The Bachelor Auction by Rachel Van Dyken

The Bachelor Auction by Rachel Van Dyken, is a sweet, modern twist on the classic tale Cinderella. I am a HUGE Disney fan and this story that Rachel has penned perfectly ticked many of my bookworm boxes.

Brock & Jane were a brilliant pairing, both downtrodden and suffering from the impact of controlling, demanding family. These characters made me feel for them, smile and swoon. Once free from the clutches of the family, Brock and Jane really blossomed. It was a joy and pleasure to read.

My only downside of this book, and the reason for my four star rating is purely due to the book being in the 3rd person. I cannot say anything bad against the story or Rachel’s writing which was just WOW, as always. The 3rd person perspective stopped me from being totally connected to the characters. I missed some of the deeper internal perspective we get from 1st person stories. I must say though, this is just MY personal preference/perspective. The story, the writing is GREAT.

Rachel, remains to be one of those authors whose books I love no matter what. And I do love this one. It’s a beautiful tale, of breaking free and doing things for yourself.

The Bachelor Auction is a story you should curl up in a blanket with and fall in love with. Because you WILL.

Cinderella never had to deal with this crap.

I absolutely loved this book. A first temptress and an undercover cop both with A history together. They spent some unbelievable hot months together. Review- Dominate Me by Stacey Lynn

My rating 5 out of 5 stars

This book was a perfect blend of spice and heartfelt love. When you read the title, you assume that you’re getting a scorchingly hot read (which you absolutely do), but this book is so much more. There is passion. There is heartache. There is despair. There is love. There is devotion. There is overcoming the chains of the past the bind you to a life of sorrow.

As you read it, you will he consumed. Both Jensen and Haley are broken inside. Their pasts have seriously affected there view on relationships. Neither is looking for more than a strict Dom/sub experience. They never expected to fall hard and fast. Obstacles get in the way and both of their pasts come back to haunt them. Waiting to see how they make it will be what makes your heart complete.

I’m very much looking forward to the next two books in this series. Stacey has once again outdone herself, but I wouldn’t expect anything less. She has proven time and time again to deliver a full package when you turn the first page.

CAPTIVATING..
That’s the word I’d use to describe what this book has been to me. I wanted to devour this book whole. Feast on the goodness I knew it would possess but when I got going I found that this would be a book I’d need to savour and take my time with. This was a book that I could not rush, would not rush, because this book was so damn breathtaking. From page one this book consumed my thoughts, pulled at the deepest parts of me and wrapped itself around my heart.
What book am I talking about? Intertwined by the amazingly talented, beautiful Sasha Brümmer.

Intertwined sparked a fire deep inside me. A soul-deep, burning flame of love and desire, lust and devastating beauty. Liam and Isla were two of the most beautiful, battered souls I’ve read. So perfect for each other. Breathtaking and intense. Their relationship battered me, latched itself onto me and blissfully dragged me along with them.

People who know me know that I feed off angst and friends to lovers romances.. Intertwined is now, undoubtedly, one of my favourites. Everything about this book spoke to me. It made me FEEL. I laughed, I swooned, I got VERY hot under the collar and I cried. I cried so hard. At times Intertwined was hard to stomach, hard to process, it stole my breath and broke my heart but through it all ran an UNDENIABLE connection. A connection that melted the pages. A connection that blossomed and burnt hotter than the biggest fire.

That connection is what built an exceptional romance between two best friends, one that brought true meaning to second chances, not only at love but LIFE. Sasha bought together two souls that were seemingly doomed and breathed life into them and me as the reader.

Those two souls have embedded themselves so deep in me, I honestly cannot fathom how I’ll ever get them out. I don’t want to get them out.

Liam-fucking-Jensen has my heart, my soul, my breath, my blood. He can have it all. Every damn thing. Forever. This alpha asshole well and truly ruined me. BIG TIME. His cocky arrogance and deep protective nature made me crazy.
Matched perfectly to Liam was Isla who despite everything she endured was incredibly strong, uplifting and just a pleasure to get to know. She is a kick ass heroine and I adore her. Sasha wrote her in such an impeccable way.

