Review – Mr. Big by Delancey Stewart

Mr. Big by Delancey Stewart

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I first met Mr. Big, I thought it would be the typical super sexy story of an employee-boss romance. I was wrong…totally wrong. Delancey Stewart wrote SO MUCH MORE! Mr. Big is a love story of TRAGEDY and TENACITY, FEELS and FATE, and DREAMS and DESTINY. This romance wholeheartedly CAPTIVATED ME, calling to my heart and soul, CONSUMING ME from beginning to end. Mr. Big is a fierce fusion of smolder, sweetness, sass, sadness, strength, and swoon.

The hot and heartbreaking hero, Oliver Cody, is one you’ll both love and hate. Arrogant, brooding, kind, and temperamental, Oliver is a high-profile sports company CEO. This talented executive is battling demons in and out of the office. Oliver is one walking storm, a mix of dark and light.

Until light eclipsed his shade known as beautiful Holland O’Dell, a name and woman as stunning as the country….

Holland O’Dell was the first spot of color I’d seen in two months.

Beautiful Holland is out to prove she has what it takes to be a smart and powerful woman in a typical man’s world of sports. Though part of her plans don’t involve falling for her hot boss. I loved this heroine, admiring her drive and resilience.

“You saw me.” He stares into my eyes for a second. “Even when you hated me, you saw me.”

I MELTED from these sad and swoon-filled words where I FELT ALL THE FEELS!

This kiss wasn’t gentle and soft, it didn’t ask for permission. It felt like he was staking a claim, as if he sought to possess me.

This kiss POSSESSED ME, blazing and burning, lighting me on fire. I felt the passion and promise permeate the pages.

“No one ever chose me.” Her eyes shut and the tears squeezed past her lashes.

“I do,” I whispered into her hair. “I choose you.”

The excitement had me ON EDGE, biting my nails in both angst and anticipation. The push and pull was HEADY, a force that made my head spin. The torment was the perfect mix of sweet and sexy. The sexual tension lit me on fire. I wanted to shove this heroine and hero together so many times!

ENCHANTING and EMOTIONALLY-CHARGED, Mr. Big makes your head spin and soul soar in one heart-pounding whirlwind of an employee-boss romance. You’ll adore the heroine, and both love and loathe the hero in one spellbinding story of surprises. A slow burn of a romance, Mr. Big is PASSION MEETS PROMISE, a push-and-pull of angst-ridden goodness. Mr. Big is BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN, a tale that can’t help but twist around your heart.

“Sometimes we’re ready for things when we don’t think we are.”

💋💋💋💋 big and beautifully broken kisses

Once upon a time, I had everything: money, power, a multimillion-dollar company, a loving family. Well, at least I thought I had everything. Then my parents died, and I found out my whole life was based on a lie. That’s pretty much the moment when I went numb. Told the world to f*** off and went on a bender of epic proportion, just to see how far I could fall before I hit rock-bottom.

Now I’m back and all I want in this world is my morning—okay, afternoon—coffee. Then one of my employees has the nerve to call me out for cutting the line at the coffeehouse at the company I own. Sure, I’m a little scruffier than usual, but come on, bitching out the CEO? Not a smart career move. Just who does this smart-mouthed ball-buster think she is? And more important, what do I have to do to get her number?

Holland O’Dell may be uptight, but I wouldn’t mind taking her back to my place and ripping off that business-casual blouse/skirt combo and burying myself in her curves. She pushes my buttons, but at least I’m feeling something. And whatever it is, I won’t stop until I get more.

Review – Porter by Georgia Cates

Porter by Georgia Cates

Porter is the final book in the Lovibond series and I’m super sad to see it end! I’ve loved all these books and while Porter wasn’t my favourite of the three is was still a brilliant story that I devoured.

Porter & Frankee have an instant connection. They are breathtaking. SUPER HOT. Georgia wrote these two so well. They matched perfectly.

Porter is quick paced, it holds the reader captive and refuses to let go.

Craft beer and the sexy men who brew it.

My employee’s daughter. The tomboy. The kid who once did odd jobs around the brewery. That’s all she was… until three years passed and she walked into my office for an interview.

Frankee Dawson is no longer that girl I once called Kiddo. She’s grown into a beautiful, sexy, desirable woman. Very desirable. And that’s a problem. She’s my employee’s daughter. Lovibond family. And too young for me. Too innocent.

I want to feel her respond to my kiss.

I want her body to tremble as she anticipates my touch.

I want to learn all the places that bring her pleasure.

But mostly I want her to know that she’s never truly been loved by a man until me.

Frankee is my intern and under me for the summer. Literally. It’s a difficult secret to maintain when you can’t keep your hands off each other.

This was supposed to be a hot summer fling. Sex and fun without commitment. That’s what we called it. But we were wrong. This is more. I’ve never felt this way about a woman. Never cared more about someone else’s happiness more than my own.

