances as a teenager, then life and law school got in the way. It wasn’t until she picked up a copy of Bertrice Small and became swept away to Queen Elizabeth’s court that her interest in romance novels was renewed.

But somewhere along the way, her reading shifted to stories of men falling in love. Once she picked up her first gay romance, she became so enamored of the character-driven stories and the overwhelming emotion there was no turning back.

Felice lives in New York City with her husband and two children. Her day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. Although she practices law, she daydreams of a time when she can sit by a beach and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be some angst along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.