Anyone who reads this book, that has a male best friend or has had one previously will just get the connection between Liam and Isla, you’ll understand how deep they do actually blend into one another and you’ll appreciate every single truthful word Sasha has penned in Intertwined.

This whole novel is deep, intense, raw and downright devastating in parts but it’s also so damn stunning. I have no idea how Sasha penned these characters and made them so strong but she did and I wouldn’t change a single thing.

In its entirety, Intertwined is PHENOMENAL. And it sucks that I don’t have enough stars to truly rate this book all it’s actually worth.

Amplified emotional highs have been my downfall. I’ve lost parts of myself to the dark corners of my heart because of the damage others have inflicted.

Whiskey might be able to ease the burn of one’s soul, but this time it might not be enough to survive. Instead of letting me wither in the cracks of my desiccated soul, he pushes me to appreciate the scars, instead of avoiding the bruises.

I’ve had more than my share of sanctioned hell, and I am through living in a limbo between who I should be and who I am. I won’t allow myself to become a casualty of my own mind again.

I am no longer carrying the obscurities of my life around with me when he chooses to stand and fight beside me.

With him, I finally see what it means to be living.

This novel contains mature themes, strong language, violent circumstances, and sexual situations. It is intended for adult readers.

Review- Clam Jam by RC Boldt

My Rating is 5 out of 5 stars

This book was so much more than a romantic comedy. I knew it was going to be a good book because, hello, its RC Boldt. This woman is so talented that I just can’t wait to read the next book. I started off laughing my a** off, but quickly progressed to finding myself so immersed that I didn’t put this book down once. I read from beginning to end in one sitting. One minute I’m laughing so hard, then I’m crying emotional tears, then back to laughing so hard I cried. This book was definitely perfect in every way.

Maggie comes home from work early one day to find her fiancee sleeping with another woman in their bed. She kicks him to the curb immediately. She then finds herself needing a new roommate because her rent is so pricy. She is determined that it has to be a gay man because she wants nothing to do with men right now and she definitely doesn’t want a catty female either. So when she lays eyes on Ryland, she is cursing herself inwardly, until he figures out what’s going on and plays the gay card.

Ryland just knows she’s the one. He will stop.at nothing to have her, even pretending to be gay to get close. He has no clue how bad this plan will backfire in the end. When Maggie decides she is ready to Date again, he takes it upon himself to be a CLAM JAMMER. How dare he. LMAO. This is where it gets even more hilarious.

This book made my night. I can’t wait for it to be released to the world. You all will definitely fall in love just like I did.

“Clam Jam”

Review – Drunk on Love by S.L. Scott

Drunk on Love by S.L. Scott

I feel as though I’m glowing. Maybe it’s because I’m drunk on Drunk on Love. Maybe because this new release from SL Scott was so light, fresh and fun. Not to mention really sexy and oh so hot!

Hardy & Virginia are just so likeable. So easy to connect with. From the first meet they have a very strong, very intense, passionate connection that just SIZZLES and BURNS!

I ADORED that this book was written from Hardy’s POV, the all male outlook was so refreshing and powerful. He dragged me so deep into his story, into his heart and now he’s fully in mine. SL writes such good male characters that you can’t help but fall for, although this has a bigger comedic feel from her other books, the standard of the male character is still just as strong. Just as loveable and oh so adorable.
Drunk on Love is so uplifting, the storyline so different from many others. SL writes the whole thing so fluidly, so flawlessly, so beautifully. Everything about it, from beginning to end made me smile and it gave me all those warm, fuzzy feels.

Drunk on Love is an outstanding read that is worth so many more than the 5 stars I can give!

There are only two rules:

1. Don’t get too close.

2. Don’t fall in love.

Correction: Don’t ever fall in love. I don’t need the baggage of relationships. Life should be simple, easy, uncomplicated.

The problem I’m faced with is, if I really believe life should be that easy, that uncomplicated, and that simple, then why am I still thinking about a woman I met on a random Tuesday at the bar? A girl who was never a Gimlet, and always a Paloma. Yep, I called it all wrong last night and I’m starting to wonder if my heart will pay the price.