I love her. And I’m happy, so damn happy… until a terrible mistake from my past springs forward and threatens to rip us apart.

There are a million reasons for her to leave me. And trust me, she should. But all I really need is one good reason for her to stay.

Review – Under The Boardwalk by Felice Stevens

Summer love. What could be better? Secret meetings under the boardwalk, stolen kisses, self discovery. All of this was intermingled in a novella.

He doesn’t feel whole. He has, however, had his eye on the sexy guy who sings every day on the boardwalk. Little does he know, his life is about to change.
Cam is a music teacher and spends his spare time on the boardwalk singing and getting tips. He has had his eye on the handsome guy at the custard shop. He’s been watching him for years. When he catches Alexi watching him, he takes his chance and is so surprised that Alexi is also gay.
These two have a whirlwind romance in a brief time. They face challenges left and right, but in the end, love will prevail.

Under the Boardwalk an all-new, heart-warming MM romance by Felice Stevens is available NOW!

Under the Boardwalk
by Felice Stevens
Publication Date: August 10th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary MM Romance

Beneath the famous Brooklyn landmark, love is hidden but not denied:

All his life, Alexi Kharpov has dreamed of traveling to unknown exciting places instead of working at his family’s frozen custard stand on the famous Coney Island boardwalk. Every year is the same until a gorgeous man picks a spot in front of his stand to sing, captivating him with his beautiful voice. After two summers of listening, it might finally be the time for him to cross that boardwalk and take a chance.

Opera singer Cameron Maxwell has traveled the world, but the sight of the beautiful man serving custard to tourists touches his heart like nothing ever has before. A summer fling might be exactly what he needs to put his problems out of his mind, but the last thing Cam expects is to want the summer to last forever.

It’s a season of discovery for both men who learn to dig deep within their heads and hearts to decide whether secrets old and new should remain buried, or if love is too important to keep hidden under the boardwalk.

“I didn’t mean to shut you out before.” Cam faced him and held him around the waist. Their bodies meshed perfectly, and Alexi felt the weight of Cam’s chest and thighs press into his body.

“I hate talking about the past. You can’t change it, so what’s the point of rehashing things? I’m all about the present and the future.”

Cam’s mouth covered his, and Alexi held on to Cam’s hips as their tongues played against each other. He lost touch with the sound of the ocean; all he could hear was the furious pounding of his heart and Cam’s heavy breathing.

“All the time I watched you this summer, thinking you were cute and fun, never once imagining how much I’d like you.”

“I thought about you all summer too.” No longer shy about admitting it, Alexi nuzzled into the crook of Cam’s neck. “I guess it was a good thing we finally decided to say hello.”

“A good thing?” Cam took his face between the palms of his hands, and Alexi’s heart burst with happiness; he tried not to smile but failed.

“I think so, don’t you?”

“Yeah. The best.”

I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending around the corner, My characters have to work for it, however. Like life in NYC, nothing comes easy and that includes love, but getting there is oh so fun and oh so sexy.

I live in New York City with my husband and two children. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass (or two of red wine). I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there are bound to be a few bumps along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.

Review – The Soul Mate by Kendall Ryan

The Soul Mate by Kendall Ryan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Just SIGH! Kendall Ryan has written her SWEETEST STORY YET! I’m still basking in the sun of The Soul Mate. I’m still SMILING and GLOWING from this lovely love story. I’m still FLOATING on CLOUD NINE from the spell The Soul Mate left behind!!!

Sometimes a one-night stand is not just a hot romp; it’s so much more. It’s a kiss that touches more than the body. It’s not just sex in the sheets; it’s a connection felt everywhere: body, heart, and soul.

It was more than chemistry—it was sheer animal connection, and I knew, even from that first, innocent kiss, that she could feel it too. Our connection was unlike anything I’d ever felt.

Beautiful Bren had the best one-night stand ever with a gorgeous guy who rocked her world. One night was all she wanted but more than many nights later, she is still thinking about the man who took her to ecstasy land.

Jesus, he was like a drug. One taste and I wanted to mainline him straight to the vein.

Mason, AKA Dr. Dreamy, is a hot doc who can examine me anytime. I LOVED him and his dirty mouth, big heart, and sweet soul. Mason had me SMITTEN!!! I LOVED Mr. Romance!

Neither Bren nor Mason can forget that hot and mind-dizzying night. It’s as if their combustible connection is one forged by fate. One of soul mates.

“It’s not just me—you’re feeling this, right?”

The Soul Mate is ALL OF THE SWOON! Sexy meets sweetness in The Soul Mate, a love story that makes the heart flutter and the soul swoon! This love story is ENCHANTING and ENDEARING, one where you will smile and swoon the whole time reading. The Soul Mate is a WHIRLWIND of a ROMANCE that makes the HEART DANCE! A Hallmark love story in words, The Soul Mate is ROMANCE HEAVEN…my soul mate indeed!

“You can’t live life in fear, kid.”

“What if it’s the only thing distracting me from how my heart is breaking?”

“Sometimes, you have to let it break. That’s the only way it’s going to heal.”

💋💋💋💋 swoon-filled ‘Soul Mate’ kisses

Review~ A little bit like love by Brooke Blaine

A little bit like love Brooke Blaine
A first read for me of Brooke Blaine and a little off the usual path off book I read however I really enjoyed Brooke’s writing style and will definitely be reading more.
The chemistry between Lucas and Jackson burns to the point of leaving your kindle a smouldering mess. This story is filled with angst, characters that you do want to love and my God can they be frustrating at times. The side characters in this book leave you needing to know more from them. A second chance, going back, never giving up on love.

What if you had everything in the world you wanted…except the man you’d left behind?

Jackson Davenport, the charismatic, strait-laced heir to the Davenport fortune, has a secret. One he’s been hiding since he graduated from South Haven all-boys academy—and that secret’s name is Lucas.

When a work trip takes Jackson back to his old stomping grounds, memories of the year he shared with Lucas come crashing to the surface. With growing pressure from his father to settle down and take over the family business, Jackson knows he’s on borrowed time, and sets out to find the free-spirited daredevil he once knew.

But Lucas isn’t the same man he was eight years ago.

One night. A shattered heart. And an endless parade of nameless faces. Lucas Sullivan is South Haven’s ultimate playboy, a reputation he’s honed since the only boy he ever loved left without a trace. To the world, he’s brash and confident, an in-demand artist who spends his days designing one-of-a-kind pieces and his nights as king of the downtown scene.

Many have tried and failed to get past the barrier he’s carefully constructed, but it’s the shy, studious boy he once coaxed out of his shell who still haunts him.

Maybe it was a mistake. Maybe it was lust. Or maybe…it was a little bit like love.

WITH THE NOTE from Principal Stewart crumpled in my fist, I stalked away from his office, away from the words I knew would haunt me forever.

“I’m sorry, Jackson. Your father is quite…insistent you return to Connecticut immediately.”

Immediately…immediately… With every echo of that word through my mind, my heart battered my chest, the ache to rip itself free of my body a plea I was helpless to honor.

There was only one reason he would’ve demanded I leave South Haven before the end of classes next week. My father had been adamant I receive the best education his money afforded, choosing to ship me down to south Georgia to attend the most prestigious all-boys academy in the country. I’d done him proud, rising to the top of my class, and I’d been practicing my salutatorian speech for days. Skipping out on graduation and the pomp and circumstance and recognition that came with it? Out of the question. Which could only mean one thing.

He knew. Somehow he knew.

That was the only explanation for the letter in my hand, for the abrupt dismissal this late in the evening and this close to the end of the school year. My father hadn’t gotten to where he was by being stupid or blind, and I’d seriously underestimated how many eyes and ears had been watching me during my four years. Although it would’ve only been the whispers over the last few months that piqued his interest, only the last eight that he would’ve had any reason to give me a second thought.

And that reason wasn’t a what—it was a who.

The halls of the St. John’s dormitory were silent when I entered, all the students down at the mess hall for dinner, followed by the final bonfire of the year. So there wouldn’t be anyone around to see me sneak down the hall to where I knew I shouldn’t be going but couldn’t help myself. My feet seemed to move of their own accord, the countdown to my utter devastation causing me to pick up the pace. The private plane would arrive in a handful of hours, giving me just enough time to pack my things, but there was no way I could leave without a goodbye. Not going to happen.

I wasn’t ready. I was supposed to have more time. As a cold sweat of panic seized me, I balled the letter tighter in my fist and chucked it into one of the trash bins as I passed.

Screw my father. Screw the life he’d set out for me, the one I was destined to live and hate with every fiber of my being. I wanted to bottle up every one of his expectations and throw the blasted thing out at an angry sea to swallow up and tear apart instead.

I wished it could be as easy as that. I’d been able to fool myself into a sense of freedom, but the cell door was about to smash shut on every dream I’d let myself have these past few months.

His private dorm was at the end of the long hall, last one on the right, and I rapped on it twice fast, waited a moment, and then repeated the pattern that we used for each other. A few seconds later, the door swung open, and seeing the sole object of my daily and nightly thoughts standing there in front of me with a mixture of surprise and delight in his eyes made me think that coming here had been a mistake. It was only going to sink the dagger in farther.

“Hey…I thought we were meeting la—” Lucas’s words cut off and the smile curling his lips fell as he got a good look at my face. “What’s wrong?”

You should tell him. Tell him what’s going on and that it isn’t your fault. Look him in the eye when you tell him you can never see him again.

A shooting pain tore through my chest as I realized what this goodbye actually meant. I wasn’t saying I wouldn’t be seeing him for the next couple of days or weeks. When I left South Haven’s campus in the early hours of the morning, I wouldn’t be seeing him again…ever.

God, can I do this? Break his heart as well as mine?