I might have broken rule number one, but rule number two remains firmly intact. For now. Sort of. Okay, maybe rule two hasn’t been broken, but it’s definitely been bent.

Review – Room Service by Poppy Dunne

This is one of the funniest, swooniest, most incredibly romantic stories I have read in a lomg time. I mean, big belly washing laughs! Laugh out loud, snorting moments. Poppy’s debut is definitely not one to be missed.

Alex Harrington only wanted a couple of things – a great act to save her boss’s club and even better room service to fuel that search. It wouldn’t hurt either if she didn’t have to face her ex at her brother’s wedding. Too bad her well meaning mother is rubbing her ex in her face and that she’s coming alone – good men are so hard to find! Never fear! In walks the sexiest solution to her dilemna… a delectable room service waiter named Ben. He agrees to help Alex by pretending to be her boyfriend for the weekend. He fills the bill so well, even better than Alex could have ever dreamed! Maybe even too well… from the start they have so much chemistry. He’s charming, funny and ridiculously sexy. In her haste to have revenge against a thoughtless ex-boyfriend and get her nosy mother off her back, Alex may have gotten herself in a little over her head. But boy, what a way to go!

Poppy, what a fabulous debut you have made! A beautifully written, well paced story… a sexy, witty leading man and his strong willed curvy lady. Ben and Alex aren’t your typical couple and their love story made me just so happy. And don’t forget the LAUGHS! I can’t help but giggle and highly recommend this amazing story!

FANTASTIC, POPPY!

5 Laugh out loud Stars!

I’ve spent seven nights cooped up in this five star hotel, sleeping on 1000 thread count sheets and working sixteen hours a day. At least room service is covered under my expense account. But all work and no play leaves a girl dateless for her brother’s wedding.

Prospects aren’t totally bleak, though. Four meals a day, I get to drool over this sexy room service guy: he’s got a perfect body, easy smile, and a sense of humor that has me snorting over my personal pizza. He’s all that and a bag of chips. Specifically, the jumbo bag of ranch barbecue chips that I ordered for breakfast out of desperation on Day Four.

I finally found the courage to ‘accidentally’ let my bathrobe slip, and ask him to be my plus one at my brother’s wedding. So maybe I had to offer him a little money. So what? There’s no way I can face my family, make my ex rue the day he left me, or screw off this work stress without his helping hand.

But what happens when I find myself falling for my fake, paid-for boyfriend? Judging by the comped mozzarella sticks he brought me for breakfast, maybe there’s a chance he’s falling for me too?

Pim may not speak, but her unspoken words speak to Elder. Their connection is a magnetic force, one forged by fate. Oh did I love their beautiful bond!

“He was no longer just Elder. My savior and captor. He was so, so much more. And it hurt because I wanted to know how deep that more went. It seemed like I wasn’t the only one.”

Pim is a bird in a cage struggling to be free. Though despite the hardship through the pits of hell, Pim is a warrior armed with her head in a battle of wills that aided her through the abuse, and the aftermath where her body is healing from internal and external breaks and bruises. I admired her courage and tenacity so much!

“She wanted to be normal. Despite her fighting me, she secretly hoped I’d smash her cage and teach her how to be free.”

Pim is beautiful despite being battered and bruised. A fallen angel fighting for her life, Pim looks ethereal with a glow that accentuates her beauty and strength, inside and out. Elder can’t get this goddess out of his head or heart.

“Forget the past and only remember this.”

(His lips crashed against mine.)

Oh did I SWOON! I did not expect Elder to melt me to mush, but he surprised me in the best way, making me fall for him even harder!

The chemistry between these two mostly strangers is fire-hot…a slow burn. Passion that permeates from a mere look. Understanding from a shared bond that neither can grasp nor get.

“I didn’t want to fall. I want to fly. With him.”

I LOVED ELDER, MY DARK HERO, SO MUCH!!! He is complex and caring, and dark and dangerous. Pim is breaking through her shell and rediscovering Tasmin. This jilted bird is spreading her wings, preparing to fly, and it’s all because of her dark king who wants his captivating queen. Elder can only hope that his beautiful bird—his soul mate—doesn’t fly home to her past life.