No…no, I couldn’t tell him. He’d look for me, find me, and there was no telling what my father would do if that happened. The letter had been my old man’s warning. Disobeying his orders would mean consequences neither of us were prepared for.

“Jackson?” Lucas’s voice dropped low, and then he looked past me out into the deserted hall. When he didn’t see anyone to blame on my current state, he frowned and waited for an answer.

The words didn’t come, though, so I stood there staring at him, taking a mental snapshot that I’d store away in a place no one could find and destroy. His black hair was casually tousled, and I knew him well enough to know he’d worried his hands through it, maybe wondering if I wouldn’t follow through on our plans tonight. He wore a simple grey t-shirt and low-slung jeans on his long and lean frame, and the swirl of black tattoos he’d recently inked on his tanned skin could be seen peeking around his right bicep before disappearing from view behind the thin material of his shirt. He was striking, both in looks and personality, and to say I hadn’t been expecting the force that was Lucas Sullivan when he’d transferred to the academy eight months ago was an understatement.

Quite simply, I’d been lost to him the first time I laid eyes on him.

Forcing myself to shake off my dread, I said, “I’m okay,” and tried to believe it for his sake.

“Well, you look like hell.” He leaned against the doorway, one of those charming half-grins cocking up one side of his lips. “Hell on wheels, anyway. What’d you do, run all the way here?”

Not too far off there. I didn’t even remember crossing campus to get to his dorm until I was in front of the building.

When I didn’t laugh at his teasing, Lucas’s expression fell again and his brows pulled down, a crease forming between them as his eyes, the color of a stormy sky, gave me a thorough once-over, looking for the source of my pain. He was silent for a long moment, but he must’ve seen something he didn’t like, because he stiffened and his jaw clenched. Then he took a deep breath and let it out in a rush.

“Tell me.”

“Tell you what?” I asked.

Lucas shook his head, his arms going over his chest. “I’m not helping you out here. If you came here for a reason, get out with it.”

Did he know? He couldn’t. I’d only just found out myself, and… No. There was no way. “It’s…complicated.”

“Complicated?”

“Yes.”

Lucas gave a humorless chuckle. “Jackson Davenport, I knew you were scared, but I never took you for a coward. If you don’t want to do this, you can man the hell up and tell me to my face.”

“What are you… I’m not…” I ran my hand over my face, struggling to understand the conclusion he’d come to for why I was standing at his door. My lack of a poker face had put him on the defensive. He thought I was here to reject him. An idea so completely unfathomable to me that it made my stomach turn thinking about it. “Lucas…you’ve got this all wrong.”

“Do I?”

“Yes. I’m not here to—“ I almost said “end things with you,” but I didn’t want to lie to him. I never had and I never would. Instead, I said, “Fight with you. I don’t want to fight.”

“Then why are you here, Jackson?” he asked, and my gaze fell to his lips. I’d tasted those lips only a few times, not nearly enough to quench a starving man’s hunger. All these months I’d wasted, warring with myself in my head, never letting myself have the thing I wanted most. And now I was down to a matter of hours. It wasn’t enough, not nearly enough. But it was all I had, and I wasn’t wasting another second.

If I couldn’t tell Lucas how I felt about him, then I’d show him.

Finally.

Irrevocably.

And starting now.

About Brooke Blaine:

You could say Brooke Blaine was a book-a-holic from the time she knew how to read; she used to tell her mother that curling up with one at 4 a.m. before elementary school was her ‘quiet time.’ Not much has changed except for the espresso I.V. pump she now carries around and the size of her onesie pajamas.

She is the author of Flash Point, a romantic suspense standalone, as well as the co-author of the erotic series, A Desperate Man, with Ella Frank. The latter has scarred her conservative southern family for life, bless their hearts. Licked, a romantic comedy, will be released November 11th, 2015 and is the first in the L.A. Liaisons series.

Review – When I Need You by Lorelei James

When I Need You by Lorelei James

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There is nothing more exciting as meeting a new or new-to-me author’s words for the first time. It’s a HUGE HIGH like no other! Lorelei James’ writing is a fierce fusion of sugar and spice. CAPTIVATING and CHARMING, When I Need You hits the heart and blazes the body where you can’t help but MELT.

Jensen is PERFECTION!!! He is one HOT Swede who I pictured as Thor!!! His delicious dirty mouth is HEAVENLY!!!

“I am very, very good with my hands.”

This football star is an all alpha with a huge heart. You can’t help but FALL HARD for Jensen!

“I look at you, but I don’t always see you, Rowan.”

I found it hard to breathe.

Rowan is a strong heroine, so beautiful and brave. This single mama is a warrior woman: selfless and sweet. She is the perfect complement to Jensen.

The chemistry between Jensen and Rowan was palpable. This couple was on fire! Together, they were MAGNETIC!

I tasted the soft feminine flesh that glistened just for me. I demonstrated what every shudder, sigh, and gasp meant.