Oh did Dollars STEAL MY HEART, picking up some of the pieces that Pennies shattered. Dollars is hope and heart, strength and salvation, and love and war. Dollars was the hurricane to my heart, the fire to my feels, and the calm to my soul-slaying storm. Ups and downs. Twists and turns. Bruises and burns. I went on a roller coaster of a ride of gut-wrenching heartbreak fused with happiness and hope. I was utterly immersed and intoxicated, completely overcome by this story. I FELT EVERYTHING!

I felt every word I read in this pulse-pounding UNPUTDOWNABLE soul-searing story. Dollars bared its soul to me and stole mine. The spellbinding and spine-tingling Dollars shook my soul, grabbed my gut, and hit my heart so hard that my emotions bled long after the story was over. DOLLARS OWNED EVERY PART OF ME.

I lived Dollars. I breathed Dollars. I was bound to Dollars. I became Dollars, a story worth billions in gold. OH DID I FALL HARD IN LOVE!!! I did not want to deposit my Dollars; I wanted to keep every last word…every last feel…every last cent of Dollars to myself.

The best books are like a kiss: sweet, scorching, soul-searing, tender, and thrilling. Filthy Rich by Raine Miller cast a spell on me like an all-encompassing kiss—seducing and scorching me—as it spread light and love all over my heart and soul. This sensational story kissed me everywhere, and I fell in utter love from my head to my toes. I surrendered myself to Filthy Rich, this spellbinding story that struck my soul and hijacked my heart. I could not help but FALL FAST IN LOVE. HOOK. LINE. SINKER.

It felt like utter bliss to be reunited with the Blackstone family after years of first falling for Ethan Blackstone of The Blackstone Affair series. Oh was a sweet reunion is was to be reacquainted with a Raine Miller book, one of more Blackstones. I was in heaven before I began!

From the very first line of Filthy Rich, I fell in insta-love, swooning at this story’s sweetness. Filthy Rich lit a fire of feels that burned bright, stoking my soul where I felt the passion pouring through the pages. Each page carved out meaning, a love of life. The beauty in these words breathed life, this book a breath of fresh air radiating love and light that wrapped around me like a hug, so warm and wondrous.

Watch out Ethan, I’ve found my new favorite Blackstone, Caleb, and I’m not letting him go! Caleb is PURE PERFECTION! Review – Black and White Flowers by Rachel Robinson

Black and White Flowers has well and truly owned me in the 24 hours it’s taken me to read it. It’s stole my heart, it’s crushed my soul, blown my mind and left me deliriously happy. I cannot even begin to describe the amount of emotions this book DRAGGED me through, if it exists, I FELT IT.

Everything from the heart breaking beginning of Carina, to the heat inducing meeting with Smith, to the complete OBLITERATION of ME was written with such beauty and precision.

I absolutely adored how this book played out, the angst lover in me is on cloud nine right now because holy heck did this book pull me in ALL directions. Carina and Smith are so perfect for one another, they know it, we as the reader know it, side characters know it but it’s never that simple. Love and honor play HUGE parts in this book. They are also huge enemies. I found myself at different points completely swooning over Smith and then getting majorly upset over Smith. But at the end, I LOVE him. He’s a stunning individual, his love and affection roots deep, his honor even deeper.. He’s sex and sin. Utterly gorgeous and dangerous to the heart.

When I read a book, character development is a big thing for me. I like to travel a journey with the characters I’m reading about, I like to see them grow and come out the end new and improved, better. The way Rachel wrote Carina in this book was FANTASTIC! Honestly, I LOVED watching her character grow, build in strength and power. Experience love instead of all the hate and pain. I loved that she was a writer and how the story twisted into her own was insanely clever.

At times this book was not easy to read, it was painful, but blissfully breathtaking. Sounds strange I know, like I say, it’s the angst. The deep rooting connection I felt to these characters was my downfall because I was all in, like head over heels in love with everything about them. So reading parts of this story was hard. But with the pain comes the pleasure and this book is a pleasure dome of words and feelings all wrapped up in a perfectly poignant package.