When I Need You is a SLOW BURN, a simmer of smolder, sweetness, and swoon. This sports romance made my heart dance! When I Need You is a tender and touching football fairytale. You can’t help but feel this story’s spell while reading.

“Now that I’ve had a taste of you?” I want more. I want it all.”

Rules are tossed aside when a pro football player join forces with a spitfire cheerleading coach in New York Times bestselling author Lorelei James’s brand-new romance…

Heir to Lund Enterprises and ladies’ man Jensen “The Rocket” Lund has three conditions when it comes to dating:

1) No single mothers

2) No cheerleaders

3) No medical personnel

So it makes no sense that he’s wildly attracted to Rowan Michaels, who breaks all three.

Rowan Michaels didn’t pass the rigorous requirements to become an athletic trainer and Vikings cheerleader in the hopes of landing a pro athlete: been there, done that, and she has a young son as proof that football players and fidelity don’t go hand in hand. When Rowan learns her new neighbor is Jensen Lund, the smoking-hot tight end who takes being neighborly to a whole new level, she’s grateful for the team’s strict “no fraternization” policy because the sexy man defines temptation.

But Jensen is intent on rushing straight to the goal line to prove to Rowan he’s much more than just a player…on and off the field. (less)

Review – Stubborn as a Mule by Juliette Poe

Stubborn as a Mule by Juliette Poe

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I finally met Author Sawyer Bennett’s alter ego, Juliette Poe, and oh was this a different side of Sawyer! Where Sawyer Bennett’s books are hot and heated, Juliette Poe’s are more sensual, soft, and slow. Juliette Poe’s latest sensation transports you to the sweet, small-town South where tradition, history, grace, manners, and more rule. Stubborn as a Mule is SASSY and SWEET SOUTHERN GOODNESS!!!

Beautiful Meli is a wealthy New Yorker relocates to a small North Carolina town to chase down her past and slow down her life. I loved her smartness and sass!

Meli never thought she’d encounter a roadblock and very unwelcoming party in the form of hot, Southern man candy, Lowe. I could not help but chuckle at their heated and humorous banter. Meli and Lowe are Yankee ice meets Southern heat who MELT together!

What’s not to like about a man who shuts a woman up with his lips?

These opposites can’t help but attract, and oh did connection ignite like fireworks!

“What are you interested in?”

“Not what,” he says without pausing in his stride or looking back at me. Yet, his words are meant only for me as he adds on, “Who.”

Lowe, this Southern gentleman, made me both blush and swoon! I LOVED Lowe!!! I could not help but read his lines with a Southern accent, one way stronger than my slight one.

Down in Whynot, NC, there are three things that hold true: 1) life moves just a little bit slower, 2) family means everything, and 3) you don’t mess with history.
When his family decides to sell a home that’s been part of their history for over a century, Lowe Mancinkus is madder than a hornet. To add insult to injury, the woman who purchased it is some fancy pants, city girl looking to fix it up and sell it off. Doesn’t matter that she’s sexy as hell or that just being near her gets his blood racing like never before. That home belongs to his family, or at least it did until she came to town.

Well that just won’t do, now will it?

From the moment that she laid eyes on the historical home in rural North Carolina, Melinda Rothschild knew Mainer House was something special. The perfect escape from life in New York City, Melinda signed the papers and set to work restoring the house to its natural beauty. That is until an angry Lowe showed up on her doorstep one day. With a scowl on his handsome, chiseled face. And a shotgun in his strong, muscular arms.

Is it getting hot in here?

Melinda’s about to get a lesson on life in the south, but Lowe is about to learn a lesson of his own – this city girl doesn’t back down from a fight.

The booming sound coming from downstairs causes me to sit straight up on the mattress that is placed in the middle of the master bedroom floor. I’ve yet to get a good night’s sleep because there’s a damn train that runs parallel to the town. It’s just two blocks over from the Mainer House, and it feels the need to blow its whistle around two AM each morning. This isn’t that big of a deal to most of the residents of the small town of Whynot, but to me… it chafes just a little because, well… I love my sleep.

I’ve been assured by the nice lady who runs Sweet Cakes, the bakery right across the street from Mainer House, that I’ll get used to it, but I seriously doubt it. Even the noise of New York City never penetrated my sleep the way a train whistle does, and I get a totally empathetic look from her when I stagger in for some coffee and a cheese Danish each morning.

I think I’ve slipped into a pattern at night where I now anticipate being woken up by that stupid train, so I’m not even able to get into good REM sleep. It’s probably why I shot straight up in bed at the banging that’s going on downstairs, although I can’t quite pinpoint from where it’s coming. A glance at the alarm clock sitting on the floor shows it’s 5:30 AM. It’s still dark outside, and I’m slightly—okay, greatly—confused. I struggle to process since it’s been almost two weeks since I came to Whynot and I’ve not had a decent night’s sleep since then.
Then it penetrates… someone’s at my front door.

Banging.

At 5:30 AM.

Immediate anger flows through my veins, heating me up from within. Without any further consternation, I know it’s Lowe Mancinkus causing all that noise. It must be him because there’s no one else in the entire world who has ever been such a thorn in my side.

Flipping the blanket back, I roll off the mattress and wince as my knees hit the floor. Almost three decades of sleeping on a mattress, box spring, and a frame, and I can’t get used to being only a few inches off the floor. I’ve held off on buying any furniture for the house until the remodeling is complete.

Pushing first to my hands and knees, I manage to lurch upright and stagger out of the bedroom. Down the rotund, sweeping staircase to the main floor. I don’t even bother to look out the leaded glass panels on either side of the heavy wooden door—so convinced I am that it’s Lowe on the other side—that I fling it open without an ounce of worry.

“What in the holy hell are you doing?” I snarl as the breeze generated from the doorway swinging open so fast actually blows my hair back.

Lowe stands there in mid-bang, fist raised high and a diabolical glitter to his eyes. His eyes lock onto mine for just a moment before they drop and casually run down the length of my frame. I look down at myself and cringe as I realize I’m still in my pajamas, which in the sweltering South consists of a cotton tank top and sleep shorts that are really short. My hand falls from the doorknob, and I cross my arms over my chest as Lowe looks back up at me.

And why does he have to be so damned gorgeous? In ordinary circumstances, this man pushes all my girlie buttons. Tall, just enough muscle to be strong but not freakish, and that dark chocolate hair with bright hazel eyes that are every woman’s fantasy. I always have to remind myself he’s a nasty SOB who I wouldn’t give the time of day to… in ordinary circumstances, that is.

“I’m here to start work,” he says casually as he pushes past me into the main foyer.

“It’s five-freaking-thirty in the morning,” I grit out, not moving from the open doorway. I expect him to be walking right back out again.

Instead, he ignores me and moves down a wide hall beside the staircase that goes to the kitchen. With a growl of frustration, I slam the door shut and then stomp off after him. “It’s completely rude to show up here at this hour.”

He doesn’t respond and as I turn the corner into the kitchen, I find him rummaging through the cupboards. “Where’s the coffee?”

“I don’t have any,” I snap at his backside since he hasn’t bothered to give me a second glance since he barged in. “And I don’t like you ignoring me any more than I like you barging into my house.”

“Get some decent clothes on, and I wouldn’t be forced to look through your cupboards for nonexistent coffee,” he replies calmly, moving onto the next cabinet even though I’ve told him I have no coffee.

In fact, I have hardly anything at all here. A mattress, pillow, sheets, and blanket in the bedroom, some orange juice in the fridge, and towels in the master bathroom. Those are the only creature comforts at this point, and they’re enough to get me through the remodeling. I’ve been eating out almost every meal and this is not a hardship as that’s pretty much what I do when I’m back home in New York. One, however, can only eat so many grits and collards, although I’ll take them over fatback and pickled pigs feet any day.

“I would like to remind you…” I say in a voice that comes off far too rancid and nowhere in control. “That this is my house. I can wear whatever I like to bed, with the assumption I won’t have visitors until a decent hour.”
“I’m not a visitor,” he points out, back still to me. “But because you couldn’t take a little joke and had to run crying to Judge Bowe, I now have to work for you. I also have to keep my own business running, which means I have to work early and late. You need to suck it up, buttercup. This is your life for the next few months.”

Review- Prom Queen by Katee Robert

My rating is 4 out of 5 stars

A quick second chance novella that shows people can change. I was sucked in from the beginning and was so curious to see where the book was going to head. It could have been a disaster waiting to happen for Jessica and I felt for her. I was rooting for her from the beginning.

Jessica made it clear in the beginning that she was a complete mean girl in high school. She has totally changed in the last 10 years. Her friends insist she go to her reunion but she doesn’t want to show without a date. Her brilliant friends decide to order her a date from an escort service so she doesn’t show up looking pathetic. Boy is she in for a surprise when she gets to the airport and her “date” picks her up.

Jake sees her application come across his computer and decides it’s time for revenge. When he sees how defeated and obviously changed she is, he changes his tune.

Will they have a happy ever after years later or will Jessica just be schooled in what it really means to be mean?

Synopsis:
Jake Davis had it all in high school—a scholarship to his college of choice, a promising football career, and the gorgeous prom queen for a girlfriend. And then he lost it all when he was injured right after graduation. Ten years later, he’s mostly made his peace with that, and now runs a company that provides women with dates for special events. Imagine his surprise when he discovers that the ex who left him in the dust needs a fake boyfriend for their high school reunion…

Jessica Jackson used to be the mean girl to end all mean girls. But life didn’t turn out like she’d thought it would, and now she’s twenty-eight, single, and works as an insurance agent to A-listers instead of being the A-lister like she’d always dreamed. She can’t go back to her hometown and admit just how thoroughly she’s failed, so she lets her friends set her up with a fake date for the reunion.

The second Jessica realizes that her fake date is Jake, she tries to call the whole thing off. The problem is the chemistry between them is even hotter now than it was when they were teenagers. Against her better judgment she lets herself get drawn into Jake’s arms again—and into his bed. But time doesn’t heal all wounds—sometimes, it actually makes them worse—and if Jessica and Jake can’t learn to forgive each other, their second chance might not last the weekend.

Taking a fortifying breath that did nothing to fortify, she scrolled through her texts to find the number that had shown up last night. The words were short and to the point.

I’ll pick you up at the airport.

Nothing there to tell what kind of man she’d ended up with, and she’d been too cowardly to text back anything other than a generic agreement. Now there was nothing left to stall with. Jessica hitched her purse higher up on her shoulder and headed through security. The big red line tiled into the floor was a point of no return in so many ways. Why did I think this was a good idea?

Her mama didn’t raise a coward, though, so she lifted her chin and marched forward. No matter who this guy was, she’d faced down worse. She’d been worse. It couldn’t be more horrifying than the Miss Texas Teen USA pageant of 2005 where that little brat Misty Brennan cut holes into her dress and she didn’t realize it until she was out on stage and had her pink polka dot bra showing to the audience and God. Jessica had powered through that and walked out with second place, and she’d power through this, too.

She joined the people from multiple flights crowded around the baggage claim, her body practically vibrating from nerves. The scent of too many people in too little space assaulted her, but she was more focused on the faces she didn’t recognize from the plane. Too many, all filtered in with the travelers—there was no way she’d be able to pick him out of the crowd. Her date had her picture, so he’d have to be the one to approach. What if he doesn’t? What if this is just karma giving me one last kick in the teeth?

Oh, for God’s sake, stop being so dramatic.

“Jessica.”

A thrill shot down her spine, quickly eaten up by a dread so strong, she wished the ground would open and swallow her whole. She shot a look at the nearest exit, but if she took off now, she’d have to admit that she fled instead of turning and facing her Number One Nightmare.

Jake Davis.

Praying she was wrong, she turned slowly to face him. Nope. That was definitely Jake Davis, ex-quarterback, ex-boyfriend, just all around ex when it came to Jessica. And he was definitely way better in real life than he’d been in the pictures she’d seen while she was creeping on him. Her heart picked up and her body sparked to life in a way it hadn’t in far too long.

Something like ten years.

She was staring. She couldn’t stop. Jessica licked her lips, her breath stalling in her lungs when his green eyes met hers. His eyes had always been one of her favorite features—a true green that brightened depending on what he was wearing, framed with thick, dark lashes that had always made her jealous when she was a teenager. Going by those eyes, Jakes would be judged downright pretty.

At least until you saw the rest of his face. His hair had darkened over the years, closer to brown than blond, and his lantern jaw was covered with… “What the hell is that on your face?”

He blinked, the only outward sign that she’d surprised him.

“Nice to see you too, Jessie.” He touched his scruff. “A lot’s changed since you left.”

Her gaze jumped to his right shoulder. There was no outward sign of the injury that had started the end of it all, but then, he was wearing a light-weight black T-shirt, so it wasn’t like it would show. Focus, Jessica. “What are you doing here? Are you picking up someone for the reunion?” There you go. Nice and casual.

“You might say that.” He kept looking at her like he could see the inside of her head. Another new trick.

She glanced around, trying to be subtle. The baggage claim had started to clear out, and there weren’t any conveniently gorgeous men standing around alone. Where was her date? Now would be the perfect time for him to sweep in and do the job she’d hired him for. “I’m here with someone.”

“I know.”

She frowned. “What are you talking about?” On second thought, escaping Jake before she met her date was probably a better choice. She didn’t want to have to deal with meeting this new guy and trying to pretend they’d been dating forever. And how was she going to explain how she’d magically lost him between getting off the plane

and the baggage claim.

Cora’s so-called perfect plan was teetering toward disaster.

“Your order from Diamond Dates.” He gave her a slow, knowing grin that she felt all the way to her toes, and offered his hand. “Jessica Jackson, I’m your date for the reunion.”

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Katee Robert learned to tell her stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her 2015 title, The Marriage Contract, was a RITA finalist, and RT Book Reviews named it ‘a compulsively readable book with just the right amount of suspense and tension.”  When not writing sexy contemporary and romantic suspense, she spends her time playing imaginary games with her children, driving her husband batty with what-if questions, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

REVIEW ~ CADE BY MICHELLE SMITH

Just wow for a Debut novel this was a perfect read, a light hearted, chilled summer read, a book that will take you away from reality for a few hours and leave you with a smile on your face.

The story flows beautifully and will keep you captivated from start to finish and oh boy will it pack a punch on the heat levels.

Cade and Nora really are the perfect match and the chemistry lights the pages on fire and will make your heart race. This book will leave you feeling blissfully content.
A 4 star perfect summer read.

Cade Wesley has everything he could ever want.
His own thriving bar.

A house on the beach.

Money in his bank account.

His pick of women whenever he wants.
But he’s been so busy lately that he hasn’t had a warm body in his bed in far too long. All that is about to change.

When Nora Jensen walks into Cade’s Tavern, it’s lust at first sight.
In town on business with the freedom to cut loose, why shouldn’t she take a chance on the handsome bartender and indulge in her first ever one-night stand?
Of course, things are never quite that easy…

I’m finished with all my paperwork and other closing duties by the time two a.m. rolls around and the last guest leaves the restaurant. I rushed through everything, hoping Nora would show up like she said she would, but it’s closer to three a.m. now, and she still hasn’ t shown. So much for my high hopes tonight. I guess she changed her mind. Nikolas left about fifteen minutes ago, so I’m the last one here. No point in staying, I suppose.
I’m behind the bar top, my back to the door, putting away a few things before heading out when I hear the front doors open. I got sidetracked and never went to lock them after Nik left.
“We’re closed,” I yell out, putting the last liquor bottle in my hands on the bottom shelf and turning around. But it’s not some random stranger looking back at me.
She came.
Nora’s here.
My heart beats way past its usual pace, threatening to leap from my chest, and that’s when I realize just how much this girl affects me. I didn’t realize how disappointed I was that she didn’t show until she finally did.
“Hi.” It’s all she says, with a nervous smile, unable to look me in the eyes. She’s unsure if coming was the right idea or not, I can tell, but it is, and I’m determined to prove it to her.
“Hey,” I reply to her one-word greeting with my own, as I make my way back around to the front of the bar. She looks nervous as I walk in her direction, but I don’t head straight to her. I step in behind her and lock the door, flipping off the lights in the main dining room so only the emergency lights cast a glow over us. I turn around to face her even though she still has her back to me.
I walk up and stand behind her, my chest almost flush with her back, close enough she can feel my breath on the back of her neck. She’ s wearing another tank top, like when we first met, only this one’s pink and doing nothing to hide her arousal at my closeness. Her nipples are peaked and hard, straining against her bra and soft cotton fabric. Without moving the rest of my body, I lift my hands and run my fingers down each of her arms, starting at her shoulders and stopping somewhere near her wrists. In the dim bar lighting, I can see the goose bumps popping up on her flesh and I can hear her breathing speed up. She may be nervous, but she’s turned on.
So am I.
I walk around to her side and take her hand in mine, and start leading her out toward the patio door onto the enclosed waterfront deck. The security windows are already pulled down and locked, and the shades are already covering the windows, so it’s dark when we walk in. I stop at the control panel and turn on a few of the lights so I can see her. I want to be able to see her. To watch her fall apart underneath me. I direct her ahead of me, straight to the corner spot at the bar she sat in the night we met. The night I jokingly told her I wanted to do naughty things to her in this very spot.
Only, it wasn’ t a joke. I didn’t know it at the time, but it was a promise, and I intend to make good on it right now.

For as long as she can remember, Michelle Smith has been making up romantic stories in her head. But it wasn’t until this year that she finally became brave enough to publish them.
If she’s not reading or writing, you can be sure she’s watching her beloved Dallas Stars somewhere, or any of the numerous other sports she likes to watch. She currently lives in Big D (that’s Dallas, Texas for those who don’t know) with her wonderful husband and children.

Review- Notice by K. Webster

My rating is 4 out of 5 stars.
This story was a great mix of suspense, creepy, steamy, and deadly. Violet is running from a past that she never wants to catch up to her. She’s worked hard to cover her tracks. She works in a company that she is unhappy with because she’s treated like a piece if meat and not a human being. She has great ideas that could help the company grow immensely, but she dares not speak up.

She has been Grayson Maxwell’s assistant for 6 years and he has no idea who she is until she slaps her 2 weeks notice on his desk. He becomes infatuated at first sight.

Gray is definitely a strong minded man. He has a creeper side but in a good Way. He vows to to keep Violet safe and for her to be his forever. The thing is, he’s only known who she is for a week. Creepy or Supremely Hot?? You tell me.

I didn’t notice her before…but now I do.

The shiny strands of gold in her silky brown hair.

Tiny crinkles between her eyebrows when she frowns.

Her passion for neatness.

Once I focus on her, I can’t take my eyes from my newest obsession. Ever.

I need to know everything about her.

Her past. Her present.

The way she takes her coffee.

Exactly how she smells after a spritz of perfume in the mornings.

She’s perfect in every way and I was blind.

But, God, now do I see.

I notice the organized way she arranges her clothes in her closet.

How she visits the same market each Saturday.

The sounds of her breathing as I lie beneath her bed in silence.

Violet is mine.

She just doesn’t know it yet.

***WARNING***

Notice is a dark and unusual romance. Extreme sexual themes and violence in certain scenes, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to dark themes, then this story is not for you. If you aren’t into super obsessive stalkers, then this story is not for you.
